really warm CAPE needed - can you help me?

Hi ladies, I'm pregnant & rapidly expanding> I really don't want to buy a crappy cheap maternity coat (even if I could find a nice one) so I'm thinking CAPE is the way to go this winter.

Budget up to £150 (preferably under £100), must be really warm as it's going to be my main winter defence & I catch the bus to work, so I'm thinking it needs to be lined?

John Lewis has some quite nice ones - but many out of stock, Debenhams website only had one in a cotton knit, so not warm enough.

Any ideas as to what is out there? (if all else fails I'm thinking I could make one, but seriously I'm just collapsing after work & in weekends so not sure I'm going to have the mental capacity/energy to do so)

There are some nice ones here but am not convinced they would be warm enough

When I was pregnant over the winter, I used a black wool swing coat which fitted over the bump then flared right out - it only had buttons at the chest.
I sold it on ebay after I gave birth and got more than I paid for it. Think the label was First Avenue, and I found it in a local department store.

oooh I like the TOPSHOP one - I'm a size 18 though so not sure if 16 will work esp with bump.. But I can pop into TS & try it on this weekend. I saw one online at Next too so I can pop into Westfield & try them both on (if they are in stock).

I don't know of any Sainsburys selling clothes anywhere near me.

I've been thinking of swing coats too - actually the one I have already is almost swing, and quite roomy, but its sooo old now.

if I did make one I like this burda design - but in wool, perhaps silk lined? I think it would be a piece I'd keep for years. But the effort might undo me at the moment.

hey that's the best yet CMOT!!!! It looks like a bum covering length???

The Sainsburys TU website is rubbish - want to buy our clothes? - find your nearest store here - and then proceeds to list all my nearest Sainsburys NONE OF WHICH STOCK CLOTHES!!!

There is a White Company in Westfield too - looks like an expedition is required.

Yes - I'm 5'9, and it's mid thigh ish. V good quality too, and I've had loads of comments on it even though I bought it just because I have a broken arm and can't wear coats

I'm same height - bummer kakhi isn't available in an 18, as I try to avoid too much black these days.

Disaster - just went online to buy the ASOS military caep in an 18 - black is completely sold out & kakhi now available in 10 & 12 only.. complete Shock

I can't get to Westifled today as I've come down with a mild cold which has a side effect of giving me athsma - totally wheezy & breathless (not good for pregnant person).

So I'm still looking - any others spotted out there?

Disaster averted - just clicked on CMOT's link again this lunchtime & there was an 18 kakhi in stock so I snapped it up. Now they are all out of stock again - strange but fingers crossed I've got my cape - cheers!!! Grin

They are a bit like that tbh - I actually wanted black, but ended up with camel. three days later, black was back

yes and they have photos of camel but none on offer. And in the time it took me to place my order 3 sizes in Kakhi went out of stock! Still I'm relieved not to be schlepping around the shops hunting - so thanks again for all your help!

I try not to buy too much black, but find it hard not too - so I think the kakhi will work out well. Good to have a bit of colour in the bleak winter.
