Is there any stronger hair removal cream for thick hair. The stuff I use just swells my hair up and breaks off at skin level if lucky, loads of hair remains on legs .

I agree. I have thick dark hair, and nothing works like a wax. It has also managed to kill a lot of hte hair follicles after 20 years of waxing.

Tried all sorts of brands including a tube for thicker hair. Tried home waxing was agony and half the hair didn't come off. Find silky mitts are OK but I get 5 0'clock shadow . Got an epilater and can just about stand it but have to go over and over it and still it keeps coming.

skribble you need to go to a beautician and get it waxed there.
home kits tend to just break it off. and its difficult to get the grip and direction correct anyways.
once you have been doing it a few times, it wont hurt so much, and the hair will grow more evenly, and be easier to wax.
i can actually carry on a conversation whilst having bikin line waxed now. and underarms tend to be done in about 20 seconds, threee pulls, most of the time actually applying the wax.

there are plenty of people around who have salons in their homes, and are cheaper than posh places, but just as good. what part of the country are you in?

Don't quite think I am ready to pay for someone to inflict that sort of pain on me, but i suppose it can't be much worse than epliation. No ideas for creams any darkskinned MN have any suggestions.

i always thought the epilady i had was much more painful than a waxing session at the salon.

I might give it a go, was considering electrolisis on top lip but don't want to fork out if it keeps coming back, did that at home too and it never worked. I did each area between 5 and 10 times legs included

I think professional waxing will be less painful than the epilator, especially as it will be over quicker. I am having some IPL treatment at the moment which is supposed to be more effective if you have dark hair and pale skin (knew it had to be good for something). I think it is expensive in the UK though. Might be worth a look....
