Anyone had teeth whitening on a dead/dying tooth?

I want to have my teeth whitened but one of my front teeth is a few shades darker. Its not dead as it has feeling in it, but it might have had a knock and be dying.

I suppose the best case scenario is that all the teeth will go X shades lighter but there will still be a disparity between that one and the others.

Worst case scenario would be the others are lovely and white and the front one is brown. Not a look I aspire too.

Anyone know?

You could talk to the dentist about having a veneer put on that one to match the colour that the others have been lightened to, perhaps?

Hmm, that would be ideal but beyond my means at the mo.

My teeth always look whiter when I am tanned. It would be cheaper to have a permanent spray tan.

My son had a dead tooth ( kicked in the face during football session ) de rooted and whitened to match the natural colour of his others, sucessful but it does need to be repeated after a while.

You start off by selectively lightening the dead tooth to see how light it will go

blasting them all at the same time is not the way to go

Bobbalina, are you a dentist? I want to know if it is dead or dying or just darker. How would I know? If you look at my profile, there is a pic of me entitled moi. I am spray tanned in it, so my teeth look quite white and you can't notice the difference unless you are looking for it.

no, not a dentist but I had the same thing with a dead and slightly discoloured tooth!

I would recommend doing this under supervision of a dentist not with an over the counter home kit.

I had custom fit bleach trays, but each tooth could be seperately bleached if necessary
