All I want for Christmas: The Discontinued Thread of Woe

EminentlyImminent · 20/12/2010 21:01

What I really want for Christmas is the original 1980s Armani for women EdP (I now wear Coco but it just doesn't do shoulderpads any justice) and either Revlon Skinlights Illuminator in Peach or something that would even come remotely close to replicating its dewy reflective complexion lifting miraculous effect. Especially when its previous effect was really not so necessary pre-DCs. I should have stockpiled when I had the chance [bitter sleep-deprived haggard emoticon]

Please tell me your discontinued fragrance/beauty woes and maybe, together, we can either move on...or find it on ebay, or even, find a close or (heaven forbid!) even better replacement

John Frieda Whipped up styling creme was perfect, I have very fine hair, most wax is too heavy for my hair. I mourn it!

The body shop blackcurrant reviving facemask. It just used to really wake my skin up.
I also loved that original Armani in the eighties, my friend used to wearit and it was great, I thought of getting some myself but had already missed the boat Sad

Clinique "weather everything" - I'm scraping the bottom of the jar of the one I bought on ebay Xmas Sad. Nothing keeps the frost off your face so effectively...unless you know different!

Laura Biagiotti's 'Venezia' perfume. I loved it so much and would probably sell my soul for a bottle.

I remember I had "Venezia" too and used Revlon skinlights in peach (now use various e.g.YSL teint perfect in apricot - no sparkle though and Clarins).

I used to use L'Oreal Nouriance shampoo & conditioner (in brown tubes) in the late 80s and would dearly love a sniff of that again.

Prescriptives traceless foundation tooSad

I want my Biotherm foundation back. They discontinued the only foundation colour that's ever matched my skin due to lack of demand. I've spent a fortune trying to find one as good.

Philosophy "amazing grace" body wash, they have changed the smell of it, it used to be gorgeous. Also "True Love" perfume was it by Elizabeth Arden?

There was a perfume by Ralph Lauren that used to come in those packs you bought on an airplane. It was gorgeous but could never find a full size version. This was when I was in my early 20s tho so would probably hate the smell now!

There was a shampoo in Canada when I was a teen called 'Gee Your Hair Smells Terrific" ,how fab is that!? ..I loved it ,and my hair did smell terrific.
Sadly don't think it is still made.

Clinique Wrappings, it smelled so lovely-kinda like rosemary but not in a lamby way Wink and Laura Biagiotti's Aqua di Roma, I finally tracked down a bottle in the STates though so I guess that doesn't count as I still have some but somehow it doesn't smell exactly right and Decleor's Aromantic which seems to have bitten the dust again after a brief reappearance. I still have a teensy bit left but it isn't going to last long Sad

Maybelline sky high mascara - made lashes long and dark and feathery. They do a new one which looks the same but is all sticky and lumpy. No mascara touches it. I stockpiled from e-bay but ran out about three months ago.

Also Space NK's rose scented perfume.

Lancome Aroma body range - the one which came in purple bottles/jars. It smelt wonderful! Think it was called Aromacalm.

Emo76 - a friend of mine invented Aromacalm when she was working in marketing for Lancôme!

Another vote for "Venezia".

Also Aqua Manda from the 1970s (my older sister had it and I would love to own it!)

Would also quite like my youthful vigour back ... not a beauty product alas.
