I walk at lot at work and need some comfy shoes, that will last all day. I can't wear open toes or heels. Crocs are banned. I may look like a little old granny, but prefer not to dress like one too much, if I can avoid it.
My trusty diesel trainers have died and a need a replacement. Anyone got any good suggestions?

Fit flop trainers are very good (and because the soles are so thick they're good when the pavements are cold). Expensive full price, but often avaiable half price.
Brogues are comfortable and smart, too.

Really not sure about brogues.... I'm pretty sure lovely colleagues would die laughing if I turned up in a pair, but will look at the fit flop trainers.

There are similar strictures on my work footwear ( I work in a hospital ) and these are the ones I wear, not exactly Louboutins but very comfortable, comply with all the rules and less offensive than many sensible shoes. www.clarks.co.uk/p/20347091

They look a bit middle aged. Sorry. Particularly if you are middle aged.

I work in a hospital and wear these, very similar to Msarsebiscuit. They are very comfortable and have worn really well.

It's difficult, innit ? I fricking loathe ugly shoes - I would have to be anaesthetised to so much as try Crocs on.
2fedup, do you have to comply with strict rules/ a uniform policy ? If you don't then maybe you have a bit more choice. I did use to wear Clarks black suede trainer things for work but that was being a bit of a rebel as suede is outlawed ( harder to clean ... )

Have you thought about a nice bouncy wedge?
I have some lovely purple wedges that I can walk in all day, or do you have to have flat shoes?

I suffer from Plantar Fasciitis, which affects the bottom of my feet. I am on them most of the time.
I have two solutions... One is as Dilys suggested and the FitFlop type shoes, or MBTs... although expensive can be like limousines for your feet!
I also have a very good set of support insoles that I put in other shoes that give my feet support and means I can pretty well wear what I want. I paid a lot for them but it means all my shoes are pretty well OK for long term wear.

I live in Fitflop boots/trainers/sandals. I had back problems from having 3 babies very quickly and was having regular steroid injections to treat. Not had a single one since I swapped to Fitflops. There are no footwear more comfortable IMHO. The support on your joints is outstanding.

Fly london has the most exquisite bouncy wedge shoes.
I also like Sketchers ballerina pumps with the horizontal strap.
Crocs do some shoe type designs now. If you can get hold of the Alice ones they are cracking. They look like Mary Janes, very slim on the foot. Nobody would look and think they are Crocs.
Oxygen/roadhogs are great because they have a cork footbed but maybe too casual?

My fit.flops have died. I need something I can wear with socks not tights. I couldn't wear the Clarks ones above with socks, could I?

The gold shoes...... I'm not sure you could wear them with socks. TBH, you're braver than me if you can wear them at all. The shoes, not socks.

Not the Clarks gold ones, no
<shakes head sadly> No, I meant these
I am not old special enough to wear the gold ones.
