DH has his children EOW.
He's just paid to have a residence order - can someone enlighten me as to what this actually does and what the point is?

Thanks!

Do you mean paid a solicitor to help with applying for a Residence Order? You can't just buy one Confused

It is a court order which says where the child/children are to live.
Both parents have parental responsibility but the child/children live full time with the parent who has the residence order. I believe it is now called a Child Arrangement Order.
I got one 10 years ago in Wales so possibly may be different.
As it wasn't opposed I did it myself.
The other parent will be informed that the residence order has been applied for and can oppose it in court.
I got a form from the court, filled it in, took it back and paid, I think, £100.
We then got a court date quite quickly. Less than 2 months but it was a small town so possibly not much of a backlog.
I am confused. Are the children yours for whom DH has applied for a residence order ?
