Do Monsoon dresses come up small or large - Byron Wedding Dress

Hi all,

I've fallen in love with this wedding dress. However I'm overseas meaning I can't try it on before I buy! Does anyone know what the cut of Monsoon dresses are like?

My top half is a 10 but bottom half is a 12 so typical pear shape. I'm thinking the way the shoulders are cut would balance out my hips, plus I just love the dress so I'm hoping someone has some advice!

Thanks smile

I'm thinking the wisest move would be to order the 12 and if needs be find a local seamstress who could alter the bust if it's too big.

Monsoon sizes used to be enormous, but I think they may have changed recently?

I always find them smaller on the chest so I would get the 12.

Its lovely!!

Ooh thanks for the tip, a 12 it is then

Now I just need to wait for a code to pop up! smile

Hmm I'd say they come up large! I'd say I'm a pear shape too, a size 8 on top and a 10 on the bottom, except in M and S where I can buy a size 8 skirt. My Monsoon wedding dress last year was an 8 and needed taking in on the top, by a good handful. I tried on three other styles at least and all came up big, some more than others. The one most similar to Byron was one of the biggest. That said, if you can't return it, the bigger size is obviously safer. I'd want a good dressmaker to do the alterations on that style, though, as it wouldn't look good if he skirt was hanging badly. Factor in a realistic wedge of cash to get it fitting right!

I'm a 12 and I recently bought a 10. Fits perfectly with spanx!

I'm 10/12 in real life and size 10 in Monsoon. I'd be going for a 10 if I were you.

large

I think they come up large. I had a Monsoon dress for my wedding (Victoria). I'm a size 10 but I'm 30FF bust so sometimes dresses are too small at the top.
I bought the ten and it fitted perfectly.

Thanks everyone, this internet shopping lark is tricky, isn't it?!

Right then, I think I am going to get a 10 but just doing a final bump in case anyone else wants to chip in with their pearls of wisdom grin

Just read the reviews online from your link and someone says that they're normally a 12 but the 10 fitted perfectly, so go for the 10 and keep your fingers crossed!

... but does it fit?

mirai Sun 19-Feb-12 10:40:39

Ok so the verdict is....

Whoever said get the 10, thank you thank you thank you. The dress is GORGEOUS!! grin

It makes me look tall and slim and fits as though it was made for me grin Pear shape? What pear shape!

It does show up little bumps around the belly and hips but a pair of spanx sorted that out no problem!

I might sew a row of small crystal beads around the hem to give it a bit of extra sparkle.

Only slight problem is its a bit creased and I'm not sure how to make them fall out but I'm sure I can work it out.

Bottom line I love it! thanks to everyone for helping me choose! It's absolutely beautiful. grin

I'm bumping because I'm still so grin and want you all to know!

VeronicaSpeedwell Mon 20-Feb-12 16:14:40

grin Hurrah! Great news, it's a beautiful dress. Have a lovely time looking forward to wearing it! I got my shoes from Monsoon too, they were very nice too, and super comfy.

Ooh that's lovely, and the money you saved by not needing alterations (and getting it off the peg in the first place) can be spent on champagne on your honeymoon. Well done you.

mirai Thu 23-Feb-12 23:19:54

Thanks both smile I am actually going to try to see a row or two of bugle and seed beads around the hem, just for a bit of sparkle smile

Sew, not see!
