Is anybody else out there really high waisted?

Strange question I know but does anyone have the same problem as me.

I'm not overweight(size 10-12) but I can NEVER get trousers to fit me properly. I realised it's because i'm so high waisted. Ie, i've got shapely hips, a little bum and straight up and down on my thighs and clothes aren't designed to fit women like this.

It's a bloody nightmare!I know there are worse things in life but it's never the less very frustrating.Angry

Does anyone else have this problem? Anyone suggest any decent trousers?

PLEASE HELP!!

I'm v high waisted. Just make sure your trousers aren't too narrow at the waist else they will be trying to reach the narrowest part of you which sits higher than most womens'. Not good. So aim for more low cut ones which are intended to sit below the waist anyway. Zara trousers are good for me. Hope this helps.

Despte your explanation of high waistedness I still don't really understand what it means! Are trews too big around your waist?

I am high waisted . I feel like Les Dawson leaning over a fence if I wear a belt and french knickers are a nightmare. High waised means that I have a long measurement from crotch to waist and a short measurement from waist to bust.

Cheers bunnymother. I shall give zara a go.:)

You hit the nail on the head trumpton. I always find it difficult to explain to people. When you say high waisted nobody has a clue what you mean, they usually think you're talking about the cut of the trousers.

Hmmmm, I've always suspected I'm high waisted, but never heard an explanation of it until now.

Trumpton I'm away now to measure myself, see once and for all if I'm high waisted.... then I'll be visiting Zara.

is high waisted just another way of saying "long in the body"? Confused

Report

No, Tulpe, its the opposite. Imagine you are too long in the leg (leg being from foot to waist) so you look out of proportion ie your torso is too short a la boobs sitting on legs. That's what I look like.

Oops, my endorsement of Zara works for me, but hoping that you aren't all disappointed!! Their trousers are also quite long so good if you really are long of leg.

I am high waisted as well and agree that trousers which are meant to fit at the waist are no good, you need low-waisted ones. I also often find it a problem with dresses, especially ones which are meant to be belted as the belt is never in the right place.

One the plus side, it does often mean nice long legs! Grin

Yes, oh yes, oh yes, gave up buying jeans in my 20's. Leggings were a boon when they were invented.

Now I make my own trousers (Adding 7cm to the crotch depth on the patterns) or wear Nike bootleg stretchy jogging/running gear.

Low waisted trousers fall down on me or show my bum crack. I don't even bother with shop trousers now.

Dresses with the waistline under the boobs are a nightmare for me. Empire line? Is that the term? I look ghastly in those.

I wear nice skinny T shirts as my waist is very defined, just very high.

DH says he likes my "in and out" bits.

I am also high waisted and find that I have to buy them too big round the waist which means that they are a poor fit elsewhere. Gap seems to have changed its sizes recently and I find that they're better.

Me too!

I have hardly any gap between my bust and my waist, then a long (rather wobbly) tummy. It makes wearing tight clothes hard - the shape does look odd, and fitted things invariably have the waist too low.

Anyone else find that if they wear 'on the waist' trousers (low-rise show my bum or fall down), then when they sit down there is excess material round your waist, but they fit perfectly when you stand up? Or is it just me?

Any suggestions for clothes shops/styles other than Zara?

It's also very easy to have a camel's hoof without realising it at all. I wear a lot of skirts/ dresses these days.

FINALLY!! I'm glad i posted this thread.

I really didn't think i'd get any response. Oh yes, the dreaded camel toe. It's horrible but it's really hard to do anything about it. I literally have 1 pair of jeans from Next actually, that fit really well. I should have ordered 50 pairs to see me through cos everything else i've tried look terrible.

And yes DownInTheJungle, I get that round the waist. Like I said I'm not overweight but if you've got any bit of fat then it spills over when you're wearing lowrise, but unfortunately you have to wear them cos high waisted aren't a good idea. :(

I'm glad i'm not the only one anyway.

The jeans that seem to work best for me (apart from maternity ones at the mo' as am pregnant) are Uniqlo's mid rise straight skinny jeans (£15 per pair). They aren't high but aren't low. As Goldilocks said they are "just right". Maybe worth a look?
