Gelish or Shellac?

I have the opportunity to start getting my nails done with 'permanent' polish. One salon offers Gelish and one offers Shellac. The prices are pretty much the same.

Anyone know which is better?

I had a shellac French manicure which only really looked nice for just over a week. Wasn't very impressed and it could have just been the place I got them done at didn't do it very well. I paid about £20-25 I think

Got my nails done at Nails Inc ( not sure what they use, maybe something similar to gelish?) - loved them!! Lasted best part of 4 weeks, no chips, and only had to get it taken off because my nails had grown so much. Paid £55 for that one though, so more than twice the price of my shellac.

Thanks for the response. I have had Gelish before and it last just under 2 weeks.

4 weeks is fabulous! We have a Nails Inc around here, I'll check them out.

I have Gellish every three weeks, still looks good after 3, but is starting to grow out. Lots and lots of colours too.

I pay £30, which includes having old one soaked off 1st.

Have had Shellac, is not as hard wearing, the girls where I go don't like using it.

I just found one called GELeration that I've never heard of.

Anyone had that one done?

GELeration is made by Jessica and although I've never used it personally it has a good reputation. As regards Shellac or Gelish, they are both good products from reputable manufacturers. Gelish has a wider range of colours but applied properly they should have similar longevity.

I use OPI Axxium for my permanent polish, classic OPI colours, mega shine, lasts 2 - 3 weeks and soaks off easily. I charge £27 and that includes the soak off of the previous colour.

Don't do the Nails Inc one. Completely trashed my nails. It cost them to make me go away!

i.e buy the polish and the lamp?
