Because of you lot, i have booked a botox consultation !

i have been considering it for ages, like, a couple of years, but reading the botox thread has made me book a consultation

and my appts on saturday at sk:n

am really excited but very nervous

what can i expect? from both the consultation and the treatment? (assuming i actually go for it) i am only 32 but feel in the last couple of years DC and being post 30 have kind of taken their toll, just want to "freshen" my face up a bit IYSWIM

If it's anything like my doc, when you arrive they'll give you a numbing cream to put on your forehead first which will take 15+ mins to work.
They'll discuss with you what you want to achieve. Remember less is more on your first visit and in a couple of weeks time if you don't think you have enough then you can go back for a top up. They shouldn't charge you for the top up.
Check that they do this.

The injections are like having your skin pinched with a tweezers. Not pleasant but not unbearable.
You may have a little bit of blood from the injection points, again, not an issue and isn't an indicator of future bruising.
They should give you a balloon filled with ice or something like that to hold on the injection points for a few mins to make sure you don't get any swelling/bruising.
You can apply make up immediately after your appointment (you should be foundation free for the appointment so they can see where your lines are).
It will start to work in 4-7 days.

The Dr looked at mine, took some photos, we discussed options (whilst examining in detail my lines) - botox/fillers etc and what they might or might not do and the effects of botox/fillers. What kind of result I was hoping for etc (half an hour)

For the treatment, he cleaned my forehead and injected it with a very small needle. That was 10-15 mins

I've been to skn on several occasions and have never even been offered a pre numbing cream. You will not need it, it seriously doesn't hurt that much. Go for it, it's remarkable. Although at 32, how deep can your lines be you revoltingly young creature you

Misty, be prepared for them to tell you that you don't need it - that happened to me when I went for a consultation earlier this year (am same age as you and went for same reason). I went away with a new skincare regime instead it cost as much as the botox which has really helped brighten my skin up.

I had mine done at Sk:n and it just didn't work. I went back a few weeks later, they tried again (charged me) - still nothing. There was no mention of it possibly not doing anything at all at the beginning, but by the end they just kind of shrugged. I felt cheated. Cost a bomb and they didn't care. Make sure you arrange a follow up appointment with the person who actually does it at the time you have it done. Otherwise they just hope you'll go away. Which of course I have now. But am poorer for it.

If you have doubts about your clinic and are in London, I can HIGHLY recommend Mr Matti on Harley St. He is not cheap but I trust him and personally I'd rather pay the extra and be confident

and yes i have heard that if the think you don't need it, they won;t do it. but i would be happy to consider alternative treatments, i have seen something called Fraxel on their website which sounds quite good

i don't know if i will dare put pics on as i wouldn't want anyone in RL to find them and know what i have done i am not even telling DH....is that dreadfully dishonest of me...

damn they just called as the doctor is not in today for some reason, so i have now got to wait till a week monday
