Heated rollers?

Anyone have knowledge they could pass my way on how to use these? I have long hair but it can be quite flat and I'd like to try and get some body on the crown. Any recommendations of good ones to use? Thanks

Have you tried blow drying your hair upside down before anything else?

My hair is very long but also quite flat and I do the upside down thing more than heated rollers because they tend to just curl rather than add volume.

Hi Mini

I have been using heated rollers for years. I have two sets, one by babyliss which take a while to warm up, but there are lots of them and also a small set of ten that are quick heating.

I tend to use the larger set for going out and when I have time to do my hair properly.

I would recommend using hairspray on each section of hair first before you put the roller in, and don't leave them in for too long. When removing, make sure you shake the curls rather than brush them out otherwise you'll have a head full of frizz!

They can be very drying, so not really for everyday use but as long as you use a good conditioner it'll be fine.

Great, thanks. I've got a family wedding coming up soon so I'll have a practice.

After much research I've come to the conclusion that you can't beat the probably lethal old school Carmen heated rollers with the spikes and fearsome metal cores.

Have you tried Velcro rollers? I find them quicker to put in than heated ones, and you don't need to pin them to get them to stay put. Velcro rollers also come in much bigger sizes than heated ones, so if you just want volume, you could put in five or six round your crown area before you get dressed, blast it with the drier, backcomb a little, and you're done.

Using a tail comb to divide up the sections makes things much easier too.

This is the best thing I've ever used for getting volume into the roots of the long straight hair. I spray some in, let my hair dry a bit naturally then turn my had upside down and blast the roots (with a hairdryer).
