Hi all, wondered if anyone has any advice on this:

A friend of mine has been married to her husband for 4 years. He has two daughters (8 and 6) from a previous relationship who live with them full time as their birth mother doesn't want to know.

Her hubby travels a lot and for long periods, where she looks after the girls full time.

Is there anyone of allowing her to become their legal guardian without adoption? Can the birth mother sign custody over to her?
