On this dress?

I saw it today in the shop and am strangely drawn to it, but I can't decide if it's frumpy or not. It makes me think of Beryl Reid in Entertaining Mr Sloane/The Killing of Sister George - and if I'm old enough to remember those film, I'm probably too old to wear it..:(

If we decide it's not frumpy, how would you wear it? Opaques and heels? Any jewellery?

If it helps, I'm a size 12-14 (probably a 14 in Oasis), have an apple shape but great legs for my advanced years (44).

Too young for me? I like it because of the sleeves (can't bare the upper arms these days, I don't quite have bingo wings but they aren't exactly toned...)

You can't get a necklace in there with the neck detail,but possibly very simple stud earrings if you want a bit of sparkle?

Agree with opaques and shoeboots as long as they're not too heavy and overpowering, its a subtle dress!

I think the dress is ... OK. Not for me but I am giving you extra karma points for the Beryl Reid / Sister George / Joe Orton references.

The colour is lovely but perhaps because I too am (ahem) an hourglass and it would therefore not suit me I cannot get past it. If you have great legs and a willowy neck, go for it.

I like the arms too as my arms are terrible.

NextMrsDepp's dress has amazing sleeves and lower neck more likely to be flattering.

Lovecat's dress has the lovely flower detail round the neck, and is a really nice colour.

I wish I was thin enough to wear either - they're both beautiful. You need to try them on.
