I am going to be 50 in a couple of months and I am having a major wobble about it.

I am doing a few things to make myself feel better (teeth whitening, facials). I am really tempted to try botox but I'm not sure. Will it help with crows feet?, and my eyelids are more hooded than they once were. Will botox open them up at all.

Botox is not the only way to help- there are loads of other things like fillers- Restylane etc_ and derma roller.

Google Dr Tracy Mountford and look at what she does.

yeah go to someone decent and get him to give you the lowdown
you can do masses with botox and fillers these days tbh
just depends where you want to draw the line

Botox will not help much/at all with hooded eyelids as these are caused by loss of skin elasticity. Botox prevents wrinkles, not drooping. It can help with crows feet by reducing the movement of the muscles around the eyes so that the skin creases less when you smile.

I go to Dr Nick Lowe at the Cranley Clinic - he's good! It is worth paying the extra to get anything like this done by a proper dermatologist - I would never get Botox done at a "Botox party" or in a room round the back of my dentist, though I know a lot of people do Hmm

I've just had some, and I'm well pleased. I've got quite deep-set eyes though, and now can't find anywhere to put eye makeup as I can't lift my eyebrows as I could!! I'm saving up for some fillers now. I believe the eyelid operation is called a blepharoplasty(?). Botox keeps your face still so you can't wrinkle it up and is therefore preventative as well as cosmetic. Go for it!!I'm 51 BTW.

Thanks for all the advice. If I have anything done I will see a dermatologist. Just need to find someone good in my area (Hampshire). Do Botox parties really exist?, that is mad.
I am lucky, I have inherited my mums fairly good skin. I just feel really crap about getting old and feel the need to do something about it.

If anyone has any other advice on how to turn back the years it will be very gratefully accepted. Grin

I've done quite a lot of research but I think my next step is probably going to be a lower face lift. My skin's ok - I'm just a bit fixated by my jowls, which I feel are really ageing and are harder to fix. I've also had something called the Genie which is a sort of glorified Slendertone that claims to lift your face. It was about £700 but I think it's worth it - it has definitely has had some effect but i can't quite put a finger on what it is. I feel better anyway, which is the whole point, I suppose.

You will be able tl use botox for forehead lines and crows feet, but the only thing that you can do to your eyelids is surgery.

Ive been having botox since i was about 30 and i love it, no one notices, its not obvious, but i feel better about myself with it

I am not riddled with it laser face! I have had it though and it is fab.The effect has really lasted but it was forehead lines only and not sure it would work for hooded lids I think that is an op.Although the botox can lift the outer corners of the brow slightly so that could help.I was really surprised at how subtle it is but the massive difference in how tired and haggard I look.I also had semi permanent lashes I think I was having a christmas crisis and they are a revelation and v youthful.I went to a consultant plastic surgeon who was brilliant

Ahh noddyholder I've been waiting for you.Just saw you on another thread but thought it a bit rude to demand you came over here Grin.

So the crows feet, can anyone give me a rough estimate of cost and how often I would need to top up. Can it really look subtle, I don't want to end up looking like Jordon.
I can't afford surgery so will have to live with the eyelids. TBH they are not to bad but would look better if they were lifted. I'm trying to find a close up picture of me for my profile. When I do please could I have some brutal (but kind) advice please. Dh is 10 years younger than me and is taking me away somewhere for my birthday and I so want to look fab.

It is £200 for one area so the crows feet would be 200 and 40 for any additional areas eg if you wanted between brows or forehead aswell.I went to Andrew Yelland at the Nuffield in Sussex. It can last up to 5 months although most people say 3 ish or 4.I ahd it done in November and it is still looking good.I think I will go back in May and that should last the summer. With the botox and lashes I can be make up free for the first time in years and I love it. Apparently Decleor prolagene is v good for upper lids.Worth a try and not painful!
