Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 MN screenings feedback thread. NOW CLOSED

(196 Posts)
AnnMumsnet (MNHQ) Fri 11-Oct-13 12:01:17

This thread is for the Mumsnetters who attended one of the exclusive MN screenings of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 in London or Manchester with their DCs on Sunday 13th October. We hope you all had a great time and enjoyed the film!

"Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 picks up where Sony Pictures Animation’s mouth-watering comedy left off. Inventor Flint Lockwood thought he saved the world when he destroyed his most infamous invention - a machine that turned water into food causing cheeseburger rain and spaghetti tornadoes. But Flint soon learns that his invention survived and is now creating food-animals – "foodimals!" Flint and his friends embark on a dangerously delicious mission to battle hungry tacodiles, shrimpanzees, hippotatomuses, cheespiders and other foodimals to save the world – again!"

To find out more about the film (at cinemas from October 25 with previews 18, 19 & 20th) and watch the trailer, visit the Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 pages on Mumsnet

Below are a few questions for you to answer but please do add any other comments you may have.

We'd also love it if you could upload some pictures of your day to this thread.

- Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?

- What did you/your DCs think of the SUBWAY® Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 themed Kids' Pak™ that your DC received (thanks to the team at SUBWAY)?

- What was your overall experience of the screening?

I panicked when I read this as attended thinking we had missed it shock dd would have never of forgiven me.

AnnMumsnet (MNHQ) Fri 11-Oct-13 12:21:00

sorry - being all organised!

Thanks for starting the excitement on this horrid afternoon.
My DCs are so proud to be 'mumsnet testers' and keep showing me posters and ads for the movie.

I can't wait to finish work and tell my two that they have been picked
They will be SOOOOO excited
Thank you again for the opportunity

JaquelineHyde Fri 11-Oct-13 15:05:07

The DC are stupidly excited and have been telling everyone at school about their special preview!

Excellent news about the Subway as well, you just saved me having to fork out for lunch. That will tide them over until we get home. Brilliant.

My DC can't wait.. DH is now pleased as the arguing about who wants what for lunch has been eradicated thanks to the lovely folk at Subway... Just have to get up super early to get there in time now.... Eeeeeek!!!

JaquelineHyde Sat 12-Oct-13 08:58:31

Just checked and the AA is saying it's a 2 hour drive for us. So we are going to leave at 7:30am so we can stop for a McDonalds breakfast just in case we get lost.

Does anyone know how close the disabled parking is to the cinema entrance?

fuzzpig Sat 12-Oct-13 09:06:56

We are very excited! grin

TEErickOrTEEreat Sat 12-Oct-13 09:07:59

I had a moment of awe that the viewing came with a TARDIS...

fuzzpig Sat 12-Oct-13 09:08:34

BTW I wasn't quite sure about the subway thing, is that being given during the movie or after? (Just wondering because we are planning what to do with the rest of the day smile)

JacquelineHyde - are you going to Trafford Centre or London?
Trafford Centre disabled access not too bad but cinema on top floor and there is lift at entrance

Witchesbrewandbiscuits Sat 12-Oct-13 09:53:08

excited smile

Im excited too!

AnnMumsnet (MNHQ) Sat 12-Oct-13 11:35:12

fuzzpig - not 100% sure actually - sorry!

Am also v excited about meeting so many of you at the London screening: do come and say hello to me - I'll be on the door with the lovely JenniferMumsnet - both of us casting silencing stares at our DCs grin

JanineMumsnet will be your delightful host in Manchester (her hometown!)

moldingsunbeams Sat 12-Oct-13 16:54:09

If we are there a couple of minutes after ten would that be a major crisis?

Getting to the Trafford Centre by bus on a Sunday is stupidly complicated instead of a direct 15 minute journey and I am slightly worried the bus is only due to hit the Trafford Centre Station at 9.46.

You better not be all glamorous by the way or I shall actually cry.

AnnMumsnet (MNHQ) Sat 12-Oct-13 17:05:53

Arriving any time between 10 and 10.45 is fine!

Theresadogonyourballs Sat 12-Oct-13 18:15:02

Mnhq - we had an email to say we'd been selected, and I replied straight away saying yes please, but we haven't had anything else come through? I thought we were meant to be emailed a link yesterday? Am worried now as DD very excited!!

moldingsunbeams Sat 12-Oct-13 18:29:58

I got an email reminder yesterday theresadog but I did not get a link, original email just says to print it out and names will also be on a list, I know Ann definately had us on list as I had to change numbers attending earlier in week.

moldingsunbeams Sat 12-Oct-13 18:32:36

Just checked, link was just to this thread and directions Theresadog

Glamourous - snorts!
I'll be the hungover one wink

Theresadogonyourballs Sat 12-Oct-13 18:39:45

Thanks molding - I haven't had a reminder either, am paranoid my acceptance didn't get through. Will email HQ direct I think.

ChippyMinton Sat 12-Oct-13 18:44:32

Lisa I am sure even if it is that Mumsnetters will swap or move to another seat for you if they know why.

HeadFairy Sat 12-Oct-13 20:10:41

Oh so excited about going tomorrow.... It was the perfect bribe for the kids at bedtime, they were absolute angels and haven't heard a peek out of them since 7.30! Woohoo!

fuzzpig Sat 12-Oct-13 20:13:56

Are you londoning Lisa, I'll happily swap if the situation arises. I'll have a topcat bag smile

fuzzpig Sat 12-Oct-13 20:15:38

DD is still awake as they're watching strictly hmm hope she's not too tired tomorrow. Still need to finalise what route we are taking (train/tube)

AnnMumsnet (MNHQ) Sat 12-Oct-13 20:21:14

Theresadogonyourballs - just emailed you - all ok
lisad123everybodydancenow - look out for me tomorrow and I'll help you if needed.

mamatron Sat 12-Oct-13 20:38:16

DD is beyond excited about tomorrow!! Just realised I was meant to print out the very first email we were sent and our printer isn't working, don't know whether this will be a problem or not, if I don't have the print out I mean? Damn, meant to get DP to print it out at work this week.

fuzzpig Sat 12-Oct-13 21:09:46

Anyone else having trouble working out how to actually get to the cinema in Westfield?! I've never been there before, but the shopping centre hours for Sundays seem to be 12-6, the cinema bit says 11-1am so how are we actually going to get in? blush

Eek! Just realised that I forgot to print the email out and don't have a printer at home. Will the email on my phone be ok? Please say yes, otherwise I'll have a very disappointed DD on my hands or a very cross MIL for getting her up pre-8am to use her printer.

DD1 is mega excited!

HeadFairy Sat 12-Oct-13 21:18:58

Fuzzpig, I used to work opposite Westfield... The centre is open quite early, even before the shops are open. I haven't actually been to the cinema there but if you go in any one of the entrances the signs to the cinema are everywhere. It's up on the top floor of the centre.

See you there.

Ps if anyone has any specific seating requirements I'll also be happy to swap around.

fuzzpig Sat 12-Oct-13 21:23:53

Thanks head fairy - I did start a separate thread as I am being a muppet and am easily confused. What is the best tube station? Is it Stratford? Or Stratford international? Or something totally different confused

mamatron Sat 12-Oct-13 21:40:03

Fuzzpig, the screening's at Westfield Shepherd's Bush, not Stratford, so best tube stn is Shepherd's Bush on the central line. HTH

fuzzpig Sat 12-Oct-13 21:42:39

I feel we have narrowly avoided disaster grin so if shepherds bush is the best one it seems we can get the overground from clapham junction.

So now if I meet you all I will be forever known as "Fuzzpig the twerp who nearly got the wrong sodding cinema" grin

onlysettleforbutterflies Sat 12-Oct-13 21:45:45

Looking forward to the Manchester screening tomorrow , along with 3 very excited children!

moldingsunbeams Sat 12-Oct-13 21:59:11

I am guessing Ann will have a mumsnet scarf and will be attempting to smuggle in Gin in preparation for two hours with a load of other peoples kids.

Either that or she will have a big sticky name badge and will introduce herself when people arrive grin

Manchester people I will apologise in advance for dds stim of spinning, don't worry she will sit quietly once she is sat down and won't disturb film but I am anticipating the excitement, anticipation and busy place might mean she spins in the queue.

moldingsunbeams Sat 12-Oct-13 22:15:29

Valpollicella Sat 12-Oct-13 23:18:12

confused

HeadFairy Sat 12-Oct-13 23:27:51

There is free wifi at Westfield so you should be able access your emails. I will only be able to bring it on my phone as our printer is out of ink too.

ttalloo Sun 13-Oct-13 06:51:06

I'm not saying DS1 is excited, but he's been up since 6, and his first words were 'it's cloudy day!'.

Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film

Dd says the film was very very very very good and funny.
I enjoyed it too and thought the colour and graphics were lovely as well as the story.

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)
Dd gave it ten out of 5 grin

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?
Dd loved the strawberry and her favourite bit was the skinny jeans bit.

- What did your DCs love best about the day?
Dd loved the photo booth best, we didn't get to front of face painting as she can't cope with queueing.

- hat did you/your DCs think of the SUBWAY® Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 themed Kids' Pak™ that your DC received (thanks to the team at SUBWAY)?
She loves subway, she won't try the yoyo bear things though.

- What was your overall experience of the screening?
Enjoyed it very much, dd particularly enjoyed being told by two mumsnetters that they didn't think we were getting popcorn as well as the pack because when there was some she ended up with two lots (from shop and there were bags on seats)

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 to friends and family? Why?
Yes thought the story was lovely, was a film all family could watch.

moldingsunbeams Sun 13-Oct-13 12:59:14

Thanks very much for letting us go btw.

Lovescourgettes Sun 13-Oct-13 13:26:11

We all had a brilliant time thanks so much for picking us . It was so worth travelling to Shepherds Bush for. The film was great the whole family loved it and watching it in 3D made it come alive the animation was lovely.

In the opinion of the small tester the film got a 5/5. Adults agreed. It was fantastic to watch a film that was genuinely amusing.
Her favourite bit was the wedgie proof pants bit and her favourite character was Sam Sparks . Adults loved the brown crayon ..Best bit of the day was wearing the 3D glasses and watching the film . Dd enjoyed her subway meal and the bag was especially handy for putting all her goodies into.
The whole day was wonderful we would recommend the film to anyone plus the cinema we went to was brilliant . We want to go back there really soon to see more things in 3D . Thanks so much MM Towers .

HeadFairy Sun 13-Oct-13 13:27:20

Thanks so much for letting us go today, we were planning a cinema trip anyway as the weather is shocking but this was extra special!

Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film - dis says "the film is about a man that tries to wipe out all the foodimals when they're really nice"

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest) - dh and I reckon it's worth at least 4 stars out of five, ds says 900 million. I guess that means he liked it!

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why? -ds's favourite part was the "piece of cake" moment and he loved the main guy Flint. Dd loved Barry the Berry.

- What did your DCs love best about the day? Both agree the film was the best bit but they also both loved the balloon modellers who were lovely!

- What did you/your DCs think of the SUBWAY® Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 themed Kids' Pak™ that your DC received (thanks to the team at SUBWAY)? Both liked the Capri Sun, ds loved the fruit roll ups, neither liked the sandwiches as neither like lettuce. Dh and I enjoyed them very much grin

- What was your overall experience of the screening? Loved the whole day, really enjoyable.

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 to friends and family? Why? Definitely recommend it, it was really entertaining, very funny and the 3D was fantastic. The creativity that went in to all the foodimals was brilliant! Loved the whole world they'd created.

Thanks so much!!

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)
Me: 4 stars DC 1: 5 DC2: 3( she said it was scary .... she thinks all films are scary)

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?
"The hero. He was brave"

- What did your DCs love best about the day?
The film - but the popcorn and face painting came close second

- What did you/your DCs think of the SUBWAY® Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 themed Kids' Pak™ that your DC received (thanks to the team at SUBWAY)?
Disappointed - they wanted cheese,, turned out they got ham (eldest DC:" i don't like Subway.". But loved the fruit leather and drink.

- What was your overall experience of the screening?
Excellent. Would have been better if I wasn't suffering my worst hangover in years. But it says a lot about the experience that I enjoyed it even in this state!

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 to friends and family? Why?
Yes. Fun, silly film, loved the names of the foodimals, liked the themes/messages of the film, kids enjoyed it.

moldingsunbeams Sun 13-Oct-13 14:03:52

I too thought the foodimals were fantastic
I too enjoyed the subway sandwich.

We had a melt down on the way back because sen dds poster in the back had the smallest rip in it but otherwise a fantastic day.

ChippyMinton Sun 13-Oct-13 14:13:28

Thanks MNHQ, and especially the ever lovely AnnMumsnet <waves>

- Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film

"It was most surpising, with the animals being friendly and not scary monsters."

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest) 5 stars all round!

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why? DS2 - Tim, the dad, fishing with the pickles was funny. DD loved the marshmallows helping out Flint. We had fun on the way home trying to name the foodimals - tacodile, flamango, hipotato, meatballrus etc. Very clever.

- What did your DCs love best about the day? Everything especially the movie! They were quite taken with the scale of Westfield too. The photobooth was fun, a nice souvenir.

- What did you/your DCs think of the SUBWAY® Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 themed Kids' Pak™ that your DC received (thanks to the team at SUBWAY)? It was 'nice' - the fruit yoyos went down well.

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 to friends and family? Why? Yes definately, there was plenty of action and wit.

- Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film

A great morning - we want to watch it again.

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 to friends and family? Why?
Yes, would recommend it highly - we all enjoyed it, which is not always the case with kids' movies.

Who can resist a film with characters that are 'flamangos', 'shrimpanzees', 'tacodiles' and 'hippotatoes'?
Our favourite line was "Stand back! I'm going to cut the cheese!"

gazzalw Sun 13-Oct-13 14:37:48

Rated 5* from the Gazzalw Family. We all chortled heartily :-).

We were busy trying to blow Mumsnetters' cover but failed spectacularly! Lovely to meet AnnMumsnet too.

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to go and kick-start DD' s birthday celebrations.

Berry was flavour of the month for us, particularly when he was interpreting!

Thank you for the children's Subway lunch packs. Our two very much enjoyed them and loved the souvenir lunch bags so thank you.

Yes we would recommend it particularly to families with tweets. It went down very well for us.

PigeonStreet Sun 13-Oct-13 14:59:53

We had a fabulous time at the screening.
The dcs had an amazing time from the minute we got there.
In terms of a review of the film "fun action packed funny Adventure where food comes alive" that's from Ds (9).
They both loved the funny foodimals. Dd loved Barry, Ds loved the pickles and I loved Steve.

Dd and Ds loved the subway packs. Dd has been using hers as a handbag. The ham sandwiches were demolished in seconds.

We would definitely recommend the film to others and would give it a solid 5 stars!

Thankyou so much mn for a wonderful morning.

The screening was run very well, the staff were lovely and patient with the children which really helped prepare the children got the film, I would defiantly recommend the film, in fact I already have as have been tweeting what such a great time we had. Especially as the film catered for me too as there were lots of laughs for me too

Thank you

- Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film
A fun trip back to Swallow Falls, with lots of new faces along the way

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)
DD - 4/5, DP 3/5, me 4/5

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?
DD- all of it! Barry Berry - cheeky & very cute
DP- the bit at Live corp & also the celebration in a box that he set off over his dad. No favourite character
DS- liked the foodimals & waving his 3d glasses up & down over his eyes (he's 2!) - little Flint is his favourite as he thinks its him!
Me- Tim bonding with the Pickles or the marshmallows were my favourite bits and my favourite is Steve but I felt he didn't get enough screen time on his own like last time

- What did your DCs love best about the day?
DD - all of it but mostly the film
DS - the film & taking his glasses off & on - the 3d definately fascinated him

- What did you/your DCs think of the SUBWAY® Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 themed Kids' Pak™ that your DC received (thanks to the team at SUBWAY)?
Love the bags (& thank you for letting DD swap hers!) ds liked his juice & yoyo bear thing & dd liked the sandwich but would have liked to choose her veg

- What was your overall experience of the screening?
Really enjoyed ourselves - it was well organised with enough activities to keep children entertained & not too crammed in the cinema. We've had a really lovely time - thank you for letting us come. DD said that she likes the MN things that we go on as they always make you feel 'important'

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 to friends
Yes - the script isn't as witty as the first one but if you have seen that then this a good follow up on what happened to Flint & friends. DD will be recommending it to her friends in school!

Thatsinteresting Sun 13-Oct-13 15:22:34

'Really funny film'

Dd (5) gave the film 5 stars. She found the film funny, there were some scary parts but within what she's comfortable with. With typical 5 year old humour she liked the strawberry poo'ing jam. I like simple jokes and enjoyed the leek on the boat. My favourite character was the monkey, Steve (but that might be due to my love of Eddie Izzard), I would definitely recommend this film. It's great family viewing.

Dd really enjoyed her Subway but I think that was more because it contained an activity sheet and stickers. She did eat it all but the veggie option wasn't very exciting.

We had a great morning. Dd particularly enjoyed getting her photo taken. I felt that it could have been organised a little better, for example the cinema staff weren't aware if we got popcorn or where it was. The children didn't notice though and would gladly do it all again tomorrow.

EstoyAqui Sun 13-Oct-13 15:37:26

Massive thank you from DD and I. We had a lovely day and really enjoyed meeting some other Mumsnetters.

Thank you to both Subway for the delicious food and Sony for arranging a trailer free screening. We had a super day.

Summing up the film I'd say: Fiendish food is family friendly after all.

- I would give the film 5 of 5 as despite being a kids film there was enough to keep me laughing along. DD would also give it 5 as the characters were cute.

- DD enjoyed when Berry was translating. She was also excited when the party in a box exploded at the end. She has been doing a mean impression of Monkey/Steve when he was electrocuted. I think it captured her imagination.

- DD was most impressed with the green screen photo booth. She would have been having her picture taken all day were it not for the other lovely distractions.

- DD loved the subway. She was disappointed she couldn't have olives on hers though! I thought the little bags were really cute and it was nice that the designs didn't give away the film's plot.

- We loved the screening. It was fun and the balloon guy was amusing. The staff were really helpful and friendly with the kids. I even managed to get an extra subway to take home for my DS. Thank you again Subway.

- I would definitely recommend the film to friends and family. It was entertaining and had me laughing out loud. I enjoyed searching for all the hidden references to other films. The 3D worked really well with the attacking food.

Parents 3.5 stars, DC give it 4.5

Parents liked the Jurassic park foodimals, and Tim.

Getting to see the movie before all their friends.

- What did you/your DCs think of the SUBWAY® Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 themed Kids' Pak™ that your DC received (thanks to the team at SUBWAY)?
The DC are 11 & 13 so not overly impressed.

Good fun but all the activities where for younger kids, but we enjoyed the film.

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 to friends and family? Why?
Yes, kids enjoyed it and it wasn't irritating for adults like some kids films, Chipmunks anyone?

Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film
Great family fun for all ages and even better than the first Cloudy

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)
Both DC gave it 5 out of 5

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?
DS aged 7 Favourite part of the film was when somebody said there's a leak in the boat and it was really a LEEK! Favourite character is Steve who is a very funny monkey
- What did your DCs love best about the day?
They both liked eating popcorn and were impressed with the balloons. They haven't been to a 3D showing for quite a while and thought it was very good.

- What did you/your DCs think of the SUBWAY® Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 themed Kids' Pak™ that your DC received (thanks to the team at SUBWAY)?
Neither DC liked the subway meal other than the drink. They wouldn't eat salad on a sandwich and didn't like the ham. Also they wanted cheese but there wasn't any.

- What was your overall experience of the screening?
We had a wonderful morning - the activities were great and they loved their photo.

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 to friends and family? Why?
The DC both really liked the film, I thought it was OK, not as offensive as some children's films but doesn't have the underlying adult humour which some films have.

Here are the rest of the photos!

- Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film
A film that both Children and Adults can enjoy

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)
4*

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?
DD loved any scene with the Strawberry in (this may have been because she had a balloon Strawberry and the character on her face!). I liked all the silly jokes, because I'm a big kid. There were a few scenes that my DD thought would be scary, but by the end of the scene she was loving the characters.

- What did your DCs love best about the day?
It's hard to pick her favourite part, from the face painting to walking in to free popcorn and the 'biggest bottle of water she has ever seen', and not having any 'boring adverts' to a really fun film. It was a great day.

- What did you/your DCs think of the SUBWAY® Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 themed Kids' Pak™ that your DC received (thanks to the team at SUBWAY?
DD asks to go to subway every single weekend, so she was made up with the free sub (so was my wallet!)

- What was your overall experience of the screening?
Brilliant fun, especially with the balloon makers which made the small queues seem to go very quickly

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 to friends and family? Why?
Definitely, in the same way as films like Despicable Me it isn't something for parents to endure, they can enjoy it

Sharonmanc Sun 13-Oct-13 16:23:06

dont know what happened before , posted 3 times and the picture did not upload, so here are our pictures, again thank you MN

What a brilliant film! I would give it 5 stars and so would Ds. Ds loved the man in tue chicken suit and I liked the cheese helmet bit (chortle). Ds says the best bit after the film was the 3d glasses, his balloon strawberry and his hippo arm tattoo. The subway food was delicious. Overall it was an amazing day out and I would definitely recommend the film to friends. The 3d was amazing as was the plot. Thanks for the brilliant treat!

Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film
A fabulous film for all ages packed with fun and foodimals!

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest) All 3 DC give it 5 stars and I would give it 4 stars.

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?
Favourite character all round is Berry (the strawberry) mainly because he reminded us of DS2 who is 5 months old.
The DD's favourite part was when Berry was translating and DS can't name just one favourite part he reels off several every time I ask and then just says all of it was my favourite.

- What did your DCs love best about the day?
They all say the film was the best part of the day (I think this is mainly because they queued for ages for balloons and face painting but ended up without either because there wasn't enough time)

- What did you/your DCs think of the SUBWAY® Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 themed Kids' Pak™ that your DC received (thanks to the team at SUBWAY)?
None of them liked the sandwich as they appeared to have forgotten to put any cheese in them, so really were just salad sandwiches. They liked the drink and fruit roll and they all love the bags they came in.

- What was your overall experience of the screening?
We had a really lovely time watching the film and managed to get our photos taken (I will upload in a while) which I absolutely love. The DC were a little upset that they didn't get any balloon characters or get their faces painted as the queues were too long. The face painting was taking ages, we stood for 25 mins in a queue and only 2 children got painted (there were another 3 in front of us and similar queues at the other 3 face painters)). The balloons were much quicker but again we had to go into the cinema before we got to the front so missed out on everything. I did notice that some children had more than one balloon character and were queuing for a second face painting so maybe 1 of each per child can be specified for future events. We were 10 mins late because we couldn't find the cinema so maybe that 10 mins made all the difference? All the staff were amazingly friendly and helpful.

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 to friends and family? Why?
Yes and I already have. It's a great film especially in 3D, the children loved it and I was amazed at some of the graphics and well thought out mixes of food and animals.

- Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film
Colourful and imaginative fun film, suitable for all the family.

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)
I'd give it 3, DD said 5.

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?
My favourite bit was the greedy gherkins looking for sardines and learning to fish. Dd loved all the different foodimals, they were so creative and colourful.

- What did your DCs love best about the day?
We arrived a bit late so she only had chance to have her face painted. She really liked that though and the face painter was amazing!

- What did you/your DCs think of the SUBWAY® Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 themed Kids' Pak™ that your DC received (thanks to the team at SUBWAY)?
She really enjoyed it and I would definitely take her to subway for a kids meal. Much healthier than most high street food places. She didn't eat the strawberry yoyo thing due to an allergy but I did. It was horrible and rubbery.

- What was your overall experience of the screening?
It was lots of fun

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 to friends and family? Why?
Yes I would. It certainly kept my Dd entertained! I would recommend they ate well before going, my tummy was rumbling watching the foodimals.

moldingsunbeams Sun 13-Oct-13 17:09:51

Thanks for a fab morning - we had so much fun!
To sum up the film in one sentence - action packed fun!
We would all give it 4/5
DD loved Berry the best and her favourite part was when he was running away with the USB stick.
Dh and I both liked Steve best.
DD not keen on salad or cheese, but DH said her Subway pack was delicious! She liked the drink and sticker.
DD loved getting a balloon monkey - but just to echo an earlier poster, there did seem to be kids with 2 or 3 balloon animals each, who were still hanging round the balloon artist, while other, quieter kids didn't get one at all. Perhaps a clear, 'one balloon each, then let others to the front' policy might be good?
DD's favourite part of the day was the movie - her first experience of 3d!
I would definitely recommend the movie to family and friends.
Thanks again, it was great!

DD and I had a wonderful morning at Westfield Shepherd's Bush, thanks so much MN smile

Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film
'A funny film about food, friendship and inventing' - DD

Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)
DD says, '4 stars', I'll give it 4 also ( always room for improvement!!)

DD 'liked it when Barry and Steve saved the day'. Her favourite character is Steve because, 'he's very funny and has a good sense of humour!'

DD loved having her arm painted by the face painter, who was amazing, as was the balloon lady who made DD a Steve the Monkey.

DD liked the Subway (but not enough to finish it!), because 'it included salad which Is healthy'. She didn't like the Capri sun so much so was grateful for the water when we got to our seats. The bag came in handy for carrying all her bits and pieces. I really enjoyed the posh popcorn!

The overall experience was great, DD was lucky in that she didn't have to wait too long for face painting, balloon animals or getting her picture taken. Arriving early is obviously advantageous. The film was amusing enough for adults aswell as children and I enjoyed the overall message of friendship and co-operation. Will definitely recommend the film to friends and family.

Thanks again MN!

fuzzpig Sun 13-Oct-13 18:01:40

Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film

Fantastic fun-filled family fayre.

Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)

DS1 5/5
DS2 5/5
Parents 5/5

What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?

Our favourite character was Flint's Dad, we enjoyed the fishing trip with the Pickles!

What did your DCs love best about the day?

The DC really enjoyed the film more than anything. The 3-D presentation of film really held their attention for the entire film. Which is no mean feat.

What did you/your DCs think of the SUBWAY® Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 themed Kids' Pak™ that your DC received (thanks to the team at SUBWAY)?

Thanks for the pack, the colouring and stickers went down a storm. Unfortunately when we opened the sandwiches they weren't cheese as specified so the DC wouldn't eat them. The drink and fruit roll did go down well.

What was your overall experience of the screening?

Two incredibly happy children, therefore two incredibly happy parents. Thanks Mumsnet!

If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 to friends and family? Why?

Yes, we would highly recommend the film simply because it's the best children's film we've seen this year by far!

Mominatrix Sun 13-Oct-13 18:05:21

First, I just wanted to thank Mumsnet Towers for picking us to attend this event. It was extremely well organized, packed full of fun, and enjoyed by all - and all this before the film even started.

- The Mominatrix family gives this film an enthusiastic 3 thumbs up. It was imaginative and funny film with a lovely message about friendship and loyalty which could be enjoyed by all age groups.

- I'd give the film a 4 out of 5.

- DC favourite character was Barry because he was funny, cute, engaging, and he like the interaction he had with Sam. His favourite part of the film was when the inventor's father was teaching the pickles how to fish. Other DC's favourite character was Steve because he was very funny, and he likes monkeys. His favourite part of the film was when Barry turned into an Enforcer.

- One DS's favourite bit of the day was the film, and the other DS couldn't decide between the film and the amazing balloon art.

- Both children really liked their lunch packs, and finished everything which was inside.

- My overall experience of the event was extremely positive, and the only complaint I had was that it would have been nice to have an additional face painter.

- I definitely will reccommend the film to friends. It is original, funny, engaging, and lovely film for all the family to enjoy.

moldingsunbeams Sun 13-Oct-13 18:17:19

JaquelineHyde We were there at five to ten so early and gave up on the face painting and balloon queue because people were rejoining it for further balloons and facepaintings when they had one.

Dd who has sen and is rule driven has actually got in trouble for being ungrateful and whinging about it all afternoon and ended up being really told off before we left shopping centre.

But we had an amazing time and we managed to get a photo so am thankful.

Godlessdomestic Sun 13-Oct-13 18:17:55

Wow... we've just got home as we took advantage of being nearby & whizzed up to town too... Have an exhausted DD who had 'just the best' day. Thank you so much for choosing us to come along - the balloon modellers / picture guys / face painters and givers of coffee were all just wonderful. We have only been to the Westfield Centre once before but will definitely go again.

Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? 5/5 from me - 4/5 from DH

How many would your DC give it? 5/5

What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? She liked the bit where Sam Sparks makes friends with the Cheese spider. DH & I liked the brown crayon bit grin

Who is their favourite character and why. Sam Sparks is DD favourite (along with Steve - who doesn't love Steve?).

What did your DCs love best about the day? She loved having her picture taken (and going to Harrods - but that isn't really relevant is it?).

What did you/your DCs think of the SUBWAY® Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 themed Kids' Pak™ that your DC received (thanks to the team at SUBWAY)? She loved the pack - enjoyed all of it apart from the tomato in the sandwich..

- What was your overall experience of the screening? Wonderful, really well organised, the popcorn was lush, comfy seats & no adverts!!

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 to friends and family? Why? Definitely, it's a wonderful family film - the recap at the beginning is useful if you haven't seen the 1st one. I would recommend you stay through the credits too :-)

Just one disappointment - we didn't get an activity pack&mini poster - but that is just the smallest blip on a massively fabulous morning. Thank-you again.

moldingsunbeams Sun 13-Oct-13 18:20:00

I am not being at all ungrateful btw, we had a lovely time and really enjoyed it but might be something to bear in mind for future events given they had such a short time to paint and such before the movie.

Firstly, a HUGE thanks to everyone for an amazing day!

- Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film

The food turns into animals...yummy!

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)

My husband and I give it 5 and the kids gave it 5 too!

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?

My eldest (6 years) loved the scream when they found Barry the Strawberry...he was keen to re-enact it!! His favourite character is the Burger Spider because he can make cheese webs.

My youngest (2 years) was in love with Barry the Strawberry...any scene with him in she loved. When I asked her, she said "he is very cute"!

- What did your DCs love best about the day?

My son said the best part of the day was the film itself, my daughter loved the balloon monkey she was given!

- What did you/your DCs think of the SUBWAY® Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 themed Kids' Pak™ that your DC received (thanks to the team at SUBWAY)?

It was a lovely surprise for them. We eat Subway a lot as a family when we are out, so the kids were a bit disappointed that they couldn't choose their own salad. It is a nice change to other well known fast food, and the kids bags are great. My daughter has a number of sandwich handbags! Would have been nice to have some adult subs too ;-)

- What was your overall experience of the screening?

Excellent. My husband is visually impaired and the staff were able to arrange seating that would suit him. It was great to have the popcorn and drink ready in our seats...delicious popcorn too! Also, the kids enjoyed the fact that the movie started straight away, no adverts.

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 to friends and family? Why?

Absolutely, great film, with some hilarious moments! It also provided some great conversation in the car on the way home about friendship. My son has said that he is going to school tomorrow to tell everybody to watch it.

Godlessdomestic Sun 13-Oct-13 18:28:27

nopanicandverylittleanxiety Sun 13-Oct-13 18:40:41

Thank you so much - both of my DS's really enjoyed the day.

Imaginative family movie with lots of lovable characters and humour.

I gave it 4 out of 5. My 5 and 6 year old DSs really enjoyed it and both say it was 5 out of 5.

My 5 year old DS's favourite character was Steve the Monkey because he is funny.

My 6 year old DSs favourite character was Barry the Strawberry because he a tiny hero who stole a robot suit. His close second favourite were the pickles because they were a bit naughty.

Both of my DS's enjoyed all of the activities but say their favourite part was watching the film.

They also enjoyed the subway pak. Particularly the bag and sticker.

The screening was well organised but nice and relaxed. Everyone working their was lovely and welcoming , particularly with my shy 5 year old. It was a lovely Sunday morning treat. We went to play factore afterwards, but they say their best treat of the day was definitely the screening.

I will definitely recommend Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 to all of my friends with young children as my boys absolutely loved it.

JustOneMoreBite Sun 13-Oct-13 18:57:18

DD1 and I also had a lot of fun today! Thanks so much to Mumsnet and Sony.

One sentence review: Funny and fun!

My rating: 4, DD's rating: 5

Her favourite character was Barry the berry, and we both loved the bit where Barry translated Flint's speech to the foodimals.

Favourite bit of the day was getting to our seats, looking through all the goodies and trying on our 3D glasses. This was the first time either of us had been to a 3D film, so it was pretty exciting. I wasn't sure if DD would cope with the glasses and the effects, but she really enjoyed it all the way through.

She loved the subway bag. Didn't eat much of the sandwich, though - I think all the lettuce put her off it.

Overall experience was really good. She was a bit disappointed that she didn't actually get to take part in any of the activities. We started queuing for face painting as soon as we arrived but didn't quite get to the front before we had to go into the screening. Was partly my fault as we missed our train and arrived a bit late.

Would definitely recommend the film - good entertainment for everyone.

LackaDAISYcal Sun 13-Oct-13 19:01:08

- Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film

Food on the rampage isn't as nasty as we are led to believe

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)

I would give it 4.5, on the basis that Live Corp appeared to have stolen one of Flynn's inventions (the frozen spray thing) yet there wasn't any mention of this/challenge of it (or if there was I missed it!)

DS1 says 4.5 and DS2 says 5

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?

Mine when the bananostrich lay down so that one of the bad guys could slip on it; I think I let out the loudest chuckle blush
DS1 the escape scene after the foodimals had been let out
DS2 the tacodile scene

- What did your DCs love best about the day?

The film, though DS2 liked getting the ballons made; he got a Barry and is planning on cuddling him on bed tonight!

- What did you/your DCs think of the SUBWAY® Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 themed Kids' Pak™ that your DC received (thanks to the team at SUBWAY)?

I thought the bags were great, and there was a nice healthy meal inside, though I have had a kids meal in subway before but there was no merchandising inspite of the posters/advertising in the shop much to DCs disappointment; they do love their plastic tat!
DS1 wasn't impressded with the contents, but he is 11 and impossible to please, so I wouldn't be overly worried about that if I were subway!
DS2 had finished everything before we even went in to the theatre...says it all really!

- What was your overall experience of the screening?

The queues were a bit long, but we waited till they had cleared and didn't need to wait at all for the photobooth or balloon modelling. Face painting was busiest, so we just didn't bother. If Dd had been with us, we would have had to wait! Even though we were one of the last groups into the cinema there was still quite a wait before it started and my youngest got a bit bored at that; but it was straight into the film, no adverts which was good! the photo thing was clever; the photo is a good memento of the day.

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 to friends and family? Why?

Yes, definitely; it's a really good all round family film, colourful and witty with something for everyone and jokes that work on several levels.

Altogether a brilliant trip out smile

LackaDAISYcal Sun 13-Oct-13 19:16:26

A one sentence review of the film
"I thought it was really fun and I loved all the food monsters especially Barry" - dd6
She gave it 28 stars out of 5, we thought 4 out of 5.
Her favourite scene was where the baby marshmallows are made and Barry was her favourite character. We loved all the silly puns like the leek in the boat, also loved the car that ran on cute! If only!
Best bit was the film itself but we did love the face painting and balloon animals and the photo booth.
The subway bag was a big hit but tbh dd1 didnt love the sub itself - doesnt like meat in sandwiches though so thats just her.
Everyone was so friendly and nice - we had tickets for 3 of us but our babysitter for dd2 who is just 1 was poorly so didn't think I'd be able to go into the film with dh and dd1 but the lovely mumsnet lady arranged for me to have her on my knee. She loved it too - clapped when the movie started, thought the 3d glasses were hilarious and then peacefully fed herself to sleep -result!
I'd recommend the film to anyone, child or adult without hesitation, funny, inventive and no really scary bits.
Thank you mumsnet!

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? DS's reckon it gets a gazillion stars. DH & I give it 4 out 5.

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?
DH & I liked Earl, the DS's Steve. Steve is funny!

- What did your DCs love best about the day? They loved the balloon models and the whole cinema experience. Both were mesmerised by the 3D.

- What did you/your DCs think of the SUBWAY® Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 themed Kids' Pak™ that your DC received (thanks to the team at SUBWAY)? They loved the whole pack, although DS1 wouldn't touch the sub because it had "green and red stuff in it" - not keen on lettuce or tomato! They really liked the fruit yo-yos and thought they were sweets!

- What was your overall experience of the screening? Well organised, lovely venue, nice to have adults catered for too.

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 to friends and family? Why? Yes, we'd recommend it for families. It's a feel-good film with lots of fun.

DearHusband Sun 13-Oct-13 20:12:21

DD1 (7yrs) gave the film 1055/5. Which I believe means she liked it. Her favourite character was the Tacodile Supreme and she liked the screaming leek in the boat.

DS (5yrs) gave the film 5/5. Which I belive means he understood the question.
DD2 is asleep. DS loved the cheese spider which is why his favourite bit was when the guy got eaten.

DS2 (3yrs) enjoyed it, although I think she found the darknesss before the film started a little scary. Being 3 she's a little noncommital about numbers.

They all loved the balloon animals and face painting. And although they didn't want their picture taken initially they were very impressed with the final 'movie poster' they got.

The film was great, plenty in there to amuse adults as well as kids of all ages.

The Subway packs got a mixed reception. The crayons and poster were enjoyed by all three, but the sandwichs were picked over and they didn't like the fruit treats at all. The drinks were fine but they struggled with the straws. Perhaps if we'd been buying the bags and so had a choice of sandwich filling and treats they'd have been enjoyed a bit more.

I'd recommend the film as good family entertainment.

moldingsunbeams Sun 13-Oct-13 20:17:59

sen dd now wants a Barry the Strawberry teddy and apparently must have one because otherwise she wont be able to sleep hmm [cries]

JaquelineHyde Sun 13-Oct-13 20:31:38

Moldingsunbeams So glad it wasn't just me grin Sorry DD got into trouble, if it makes you feel any better I had to have a talk with the dc about being grateful for getting a ticket at all when there are lots of people who didn't get picked to go.

I suppose life must feel really hard when you are little and you see other children all around you with faces and arms painted and several balloon models, whilst you have nothing sad However, I hadn't realised the movie was in 3D and had told the DC it wasn't so when they got handed their glasses they were over the moon grin

All in all it was an fantastic day and we shall be applying again whenever MN does the next one and hopefully we will get picked for that one too grin

ChocolateMama Sun 13-Oct-13 20:49:09

Thank you thank you thank you Mumsnet Towers and Sony for a really rather fabulous event!!!

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5is highest and 1 is lowest)

Five stars all the way in our family - we loved it.

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?

Haha, the children loved the 'skidpants' bit, and we loved the wonderful ending (won't give it away for those who want to go and see it...wink

The familys favourite character was Flint - he was pretty cool.

- What did your DCs love best about the day?
My children loved everything about the day - and actually said that only Christmas day could top it!!! Some praise indeed. They loved the monkey balloons that the clever balloon artists made for them. The Subway bags were fantatic. They ate everything, and when they got home were able to use the suprisingly strong bags that the food came in to store their lego.

They had their Smokey pictures taken, as we got their quite early and the queues were not too long.

- What did you/your DCs think of the SUBWAY® Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 themed Kids' Pak™ that your DC received (thanks to the team at SUBWAY)?

Oop, answered above. The loved it. Preferred it to the McDonalds equivalent (and I did too - we have never had a children's meal bag from Subway but will definitely do so in future). The bags that the meal came in are great for storing bits and pieces and really colourful and attractive.

- What was your overall experience of the screening?
Fantastic, and as I said above, it could only be bettered by Christmas according to the children.

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 to friends and family? Why?

Definitely recommend it. It was a great film that all the family can enjoy together. There was something to keep all ages amused - which is pretty hard to achieve.

- Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film.

Jurassic Park meets Fast Food on fast forward.

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)

DS and DD said 5. DH 3 and I said 4. I actually thought it was better than the original film. I loved the fact that it was really original.

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?

DS loved the Tacodile and did his impression of it for the rest of the day (although without the spitting out of food thank goodness). DD loved the strawberry. I loved Flint's Dad and the gherkins going fishing. DH thought the mosquitoasts were inspired.

- What did your DCs love best about the day?

Both enjoyed the film the best. DD liked the strawberry 'tattoo' she got on her arm, and howled when we had to wash it off at bath time.

- What did you/your DCs think of the SUBWAY® Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 themed Kids' Pak™ that your DC received (thanks to the team at SUBWAY)?

They both really loved the packs, although DS being a fussy so and so didn't like the sandwich. DD ate them both grin

- What was your overall experience of the screening?

Very good. Only complaint was that we were pointed towards coffee, but there was no one there when we went to get it. Thankfully we had a Costa to hand (it had been an early start to get there!)

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 to friends and family? Why?

Yes. The film was funny and imaginative and had enough humour to keep the adults interested and make the children laugh. Both mini Naans who are 4 years apart enjoyed it and it kept them interested all the way through.

orangeplum Sun 13-Oct-13 21:13:17

Thank you very much for selecting us to attend the preview. We all loved it. DC says it was a fab film with lots of action that made me laugh out loud!

I would rate it 5/5 and my DC would give it 10 stars out of 5 if allowed.

DCa favourite bit of the film was when the cheeseburger spider jumped out and scared the characters, especially Brent, their favourite character was Chester V as he was a bit nutty!

The best part of the day was the movie, the photo booth and the balloon modeller. The photos are a great souvenir of a special day out. Thanks!

My DCs liked the Subway pack and the bags they came in. They weren't so keen on the lettuce though!

Our overall impression of the screening was great so a big thanks to both Mumsnet and Sony.

We would definitely recommend the film as it was enjoyable for both kids and adults and my DCs are off to tell their friends at school about it in the morning.

Thanks again for a great morning.

mrspink27 Sun 13-Oct-13 21:31:52

Finally have got the chance to post after returning home and finishing off about a billion pieces of homework with the DDs...

Thanks to all at MN and Sony for a lovely event.

- Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film.
Sequel film, well produced, great animation and memorable characters and storyline.

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)
DD1 11 - 4
DD2 9 - 4
DH - 3.5 said he wasnt sure about it but enjoyed the subtle jokes.
Me - 4 liked the references to other films e.g Jurassic Park

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?

DD1 and I liked the vegetables especially the cucumbers and the leek... really clever names.
DD2 liked Steve... really appeals to her sense of humour.
DH liked Flint's Dad (especially the fishing scenes with the cucumbers!)

- What did your DCs love best about the day?

DDs loved being part of a "special" screening and the freedom to wander in the little private area and the extra activities like the amazing face painters...

- What did you/your DCs think of the SUBWAY® Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 themed Kids' Pak™ that your DC received (thanks to the team at SUBWAY)?

They both really loved the packs, but DD1 wasnt impressed with the "plastic cheese"! fussy wotsit DH enjoyed it though grin. Useful bags for days out as well.

- What was your overall experience of the screening?

Very good. A great and special way to spend a dreary Sunday with the family. Really well organised and lots of time to chill before the film and fun stuff for the DDs to do surrounded by lots of other DCs and their families. Lovely touches like the special popcorn, bottomless coffee and super event staff.

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 to friends and family? Why?

Yes. A decent sequel with a good story and some really clever touches. A good underlying message about friendship and eco issues as well. Subtle humour throughout.

LackaDAISYcal Sun 13-Oct-13 21:51:47

Yes Mrspink; I loved the nods to other films; jurassic park, king kong, avatar, jaws amongst others!

idleweiss Sun 13-Oct-13 22:43:59

Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film
An enjoyable second helping of crazy food fun and mayhem for all the family!

Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it?
My DD said she would give it 3 or 4 stars, I would give it 3. smile

What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?
My DD had lots of favourite parts! She said she thought ot was funny when Barry the Strawberry gets scared and poos out the key he swallowed in a plop of jam! She also liked it when some chesse gets cut and makes a fart noise, the 'leek' in the car joke and also the scene when they are going through the jungle and see all the foodimals like the flamangos and shrimpanzees, and the double bacon cheesespider!

Barry was her favourite character. smile

What did your DCs love best about the day?
She loved everything! when I asked her she listed the photo booth, the kids pak and stickers, the popcorn and of course being in the cinema!

What did you/your DCs think of the SUBWAY® Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 themed Kids' Pak™ that your DC received (thanks to the team at SUBWAY)?
My DD really enjoyed her Kids Pak meal, she thought it was a real treat. She was very pleased with her stickers & little themed bag and now wants to use it to take her lunch to nursery. She was happy there was a Bear YoYo in it as she loves them and wolfed down her sandwich and juice in seconds! smile

What was your overall experience of the screening?
We both found the 3D a bit off putting (My DD kept saying she wanted to take her glasses of as her eyes felt funny and mine hurt a little!) and would have found watching the film in 2D better. Apart from that we had a great time, good atmosphere, lots of popcorn and a bit of a giggle. A fun morning in all! smile

If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 to friends and family? Why?
I would recommend it to family & friends if they were looking for a good bit of silly fun. It may not be the things that classics are made of but it is worth a watch.

Flapdoodles Sun 13-Oct-13 22:46:09

Thank you Mumsnet and Sony for arranging this.

Colourful, well produced, fun, imaginative film for all the family.

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)
All four of us give it at 5.

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?
DS liked the cheeseburger, both when we thought it was nasty and when it was nice.
DD and DDs friend liked the strawberry because it was "cute"
I liked Steve the monkey and I liked the crayon joke.

- What did your DCs love best about the day?
They loved all of it.

- What did you/your DCs think of the SUBWAY® Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 themed Kids' Pak™ that your DC received (thanks to the team at SUBWAY)?
We have been to Subway before so my 2 loved the sandwiches. There were bits of salad they were not happy with but all 3 children just picked off the bits they did not want.

- What was your overall experience of the screening?
The staff were smiley and could not do enough (the balloon modeller in particular spent time making jokes and chatting and kept the children entertained). The face painting was fab and I loved the photo, a lovely momento. All in all a great trip to the cinema and a fantastic way to spend dreary Sunday.

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 to friends and family? Why?
Yes I would. It is good family fun and I liked the quick reminder at the beginning of what happened in the first film .

idleweiss Sun 13-Oct-13 22:46:36

idleweiss Sun 13-Oct-13 22:50:44

- Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film:
Wittier, funnier, foodier than the first.

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)
DS1 (6 yrs): 5 stars
DS2 (5 yrs): 10 stars (because it was brilliant)
DH: 4 stars
Me: 4 stars

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?
DCs both loved Strawbarry - the bit where he poo-ed the key out as jam was their favourite (although led to some debate afterwards, as DS2 thought that he had vomited it - we will need to get the DVD in due course to settle the argument). DH and I both loved the Steve Jobs-esque Chester V. DH also loved the sardine-eating pickles, and their interaction with Flint's dad. And the end credits were well worth staying on for - very witty and clever. Even the DCs, who normally want to bolt from the cinema as the end credits roll, in case we get locked in, were happy to stay for them.

- What did your DCs love best about the day?
They loved the film, and also being part of a special launch event, especially the balloon modelling. They've been looking forward to it for weeks, and are now looking forward to going to school tomorrow and telling their friends all about it.

- What did you/your DCs think of the SUBWAY® Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 themed Kids' Pak™ that your DC received (thanks to the team at SUBWAY)?
They liked the YoYo Bears, and the CapriSun drink (although I think that an Innocent smoothie would have been a better fit), but they didn't enjoy the ham sandwich. The promotional lunch bags went down well, and have now been commandeered to house Moshi Monsters.

- What was your overall experience of the screening?
We were at the Vue in Shepherd's Bush Westfield. Overall it was great - the balloon modellers and photographers were friendly and efficient; the Joeseph popcorn was delicious; and seeing the film in 3D (our first!) was amazing. Things that could have been done better: signposting the screen for the event in the foyer of the cinema, rather than having us ask staff where to go; providing a cloakroom for coats would have been very welcome; maybe some offers or discounts at child-friendly restaurants in Westfield. But these are minor gripes - it was a very well organised event, and we all had a fantastic time.

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 to friends and family? Why?
Yes, and not just because we had a great outing! It was funny and sweet, with some clever jokes. DH and I thought it was much better than the first one, which the DCs loved, but we thought didn't work as well on an adult level. And we're going to get the DVD in due course - partly to settle the dispute about Strawbarry pooing/vomiting the key, but also because DH and I want to see it again too....!

- Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film

A rockin and rollin non stop roller coaster ride with plenty of laughs.

4 and dc 4

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?

When the ape join the gang at the end of the film, as my son always roots for the under dog or characters who have find the right path.

Favourite character Steve.

- What did your DCs love best about the day?

They loved the pre film activities which made them feel really special and lucky.

- What did you/your DCs think of the SUBWAY® Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 themed Kids' Pak™ that your DC received (thanks to the team at SUBWAY)?

Stickers, drawings were great, loved the food.

- What was your overall experience of the screening?

Great experience, top class but presented in a friendly relaxed way, which is very difficult to do. Excellent day out.

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 to friends and family? Why?

Yep definitely. It's very different from other kids movies. It has its own special and unique qualities, with lots of laughs, and genuine encouragement for difference bonded together in friendship.

Thanks MN for a brilliant day out!

Highanddry Mon 14-Oct-13 07:38:43

Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film

Slightly random (maybe it was because we hadn't seen the first one) and in places quite surreal but lots of fun and suitable for littlies.

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)

I would give it 3 stars
DS1 (5 years) said 5 stars

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?

DS1 (5 years) - He liked when Berry took over the robot suit and got the baddies.
Favourite characters - Berry and Flint

DS2 (2.5 years) - when the man in the chicken suit lost his clothes.
Favourite character - Berry and Steve

Me and DH - liked Live Corp HQ and all the geeky jokes. Also like the lost word / Jurassic park bit when they see all the foodimals for the first time.
Favourite character - DH liked the policeman with the chest hair. I liked Flint and the Gerkins.

- What did your DCs love best about the day?

DS1 - everything apparently. He refused to be pinned down any further on that one.
DS2 - the food and the glasses.
I think they both liked the balloon animals a lot.

- What did you/your DCs think of the SUBWAY® Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 themed Kids' Pak™ that your DC received (thanks to the team at SUBWAY)?

They both seemed to enjoy them. All gone before the film even started. No complaints about taste - slight nose turning up about the few bits of lettuce (as usual) but they did get eaten. They liked the fruit Yoyo the best.
They liked the bags and carried them around all day. The activity sheet was colourful but there wasn't actually that much they could do with the crayons provided. A few more puzzles and slightly less images maybe?

- What was your overall experience of the screening?

We had a lovely time as we were able to make a day of it. The popcorn on the seats was very good and certainly kept DS2 happy for most of the film. The film itself was suitable for all of us - even the scary bits with the Cheese Spiders and Tacodiles didn't seem to worry them too much and there weren't any nightmares last night thankfully. There was enough adult content but not too much that it felt like a constant private joke (like some animated films these days). We only got chance to have balloon animals - the queues for the other activities were too long to wait in line with an excited 2 year old. That was a shame as we would have liked to get one of the green screen photos. Also seemed a little disorganised to begin with, we were being directed to the coffee for the adults but then it wasn't open and didn't open until 15 mins before so then there was a long queue there too. Overall though can't really complain when it was free smile

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 to friends and family? Why?

I've in fact already recommended it. I'd recommend it to other friends with children of a similar age as a good family film. I've also recommended it to some of my more techy friends as I think they would appreciate the geek humour in it.

I'm attaching a photo of DS2 enjoying his Subway meal.

blush realise that I didn't answer all the questions properly - issue with doing it whilst enjoying lunch in one of the many delish restaurants in the Westfield Complex grin!

I would call it a 'smackingly, foodstastic film' with enough cheesy, corny (get it???) jokes to keep the adults smiling too!

Apart from DW who is not the biggest fan of animation (bah humbug!), the children and I thought it worthy of 5/5 and that's with a nearly 13 year old DS and an 8 year old DD!

The screening was fabulous (but I couldn't believe the general ticket prices at the complex - nearly £20 for one ticket to see a 3D film!!!), very comfortable seating, liked the fact that you could lift the seat dividers up - particularly useful for the family next to whose three boys had to squash/squeeze into two seats, and the staff were all very helpful and friendly!

We were less keen on the popcorn than other Mumsnetters and their families seemed to be, though...Obviously our palates are either a) not very sophisticated and/or b) not used to the finer things of life -grin.

And thank you to Sony too (grovel, grovel....)

I see someone brought up the issue of not getting the mini posters and activity packs - I had quite forgotten about those items (we felt treated enough) but have to say that realistically the mini-posters wouldn't have done well in the wet, rainy weather beyond the hermetic bubble of the Westfield Shopping Centre!

Thanks AnnMumsnet and fellow MumsnetterHQ (sorry forgotten your name) for organising this fab event, particularly as it seemed to be a very early start for most of us (yawn!).

meatyballs Mon 14-Oct-13 09:21:00

Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film – good family entertainment, great animation and 3d effects

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)
Me and DP – 2/5 – felt it was a bit slow going, storyline was good but not our cup of tea, was funny in places, animation was great as were the 3d effects
DD10 – 4/5
DD7 – 5/5
DS2 – answering for him but I would say 3/5, it was a little slow paced to keep his attention all the time and not enough action!

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why? Favourite part of the film was Steve the monkey with the candle. They all loved Berry, thought he was very cute and wanted one.

- What did your DCs love best about the day? All of it, they said they felt very special and loved the photobooth and being able to take a photo home with them, enjoyed the balloons and facepainting too. Lovely surprise it being in 3D for everyone.

- What did you/your DCs think of the SUBWAY® Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 themed Kids' Pak™ that your DC received (thanks to the team at SUBWAY)? They loved having their own little bag each, only DD10 ate the sandwich though (after picking off the salad), the others said it tasted funny, DP and I enjoyed them instead though. All liked the drink and fruit yoyo.

- What was your overall experience of the screening? Thoroughly enjoyed by everyone, big thanks to Mumsnet and Sony.

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 to friends and family? Why? I would recommend it for children in the 5-10 age group, possibly not for younger or older children.

Did London get posh popcorn or something? Up North we got just normal clear bags of sweet popcorn, am glad as me and dd went in three supermarkets before we found bog standard popcorn a few weeks ago. She wont try all these fancy pants posh popcorn flavours and she had a right rant about it at the time.

grin

HeadFairy Mon 14-Oct-13 11:11:18

Sorry, I forgot to add pictures.... dd isn't great at posing for pictures. She's 3, what can I say? <rolls eyes>

Oops, sorry, I thought I'd rotated that one of ds above...

mamatron Mon 14-Oct-13 11:33:20

Yes, moldingsunbeams, we got lovely Joe & Seph's popcorn in London. I had the ginger caramel flavour (which DD wasn't keen on, but I loved) and DD had the chocolate flavour.

Just to add to my previous post, DD didn't get a poster or activity pack but this wasn't even noticed by her as there was so much else going on to keep her amused, so not a problem. Also, would be great to have hot chocolate on offer alongside the tea and coffee.

- Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film

A visually seductive, psychedelically pulsating, culturally and politically savvy, Avatar-pastiching hoot of a movie

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)

I and DH give it 5. My DD and DS give it 5.

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?

I loved it all, but my very favourite thing was the inventiveness in making animal-fruit hybrids, such as Flamangoes.

DC loved it all. DS loved especially the final scenes when the robot teams are overcome. DD loved especially the background jokes, like Steve and the birthday candle. My favourite character: Manny. Their favourite character: Steve.

- What did your DCs love best about the day?

The film itself - its 3D-ness was the best we have seen to date and the story captivated them too.

- What did you/your DCs think of the SUBWAY® Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 themed Kids' Pak™ that your DC received (thanks to the team at SUBWAY)?

They loved the bag itself with its Cloudy pictures. They loved the Bear. They loved the juice, but they have become terrible snobs about food and would not eat the sub roll. They took one small bite and declared the roll far too sweet and soggy. I agree about the roll - but gobbled up the contents myself! They loved the stickers aswell.

- What was your overall experience of the screening?
It was a fabulous day - even though we had to struggle to Shepherds Bush in the pouring rain. The activities were fun - if a bit chaotic. The balloon man was excellent. The Steve balloons were so cute. Arm painting of a pickle on DD was really lovely. Posh popcorn...to die for - thank you. We got fantastic seats - the cinema was comfortable, the screen big enough to sink into it. The 3D-tech was perfect - really sharp and good - well done Vue.
The film was fun - started a little bit late, which was frustrating - but it all didn't matter in the end as we had such a good time and the atmosphere was so jolly.

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 to friends and family? Why?
We already have - to everyone we have seen. We seem to have loved it far more than many reviewers in the US. We thought it was so sharp and politically aware, with all sorts of adult-oriented jokes about hip capitalism, about the world of computing, about current obsessions - it was so much infinitely better than Disney/Pixar efforts. I write about film and for academic reasons have to see Frozen soon. I know I will abominate it. Cloudy 2 was better than Cloudy 1 - the family stuff was not so hokey - family became family of man (animal, fruit....). It may be because I also write about GM and about the philosophy of consciousness in animals and objects, that this really grabbed me. But it grabbed DH too and the kids.....who don't , needless to say
Anyway, have told everyone we have seen since (including a relative who was a fan of Cloudy 1) that they must see this.

Have forgotten to send pix to my work machine, so attach 1 but will send more tonight.

JaquelineHyde Mon 14-Oct-13 13:56:28

Oooh I forgot they were supposed to get posters and activity packs, I hadn't mentioned that to them so they weren't missed at all.

Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film - Flint & friend give us food for thought

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest) - DS gave it 5 out of 5, DH & I gave it 4 out of 5.

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why? Our favourite part was Barry translating Flint's speech to the rest of the foodimals and all the foodimal puns. Our favourite character is Steve because he's so funny & energetic.

- What did your DCs love best about the day? Apart from the film DS loved the whole 'VIP' experience of entertainment & goodies.

- What did you/your DCs think of the SUBWAY® Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 themed Kids' Pak™ that your DC received (thanks to the team at SUBWAY)? DS loved his sandwich - cheese & ham is his favourite combo. He saved the fruit rolls till we got home.

- What was your overall experience of the screening? We loved it. Thank you so much for choosing us. DH & I both work and it's rare we can all have 'family time' together. We ended up having a family lunch, going home & watching another film and then playing Monopoly together.

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 to friends and family? Why? Definitely - it is funny, clever film with a subtle message, great characters, good use of 3D and well paced. We'll be adding it to our collection when it comes on DVD!

mrspink27 Mon 14-Oct-13 14:31:08

Oooh we didnt get poster or activity packs either... didnt even see them sad ALso DDs werent keen on the ginger popcorn and although they did enjoy the choc flavour would probably have preferred bog standard salty or sweet! Fabulously funny, adventure-packed film for all the family!

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)
5* from DH and myself and 5* from the children. We all loved it!

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?
We all loved the monkey blowing out the birthday candle repeatedly and the machine being run on 'cute'! and the DCs had two favourite characters the straw(berry) and Flint. They loved the strawberry because she was so cute and they loved Flint because of his expressions and because he was so funny.

- What did your DCs love best about the day?

All of it! was their first response but they loved the face painting and the photo booth picture as well as the balloon modelling and said the film was brilliant!

- What did you/your DCs think of the SUBWAY® Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 themed Kids' Pak™ that your DC received (thanks to the team at SUBWAY)?

I have bought them for my children before as they enjoy the subway packs. The Dcs were really pleased to have their subway lunch provided and were particularly please with the window sticker in the pack.

- What was your overall experience of the screening?

Really good. I work in a school and have been telling all my collegues (with children) all about the film and the whole day saying how brilliant it was. The artists were great providing all the extras balloon modelling, face painting etc. We loved the lunch provided and also enjoyed the popcorn.

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 to friends and family? Why?

Already have! My family and friends all saw the original cloudy and were keen to hear if the sequel was as good. I told them it was and to go and see it over half term.

Thank you so much for the opportunity of attending this screening. We all had a great day and the Dcs have lots to write in their news writing at school today!!!
I will post photos later when DH returns with the mobile! thlgrin I'm loving the seasonal smilies!!

I think the activity pack is what iklboo has in her photo above, a picture on one side and puzzle on the other and a box of crayons, thats what we got, we did not get stickers so maybe those who didn't got stickers instead.

telsa Mon 14-Oct-13 15:12:03

- Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film
DS has summed up the film as:
"Incredibly exciting and fun!"

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)
4.5 out of 5

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?
DS's favourite part of the film was when they all made the giant fishing rod together and launched Flint through the air! Favourite character was Steve the monkey, because monkeys are his favourite animals and he was really funny. DS would now like a talking monkey! (Any ideas where I can get one of those for Christmas!!!)

- What did your DCs love best about the day?
DS enjoyed seeing the film best, espcially sitting in the VIP seats!

- What did you/your DCs think of the SUBWAY® Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 themed Kids' Pak™ that your DC received (thanks to the team at SUBWAY)?
Unfortunately DS is allergic to fresh tomato so he was unable to eat the sandwich, which was a shame as a plain cheese and cucmuber sandwich would have gone down well. I enjoyed it though! Thanks Subway! He liked the bag though and will use it for packed lunches this week!

- What was your overall experience of the screening?
We had a lovely day out, a real treat! It was well organised, the photo booth was really good too. I will definitely apply again if there is another showing! The film was great, it was lovely to be treated to refreshments and nice to meet some Mumnetters in person!
Great venue to hold it in also as we were able to do a bit of shopping (in the many sports shops and the lego shop!) afterwards and DS particularly enjoyed the NFL activities that were also all free and got some more freebies from them too!

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 to friends and family? Why?
I would definitely recommend this film to others, infact DS has spent most of the day at school telling his friends all about it and encouraging them to go along! He wants to see it again too!

Thanks so much Mumsnet, we had a lovely day!

AnnMumsnet (MNHQ) Mon 14-Oct-13 19:10:50

TaperJeanGirl Mon 14-Oct-13 22:36:52

First of all, wanted to say a big thanks for choosing us for the screening, I took dd1 age 8, dd2 age 6, and ds age 4, to the London screening, and we all had a brilliant morning!

Our one sentence review of the film would be Freakishly Funny Food!

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)

I would give it 5 out of 5, it was a film that was as entertaining for the adults as it was for the kids, all 3 kids gave it 5 out of 5 as well.

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?

My fave character was Monkey/Ape woman, dd1 loved Berry, dd2 loved Steve, and ds loved the blobs of butter the best.

- What did your DCs love best about the day?

I think they enjoyed the whole specialness of seeing the film before all of their friends/cousins, it was the first time I have ever managed to get them into Westfield without any moaning! An extra surprise was it was a 3d screening, we dont normally watch films in 3d as I was sure ds wouldnt keep his glasses on but he did, in fact I never heard a word or saw any of them move for the entire film!

- What did you/your DCs think of the SUBWAY® Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 themed Kids' Pak™ that your DC received (thanks to the team at SUBWAY)?

They all loved the Subway bags, dd2 and ds wolfed down everything, salad and all, dd1 is a bit fussier and picked out all the salad but my dustbin boy was happy to eat it all, saving me the trouble of disposing of it! The bags were also lovely and we have saved them for storing various bits and bobs in, I would def buy them again.

- What was your overall experience of the screening?

Overall the morning was just lovely, all really well organised, the animal balloons were a big hit with my kids, the only (non) complaint was that 2 of my kids chose a Steve the monkey balloon, and the tails looked like big willies poking out of my bag, I got some odd looks walking around Westfield after the film! For me, an extra nice touch was the photo booth thing and the kids all getting a print, they are so pleased with them and it turned out to be a great photo of all 3.
I also have to mention just how well behaved all the kids were, usually in a cinema full of kids you will get a few that talk all the way through or try and escape (usually mine!) but apart from laughing in all the right places they all seemed very quiet, also wanted to say thanks to the lovely mumsnetter who offered to watch my dc while I went to the toilet (I am 36 weeks preg and struggling a bit and it was really lovely of her to offer )

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 to friends and family? Why?

Yes I would, and I already have! It is a brilliant film for kids and adults alike and not annoying like some kids films are.....like the smurfs!

TaperJeanGirl Mon 14-Oct-13 23:08:07

Heres the photobooth one....

- Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film
A fab follow up to our family favourite, food and animals what could be better!

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)
Me (35) 5
DS1 (11) 5
DD (8) 5
DS2 (3) 5

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?
Me- When Flint tries all his inventions on his poor old dad/The shrimpanzee and flamangos etc, v clever!
DS1- Barry Berry translating/Barry Berry himself
DD- When he said cut the cheese <eyeroll>/ Barry Berry
DS2 - all of it/ Steve

Must just tell you- I missed the brown crayon thing and had to ask ds1 the joke tonight, he had got it and thought it was HILARIOUS that I hadn't grin I'm sticking to my story of that being the moment I was scrabbling on the floor for ds2's 3D glasses.

- What did your DCs love best about the day?
They loved the whole cinema experience, it is a real treat for them. They loved the fact they got to see the film before everyone else! And they loved all the treats

- What did you/your DCs think of the SUBWAY® Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 themed Kids' Pak™ that your DC received (thanks to the team at SUBWAY)?
They adored the bags but only ds1 ate the sub, and he would like me to tell you he loved it except for the tomato. Don't think any of them ate the fruit roll thingy.

- What was your overall experience of the screening?
It was very well run by MN, Janine MN was very welcoming and helpful (and young- spit). The kids did well, as we did a lot of queuing- a teeny criticism would be that there was no rhyme or reason to the balloon modellers, we queued for them and as it got to our turn the next person who was free went past us and started at the back of the queue! We consequently had no time for the photo booth. None of us liked the popcorn, sorry! I was impressed with the 3D screening, v effective. Overall we had a really lovely day, thank you so much!

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 to friends and family? Why?
Absolutely- fun for all ages, food and animals, what's not to like?!

Everything!I have to say that it was all brilliantly executed. 5 stars, I thought it was a very enjoyable film
DC's 5 stars, it was fab

The bit where they said there is a leak in the boat.

Getting free popcorn and realising it was a 3d film as we don't normally watch 3d films

What did you/your DCs think of the SUBWAY® Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 themed Kids' Pak™ that your DC received (thanks to the team at SUBWAY)?
They liked the sandwich but thought it was too small!

What was your overall experience of the screening?
We enjoyed it but the balloon people at the Trafford Centre weren't very organised. We watched one man make balloons for the family in front of us in the queue and my son was planning what he wanted but then when he had made balloons for the children in front he wandered off to another family and we didn't get one. We queued again for a good while but then ran out of time so my children didn't get a balloon and were disappointed.

If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 to friends and family? Why?
Yes, it was a great family film with lots of jokes that appealed to my children.

Thank you for letting have the opportunity to see the film, we had a great day out.

Cloudy with a chance of meatballs 2 where the food comes alive!!

My eldest daughter loved it, she gave it 5/5 whilst I gave it around 3.5/5 It was a good movie which kept us entertained. My youngest got quite scared by the giant food though smile

They both loved Berry, finding her so cute and each wanting their own Berry...lucky they had both got a balloon berry before going in as well as a berry picture on their faces.

They loved the chance to get a character balloon which my eldest has taken to school each day since the movie.

We had their Subway kids pack for lunch - they both liked the sandwiches however my eldest did pick off all the healthy stuff! They enjoyed the activity sheet and the balloon went down well too.

I would recommend the movie and have already done so, my daughters already want to go back and see it again.

We all had a great day and just wanted to say thankyou for giving us the opportunity it was a great experience and really well planned.

Great family film that we all enjoyed.

We'd all give it 5 stars. Two children aged 5 and 13 who both adored it.

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?

Ours was the nods to other films (Jurassic Park etc). The 5 yo loved the food that came alive. The 13 yo just liked 'all of it'.

- What did your DCs love best about the day?

Didn't say what they liked best but did say they'd both had a fantastic time (a real honour these days as they're so fickle and hard to please).

- What did you/your DCs think of the SUBWAY® Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 themed Kids' Pak™ that your DC received (thanks to the team at SUBWAY)?

Both enjoyed them (ham & cheese). They ate them when the film had finished. Nice little touches with the healthy strawberry roll too.

- What was your overall experience of the screening?

DD - favourite character was Berry. Favourite part was when Barry pooed jam.
Me - favourite character was Barb. Favourite parts were Steve being scared of the candle and Live Corp.

- What did your DCs love best about the day?
DD loved the film and the activities. She's been telling anyone who'll listen that she's been to a film premiere and seen the movie before anyone else.

- What did you/your DCs think of the SUBWAY® Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 themed Kids' Pak™ that your DC received (thanks to the team at SUBWAY)?
Loved the bag and stickers. DD liked the fruit yoyo and drink but wasn't keen on the sandwich (although she's a fussy madam with sandwiches so I wasn't expecting anything else).

- What was your overall experience of the screening?
We had a fabulous time and it was great to have some time with DD1 (18mo DD2 stayed at home with DH). The queues for the face painting and balloon animals were long but DD didn't mind and she was very happy with the end result (until I managed to step on her balloon flower in the dark cinema). We thought we might miss out on a photo as the queue was massive, but we managed to get one just before we want in. Was nice to catch up with the lovely ohforfoxsake and her kids too.

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 to friends and family? Why?
Yes, in fact I've recommended it to several friends with kids already. It was visually stimulating and there was enough smart jokes for adults without it all going over the kids' heads.

Funny, engaging and a great storyline, beautifully animated and lovely to look at.

4 stars

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?
My son and nephew's favourite character was Barry and they loved the time on the island.
My favourite characters were the pickles, I loved their fishing trip with Tim.

- What did your DCs love best about the day?
Having their arms painted with Barry (DS,3) and a pickle (DNephew, 3) then eating popcorn and warching the film

- What did you/your DCs think of the SUBWAY® Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 themed Kids' Pak™ that your DC received (thanks to the team at SUBWAY)?
They both loved their packs. DNephew ate all of his sub but I think my DS was put off by the salad in his. The Fruit yoyos were a big hit and both boys really enjoyed them. I'd never considered Subway for children before but I will do so in future.

- What was your overall experience of the screening?
Fantastic, all of the activities were accessible and we didn't have to wait too long for any of them. It was lovely for them to get the balloons, the painted characters and then their photo taken. I'm just a bit worried about taking them to the cinema when it isn't a preview now. They will be expecting all of this excitement every time.

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 to friends and family? Why?
I absolutely would, it was a really fun way to spend the morning and the film was great. I think it has enough to keep children of all ages, and adults to entertain them all.

Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film
A fantastic save the day film and save the foodamils.

Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)
I would give it 4 stars and the Dc (11,9 and 6) all gave it 5 stars

What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?
Two DC loved Barry, so cute with his big eyes and producing his jam which they found very funny. My other DC loved the marshmallows which she wanted to pick up and cuddle.
My favourite was Sam Sparks for being a female scientist

What did your DCs love best about the day?
Watching the film and seeing a film in 3D for the first time. I think that they all really liked that it was a preview that none of their friends had seen yet so felt very special being a part of this event.

What did you/your DCs think of the SUBWAY® Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 themed Kids' Pak™ that your DC received (thanks to the team at SUBWAY)?
A mixed reaction, they all loved the pack with the cute bag, poster and crayons. Two of them really enjoyed the roll with ham and salad but the youngest would not touch it due to the salad (fussy). All three enjoyed the drink and the yo-yo. They liked taking the bag home with all of their things in them.

What was your overall experience of the screening?
We all had a fabulous day and really appreciated the balloons, face painting, photo booth and popcorn. It was well organised and well thought out as an event. However the star of the day for us remained the actual film itself.
I really enjoyed seeing other mumsnetters and the cup of much needed coffee and need to say a massive thank you to the lovely two lovely mumsnetters in the face painting queue who brought me a cup of coffee whilst I waited with my DC. THANKYOU! So very kind to help another mum who you have never met before.

If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 to friends and family? Why?
It really is a great film that appeals to all ages. The foodamils are a joy and I also liked that the film was not too long so the DC didn't get all fidgety.

Thank you MN and Sony for a much enjoyed treat and morning out.

missusjen Wed 16-Oct-13 20:28:23

Wow! We had an excellent time, it was a brilliant event and the boys (3 and 5) absolutely loved it.
I thought the plotline was a bit convoluted with too many McGuffins, but somehow it worked and the children just accepted it all and thought it was brilliant.
All the things going on in the background during scenes were really funny and the quality was (as we'd expect) excellent. The voiceover actors are incredibly convincing and the characters were really likeable.
The fun beforehand was first rate, it really was, we a
all felt very special. Coffee for the grown ups and the Subway brunch were lovely touches. The balloon-modellers and face painters were a great laugh and the green screen photo is superb.

Thank you ever such a lot for organising and giving us the opportunity to attend what was something we'll all remember forever.

Engaging and funny for adults and children alike.

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)
4 stars

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?
DD1 laughed at the bit (also in the trailer) where Flint is scared of the strawberry. I think Steve the monkey is her favourite character.

- What did your DCs love best about the day?
The film itself. We didn't arrive in time to get a balloon animal, which she would also have loved.

- What did you/your DCs think of the SUBWAY® Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 themed Kids' Pak™ that your DC received (thanks to the team at SUBWAY)?
The sandwich was tasty. It seemed like a healthy, balanced meal for a child. DD1 and DD2 both love the bag it came in!

- What was your overall experience of the screening?
Very well oraganised, great entertainment beforehand, good snacks. We had a great time. Thankyou Mumsnet!

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 to friends and family? Why?
I would recommend it, I found it very entertaining with good characters, lots of humour and a positive message, and DD1 loved it too.

My daughter was in a state of great excitement for days before the screening. Once she got to the cinema and realised there were so many extra treats on offer I think her cup completely overflowed!
The film lived up to the expectations as well - easily as funny as the first one - 5 stars! Even better the film is intelligent enough to appeal to adults too (a big bonus). I have already recommended this to all friends with kids and my daughter is clamouring to watch it a second time. Barry the Strawberry was her favourite character and she was lucky enough to get it painted on her arm (another highlight). At the end of the day my daughter cried because she did not want to leave this experience behind. The only slight disappointment was the Subway Kids Pack which remained uneaten. Overall a fantastic outing that was thoroughly enoyable!

Fun, heartwarming, silly and entertaining

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)
DC said 4 and I would agree

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?
DCs loved berry and liked all the things she did especially the strawberry jam poo. They also like the tacodile. I don't think they had a favourite part just enjoyed it all
I like tim and the pickles fishing

- What did your DCs love best about the day?
They loved it all. We arrived quite early and they had their photo taken with the green screen. My son was wearing a green top and when the woman said he would appear headless he thought that was funny. We found a blue top to wear. Having the pictures to take home was brilliant.
They loved the balloon lady and the tatoos

- What did you/your DCs think of the SUBWAY® Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 themed Kids' Pak™ that your DC received (thanks to the team at SUBWAY)? My daughter is very fussy with bread and didn't like it. My son had the ham - liked it but picked out all the salad!

- What was your overall experience of the screening?
It was great - nicely organized and a great treat. Everyone was friendly and there was a great vibe.

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 to friends and family? Why?

Sorry for the delay in responding - would love to have a better excuse, but have non other than real life is a nightmare at the moment.

- Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film
Fantastic fun with lots of humour for the whole family.

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)
Me - 5
dh - 4
dd (8) - 5
ds (7) - "if I can only give it a mark out of 5 then 5, but would really want to give it a million!"

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?
Both dd and ds say that Steve was their favourite. I think the humour in his character just really appeals to their sense of fun. Ds's favourite part was when Steve was trying to blow out the birthday candle (actually, I think that was my best bit too) dd's says that there are too many good bits to pick out one, but she loved the Jurassic Park bit and any scenes with Steve in them.

- What did your DCs love best about the day?
They loved the whole day. We really don't ever get to go to the cinema outside of the Junior Movie mornings as it is just too expensive, so they generally see films months after their friends. They loved the build up to the day and the excitement of being one of the first to get to see a new film.

- What did you/your DCs think of the SUBWAY® Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 themed Kids' Pak™ that your DC received (thanks to the team at SUBWAY)?
dc love Subway anyway so they were thrilled to get an extra treat. ds wanted to know if the kids meal would include a meatball sub if we went in over half term (it's not usually included in the kids meals) but perhaps Subway could offer it as part of the marketing in honour of the film? Unlike many posters, they love the Fruit Winders grin

- What was your overall experience of the screening?
The extra fun on offer before the screening really added to the experience. What is not to love about balloon models and face painting? It was a really lovely atmosphere too, with lots of friendly faces and patient children and grown ups.
I really loved the cinema, comfy seats, plenty of leg room and a good view of the screen. Popcorn was delicious!

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 to friends and family? Why?
I have already spoken about it with mums at the school gate when they were talking about things to do over half term. dc have been raving about it to their school friends.
We all enjoyed it much more than the first one - I think it helped that the dc were older and so 'got' more of the humour; it was also just a funnier film I think. You can't say that very often with a sequel smile

Many thanks for letting us attend - I can't tell you how much it meant to us to have a lovely family day without fear of spending money that we don't have.

Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film
A fun fantastical adventure, original and enjoyable.

Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)
DD gives it 5, I give it 4.

What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?
Barry the strawberry was DDs favourite, and her favourite bit was when Sam and Flint met him for the first time. My favourite bits were various funny one liners eg "there's a leek in the boat!" and the more psychedelic bits as they explored the island and various creatures.

What did your DCs love best about the day?
Face painting and balloon model.

What did you/your DCs think of the SUBWAY® Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 themed Kids' Pak™ that your DC received (thanks to the team at SUBWAY)?
She loves the bag, but we didn't get a sandwich as they'd run out of veggie ones and also she's a fusspot who didn't much like the fruit roll thing.

What was your overall experience of the screening?
A really lovely morning out, dd felt really special for having seen the film before other people could and having her face painted etc. We didn't realise the film was going to be in 3d, that was a nice surprise, dd hadn't seen a 3d film before.

If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 to friends and family? Why?
Yes, it's a fun film so I would recommend to friends with young kids.

Thank you very much for letting us come along to the screening, it was great!

DD's favourite character was the cheeseburger spider, she keeps asking if Santa might bring her one for one for Christmas....

- What did your DCs love best about the day?

The balloon modeller, the free popcorn, the 3D specs and the Film.

- What did you/your DCs think of the SUBWAY® Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 themed Kids' Pak™ that your DC received (thanks to the team at SUBWAY)?

- What was your overall experience of the screening?

We had a great time, thank you very much!

"Using friends and perseverance to overcome evil intent, Flint succeeds in safe-guarding the foodimals."

Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)
Me - 3
DCs - 4

What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?
My favourite character was Steve, especially the part with trying to put out the everlasting candle. Quite often it was little sequences going on in the background that were more interesting than the main story.
Elder DS liked Arl (sp?) the policeman best. Younger DS liked Steve, Berry, Sam and Flint.

What did your DCs love best about the day?
They liked the trip to the Trafford Centre as not been before, also having the photos done, popcorn and the film.

What did you/your DCs think of the SUBWAY® Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 themed Kids' Pak™ that your DC received (thanks to the team at SUBWAY)?
We all liked the bag, and the younger DS liked the poster activities. They said the sandwich was OK but one didn't like tomato and the other didn't like the cucumber. Odd as they usually do, but maybe these had gone a bit soggy/slimy.

What was your overall experience of the screening?
A fun morning's entertainment, worth the trip. We had got there at 10am exactly and it did feel like a lot of hanging about and queuing - as soon as we got there I discouraged them from the face-painting idea which they were quite happy about. Film started after 11am rather than 10:45am so again I had to manage their expectations somewhat, but I was very pleased that once it did start we were straight into the film with no adverts/trailers.

If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 to friends and family? Why?
Yes, definitely, as it was very entertaining with lots going on. A bit slow to get going, but otherwise very engaging and lots to look at as well as the main story. I'm quite certain we'll be seeing this one again!

What did you/your DCs think of the SUBWAY® Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 themed Kids' Pak™ that your DC received (thanks to the team at SUBWAY)?

- What did your DCs love best about the day?
Getting face paint! On her arm admittedly, BUT it was the first time she had ever had it done, as she's always been too scared before. She absolutely loved her Barry 'tattoo' and was very proud of herself. Those face painters were really talented!

- What did you/your DCs think of the SUBWAY® Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 themed Kids' Pak™ that your DC received (thanks to the team at SUBWAY)?

- What did you/your DCs think of the SUBWAY® Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 themed Kids' Pak™ that your DC received (thanks to the team at SUBWAY)?
