What can I wear with this jacket?

DH bought me this jacket for Christmas www.pitchandpolo.co.uk/women-c2/jackets-c17/joules-joules-mapilton-tweed-jacket-p260

It's gorgeous but I haven't yet worn it cos I can't seem to make it work with anything. Obviously skinny jeans and boots, but what else, and what about on top? I have a generous muffin top so can't wear anything tucked in and the jacket is quit short. Also I tend to favour patterned tops rather than plain ones and anything I try it with clashes.

Suggestions?

Hmm, bit hard to think about tweed in this weather Smile but:

You could go for the 'British rose' look by throwing over a tea dress and accessorising with brogues or plain sandals - the silk / tweed combo can work well.

Also, clashing's very much in at the moment, so don't discount tops you already have. If you wanted a fresh one, then this one 'clashes' in a fairly low key way
conservative take on clashing

Thanks Moonlight. I know it's entirely the wrong time to be thinking about tweed! Thanks for your suggestions. I am a bit afraid of the clashing thing, not sure I have the innate style to carry it off and would probably look like a bag lady!! I like the dresses through.

Smile - also, does the jacket stop at the top or the bottom of your hip? If the bottom, then it's going to be more difficult to get dresses to 'go' IYSWIM.

I quite often 'cheat' where the jacket is finishing at the wrong place and bring it to my dressmaker for them to fit it properly to my shape. It's not usually that expensive and is amazing how much more versatile the garment suddenly becomes - layering is easier, skirts become an option etc.,

Go on - be brave with the clashing - you might surprise yourself!
