Do you do exchange/refunds a lot???

Hi all,
Since i had dd, my shopping routine changed a lot, I used to try in the shop but now i have no time, for example 1st with pushchair ,2nd with baby crying or wanting attention and more.
So when i go shopping i buy what i like and i think will fit me, so i try at home in my space.
If i dont like it i will return, if doesnt fit me ill exchange.

But some shop assistants in M&S, Monsoon get very strange, if i was doing something not allowed to, it really upsets me. Surely i don`t look like that bad, i have the item in perfect condition in the shopping bag with tags and wrap, and i have my receipt and card. Why do they do that??? Its my consumer right isnt it??
When they ask me what was the reason, i explain them all. I do the same at Next and never had trouble, i even get know the girls work there now
Last time i been Monsoon and girl treated me so bad i almost cried.Just to exchange the top, i spent there 30 minutes. She called everybody managers to ask if i could exchange it.
Or am i being oversensitive???

I don't shop in M&S or Monsoon, so don't know what their policies are, but making someone feel badly for exchanging something doesn't seem to be very good business practice.

How about trying some others shops instead and not patronising those?

I'd ignore it too. Have had to return a lot of stuff to Next recently as they kept sending me three of everything I ordered over the internet - some of the assistants were fine, some were snooty - I think it depends who you get served by!

I'm surprised at M&S - they used to have a counter exclusively for returns it was so commonplace. I think at places like Monsoon they probably have daily targets so when something is brought back it affects that day's figures and explains why they seem to take it so personally.
I don't think you are being too sensitive - bad service in shops always gets me too. Shopping is supposed to be enjoyable! I hate being made to feel like a criminal. I bought a pair of boots the other day from Jones and I think they are going to have to go back (can't tuck my jeans in!). I stressed when buying them that I might bring them back and apparently that's ok (because of course the girl wanted the sale) but I'm still nervous about having to do so with some snotty manageress.
Gap are always good - I think one of their set lines when you're paying is "hang onto the receipt so you can bring it back." They are always no quibble about it and really helpful (and I know that they have daily targets too so if they can be nice about it so should other places).
It's very shortsighted as you're unlikely to use a shop which upsets you.
