Are you tempted by the idea of a cruise but not sure it's right for your family? Why not check it out on dry land for the day and see how you like it...
P&O Cruises have asked to find MNers and their families to attend an exclusive day on Azura, one of their four family friendly cruise ships.

Here's what P&O Cruises say about the ship: "Azura was designed with families in mind, with large children's areas, entertainment and clubs for all ages. Taking a holiday on Azura or one of our other family-friendly ships means that you can have the best of both worlds - fun and companionship for your children whilst stealing some 'me' time for you too."

The event will take place on Saturday 31st August in Southampton and will include:

- A full day on the ship 10am-2.30pm

- A tour of the cruise ship

- Time for your DCs to try the facilities in the children's clubs

- Full lunch on-board with special surprise guest

Each Mumsnetter will also receive a goodie bag full of treats from the White Company as a thank you and your DCs will also receive a goodie bag of their own.

Those of you who are selected to attend the day will be required to come back to a thread on MN to share your experiences and answer a few questions. We'd also love it if you could take some photos of your day on your smartphone and upload these to the feedback thread so we can see what you got up to.

P&O Cruises would also like those selected to record your day, and will provide MNers with a flipcam and a disposable camera for your DCs to use throughout the day. This footage may be used on the P&O Cruises website, pages on MN, social media channels and possibly in other marketing material so please only sign up if you're happy to do this.

P&O Cruises will pay for your train travel to and from Southampton or there is complimentary parking for all those who will drive to the event, and petrol costs for one car per family will also be covered.

This event is open to all Mumsnetters with at least one child under 16. All Mumsnetters and any child aged 16 or over will have to bring photo ID with them in order to clear standard security procedures.

So if you'd like to attend please sign up here.

Thanks and good luck,

MNHQ

This sounds a fun way to end the school holidays.
smile

Snazzyenjoyingsummer Wed 31-Jul-13 09:21:42

I am definitely up for this! smile

Tortoise Wed 31-Jul-13 09:39:57

I was tempted until it came to photo ID. Only DS1 has a passport, none of the rest of us have any photo ID!

Glitterfairys Wed 31-Jul-13 09:59:33

We would love this smile

Forgetfulmog Wed 31-Jul-13 10:18:53

Good point about the Photo ID - dd is only 10 mo, does she still need to have photo ID??

Forgetfulmog Wed 31-Jul-13 10:26:28

Well I've signed up for it anyway so fingers crossed! I would love to be selected for this, a real opportunity for us to have a relaxing, pampered family day out especially as we won't get a chance to have a holiday this year. Plus I never get picked for anything sad

MardyBra Wed 31-Jul-13 10:41:16

How is 10 -2.30 a full day?

manfalou Wed 31-Jul-13 10:43:11

Would be loved to this as we're avid cruise fans (DS1's first holiday was a cruise at 10 months old!) but southampton is just to far away... almost 4 hours on a train =(

Enjoy everyone... cruise ships are AMAZING, been on lots but never a P&O, looking forward to seeing responses

3girlsunder3 Wed 31-Jul-13 10:56:51

I would have loved to take my children for a "spin" on Azura, but haven't applied as I think 4 1/2 hours simply isn't long enough to have a good look round, try out the facilities and have lunch. I can imagine the the morning just being a bit too pressured and so not ideal for young children.

aristocat Wed 31-Jul-13 11:01:28

grin Sounds fantastic!

PinkPepper Wed 31-Jul-13 11:47:21

Entered, but put we'd go by car then told dp and he said he'd rather go by train sad hope I havn't messed it up now

Yas1 Wed 31-Jul-13 13:05:47

Donegringrin

All signed up smile

Would have signed up but Dd2 doesn't have any photo ID. Is there a reason for them insisting the DC have it?

Manchesterhistorygirl Wed 31-Jul-13 13:46:29

Southamptons just too far, five hours or so for us. Never been on P&O, but we do love their sister company Cunard. Whoever is lucky enough to go, enjoy!

If I may be cheeky enough, is there any chance of a similar event in Liverpool?

zipzap Wed 31-Jul-13 13:59:29

Psst - MichelleMumsnet - have a look at Q6. On my brower (firefox) the first option is blank. I'm assuming that it's Car as the other options are Train and Undecided yet but it would be nice to know for sure!

zipzap Wed 31-Jul-13 14:03:20

Psst over here again *MichelleMumsnet" - Q10 is missing its first answer too. I'm guessing it's Yes as the others are No and Don't Know but again it's always nice to know exactly what you are ticking against grin

MichelleMumsnet (MNHQ) Wed 31-Jul-13 14:53:14

PinkPepper no worries, I'll change your answer on the sign up form!

MichelleMumsnet (MNHQ) Wed 31-Jul-13 15:02:46

Everyone aged 16 and over will need to provide photo ID to clear standard security procedures. I've edited the thread to make this clearer.

Snazzyenjoyingsummer Wed 31-Jul-13 15:41:58

MichelleMumsnet (or someone else at HQ) can you check mine went through? I completed the questionnaire, only to come back hours later to see the 'click here to complete' final page! Have done it now but hope after the time delay it was accepted.

Snazzyenjoyingsummer Wed 31-Jul-13 15:42:34

Sorry - can you check mine went through pleeease? <mum voice>

afromom Wed 31-Jul-13 16:04:33

This sounds like a great day out! I have been thinking about a cruise for ages but wasn't sure what my DS would think so it would be a good way to try it out!

Signed up! Southampton not far by train for me, and I have long been curious about a cruise holiday with DS.

SirBoobAlot Wed 31-Jul-13 16:53:55

What is acceptable as 'photo ID'? I don't drive or have a passport currently, but do have a national bus pass. Would this (plus maybe birth certificate..?) be acceptable?

Fluffy1234 Wed 31-Jul-13 17:11:24

I did a similar day on Royal Caribbean Independence of the Seas, it was great fun.

muminthecity Wed 31-Jul-13 17:45:29

Sounds great, I'd love to do it! Have signed up smile.

timidviper Wed 31-Jul-13 18:20:24

I haven't signed up as, although my family would love it, I suspect my children (age 25 and 22) might dig their heels in about trying the Kids Club!

GrumpyKat Wed 31-Jul-13 20:55:18

Signed up. You never know......

dontmeanto Wed 31-Jul-13 20:56:26

Done...such a great way to get my DP over his "no cruise ever" policy!

redwineattheweekend Wed 31-Jul-13 21:05:41

Signed up, I think, sounds interesting, we've never been on a cruise and I'm uncertain so it would be great to look around.

scratchandsniff Wed 31-Jul-13 21:24:14

Uh oh filled it all in and have just realised that all my photo ID is in maiden name, haven't got round too lazy and tight to doing it. Bugger!

Mummyszone Wed 31-Jul-13 21:42:53

Fingers crossed!! Would love to get a chance to do this would make booking future cruise holidays easier after getting a first hand look in advance!! Would be a great fun family day out xx

Gigaflops Wed 31-Jul-13 21:59:00

Done - this sounds just brilliant!! Count us in!

IwishIwasmoreorganised Wed 31-Jul-13 22:46:37

Done -DH isn't keen at all so I've applied just for me and our ds's!

Hope the journey is as easy as it looks on google maps!

Tommy Wed 31-Jul-13 22:54:47

wow - that would be great - hop on a bus at the end of our road and we'd be there on 10 minutes

hurricanewyn Wed 31-Jul-13 23:42:53

Done. Fingers crossed

poppetsaplenty Thu 01-Aug-13 00:11:11

Sounds fun - done! Tommy you must be near me!

Tommy Thu 01-Aug-13 07:36:39

wink

tribpot Thu 01-Aug-13 07:40:53

Is the cruise ship wheelchair accessible / are wheelchair users invited to this event? I have often thought a cruise ship would be a nice holiday for us (as DH is a wheelchair user) - plenty to do once on board if you can actually get there! We've been on the Holland ferry which is accessible if somewhat painful actually to access.

FannyFifer Thu 01-Aug-13 08:56:11

9 hours on a train for a 4 & a half hour look round a boat, think I'll pass on that day out. grin

Manchesterhistorygirl Thu 01-Aug-13 09:06:50

Cruises are ideal for wheelchair users, they have several
Cabins that are specially adapted too.

OneLittleToddleTerror Thu 01-Aug-13 09:16:15

Just signed up. The southampton docks is just 15-20min drive away from us. We have been on a cruise and loved it. Would be great to see what P&O has to offer.

Spirael Thu 01-Aug-13 09:17:51

Also applied, although we are probably about five hours drive away, when judging from the home address I provided.

However please don't discount us because of that, MN! My parents live only an hour away from Southampton and we'd just arrange to pootle down the day before and spend the weekend with them.

We could offer a valuble Northern opinion to P&O Cruises? [clutches at straws]

My boys would love this as they're very into ships. A recent day out to HMS Belfast was a big hit.
We've never considered a cruise as a family holiday. It's still something I think of as a holiday that old people take when they're retired. Looking forward to bring proved wrong if we get to go on this trip.

FireEngineDoll Thu 01-Aug-13 09:48:09

Signed up too! Sounds like a great day out (and we only have an hour or so's drive to get there luckily). I've always wondered what a cruise would be like and I know the kids would love trying something different. Hope we get chosen!

AmIGoingMad Thu 01-Aug-13 12:31:22

This isn't for us right now as dd is only 4 weeks but am very envious of those who do go! Went on cruise for our honeymoon and are total converts. We've done a few now including DS s first hol last yr- on the Azura! Can't wait to do another!

nenevomito Thu 01-Aug-13 12:51:17

Since when is 10am to 2:30 classed as a full day??

Anthracite Thu 01-Aug-13 13:12:28

We went on a cruise this summer. It was wonderful. I really couldn't fault it.

It can be quite an institutionalised type of holiday as you go from meals to a quiz, to the main show, back to smaller entertainment. But then so can many resort based holidays.

I know I will find it hard to look beyond a cruise for future holidays.

I think for many families, there is a tension between what the parents want and what the children want. Parents can be very happy in a city/cultural holiday (my DH for sure) but children want activities. Being in a new city every day for ~6 hours means parents can get their fix, without the children being totally bored. My DDs (teens) loved our cruise.

Anthracite Thu 01-Aug-13 13:21:41

Tribpot,

On the cruise we were on, there were several people in wheelchairs.

A cruise ship has lift access to all decks (except perhaps the skin cancer one), and there are no areas with one or two steps - each deck is level. It's not like a ferry where the door is 6" above the deck.

Most cruise ships, especially larger, newer ones will have specific cabins for wheelchair use (eg extra wide doors and plenty of turning space, as well as wet-room style showers).

If you pick your itinerary well, the ports of call will be wheelchair-friendly too. I think the only thing you need to worry about is the ports of call, especially if they require a tender boat.

500internalerror Thu 01-Aug-13 14:39:58

Will the footage we take be linked to our mn names at all? Can we take footage without ourselves in?

MichelleMumsnet (MNHQ) Thu 01-Aug-13 15:09:18

500internalerror the footage collected on the day with the flipcam and disposable camera will not be linked to your MN name. If you upload pictures onto the feedback thread feel free to change your MN name for the feedback. You are not required to take any footage which you personally appear in.

Anthracite Thu 01-Aug-13 15:11:30

Michelle,

when will we know if we have been chosen <impatient emoticon>.

OneLittleToddleTerror Thu 01-Aug-13 15:18:56

/wave 500internalerror

Do a 404notfound on your pictures.

Sorry, couldn't help it grin.

500internalerror Thu 01-Aug-13 15:43:11

Thanks smilegrin

500internalerror Thu 01-Aug-13 15:47:41

Oh no - got half way through applying & found it says off-peak train travel only. I'm not going to get to Southampton by 10am if I can't travel till after 9/9.30 hmmhmm

OneLittleToddleTerror Thu 01-Aug-13 15:51:25

Is Saturday not off peak anymore? I haven't travelled on the train since DD was born hmm. Used to go up to London in the weekends.

500internalerror Thu 01-Aug-13 15:53:56

Oh yes! Doh!!! confused Thank you for pointing that out; my days are all over the place with a complicated summer!

Rowlers Thu 01-Aug-13 16:04:04

I'd be interested but agree with others that 10 - 2.30 is not a full day and is therefore only worth it if you live close-by.

Fluffy1234 Thu 01-Aug-13 16:37:54

I guess if they made the times any later you could find yourself heading of to the Med or wherever the ship is going.

Choccyjules Thu 01-Aug-13 16:39:01

Done :-) <waitsnotverypatiently>

gazzalw Thu 01-Aug-13 17:22:37

When are the chosen ones likely to be informed???

Azure Thu 01-Aug-13 18:10:52

I feel it called to me...

jacksgrannie Thu 01-Aug-13 18:18:20

Just registered! Do hope it's us - have been looking to take the grandsons (and their parents!) on a cruise next year - we need to show them what it's like. DDIL doesn't fancy it - thinks the boys will go overboard! They live near Southampton so if we are lucky and get selected we will go by car.

AnnMumsnet (MNHQ) Thu 01-Aug-13 19:12:49

Azure grin

Oh wow. Would love to do this, we live within stone throwing distance of the ships and it would be a wonderful day out.

IwishIwasmoreorganised Thu 01-Aug-13 20:03:54

I've applied - we're away from 10/8/13 -24/8/13 so I won't be reading any emails in that time.

StillSlightlyCrumpled Thu 01-Aug-13 20:16:11

Have applied smile. Sounds fun!

Beckamaw Thu 01-Aug-13 21:34:02

Sounds brilliant!
I have always hankered after a cruise. The children think it would be dull.
I want to prove them wrong and be able to go on a holiday that does not involve sandy discomfort! smile

BerylStreep Thu 01-Aug-13 23:37:57

Would love to go, but we are in NI - any chance of them paying for el cheap Flybe flights?

LindaMcCartneySausage Fri 02-Aug-13 09:27:05

I've signed up! Very keen. I used to work in shipping and love looking around ships!

HerculePoirotsTache Fri 02-Aug-13 17:10:38

We would love this!

JParkson Fri 02-Aug-13 17:28:14

Sounds like a lovely day out! Southampton isn't a horrific distance from me smile <hopeful>

MyMillsBaby Fri 02-Aug-13 20:40:08

Wow - yes please - sounds fab. We've signed up x

AnotherWorld Fri 02-Aug-13 20:46:49

I would have loved it and we are really close - but we are away that weekend. Boo!

Piggychunk Fri 02-Aug-13 22:38:37

Signed up live in Hampshire on the coast so not far away and kids would love it! x

tutu100 Sat 03-Aug-13 00:52:42

Signed up. We often go and watch the cruise liners go out and my kids are always talking about what they might be like inside. Won't ever be able to afford to go on a cruise so this would be a great way of them being able to see the inside of a liner in real life.

Me me me! We just got off the QM2 yesterday but we've only ever been on Cunard ships and we need to see what another cruise line can offer as obviously Cunard has a limited itinerary with only 3 ships.

Spirael Mon 05-Aug-13 10:33:18

MichelleMumsnet/MNHQ, how many people are P&O Cruises looking for, and when will the lucky invitees find out? smile

So I can accept I have no chance and stop checking the thread until the announcement day.

<packs cruisewear hopefully>

Manchesterhistorygirl Mon 05-Aug-13 10:54:00

Gwendoline it's such a great ship though and the staff are so brilliant with children that we keep going back. I agree the itineraries are limited but what's not to love about seven days of doing very little suspended between continents?

As you can tell I'm a wee bit of a fan of Mary's. grin

Me too. grin We just did back to back transatlantic so 14 days of eating relaxing with a 4 hour whistlestop trip to NY. <sigh> I so love that ship...

LaVitaBellissima Mon 05-Aug-13 13:42:32

I clicked the box to say unsure about filming but reading further, I would be happy to do this. Sounds like a fab day!

IwishIwasmoreorganised Mon 05-Aug-13 15:15:13

MNHQ - we go away this weekend for a fortnight. Will we find out before we go if we've been lucky?

Manchesterhistorygirl Mon 05-Aug-13 17:17:19

I've not back to backed TA, but we did back to back TA to Norway. wink Definitely prefer the TA, we're hoping to get another one in this year. I swear I put about 20lbs on. grin

juebloggs Mon 05-Aug-13 18:34:17

Sounds like a lot of fun, tho' intrigued to see whether they can cater for kids from 5 to 15 (always a nightmare!)

IwishIwasmoreorganised

MNHQ - we go away this weekend for a fortnight. Will we find out before we go if we've been lucky?

Erm. I"m not sure but I will find someone who does know.

Thank you!
<cheekyweekendawayonhold>

Are you in??

LaVitaBellissima Mon 05-Aug-13 21:39:33

I hope we get picked! I am already searching for nice family friendly spa hotels in the New Forest, nice to make a weekend of it!
I also hadn't really looked at cruise facilities before, after having a nosey a the website, I am so keen for a good look around.

I meant thank you to Olivia for finding someone who knows when we find out.

If all the places go to you regular cruisers I will stamp my feet!

MichelleMumsnet (MNHQ) Tue 06-Aug-13 10:08:33

We will close this thread later on today and the MNers who are chosen will be notified by the end of tomorrow.

tribpot P&O have provided us with the following response in regard to wheelchair accessibility, "Wheelchair users are very welcome to apply to join the ship visit. P&O Cruises ships are all very wheelchair-friendly and we offer accessible cabins for those travelling with us."

In terms of photo ID, P&O said that the photo ID must be issued by the government, ie. a passport, photo driving licence or government-issued photo bus pass. Anything that is not issued by the government will not be accepted.

TravelinColour , it's only me and Manchesterhistorygirl. That leaves 14 places for the landlubbers wink grin

grin
I missed where it says how many places there will be.
Oooo I am so hopeful.

HurricaneWyn Tue 06-Aug-13 11:28:51

Bum - Michelle I have no government issued ID (I don't drive & have no passport). I've only got my student ID card & my bus pass was issued by the local bus company, not government.

I'll have to regretfully withdraw sad

(On the plus side - more places for the rest of you!)

Did you put in a good application TravelinColour? It's like coming out of an exam when you think you've done really well isn't it? Which is why it's so crushing to be told you've failed to be picked amongst the 100,000 MNetters needed to test floor wipes grin

Hang on, having read re-read the OP, I might have dreamt the number 16. blush. But they must want a good few anyway or it's not much of an event!

grin @ Gwen and her floor wipes!

Probably not, I was being hassled by DS.
I am hoping they are in desperate need of a single mother and a 4 year old boy for a balanced group.

We are both very photogenic grin should have put that on the application

DespicableMa Tue 06-Aug-13 15:14:30

Gah, I can't remember if I filled this one in or not. I only live across the water and would love to have a nose around with my lot to see if cruises could be the future for our family holidays.

Anyone from HQ able to let me know if I did or not (brain is melted from WFH with kids on hols grin)? Pleeeeeeeease!

LaVitaBellissima Tue 06-Aug-13 15:31:22

Despicable if you click on the link to enter it will automatically say thank you, if you get questions then you haven't entered.

Good luck everyone, I really like the sound of this one and it would be my first time meeting other mumsnetters!

Anyone heard yet?

OneLittleToddleTerror Wed 07-Aug-13 16:30:39

Not me. I'm waiting to hear if anyone got the good news yet too.

Is "end of tomorrow" close of business or midnight? Not desperate, oh no...

LaVitaBellissima Wed 07-Aug-13 17:10:47

Not me

I want to hear soon because if I don't get in I will apply for the Uniqlo kids event!

I'm waiting to book a ferry for that day if I'm not in.

aristocat Wed 07-Aug-13 20:59:30

Any news?

Snazzyenjoyingsummer Thu 08-Aug-13 08:38:18

If I remember right winners weren't going to be notified till the 18th or 19th August. So if you need to book other stuff you may have to take a chance.

Michelle said above that people would be notified by the end of yesterday. Seeing that no one has come on to gloat about the email they received wink I assume that didn't happen.

I do wish they'd update the thread though, even just to say that it'll be tomorrow or whatever instead.

OneLittleToddleTerror Thu 08-Aug-13 08:46:36

Snazzy

This is posted by MichelleMumsnet (MNHQ) at Tue 06-Aug-13 10:08:33

We will close this thread later on today and the MNers who are chosen will be notified by the end of tomorrow.

Snazzyenjoyingsummer Thu 08-Aug-13 08:50:20

Oh OK, thanks, I hadn't seen that. I was working from my probably faulty memory of the dates mentioned on the questionnaire. I haven't heard anything either so looks like deadline has shifted.

MichelleMumsnet (MNHQ) Thu 08-Aug-13 10:31:47

Hi everyone, sorry for the delay in letting people know if they've been selected. Things are taking slightly longer than anticipated, but bear with me, and I'll get back to you all asap!

We're in!!! Woohooooooo!

Who else is coming?

OneLittleToddleTerror Thu 08-Aug-13 11:29:41

No email. I guess we didn't get selected. sad

LaVitaBellissima Thu 08-Aug-13 11:33:35

No email either sad

Spirael Thu 08-Aug-13 11:46:51

Nope, we're not wanted again. sad

Spirael Thu 08-Aug-13 12:22:47

Although, if they only wanted one family then that might explain it! wink

E-mail only just came through to be fair, so they still could be on their way to others. However, if they only wanted one family, we probably ARE the closest to the ship....

That should have a wink next to ti!

Nope nothing here. Thought we were dead certs for this one.

MichelleMumsnet (MNHQ) Thu 08-Aug-13 12:47:11

Hi, the families have now been selected and emailed. If you have received an email then congratulations! If not, then please be sure to check back on the insight page for more event days later on.

DespicableMa Thu 08-Aug-13 13:50:06

Aww gutted, thought we might be in with a chance for this one! Might have to challenge you for closest to ship though Skiing grin

Ok! If i stand upstairs I can currently see Ventura's funnel. We're in Ocean Village.

DespicableMa Thu 08-Aug-13 14:04:20

Dammit, ok Ocean Village wins, I'm just outside Hythe so pretty close as the crow flies!

I am really gutted. I seem to be jinxed on these things and thought this one was in the bag.

Oh well, well done to all who got through, have a fabulous day. I'm off to book with Cunard again next year. Cobblers to P&O even though they are owned by the same company

Forgot to add the grin at the end!

grin
<happy dance>

herecomesthsun Thu 08-Aug-13 16:44:13

I saw this too late to enter, but would have been seriously interested in having a look around, exactly because we live quite nearby and have considered doing a cruise with the kids, but would really like to have a look around before committing to several days/weeks and seeing how the kids take to the environment. Actually, we would pay to do that, P and O people, if you are interested in this sort of thing as an introduction to potential new customers?

Ifcatshadthumbs Thu 08-Aug-13 17:00:28

We're in too!!!!!!!

IwishIwasmoreorganised Thu 08-Aug-13 21:34:14

We've not been lucky this time either - just as well really, it would have been an awful lot of driving!

Now I need other ways of convincing DH that going on a cruise could be fun!

aristocat Fri 09-Aug-13 00:14:47

sad nor me

Cannot wait to see/hear what the MNers thought of the ship ...... I need to go on a cruise!

HerculePoirotsTache Fri 09-Aug-13 11:14:13

Oh we didn't get chosen either sad

Manchesterhistorygirl Fri 09-Aug-13 11:17:06

Ahem, some cruise lines (Cunard) let you register for ship visits.

Gwendoline, what are you booking? We're thinking of the TA with the stop in Halifax.

JakeBullet Fri 09-Aug-13 11:20:09

I didn't get picked ever but didn't expect to be as never get picked for anything <sends sad face to MNHQ grin>

Looking forward to seeing the feedback though.....am not envious....oh no grin...much.

I was looking at that too. Coming off the back to back we (there are 11 of us family that go together) think that one way is a bit short. The rest of them are bored with fjords. I didn't do that one as dd2 was too young and the med has been done too.

We prefer TA so it's back to back again or Halifax. Actually, one of the speakers we had gave a decent talk on the Titanic and how Halifax featured so I'd like to visit the museum and cemetery.

I was going to apologise for hijacking the rotten P&O thread but I didn't get picked so ner wink grin

The assistant cruise director, the bloke form Halifax? We saw him talk on our TA too. We've never been to Halifax and as titanoracs we really need to go. We've done bBelfast, Southampton, Liverpool, Cobh and Cherbourg so it's the last one to tick of the connection list. We did the fjords and it was just too bloody wet, so were not going back there.

We've got family in the USA so I think we'll stay with them and sail home. Hopefully we'll be on the same crossing. The beauty if the QM2 is that she's a destination in herself.

(I hope cunard can see the marketing we're doing on their behalf!)

Am thinking of doing one of those mini cruises with DS ....it's more within my price range and if I book it for next summer then we'll be able to save for it. Been looking over the past few days as DS has expressed the desire to have "a holiday on a boat".

The narrowboats and broads boat holidays seem very expensive.

That's the bloke! grin The real test if a true Cunarder is whether you have seen Bob Arno though! grin

Yes Cunard, we need a bit of recognition here...

I think they may have realised when picking that you needed no further persuading to take a cruise, GML grin

Damn. I was going to lie and put that my granny had left me £25,000 and told me to fritter it on cruises but I'd never been and needed persuading grin

Manchesterhistorygirl Fri 09-Aug-13 17:14:20

Bob Arno, no.

But I raise you Bill Miller, John Maxtone-Graham and Stephen Payne. wink

Stephen Payne shock

<bows down>

You win grin

We've done 3 cruises on Azura, she's our favourite (although I'd love her to get rid of the Sea Screen and replace it with Ventura's retractable roof). I'm sure you'll all have a lovely day.
PS. You won't be able to tell on your visit, but the kids' clubs on P&O are excellent.

grin Woohoo!!! Thank you. Happy crumpleds tonight.

Anyone else not received the full details of this yet? Had an email to say we'd been chosen but nothing else since?

Moët in the post since I messages my details back. Sure it will turn up though!

Anyone else heard anything?

LaVitaBellissima Tue 27-Aug-13 15:36:05

I really wanted to do this one!

Ifcatshadthumbs Wed 28-Aug-13 12:49:46

Have heard nothing since the original email. I have messaged Michelle at MNHQ and she has responded to say she will chase it up. Seems odd though. Southampton isn't exactly down the road for us so am a tad nervous that nothing is organised this close to the actual day!

I am concerned that I haven't received my promised info pack - Michelle, can you confirm you have received my details?
Thanks.

RowanMumsnet (MNHQ) Wed 28-Aug-13 16:22:29

Hi there

Sorry you haven't heard anything - we'll ask the Insight team to come back to you ASAP.

MichelleMumsnet (MNHQ) Wed 28-Aug-13 16:28:45

Hi everyone, we've passed on your details to P&O Cruises who sent out the information packs, but anyone who hasn't received them, I can send your email address to P&O Cruises who will send them out via email instead. Sorry for the unnecessary stress!

Yes please, that would be good. Though not going to be able to print anything before Saturday.

StillSlightlyCrumpled Wed 28-Aug-13 17:03:35

Hopefully the email will come soon. Am wanting to book the train but nervous too until have proper confirmation. We are all really looking forward to it. Hope the DC behave!

For those coming by car or train here is some information about where the ship will be. If anyone wants more information, I'm happy to help. We live sufficiently close by that we will be walking to the ship on Saturday, so definitely have local knowledge!
