Losing weight by running?

I know there are a lot of factors, but say I run 11 minute miles, how frequently and far would I have to run to lose some weight?

This might help.

The best way to lose weight is by looking at your diet. Exercise has many benefits but losing weight is not really one of them. If I ran at your speed for 5 miles I would lose under 500 cals. 55 mins of running to lose just that? It would be easier to not eat the 500 cals in the first place!!

Yes diet combined with exercise is the way to lose weight. And interval training much more effective than straight running..your muscles will soon get used to the pace of a basic run and burn less energy.
