Children's half shoe sizes?

DS was last measured for shoes about a month ago and was a 6.5.

I've seen some shoes online, but they only come in full sizes. Am I better off getting the 6 or the 7? I'm guessing the 7, but feel like they'll be huge on him!

I would always go for a size up as you don't want to risk little feet being squashed! He's probably grown a fraction in the last month too

Don't buy online. If they don't fit what will you do with them? If your DS needs a 6.5 then a size 6 will be too small and a size 7 will give him blisters.

It is not fair to scrimp on shoe buying because poorly fitting shoes can cause a number of problems in adults such as hammer toes, ingrown toenails, foot corns, calluses and bunions. Both MIL and my mum had bunion operations because they wore badly fitting shoes as a child.

DD is under a podiatrist for flat feet and he is very scathing about parents who buy off the shelf shoes that don't support their children's feet or aren't fitted professionally.
