I've just spent a very satisfying and enjoyable 20 mins watching tonsil stone videos. I even managed to get some from my own tonsils afterwards. I feel great.

Does anyone else get them?

I can poke my right tonsil without gagging but if I touch the left one I'll gag instantly. Luckily only the right side gets stones.

Yoko cotton buds are your friend.

I used to get these all the time.

I WISH I could de-stone my own tonsils. My right tonsil is permanently full of stuff, and although one might spontaneously pop out every couple of months, I just can't get near my tonsils without gagging. I even bought a lighted tool from Amazon but nope. I've been trying for years to do it.

Drives me mad!

I get them sometimes. Dug out a really big one a few months ago. Oddly satisfying.

I just use my index finger, the same side to the tonsil stones and then my iPhone torch held in the other hand.

I have saved this photo my daughter sent me of her tonsil stone (God knows why?), just for you sporners.

I'm not a sporner myself, but your threads are so bloody funny this is my way of saying thanks.

sang my eyes! That's surely visible (and smellable) from space!

What is the stuff? Is it from old infections or just like internal blackheads? I am repulsed/fascinated in equal measures.

tshirts tonsils have crypts where old food collects and calcifies (tonsil stones). If you shine a light in your mouth you might even see some of your own!

i feel sick and have spent this week trying to squeeze my abscess. It emptied and left a tiny hole in my arm. but this is grosser.

I used to use the end of a toothbrush in the days when I still had tonsils...
Has anyone seen the video of the salivary gland stone by the way? I can't post a link as the only one I know of is from that newspaper.

I think you can get rid by gargling with salt water, too, although you don't get the satisfaction of inspecting them offending item after removal...

How do you know you have them if you can't see them?

I get them pretty badly. I've just started taking oral probiotics as apparently mine are due to a bacterial imbalance - but I know part of me will miss them if they do go.
