I let a 4 year old choose my clothes...

And it didn't end up with me dressed head to toe in 'Hello Kitty'.

I don't take DD clothes shopping, I very rarely go clothes shopping. But there we were, in H&M to get something for a young relative's birthday and I thought I would risk a quick fling round the grown-up bit to find something soft and shapeless.

Always better with a role to play, I asked DD to be my fashion assistant. She took this job very seriously and wandered off on search of pretty things for mummy.

Apart from a beige lace body-con mini dress that would have made an excellent sausage casing, she made some great choices. Not stuff I would have picked up at all - a bright red dress and a kimono style jacket - but both of which I loved when I tried them on.

I had to drag her away from a sequinned evening gown in the end 'but it seems such a pity to leave it there, mummy.'

So, for a style break from your normal routine, I recommend a miniature personal shopper, not least because the evil glare of the changing room mirror is considerably lessened by someone saying 'lovely mummy' which ever way you look.

My children would either have me trussed up like some granny or dressed like a tart after some business Hmm

We walk past the "Mistress Boutique" on our way to school. My four year old would spend ten minutes each way trying to persuade me to buy a pink tutu and corset number, except the corset didn't cover your boobs and it came complete with nipple tassles. Luckily they have changed their window now so she isn't as interested in the black leather numbers.
