So, I know it is still January, but I have a TMA due next week, and though I have known in my head what I need to write, I have spent the whole bloody day fighting with Word.
2k words need to be pretty much done before my tutorial tomorrow night.
Why do I do this to myself. (rhetorical, not looking for any answers
I got a brilliant mark for my last TMA, and now am scared I can't match it.
Lovely DH is lighting the fire, DCs are chatting nicely before bed, and it is almost
o'clock.
Anyone joining me?
Oh come on, please tell me I'm not on my own.
I'll have finished a whole packet of biscuits soon, and could do with some company...
Hello, I've seen the Procrastinators threads around but never wandered in. I was on a break last year - rather challenging home circumstances - but due to weird OU rules I have to continue now or won't be able to study with them again. Mind if I join you?
ED209 (child development - 60 points, level 2) starts on Saturday. I'm still on the 2nd of 3 recommended reading books
and I'm a bit nervous because my previous courses were maths so I haven't written an essay for a few years!
oooh that's the one I intend to do next. I hope you'll keep me updated as to how it goes.
Currently on DSE212, which you've probably done already, and doing 222 over the summer, in Bath.
I have to write up an experiment for this one. It's all fine, but I just keep avoiding actually writing...
you said you've been doing maths. Sorry.
Me too. Need to write 3000 words on leadership in primary schools + a presentation 1500 equivalent ASAP (due in yesterday
but had an emc so they are going easy on me)..
So far I have got a grand total of........... 205 words done!!!

I just found out my tutorials are in my local college. So I should actually be able to go to them this year
Hope your presentation goes well Ican, don't be too hard on yourself.
fuzzpig, you are way ahead of me - I haven't even opened the cover of any books - they are sitting looking at me on my desk whilst I plod on with another course! only thing i have done is try to load the CDs and the focus and neural network one does not work on my MAC and the OU don't have MAC compatible software - so the words up creek without a paddle spring to mind!
Hello folks, only just found you. Kept checking old thread in active convos - thought no one was procrastinating and you must all be madly working away!
I'm beginning to think I'm not cut out for this lark. I try to study but I find it quite tedious, then when I have 2 days left I cobble something together in a mad rush and usually get OK marks which doesn't really provide any incentive to change my ways.
Oh yeah the stress of it though, that's a good enough reason I guess (nearly had a heart attack last time, never again I vow yet always find myself in the same position
)
Good luck with deadlines people. Do whatever it takes to get by <eyes family pack of doritos and 4 pack of Red Bull>
Winny, are you MIA? Hope you're OK.
OMG what is with all the bugs going round atm. Don't think I've had a fully well family for about 3 weeks now. Feeling like I'm getting behind in everything too. I have an assignment to do for one course (due 1st March but the last question is a sort of "do something you want to do as long as meet these requirements" and it's a bit daunting). Also have to read over 200 pages for the other course. Need to submit my Dummy TMA too. Have dh's family coming at the weekend, then half term so feeling rather pushed for time.
Well, I ve been feeling so stressed lately, work and everything else that I felt ill today. Checked my blood pressure and it was 170/120
Have been a bit borderline so have been keeping an eye on it.
Now I am stressed about being stressed.
Seeing GP in the morning. Who will probably say : come back in a week and we will recheck. (They dont go on one off bp checks, they take a few) and he will say lose weight. (Yes I know)
At least I dont smoke and only drink on birthdays and Christmas really. Although it feels like a good time to start!
I don't have my next assignment yet, but I'm half convinced I need to resubmit the last one. So part of me thinks I should get started on it before I get given the next one. (Which is due end of March, but weirdly, seeing as its about policy, leadership and management, I am not that scared.
Right, well I have 2 days after today to do my TMA and I'm working on Friday and dh wants to go out for lunch.
His timing is not good.
Is conflict inevitable between people who have strong religious beliefs and liberals?-Yes. How can I stretch that out to 2000 words?
Good luck everyone and where is Winny?
ah, melty, mine was through the roof of friday as well, so i'm also in the stressed about being stressed boat. <sigh> am also in the 'need to lose weight' camp. i'm putting off going to the gp though. this was the nephrologist who told me, and i've got another 3mos worth of tests to do for him whilst he decides if he's going to do anything. <sigh> and i also can't decide if i've got rsi in my elbows from typing, or if i'm succumbing to rheumatoid arthritis (damn you mother). spot the hypochondriac procrastinator...
ah chipmunk, if i were you i would say no, just to be mardy.
and then i would deconstruct fundamentalists for picking the bits they like and using them to start conflict, rather than following the 'true' more peaceful and liberal message of whatever religion it is. so it isn't the religion at fault, just the, erm, people who choose to use religion as a stick to beat people with. or something. so you can have strong religious beliefs, but if you have made them up, they don't really count.
(yes, taliban, i'm looking at you)
i do like a bit of picking the 'wrong' answer and making it right, though.
i'm sure you can find examples to fit - i know feck all about religion.
we have another week until half term. by then i want to be sailing calmly in the waters of study, and not angsting about being behind in every singly aspect of rl. including study. <peers out of window for airborne pigs>
Absolutely- I have already written the conclusion and said no, because lots of people with religious beliefs are supporters of liberal politics.
And yes to people picking the bits of religions that they fancy; all kinds of religion seem to be guilty of that one. ( being homosexual is bad-marrying your dead brother's wife OK
)
According to my GP everything can be cured by losing weight.
I suspect he might be right though.... <surveys lard and pointedly ignores blood pressure>. We had one that blamed everything on smoking. Everything. And if you had never had so much as a puff in your entire life, whatever was wrong with you was due to passive smoking.... He was about 93 and still working though. Presumably when he gets to 100, someone will ask him his secret, and he'll say whiskey and fags.
Don't start me on the medical 'science' thing though. We'll be here all day! Sadly that isn't one of my outstanding assignments... (although... I do have a sociology of health and illness paper that I might be able to work it into... Was going to do medicalisation of pg... <small lightbulb> ah, who knew that I'd find another paragraph when I was moaning about being fat on mn?
)
Argghhh I hate writing stupid bloody essays! Why do I put myself through this?
1600 words I need 400 more. Kick my arse and tell me to get off
mumsstupidnet.
(Have just noticed mumsnet should really have an apostrophe shouldn't it?)
Only if it is the net of mum.
HTH
I was having trouble sitting down and getting into my hour long lecture.
One of my friends has just started doing transcriptions. So I downloaded the lecture into an mp3 format and she typed it up for me.
12 a4 pages. But oh my God, so much easier.
Could pick up and put down, highlight the important bits, and go back and listen to bits and pieces without haveing to stop/start to take notes.
<Wonders if I can get her to do my essay>
I was thinking it was the net belonging to mum, but now hmm, possibly it is the net for mums and therefore no apostrophe needed.<rubs chin>
There's a sign near where I live that advertises that the shop sells-panini's <faints>
Is this getting my essay finished? Nope. Where are you arse kickers?
<KICK>
(helpful)
A shop in my town is called Kid's Classic's. I twitch when I have pass it.
<sigh> typical that I miss out a word when I'm being pernickety about someone else
Hi strawb yep, but you didn't have it made up into a metre high sign did ya?
just a typo.
Last weeks online lecture slides had a big typo:
Who's voices are heard?
I felt obliged to email the tutor to point it out.
He said thank you and advised me to cover my eyes as it was too late to change it!
IMHO it should be Mums'net the net belonging to the mums
Am not a student parent although I have been. I'd like to help you all in whatever way I can, if I may. Am good at essays, am was procrastinator, I blame it on ADD (undiagnosed except by me
(although actually do think I have it))
