I'd like to have my teeth professionally whitened. Has anyone had a good experience of this, please? Where did you do it? How much did it cost? Etc, etc, etc!

Thanks.

I had mine done in Boots nearly 10 years ago.

They did one strong treatment in the surgery then I had the tooth moulds (sp?) and chemicals to take home with me. IIRC I was meant to do it every evening but after a couple of nights my teeth were so sensitive that even a breeze of wind made them twinge Confused. So I cut it back to a couple of times a week, in fact I don't think I ever finished the course but my teeth were nice a bright.

The techniques might be more gentle these days though.

My sister (the actress one) got some whitening strips from USA. You can buy them on the internet - they are miles cheaper than whitening here. I can't remember what they are called but lots of theatre people use them because they are much, much cheaper.

Glad to hear it, Meglet! Grin

Alicatte, I don't trust myself to do it at home. I'm rubbish at anything like that!

My private dentist did mine-- I got moulds then trays and used gel in trays for about 2-3 weeks- wearing for an hour or so a day ( not at night).
I am pleased and got a 50% whiter result. i still have cream teeth but they are not yellow any more.

Cost me £400- expensive and I was peed off to see they are doing it for half price this year!

I also got 2 check ups included at the dentists to check progress and some free gel as I wanted to carry on a bi t longer.

I got mine done with my dentist - £200 for the trays and gel to wear for either an hour or two or overnight.

I'm very pleased with the results, my teeth are much whiter. Now the bad bits - it does make your teeth sensitive, I couldn't leave them in overnight but an hour or two was ok. After using the trays you can put toothpaste for sensitive teeth in to dull the sensitivity.

Also don't overload the trays as if you get it on your gums it can hurt.

The whiteness does fade over time but you can buy more gel online quite cheaply and top up your whiteness.

Cost ££££ with dentist. Results so-so.

Space NK sell something called 'Go Smile' for £79 - 7 days' worth of capsules - was listed in Harper's 100 top beauty buys this month - am planning to investigate... Grin (dazzling)
