I been having sharp stomach pains for a few days. Yesterday was particularly bad, I managed to finish an essay that was due the day before but when I went to university to sit for my exam, before getting there the pain got so bad that I had to go back home. confused

I called the dr this morning to try to get an appointment but at my practise the standard procedure is for a dr to call back and do a phone assessment before deciding if a patient needs an appointment.

I don't know what to do, I won't be able to proof mitigating circumstances will I? Will the university just let me re-sit anyway?

The dr just told me to take pain killers and didn't want to see me.hmm

The exam is for my most important module, which I can not progress for its continuation next year.

I think you need to go back to the doctor, and try and see him in person.

Then you need to ask him to write you a note - I don't know how it works at your specific University, but I would have definitely thought that in order to be able to make up an exam or prove mitigating circumstances you need a medical professional's note. I don't think they would accept your word alone.

That said, I would recommend that you talk to your academic advisor (if you have one, again I don't know how it works at your Uni) because they will know exactly what you need to do.

I hope this is of some help smile

I'll call back the dr again tomorrow morning and will email the course leader. Thank you.
