A nice pair of cords please...?

I don't know if this will get all the fashionable tights raising their eyebrows in horror, but I want a pair of cords. I've ordered a couple of pairs from Boden, but of course they're hideously expensive AND the cord is fat not thin, which I think is a bit granny-ish.

Tried some on in Gap this am, liked the style and the colours, but I couldn't get into the 12s, and the 14s were too gapey at the back at the waist.

Where else can I look for cords, oh shopping experts?

TIA

I had a quick look, and couldn't find anything. Some nice skinny ones in the Asos magazine but not on-line yet. Perhaps it's still a bit early?

Some at \link{http://www.monsoon.co.uk/Regular-Length/Heather-Cord-Trousers/invt/76201003\Monsoon}, and in \link{http://www.monsoon.co.uk/Regular-Length/Heather-Cord-Chocolate-Regular-Length-Trousers/invt/76201024\brown} - they're generally good for those who normally find trousers gape at the waist, when they fit on the hips.

Thank you so much all! I posted that request earlier and then totally got involved in some thing else (...erm...actually looking after my children!!), and I come back after bedtime and find lots of helpful replies. Everybody is so helpful. I feel cockle-warmed, and will go off and have a scout around on the net.

Should have mentioned...not skinny. As am not skinny, and I'm hoping to let the skinny jeans thing pass me by without ever having to actually wear any.

JackieNo...the dotty P ones are cool...but actually too cool for me. And the Ben De Lisi ones? Can't tell what they're like....I think it's just a bad picture. Thanks for the tip re the fit at Monsoon..because I do find the hips/thighs/waist thing a problem...if it fits in one place, it doesn't in another.

And that's the good thing about the rather frumpy Boden ones; they fit well. Is jumbo cord too granny-ish?...I don't really know why I think that, but I do, and redrobin obviously agrees!

Have just seen that I wrote in my OP "fashionable tights"....!! I know why, I must have been talking to someone about tights for the children, which I was shopping for today, at the same time as typing. I meant "fashionable types"!!

Thanks for replying to me, even tho I must have seemed either a bit odd or a bit thick.

Oh, and I believe you're pretty on-trend with corduroy actually Wink

I'm confused OP_ i have just bought the Boden straight leg cords and the cord is baby cord so it is almost like velvet- which ones are you looking at? I did get 20% off in preview but there is a code around for £10 off if you spend over £30.

Next have a couple of pairs on website. If you wait, Kew usually get some in.

Joules might do some though haven't bought from them, and Hobbs, and John Lewisown brand perhaps.

Last autumn, not long after having ds (a whopper at 10ib 6oz!) I was having a bit of a clothes crisis, so got my entire new wardrobe from supermarkets.

I really like cords and bought 6 pairs from Sainsbury's for someting like a tenner each! Really nice subtle colours - choc brown, grey, teal, bottle green, blue, black, purple. I have worn them all year (and I do mean ALL year), they wash wonderfully and are only just showing signs of wear at crotch and knees. Will be buying again this Yyear too. They didn't fit perfectly, but I'm sure that wasdown to my odd postpartum shape. Very narrow cord and a restrained bootleg cut.

I bought some in 'Kew' if you have one near you. Alas, I promply put on weight and can't get in them Sad

Hi purplepeony, no not the straightleg cords, which are lovely babycord but I don't do staightleg (I'm sticking to wideleg or bootcut whether it's fashionable or not, thank you!). it's the wideleg ones which are frumpy jumbo cord. I wish they did the wideleg ones in the same cord as the straightleg ones.

I did buy the straightleg ones to try on, and dh liked, and I nearly took the leap, but then couldn't figure out what shoes I would wear with them.

Noseynoo and Peony, KEW is a good idea...will look.

eeky, so funny you said re sains: my neighbour has a really nice pair of cords that are from Sains..I hadn't thought that they might do them again this season.

thanks for monsoon tip, jackie.

I did laugh at the picture of the principles cords. They make the model look like a total bloke.

Corduroy seems to work on a 3 year cycle of trendiness.

..thanks all....although having looked at my finances last night maybe new trousers might be off the agenda this season. Or I could ask my mum for an early Christmas present!
