Kings Rd Cheelsea - shopping

Hi - friend and I are going shopping in this area next week. We have only been once before and found it really hard to find somewhere for lunch. Many places too posh and pricey - I might have stretched but my mate is not too flush. Price wise something like a Cafe Roufe, Ask etc. is what we'd be aiming for.
We eat most kind of foods but it is very important to us that tables be not too close together and place not noisy as we want an intimate chat. Last time we ended up in an overpriced cafe where food quite nice but all too loud and busy - there seem to be lots of them on Kings Rd.

Any suggestions for peaceful but not too pricey?

There are a couple of places in Duke of York Square-I know one is a Patisserie Valerie.
Also try Peter Jones

I seem to recall the Chelsea Kitchen was reasonable for lunch but have no idea if still open
also if you go past Town Hall toward Fulham there are smaller reasonable places

yy Peter Jones. Fairly decorous in there, and not too pricy.

Peter Jones Top Floor is great or they also have a Brasserie on the 2nd floor (i think, possibly the 1st) which is lovely - something like an Eggs Benedict wouldn't be too pricey.

The Farmers Market (entrance on Sydney St oppos Town Hall) is nice too but been ages since i was there so couldn't tell you about price.

enjoy!
