Being SM to SC who lives far away?

Hi!

This is my first time posting here. I'm not looking for advice as such, more just wanting to see if there's anyone out there in a similar situation to mine.

My DH has a 6yo DD, whom I'm SM to. She lives with her mum, 200+ miles away. He spends every other weekend with her at his parents' house (has done for 4 yrs), which is relatively hear DSD's home. I go with him for every other visit (I work weekends a lot).

Just wondering if anyone has any experiences of being a SM to a SC who lives so far away? Have you managed to build a good relationship with your SC?
