what weight are you if you are 5 ft 8?

Please lovely ladies,

I need some perspective here as people keep telling me I'm as I should be but not sure I agree....

I am 5 ft 8 , at the minute I weigh 11 st 8lb. Classic apple shape, 34ff boobs but good pair of legs! I feel I'm still fat at this weight even though I'm largely in a size 12 top and (mostly) bottom. Realistically though I'm pushing 40 so really struggling to lose anymore weight (i drink too much red wine if truth be told!)

So, what do other ladies with similar stats to me weigh?
Should I be hitting the spin bike and shakes or relaxing a little

Thanks Grin

These threads always amaze me - at 11st 8lbs I'd be a size 16-18, I'd look quite fat. I weigh 9st 10lbs and am a size 10....I don't feel skinny - I'm a pear shape and there is still ample flesh.

I am 5' 9" and 11st 11lbs.

I think I am just fine - (but secretly would like to be 11st 4 like I was when I met DH - 10 years ago and before 2 kids)

I'm 5'7'' and weigh 10st 7lb, aged 49.
I consider myself a stone overweight, although tbh this 'extra' weight has been around for so long now I'm starting to adjust my concept of what's 'normal' for me. I'm an hourglass but a lot of the extra weight has accumulated around my middle, which alarms me.

Have cut out wine on weekdays as I think slipping into that particular bad habit hasn't done me any favours.

If I ever make it to 10st I'll re-evaluate but I just know that I always felt comfortable and 'me' at 9st 4-7lbs.

And what Tellmelater said - just a couple more pounds for me and I'll be a 14. I already struggle to get into some of my 12 skinnies they've shrunk.

I'm somewhere between 5 ft 8 & 9 & weigh 9 st 10lbs usually, this makes me a size 12. I like myself best at half a stone less but it's just too hard to maintain Hmm

9 stones. Usually 8.5 but it just piled on in the last year.

Weight should be whatever you are comfortable with. I was just under 8 stones for years and years, although I used to be able to eat for England. Cant eat/drink as much these days but definately slowing down and not as much manic energy.

I am 5'7.5" and currently 12 stone 5lb - but also 30 weeks pregnant! Grin

My 'normal' weight is about 11 stone and size 12. At 10 stone I'm a size 10 with a gauntish face. At 9 stone 10 ish people tell me I look skinny and ill and that they're worried about me.

BUT I am quite muscly and large framed and have prominent collar bones (still visible now with pregnancy padding) and you can see my ribs at 10 stone.

My DMum is 5' 8" and weighs about 10 stone and buys a size 14 as she has quite wide hips, but very skinny legs, and a broad back and thick waist. She is a very different shape from me and looks very different from how I do at that weight.

Don't forget that your build plays a big part and muscle weighs much more.

5'8" and 10 stone. Size 10-12. Apple shape but flat stomach & good legs (long and slim with shape. Best feature). 34DD boobs. I think I'm slim and like my body mostly.

BUT... I lost 4 stone a few years ago. At that extra weight I was definitely fat fo me at a size 16-18. Hated it. So started exercising and doing WW and it came off over about 2 years.

I'm 5'9 and 10.5 stone, size 12, occasionally a 10 on the bottom. I'm 40, also like red wine too much and could do with toning up a bit. When you are tall, you can carry the weight, I think.

I'm 5ft 8.5in. BUT you only have to look at threads like these to see that the variation in body weight to dress size is enormous. I'm fit too, but my legs remain stubbornly chunky. It really is a personal thing - I'd still look fine at 10st 6lbs - any more and I start looking chunky and I really struggle to find flattering clothes. I too enjoy consuming large quantities of red wine and sugar....I have to work at staying slim.

I'm 12 stone 4 .. the heaviest I've ever been, damn baby weight since ds 5 months and no time or energy to lose it.

I'm a size 14.

My usual pre second baby weight is about 10 stone. Sigh.

62kg past time I checked before ds1 murdered my scales using them as a trampoline. That's just under 10st I think, size 10 (although would have been s 12 in old sizing)

I need to lose about 5kg that I haven't managed to shift since having the kids.... I wouldn't mind but the excess weight is all on my belly so I look pregnant still and my youngest is almost 4!

How depressing. I'm 11st 5, and for the the first tine for years feel faintly acceptable. But now I feel a total lard arse.

In my 20s I was 9 st 7, or thereabouts and a 10-12, in my 30s 10st 7 and a 12. And yet in my 40s, at a stone more, I'm still 12-14. Quite a good demonstration of vanity sizing!

Sagelynodding · 21/11/2012 22:51

OP, I am almost exactly the same as you, minus one cup size and plus one inch height!

I weigh 11st8, and can wear a 12 but I am more comfortable in a 14 still :(

I am pretty happy with my figure as this time last year I weighed at least one stone more. I have broad shoulders, breasts, a waist, hips and long legs, I am not made to be v v skinny!

If I lose too much, people ask me if I am OK all the time-I look all gaunt as the weight falls off my face and not my bum/stomach.

If I can get to 11 stone I will be completely happy.

I'm 5.7 1/2 and weigh 12st 10. Consider myself 10lbs overweight for me. Buy a 12/14 normally depending on the shop.

But I'm very athletic build. Was a borderline pro athlete when younger and still do around 7 hours of sport a week now. Have lots of muscle.

Nobody believes I weigh what I do if I tell them!

Jeez, I'm hiding this thread now, its making me rather depressed Wink although tis crazy to see the difference in body shape / sizes...

I'm kind of happy as a size 12, my husband and friends have often said I need to deduct about a stone for the weight of my boobs to get my 'true' weight...

Will endeavour to lose another half a stone but after Xmas / New year Grin

Thanks all, been extremely enlightening!

BLIMEY.... I'm 5'8", 14 stone and a size 18..! Mind you, I was 16.7 stone and a size 22 about 18 months ago , so my self image and confidence is pretty good right now.

I'd love to be between 13 and 13.7 stone and a size 16. That's as far as I can think - am just flabbergasted at (to my mind) the teeny tiny amounts some of you weigh..! Grin

I'm in the process of losing weight at the moment and was starting to feel good but perhaps I shouldn't have read this thread!

13 stones and 7lbs this morning, and was justt getting excited to be able to wear a size 16 in the past few weeks! Smile

I am aiming for 11stone and 7lbs as I would like to be a size 14. Smile

Thanks sagely like you I was much heavier last year (3 stones thanks to lovely ds!) So I really need to put it in perspective...

I could only ever dream of being 10stone nevermind 8 stone like some of you. Really, how do you manage it?
