What footwear with Leggings?

I am trying to be more adventurous in what I wear (I am a jeans and trainers person usually). I even bought a maxi dress this summer!

I have just bought my first pair of leggings to wear with a purple knitted dress I have and I would like to buy some more dresses for winter.

I know I need to wear ballet pumps, but what do I wear when it is cold?

I want a pair of boots for winter, so I would like to be able to wear them with leggings and also maybe my skinny jeans and also normal jeans (am I asking to much in a boot?!)

Can anyone please point me in the right direction?
I am short (5 foot 2) but slim.

Oh and I walk a lot so they need to be comfy.

Thank you.

I always feel leggings are a bit too thin for winter with boots. Boots look better with skinny jeans IMO.

But they are thicker than tights aren't they? And I would wear tights in the winter.

See - I am clueless!

I think a pair of good quality leggings with some flat, pull on riding boots would look fab. If you get them wide enough in the calf department, you can wear them with your jeans as well.

I wore my leggings with boots and long jumpers/cardis throughout winter last year and I found it OK, I think the key is to get a good thick pair.

I second flat riding boots.

Another thought - I saw a girl wearing soft quite slouchy flat suede boots with leggings and longish A-line skirt recently and it all looked surprisingly right.

I've gone for a short biker boot this year to wear with leggings/tights and dresses.

I have some medium-length flat biker-style boots that I wear all the time with leggings.

Just be careful - if your boots are a bit too wide and/or long on the calf you can end up looking like Puss in Boots from Shrek.

I have some from last year very vaguely like this which Im happilywearing with brown leggings. I like the heel which is chunky and comfortable but gives a bit of height and I think a better look. Mind you, I have quite chunky legs too so only wear leggings with a dress or skirt coming almost to the knee.

I am wondering how these would look with blue leggings. I wanted some smartish blue boots with a bit of a heel but I'm not sure about the suede cuff. (What's it for? How does it enhance the look? Is this a fashiony gimmick thing that will look daft in a couple of months? Does it look daft now?)
