My hands - help!

My hands really don't belong in "Stlye and Beauty", but that is my aspiration.
Anyway, they are so dry they are cracking and old looking and yuk.

I have tried putting Vaseline and cotton gloves on at night and while it helped, I ended up with greasy patches on the duvet cover. I don't really want to put latex gloves (or other thin plastic ones) on overnight as that will be really uncomfortable. I'm co-sleeping so do use my hands at night.

What else can I do. Hand balm from Boots seems to help as does the Body Shop hemp one. I need something that sinks in quickly as I really don't have time to sit idly.

I try to use rubber gloves when my hands are in water but sometimes it's just not practical. We don't have a dishwasher and DS2 (aged 2) often likes lots of attention when I'm washing up in the evening and it's such a pain to keep taking them on and off.

Can I get a hand transplant?

Woe is me!

You could try this 'gloves-in-a-bottle' stuff; no idea if it works but it's always intrigued me Smile

This happened to me through not wearing gloves when cleaning/washing up and it took me a long time to clear it up. I bought glycerine cream which seemed to work better than vaseline for me and applied neutrogena several times a day.

I always use Surcare washing up liquid now as ecover, fairy liquid etc all aggrevate my hands. I buy disposable latex gloves to use when cleaning (rubber gloves made my palm itch)and also use Gloves in a bottle which protect your hands for several hours and wears away like skin shedding over the hours rather than being washed off.

good luck

this must be a similar thing. I have tried it and thought it was good, however I used to wash my hands about a hundred times a day so everything washed off (I was a little obssessed at the time).
Kiehl's Ultimate salve I find amazing but £££

you need cotton gloves inside your rubber gloves - and make sure you wear them whenever you are washing up - can you not do the washing up when your ds is in bed - then you won't have to faff around with them?

The best handcream I've found is aveeno - anything else makes my hands worse - make sure you also dry your hands carefully whenever you get them wet and apply the aveeno about 3-4 minutes after so you can be sure they are completely dry. it absorbs really quickly too.

also always wear gloves when you are out to help protect your hands from a temperature change as this will impact on the dryness.
