How do you manage yours and hw often?



Facial hair has really had a great negative impact.

My facial hair problem is worsening as I age. I decided to buy a magnifying mirror and a pair of Tweezerman tweezers and pluck the hairs out.
Very time consuming, took a few hours as I have lots of hair. Pleased to report I have lost the telltale grey shadows on my jawline.

But raised bumps have appeared and some of the hairs were transparent. I'm wondering whether this is because of the four sessions of laser treatment I had and the pigment is forever lost?

I also brought the new Braun Silk Epilator with facial attachment. Useless, threading hurts and waxing is expensive.


I'll keep on tweezing. I feel so much better and more feminine already :)

DH has a beard. And a trimmer with fancy attachments. One of which is ideal for dealing with my moustache

Takes me about 2 minutes every 3-4 days (or more often if going out).

Tok me 5 hours yesterday and two today to pluck it. Still needs plucking. Fucking PCOS. I'm sick of shaving :(

Try bleaching - it's not so obvious when it's blonde.

What about something like Veet's facial strips? I use their regular strips for arms and legs and just use a scissor to cut one of them into manageable pieces of strip for chin, 'stache and eyebrows (be very careful with eyebrows though!)

I use an epilator, but it's a Philips :) not sure if/why it would make a difference!
I do it after the shower when pores are open. It's the only way!

Thank you all for your fab replies :) It is a very pressing and personal problem isn't it? My hair was coars, thick and black, Yuck. Knoocked my confidence but I look so much better already.

I've tried to wax at home using strips and it didn't work. Maybe they shall now I have plucked the hairs. I read the hairs come backj finer and no so sharp or coarse as when one uses a razor.

A little tip if you're using the wax strips - try a little bit of talcum powder on the skin before sticking the strip on - not too much, just a light coat with your fingers over the skin, it helps to grip the little hairs better without yanking the skin too hard (if y ou put too much on it won't grip though).

After you've waxed and washed your face try applying a drop of tea-tree oil mixed with a few drops of a carrier oil (almond, or even baby oil for example) - the tea tree is a natural antiseptic/anti-fungal and helps soothe the skin and prevent breakouts. If you have very sensitive skin try this out on a small area beforehand just to be safe!

I use hair removal cream on my moustache upper lip. I only have to do it every couple of months though so I guess I'm lucky. Threading is supposed to last a long time, though it's bloody painful-might be less painful than plucking as it's so much quicker?

The wax strips just leave me with hairs covered in sticky wax and it costs the same as waxing, only you get less in the packet.

Waxing isn't that expensive though? A tub of wax and washable strips are less than a tenner and if you're only doing your face that lasts for a few months.

I've heard very mixed reviews of the Veet facial strips. I have tried a different brand of wax strips from Boots but I couldn't rip hairs off! I just couldn't get the technique.

Can you show me which brand of wax and strips to get, please tabulahrasa?

I just get whatever is in boots when I go in, lol - at the moment I've got veet.

It's not quite as good as getting a salon wax, but I find it much better than the strips.

I am HAIRY! I have a moustache and whiskers on my chin and would have massive eyebrows if I let them do their own thing.

I get it threaded off about every 2.5 weeks. Nothing else works as well as threading in my honest opinion,

Nair facial hair removal cream does the trick for me. Am too much of a wuss to use wax

I was reading a thread last night about the IPL (?) hair removers. They get rave reviews. But theyre so expensive! If I regulary paid out to a salon Id get one but Im tight .

I have a very hairy DD and I have PCOS and have wondered whether to get this.

Its not always best to look in a magnified mirror. You start to see things that others in RL dont!

Re - the magnifying mirror, I agree, tis scary :) but my face/neck is prickly. Tiny dark coarse hairs after years of shaving so need to see to pluck.

I have to buy the Veet to try.

I got nasal hairs too stick out a bit, nose hair trimmer on list.

I've just realised my upper lip is sporting a not so lovely tasche, I have fair hair on my legs so only shave/epilate very infrequently, yet this facial hair is a bit darker and I now see it everytime I look in the mirror I'm going to have to tackle it somehow

I use ipl . Mylovely beautician used to do lip and chin for 50 but she has shut up shop so I have to pay 95. I only need it done about 3 times a year so it is worth it

iloveeverton I had an Epicare years ago but threw it away as after repeated attempts the pain was too much to bear. I think I will buy another as tweezing doesn't really hurt me anymore. The technique of these gadgets are hard to master.

I brought one of these too recently, I'm not there yet but if you thread they're great.
