Prom Dress (sigh)

LadyFingers · 17/03/2012 14:15

been out with DD1 trying on some dresses. Seriously do not want to spend £300 though.

Any recommendations for on-line ordering of nice dresses which don't cost £££££££?

cheers.

Unique Vintage? They also do modern style prom dresses. It's a reputable shop but be aware that there will be customs duty to pay as they are shipped from the USA.

What type of dress does she want?
Floor length? Short with a puffy skirt? Short but not puffy?

My niece hired a dress for her prom. This is quite common around here (South Wales).

there are a few dress hire sites online where you can hire designer dresses for around £80 or so, depends if you think she would take enough care of it. one called girl meets dress i have seen on here, or girl's best dress, something like that.

here actually there are alot around £50-60 plus she will be unique as none of her friends will be in the same dress.

I've been wedding dress shopping, lots of dress shops cater for prom girls. They buy bridesmaid type dresses, they don't have to cost as much as you said but probably start at £100.

What sort of thing does she want? There's a pic of my dd in hers on my profile. We got it from a little boutique near Carnaby Street at a v good price. Can't remember the name of it offhand but can ask dd (who has a fiendish memory) if any use?

DD got one made for year 11 leavers, we ordered it off the internet and luckily it fit, cost about £45.

She has her year 13 one coming up and as she is older she wanted long. Just found a fabulous shop locally today, she has chosen a long slinkly dress and looks stunning. Brought a tear to my eye and at £50 so it wasn't the price.

Grin. It's reallllllllllllllllllllllllllllllly boriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing. I feel about 12 years old again, sitting at the kitchen table, desperately hoping my homework would do itself.

I think she should go short and frilly and pretty and girly.

She wants something long and slinky.

Have you tried TK Maxx? They do some great prom dresses and not too expensive either.

Sexy Her are good for prom/ball dresses. DH is in the RAF and when we go to balls I get my dresses from here. They are cut quite small, I usually have to go up a size and am 5'4 and they are fine in length for me. If you need anything they are really helpful on the phone too.
