What do we think of this Parka??

Spotted this in Warehouse today - what do we think?

this one

I wanted a parka that was warm but had some shape and wasn't too long. This one seems great but I spotted it as walking past and didn't have time to stop. Anyone seen it up close? My budget is smallish and ?100 is about as much as I'm prepared to go.

I'm on a style and beauty thread roll and this is 3 of 3. If you have an everyday mascara you like or know anything about dog walking footwear please come find my other threads.

I like it,sort of thing I'm after. Haven't seen it in flesh yet though sorry, but now you've made me want to go try one on!

Only thing that I can see that looks slightly odd is the faux fur trim; should it not be around hood? Also, it only says 'shower proof - we're you hoping for waterproof?

I have been looking for a parka and I've just take the plunge and ordered the Barbour one - mainly because all the ones from high street shops I've seen are only showerproof rather than properly waterproof.

I saw it at the weekend and, well, being blunt I thought it looked a little bit cheap in the flesh.

I'm with Pear.

Black parkas with fur always look a bit....um... Internacionale to me.

oo Slinky I am Envy I love the Barbour parka - just can't justify the price. I need a totally warm & waterproof one too.

I'm going to the Barbour factory shop next week to see if I can find a bargain.

Helga - I don't think it looks very warm!

The fur is removable (I think).

I was hoping for waterproof but I don't think I can afford waterproof!

Have not seen it in the flesh, but that looks a lot of money for what it is.
Maybe go to Lands End and look at their new squall parka?
It is £100,-- and screams quality. Lots of colours too.

I'm sorry but the Landsend one looks like a rain coat not a parka.

Bump bump

Had a look at the Lands End one and the shape would do nothing for me. I know warm and dry is the aim but it would be nice to not look shapeless either. Am a pear shape so need a little waist definition. Plus budget is 100 Euro so 100 pounds is over budget plus factoring delivery costs into it.

I know I'm awkward, sorry!

I've just bought this one from Monsoon uk.monsoon.co.uk/view/product/uk_catalog/mon_1,mon_1.5/2930296652
It's lovely, snuggly but has some shape to it as you can adjust the waist. I love it!

Sorry, I'll try that again!

I just bought this from Top Shop, under £100 (just). Fur lining removable etc and nips in nicely at the waist. You need to get two sizes smaller than normal I found unless you can carry the over size look (which I can't). here

The Lands End one is a proper Hayley Cropper coat. Yuck.

I've just bought this. It arrived just now and is gorgeous. Really warm and well made. And the leopard print hood is very me.

They have a few other reasonably priced parkas.

This is lovely in the Fig and the Navy.

Nice

Another Oasis one

Loads to look at.

I like the monsoon one but I'm only 5'3 so I reckon it would almost be ankle length on me! Quite a bit over budget too.
I saw that topshop one in the shop but didn't even consider it, might try it on tomorrow

Bunny LOVE the asos one with the leopard detail, have a serious soft spot for a bit of leopard print. It looks in the picture you can tighten the hood, is that the case?

Is it bad that I've just fallen in love with this? Am a 5 year old at heart! Loads to look at.

I'm only just over 5"3 too, and it comes down to about my knees, fine by me on cold, wet days walking to / from school!

And NO to ears! I love a bit of fun with clothes but there's a line to cross, and that's the wrong side of it Grin

Haha! I was going to link to the ears one as I love it but thought it would be too daft! Clearly not Grin

Honestly the leopard hood one is gorgeous. I can't stop twirling in it! And yes the hood has toggle so you can tighten it!

And it's reduced!!

bunny how's the sizing? Is it true to size do you think? (I'm seriously tempted)

True to size. Maybe even a smidge generous.

My boobs usually force me to size up. But this one zips up fine and fits perfectly in my regular size.

Not too long either. I'm only a shortarse and it hits mid thigh.

Do it Grin

It sounds so perfect. Boobs an issue (and bum) and a shortarse too!

Fab thread

I love the leopard print hood one, is it waterproof or showerproof. Does it feel warm?

Ditto the waxed oasis one, does that make it waterproof.

Both are lovely, I'm looking for something warm and showerproof as wont be walking long distances but need to keep dry from car to clients homes

HelgatheHairy · 04/10/2012 13:53

And we have a winner.

Despite my love for the asos leopard one, I was put off by the fact I'd have to order it. I'm in Ireland and its just a faff to return things. So saw the waxed Oasis one in Oasis today and it was love at first sight. So I bought it.

It's lovely, there's an inner gilet type layer that's removable, so it's going to be good for colder and warmer weather. There's pulley in things at the sides so it can have a bit more shape, the fur on the hood is removable and there's pulley in things on the hood.

The ONLY downside is the hood is a bit big. If I put the hood up with the fur on, I can't see anything! But I figure, with the fur off and the pulley in things pulled tight it will be fine.

Glad you got sorted Helga! Oasis one is lovely.

I am giddily awaiting the proper cold weather so I can wear mine everyday Grin
