Ear wax :/

My ears are absolutely full of the stuff. What the hell can I do to get rid of it? Would bicarbonate of soda in my ears work? I'm desperate, me ears feel really sticky and muffled.

My gp is reluctant to do anything as I had them irrigated not too long ago. I'd actually pay for this to be flushed/suctioned out! I'm based in Sunderland if anyone knows of anywhere privately nearby that does it!

Sporners will only help if you promise photos or video footage!

Should you listen to your GP's concerns? Though what does he or she say when you point out it's affecting your hearing?

Otex will soften it and then you usually get big lumps of the stuff to pull out. It's great op.

Ear drops. Read the packaging carefully, some want you to syringe the wax out after (hard work) others break it up if you apply every day for a week. If you are patient, olive oil softens it and it oozes out on its own. You have to oils daily to get rid of wax, and weekly to stop it building back up.

Olive oil worked for me after weeks of not being able to hear properly out of one of my ears.

God I love ear wax!! Always had a bizarre fascination with it, unfortunately for me I've never had much wax but DH has so I like to watch him cotton bud clean. Hopi ear candling worked well for him. He says it was a bit weird while it's happening as you hear the crackling etc but interesting to see all the gunk on the candle afterwards, he took a photo to show me Blush

I'm sure I read somewhere that hydrogen peroxide fizzes and gets rid of all the build up, I'm not brace enough to try though

Optrex and having a bath helps me - putting your head in the water for a while helps loosen it.

That's nothing, just oil it and it will be fine. Ds1 has the thickest, stickiest wax in the world and olive oil sorts that out.

I second olive oil. How long ago did you have them irrigated?

www.earwaxclinic.co.uk/earwax-clinic-locations

There's one in Darlington and one in North Shields if that helps?

They were irrigated probably about a year ago. And they only did one ear! I was off balance for days Grin

That's ages ago, I think it's not supposed to be more than every 6 months. NHS walk-in centres will syringe them for you if you've been putting oil in.

I used to get mine done annually atbthe drs. Nurse said I have little ears and lots of wax, bad combination.

Yes, otex is over the counter.
