(345 Posts)
KatieBMumsnet (MNHQ) Fri 14-Jun-13 16:35:23

This thread is for the Mumsnetters who attended one of the exclusive MN screenings of Despicable Me 2 with their little minions DCs on Sunday 16th June. We hope you all had a fab time and enjoyed the film!

We really hope you and your DCs enjoyed the preview screening.
Below are a few questions for you to answer but please do add any other comments you may have.
We'd also love it if you could upload some pictures of your day to this thread.

- Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?

- What did your DCs love best about the day?

- What was your overall experience of the screening?

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Despicable Me 2 to friends and family? Why?

Everyone who adds their feedback to this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will receive a goodie bag packed full of Despicable Me 2 merchandise.

To find out more about the film (In cinemas June 28) and watch the trailer, visit the Despicable Me 2 pages on Mumsnet

Thanks and good luck!

MNHQ

Help!! Trying to print my tickets and it says "no tickets left"!!!!

stacysmom Fri 14-Jun-13 18:40:07

DH is genuinely delighted to be spending Father's Day at the O2! I've been bossed in to playing Gru all week while DD acts out being all three girls... my accent is coming along nicely grin

HokeyCokeyPigInAPokey Fri 14-Jun-13 18:48:56

I just want to check....

I have printed off the A4 sheet that says admit 4 and has a ticket code on it - is that right.

Is there anything else i need to print off?

TheOldestCat Fri 14-Jun-13 19:28:50

DH is usually massively grumpy about going anywhere at the weekend.

But he is very excited about going to the O2 to see this. Nearly as excited as the young uns!

Thanks Mumsnet! (and hello fellow O2ers - looking forward to seeing you all)

fuzzpig Fri 14-Jun-13 20:06:04

Can't wait to be at the O2! All four of us are ridiculously excited!

clux73 Fri 14-Jun-13 20:09:29

I lost my tickets by not understanding I needed to print them straightaway. Feel very foolish and sad!

Manda472 Fri 14-Jun-13 20:33:37

We have an exciting weekend on the cards- DS makes his first holy communion at 2pm tomorrow and then Sunday we are going to the cinema!!!!
Can't wait, the first film was so funny smile
Thanks so much

fuzzywuzzy Fri 14-Jun-13 20:33:56

did you not get a copy via email?

Kneedeepindaisies Fri 14-Jun-13 20:34:17

How Clux? I haven't printed mine yet but I have the email ticket confirmation with the ticket I.d and amount of tickets so presume I'm ok to print that?

Wolfcub Fri 14-Jun-13 20:34:28

Dh and I are unbelievably excited about out trip to Manchester on Sunday. Ds still doesn't know and we are keeping it a surprise but we've just watched the Father's Day t trailer and we're going to watch the first film again tomorrow. I wish we had minion emoticons for this thread

LackaDAISYcal Fri 14-Jun-13 20:37:02

My children have never been so well behaved

The threat of being left at home is truly a great motivator grin

<though secretly I am more excited than they are>

Kneedeepindaisies Fri 14-Jun-13 20:37:21

Clux- if you log back into to showfilmfirst it has an option for view my tickets. My ones are there and I can print them.

LackaDAISYcal Fri 14-Jun-13 20:38:37

Oh, Clux, I haven't printed mine off yet either; our printer is on the blink so I was going to go to the library tomorrow morning to do it.

Are you saying that I won't be able to do that? confused <worried>

Hellohippo Fri 14-Jun-13 20:38:51

Am I the only one worrid what to wear for a place full of MNers, so far I am thinking crocs, leggings, crop top and waterfall cardigan.
Apart from that we're really looking forward to it <smiling minion>

LackaDAISYcal Fri 14-Jun-13 20:39:01

Ah, cross post! <phew>

LackaDAISYcal Fri 14-Jun-13 20:39:51

Yes tech, where are the minion smilies? At the very least we need one with a single eye!

EstoyAqui Fri 14-Jun-13 20:39:52

We are really excited. DD has school fete tomorrow then movie night with the original film followed by part 2 at the o2! It's going to be a great weekend. smile

Katz Fri 14-Jun-13 20:41:30

I had an email reminder today with our ticket and id in.

thruthewisteria Fri 14-Jun-13 20:41:59

Completely over-excited here (& that was just DH & me before we told DD and the excitement level rose exponentially). Thanks mumsnet.

clux73 Fri 14-Jun-13 20:42:06

According to mumsnet if you haven't printed them they have been given to someone else. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news to anyone in the same position as me.

clux73 Fri 14-Jun-13 20:44:28

Nothing shows in my showfilmfirst account - just get the "no tickets left" message.

5madthings Fri 14-Jun-13 20:45:39

I cant wait for this.
Printed ours yrsterday but 'claimed them'on monday and it sent an email with the ticket then to print you log in and go to 'my tickets' and then there is a print option. As long as you have registered and thetefore claimed your tickets via the link it should be ok to still print them?

clux73 Fri 14-Jun-13 20:46:39

And KatieMumsnet has confirmed i've lost them.

noisytoys Fri 14-Jun-13 20:48:42

So so excited. Me and DD are wearing our minion hoodies, minion backpack and DD is taking her Agnes doll (all from our trip to Despicable Me at Universal Studios smile) we are so excited!!!!

clux73 Fri 14-Jun-13 20:49:12

I registered straight away, and sent my RSVP to Mumsnet, but it obviously didn't claim them.

Never mind. That's life.

Hope you all have a fantastic time.

5madthings Fri 14-Jun-13 20:49:34

Oh no clux sad did you not confidm you wanted them when you got the first email? I thought i had lost out as i didnt see the email til monday after the deasline but it was still ok. What a bummer sad

5madthings Fri 14-Jun-13 20:50:19

Oh cross posted sorry, oh that is pants sad

clux73 Fri 14-Jun-13 20:52:01

I thought I had, but it couldn't have worked. I'm a wally.

clux73 Fri 14-Jun-13 20:53:29

It's all fine though, honestly. It's completely my fault.

HokeyCokeyPigInAPokey Fri 14-Jun-13 20:54:17

I just panicked and double checked I had printed the correct thing.

Double checked - all ok!

5madthings Fri 14-Jun-13 20:55:51

sad

Can I ask it says upload pics to this tread, ermm how do you do that?

daisychain76 Fri 14-Jun-13 21:02:40

Really excited too. Going to Manchester (which in itself is a rarity!). Told the DC's yesterday and they are so looking forward to it.

frownyface Fri 14-Jun-13 21:03:57

hokey cokey I have a print out with ticket ID and no. of people attending-thats rights isnt it? panic!

5madthings Fri 14-Jun-13 21:06:37

Yes its a ticket is, it has my name (RL name) and says admit 4, then the cinema address the day and time etc.

Tjer eis a big long code of letters ams numbers 'ticket I'd' on it.

frownyface Fri 14-Jun-13 21:13:06

phew, thankyou mad thing, just had a momentary panic! would be so dissappointed if we werent able to go smile

frownyface Fri 14-Jun-13 21:14:24

see you there all, im the harrassed blonde in the wheelchair! smile

HokeyCokeyPigInAPokey Fri 14-Jun-13 21:17:39

Yes that's the one!

We are just watching the first one as dh hasn't seen it. Girls are so excited about Sunday!

Kneedeepindaisies Fri 14-Jun-13 21:18:45

So just to confirm if I can log into showfilmfirst and see my tickets and it still gives me the option to print, plus i have the email with my ticket confirmation which includes my RL name, number of tickets and the ticket I.D then I'm ok?

I've also had a reminder with the same details.

5madthings Fri 14-Jun-13 21:21:44

Its on TV tomorrow night so we shall watch to then, despite the fact we have it on DVD and watched it last week

Use knee deep if you have the email with your ticket confirmation and you can log in and it gives you the option to print tickets you are fine. The email confirmation is identical is practically identical to the ticket you get when you print out your ticket following the link, I have printed both out...just in case!

LackaDAISYcal Fri 14-Jun-13 21:25:19

I have an email with a long number that is the ticket ID. Does that mean I'm going. Really worried now confused

LackaDAISYcal Fri 14-Jun-13 21:28:59

PheeeeeeYew

Tickets are there.

Would not have liked to explain that booboo to the DC.

Sorry you have missed out clux sad

5madthings Fri 14-Jun-13 21:29:03

Try logging in to the show film page, then go to my tickets and it should give you the option to print, but if you have the email with confirmation/ticket id then it sounds like you are fine. Maybe email mnhq if you want to check?

5madthings Fri 14-Jun-13 21:29:26

Ah cross posted, phew!

LackaDAISYcal Fri 14-Jun-13 21:30:14

So who else is going to Manchester?

MonsterBookOfTyRexs Fri 14-Jun-13 21:56:18

marking place

Kneedeepindaisies Fri 14-Jun-13 21:57:15

Phew! I'm so sorry Cluxsad

I think Odeon or O2 are running a competition about local screenings so maybe give that a try?

fuzzpig Fri 14-Jun-13 22:06:19

Oh no clux sad that's rubbish, and an easy mistake to make. I don't remember seeing anything about a time limit - it is pure luck I printed mine straight away, I'm normally one to leave everything to the last minute!

clux73 Fri 14-Jun-13 22:16:54

At least I can blame DH. Our printer isn't working so I asked him to print them on Monday. He only tried to do it at 6.15 tonight!

clux73 Fri 14-Jun-13 22:17:13

Print them at work I mean

5madthings Fri 14-Jun-13 22:26:31

I got do to print them at work as well as our printer isn't working but I got dp to do it at beginning of week and txt dp numerous times to remind him, but I had already logged in to show film and then it sends the confirmation?

But yes as you can blame dh he can have the job of telling kids and making it up to them, I hope they aren't too upset sad

jes73 Fri 14-Jun-13 23:47:10

Clux73 Did you sign up and book your tickets and received a confirmation email? If you did, the ticket was on the email itself. There was a deadline to go into Filmfirst and book tickets by Sunday 9th.

jes73 Sat 15-Jun-13 00:02:00

Ok now the O2 Arena looks super huge....where do we find the Mumsnet group?

agentlucywilde Sat 15-Jun-13 07:12:04

All ready for Manchester here: the minions came in the post this week (set of three between two DS so I have claimed Dave as my own!) and they have watched the trailer I can't tell you how many times. Not sure who is more excited, the DS or me and DH!

wannabestressfree Sat 15-Jun-13 07:18:22

Very excited smile also off to the O2. Children have been on about it all week

Wolfcub Sat 15-Jun-13 07:20:08

We're Manchester too. DS said this morning "please can we go to the cinema tomorrow" I can't wait until we get there and he sees a minion, it'll shock his socks off

hermancakedestroyer Sat 15-Jun-13 07:48:22

Got woken at 6am this morning by 2 DCs shouting 'We're going to see Despicable Me 2 tomorrow!! Yippee!!'
I think it's fair to say that excitement started midweek at a high level and it's bubbling over the top now!! Roll on tomorrow!! grin

TeamEdward Sat 15-Jun-13 07:53:34

We're so excited too.
DH wanted to paint the DC yellow and put them in dungarees. Even caught him looking at yellow facepaint on Amazon. I have put my foot down.

marryinhaste Sat 15-Jun-13 08:26:27

We'll be at the O2. Watching the first film tonight on TV - dd keeps reminding me to get popcorn for that.

I too am concerned about what to wear. Will dig out my best mum jeans!

ArtemisKelda Sat 15-Jun-13 08:33:58

DS is really excited, we're going to watch the first one again today. I've also promised him that we'll go on the metrolink too and he's looking forward to that as well.

Can't wait! See you in Manchester.

Nerfmother Sat 15-Jun-13 08:38:57

I feel like I should go and get a leopard print scarf. No idea what to where, will probably get all stressed and turn up in a ball gown.

Nerfmother Sat 15-Jun-13 08:47:09

Katie - if I email you the photos would that work? What email?

5madthings Sat 15-Jun-13 08:47:40

Massive excitement here as well, if i had a £1 for every time ds4 said 'we are going to Londond, i am.going to meet a minion and see despicable me 2! ' on a mega excited voice whilst jumping up and down i would be rather wealthy.

I have planned our tube journey from liverpool st to the o2, dead easy only one change and had a look at things to do around north greenwich etc.

This time tomorrow we will be at the train station about to leave!! grin

Kneedeepindaisies Sat 15-Jun-13 11:01:22

Eeek. I'm so excited.smile

Can't decide whether to take the DC on the cable cars or go and see the Meridian Line before hand. DS2 is 5 so not sure how interested he'll be.

I haven't even thought about what to wear! Need to check the weather forecast.

5madthings Sat 15-Jun-13 11:06:41

I debating the cable cars or the mwridian line, t
he observatory is free. There is maritime museum as well...

Weather should be ok... But may be slight chance of rain.. Oh god dont make me stress about what to wear!

fuzzywuzzy Sat 15-Jun-13 12:15:20

Cable cars a cheap and cheerful and very quick, the queues go down very fast. Get a return tho you dont want be stranded at the royal docks (or you might, you wont be lost).

The meridian line when we visited was aaaages, as people queue to take pictures then spend a few minutes each posing....and it is just a line....maybe I'm missing something? But with the kids we decided to give it a miss, we took pictures near it not exactly slap bang at the front of it.

Greenwich museum is always lovely to visit.

HokeyCokeyPigInAPokey Sat 15-Jun-13 12:15:22

I'm thinking about cable cars too. Might park at O2 and make use of free parking then go there and back.

Kneedeepindaisies Sat 15-Jun-13 13:06:57

Do we need a secret MN word so we'll recognise each other on the cable cars?

BellaCalifornia Sat 15-Jun-13 13:08:09

Oh no, words can't describe how gutted I am to have missed this promotion. My DH and his DD have been dying with excitement to see this. This is the first father's day he's had her without a deadline it would have been the perfect Father's Day treat. If anyone can't go for any reason or has spares going please please pm me rather than let the tickets go to waste. We live 10minutes from the O2. Couldn't bare to think there might be empty seats when people are desperate, ill snap them up in a heartbeat.

5madthings Sat 15-Jun-13 13:11:49

kneedeep i just said on the other yhread that i am on fb so if anyone wants to add me send a pm and i will tell my rl name.

I shall have three boys with me smile

LackaDAISYcal Sat 15-Jun-13 13:12:58

I can't print my tickets sad

I have logged in at the library as our printer is buggered and it's now saying it's an invalid ticket code, though it worked OK last night and the tickets were there?
There is no help or anything on the showfilm website eitehr, which is pretty poor.
If it's a case of I should have printed them immediately I logged in or lose them I will be pretty gutted, not to mention a little pissed off.

Help sad

5madthings Sat 15-Jun-13 13:17:11

Oh no have you emailed mnhq? I hope they can sort it. Do you have rhe confirmation email as thar had the ticket on it and if you print that it is the same, i have printed that and the tickets and they are both the same.

I mean the confirmation email from showfilms that you got when you first logged in to claim.

Kneedeepindaisies Sat 15-Jun-13 13:17:46

5- I'm not on Facebook. It's evil.grin

Have you logged in and gone to your tickets? Mine was a bit funny this morning but got there in the end.

5madthings Sat 15-Jun-13 13:19:47

lacka i have reported your post so hipefully someone from mnhq will be able to help xx

5madthings Sat 15-Jun-13 13:21:45

Well i will have three boys and will probably have a boden backpack, its blue wuth red stars. I am a short arse, only 5 2 and the madboys are all blondish with blue eyes. If you want i can pm you names so if you hear a mum saying those names you know its me! grin

HokeyCokeyPigInAPokey Sat 15-Jun-13 13:23:45

Lacka don't enter the code on the first page.

Log in and then click on tickets - when I put the code on in it says invalid code.

But when I go to tickets it's there.

5madthings Sat 15-Jun-13 13:26:13

Yes dont use the link just go to showfilm online and login and then go to mytickets, we had to do that.

Fingers crossed for you x

LackaDAISYcal Sat 15-Jun-13 13:27:34

Thanks 5 smile I reported it as well, but I'll send an email to Helen as belt and braces, though she may not be working today. I've also emailed Show Film First as well.

Yes, I've printed off the confirmation email so have the ticket ID and that it is to admit 4.

I must admit it isn't a very friendly website!

5madthings Sat 15-Jun-13 13:29:58

The confirmation email is pretty much identical to the ticket except the ticket has a despicable me2 picture on it as well. But the code and all the other details are identical.

LackaDAISYcal Sat 15-Jun-13 13:33:17

Not Helen...KatieB!

HokeyCokeyPigInAPokey Sat 15-Jun-13 13:34:41

Lacks that's what I have printed off - they are the same thing.

Don't worry.

LackaDAISYcal Sat 15-Jun-13 13:36:44

There is a despicable Me picture on the email, but it hasn't printed properlly (just a wee red cross) because of the library's security systems I assume.

It's occured to me that the tickets on the website are time limited to stop people printing multiple copies, but I assummed that as I hadn't actually printed anything they would be there for me to print off today. I hope the email is sufficient confused otherwise there will be 4 very upset Daisies on the doorstep of The Printworks tomorrow sad

HokeyCokeyPigInAPokey Sat 15-Jun-13 13:39:31

I think if you have the print out you'll be fine.

5madthings Sat 15-Jun-13 13:41:37

lack the only difference is that instead of the red cross you get the picture, its identical otherwise! So hopefully you will be ok with that?

My backpack is red with blue stars... Not the other way round. Was just tipping assorted crap out of it in preparation for tomorrow!

LackaDAISYcal Sat 15-Jun-13 13:41:47

Trying not to, thanks HokeyCokey smile

If anyone is coming to Manchester I will the one with three wailing children round my knees being escorted off the premises grin

5madthings Sat 15-Jun-13 13:43:28

I think it will only let you print it once so you coukdnt get multiple copies. And it has a name and code on it individual to you.

I think your print out of the email should be fine but hopefully mnhq will let you know.

Have you tried logging in without following the link?

LackaDAISYcal Sat 15-Jun-13 13:50:04

I am such a klutz blush

The tickets were there all along! The little box for the code that automatically came up is a pretty poorly placed red herring. I just tried again, ignored that box and clicked on log-in/edit details again and lo, it was all there grin

Pretty crap user interface will be my first review to add here hmm

Phew, I will be getting disowned by my children

<breathes huge sigh of relief>

LackaDAISYcal Sat 15-Jun-13 13:51:00

oops, I will NOT be getting disowned!

5madthings Sat 15-Jun-13 13:55:00

Yay!!! grin

HokeyCokeyPigInAPokey Sat 15-Jun-13 13:55:02

Yay!!

I thought so!!

AnnMumsnet (MNHQ) Sat 15-Jun-13 14:20:23

LackaDAISYcal - so you're ok now?!

KateSMumsnet (MNHQ) Sat 15-Jun-13 14:27:58

ImaHexGirl Sat 15-Jun-13 15:09:17

Sooooo excited about this! We're having a tv dinner followed by ice cream this evening whilst we watch Despicable Me and DS keeps asking me if it's time yet, he is beyond excited! I'm not sure how much sleep there will be in the Hex house tonight, it almost feels like Christmas the way DS is acting.

jes73 Sat 15-Jun-13 15:20:47

Ok. I am a bit confused here. Is the email not really the Ticket? Do we need to enter the code and get the tickets out?

Wolfcub Sat 15-Jun-13 15:24:41

mumsnet it might be helpful to clarify exactly what the tickets look like. I think going by this thread and the other that most of us just have one aheet of paper with a code on time and date location and number of people to be admitted but others refer to tickets plural

jes73 Sat 15-Jun-13 15:26:49

Wolfclub I have the email confirmation and it just says admit 4 with a ticket code. Do we need to enter the code and collect tickets?
I think everyone at MNHQ may be busy with Workfest.

fuzzpig Sat 15-Jun-13 15:47:24

HexGirl! Is your name because of Scooby Doo by any chance?

fuzzpig Sat 15-Jun-13 15:49:41

Oh and I posted this on the other thread by mistake, I'll not be telling my MN name while we are there tomorrow, simply because my MN name is not known to anyone in my family so DD/DSDs don't know it.

But I will have a TopCat bag if that helps identify me grin

AnnMumsnet (MNHQ) Sat 15-Jun-13 15:57:56

Hi - ok re the tickets, you need to print out (hard copy) either the email entitled "ticket confirmation" or you can log onto showfilmfirst, then click https://www.showfilmfirst.com/service/login.php and log in,
then click on login-edit details and you should be able to view tickets and then print from there.
The ticket says admit X
HTH!

Nerfmother Sat 15-Jun-13 16:22:20

Just bought two minions! Mission accomplished!

HokeyCokeyPigInAPokey Sat 15-Jun-13 17:00:37

No one knows my NN either and would like to keep it that way!!

I will be with DH and dds who are 10 and 7 and mixed race.

Don't know what I'm wearing but will involve a pair if converse!

agentlucywilde Sat 15-Jun-13 17:10:47

I've name changed so I can post pics of the DS afterwards without outing myself to anyone who knows me!

jes73 Sat 15-Jun-13 17:44:54

Maybe a silly question but can anyone tell me where in the O2 we are meeting as it looks pretty big and confusing with loads of stuff happening there!

bico Sat 15-Jun-13 17:50:59

The first Despicable Me film is on ITV1 this evening at 6.40pm. Good timing for tomorrow!

Kneedeepindaisies Sat 15-Jun-13 18:08:42

Is it ok to change my NN to post pics of tomorrow then change it back.

I'd rather not out myself if I can help it .smile

I don't know what I'm wearing but DS1 will be in a bright pink T-shirt. Ds2 will be running round like a loon.grin

5madthings Sat 15-Jun-13 19:05:24

Just trying to work out how to add a pic ftom my phone..

5madthings Sat 15-Jun-13 19:06:28

Ooh it worked! Thats dd but she isnt coming tomorrow.
I shall name change after tomorrow, been meaning to anyway!

grin my DCs love it - my 3yo sings and dances along to the song at the end which is of course immensely cute. Got the song stuck in my head now though!

I won't put any photos of DSDs on as I don't feel it's my place IYSWIM plus they get camera shy anyway but I am happy to put some of my DD on. She is planning on dressing in yellow tomorrow grin

DS decided to ask me in a really loud voice for fruit shoots today in the supermarket - we never buy them but he's had them occasionally at the cinema or similar.

I'm going to have to surrender my tickets aren't I hmm

Wolfcub Sat 15-Jun-13 20:57:33

hex I'm packing a fruit shoot too as ds also has them in hia kids am box when we go to the cinema

5madthings Sat 15-Jun-13 21:01:37

Ha ha my boys have asked if they will be getting fruit shoots as that is what they get at the cinema! I told them we get given drinks and snacks and so they will be happy with whatever they are given. I have bought some snacks today and will sort out some food in the morning as we are going to be out all day...I suspect we may end up with MacDonald at Liverpool st for dinner... But nth.EU are doing g despicable me 2 toys at mcdonalds at the moment so its OK!

I am so excited for tomorrow. I just hope that DS2 (6 weeks) allows me to get some sleep tonight so that I don't nod off in the cinema grin

We are going from Northampton to Euston at 9.31am and visiting Chelsea fc, Arsenal, Big ben, London eye, Buckingham Palace eating somewhere and going to the O2 grin
We are going to need that sit down at the cinema grin

Amazing costumes!!

Excited!!

Off to catch the train in half an hour!!!

marryinhaste Sun 16-Jun-13 08:00:50

Well, watching the first film wasn't exactly a success as they charged about the room causing havoc for most of it! Hopefully they will be better in the cinema <cries>. And I'll be driving, so can't even down wine to help me get through it.

For posting pics, I can't see the "browse" button mentioned in the instructions on either my android phone or android tablet. Am I being stupid, or does it not work on these? Have a picture of DD with a giant minion that I took when we went to the cinema in half term, but can't get it on here.

Nerfmother Sun 16-Jun-13 08:15:51

agentlucywilde Sun 16-Jun-13 12:59:02

My DH took my 3 boys aged 7, 5 & 3

- Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film
A great film for minions of all ages.

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)
5/5 from DH and all 3 boys

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?
My 3 DS's favourite bit of the film was the ending when Gru & Lucy got married and Agnes finally got a mummy. They love all the minions and Gru. They love it when the minions say Banana!

- What did your DCs love best about the day?
They loved all of the day, it was a great experience for them. It's a shame a normal trip to the cinema doesn't have all the extra bits.

- What was your overall experience of the screening?
Boys enjoyed the foyer before the film with the characters, balloons, ipads and colouring in. They loved the film and can't wait to see it again.

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Despicable Me 2 to friends and family? Why?
YES! All my boys, including DH loved the film and said it lived up to expectations. Sometimes you see all the best bits in the trailer and the film isn't that great but thumbs up all round.

Thanks for a lovely father son bonding day!

NaturalBlondeYeahRight Sun 16-Jun-13 14:48:29

LackaDAISYcal Sun 16-Jun-13 14:58:31

Just got home from Manchester. We all had a blast and my DC were remarkably well behaved (for once) though the sugar crash is happening as I type and they are all gru-some <did you see what I did there?>

I'll try and upload some more pics later, once I've got them from camera to pooter.

- Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film

Gru saves the world from manic minions, the girls get a new mum and they all live happily ever after....until the next time!

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)

DS1 - 5*
DD - 5*
DS2 - 14 million * grin
Me - 5*

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?
DS1, favourite is Gru, because he is funny and smart. Favourite part when Dr Nefario turned up with the jelly gunship
DD, favourite was Carl, because he has one eye. Favourite part was the horrible date getting shot with the tranquiliser dart.
DS2, all the minions when they turned purple, because they were funny. Favourite part when the minions got turned into purple weirdo things and the wedding
Me, Agnes; she just steals the film. Favourite part was freeing the minions from El Macho and the wedding scenes (I even shed a wee tear)

- What did your DCs love best about the day?

DS1, watching the film
DD, the excitement of getting there
DS2, every bit of it

- What was your overall experience of the screening?

Well organised, and good fun.

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Despicable Me 2 to friends and family? Why?

Yes, because the storyline is well thought out, the children steal the show, it has the happy ending everyone wants in a feel good movie and it's a brilliant all round family film smile

Thanks Mumsnet grin

Me, my husband and 2 boys extremely enjoyed Despicable Me 2 this morning at The Printworks in Manchester! It was such a good morning and the kids were so excited to meet the minions! We would all give it 5 stars and would defo recommend to friends and family! Kids loved it! As did me and the husband! And excellent in 3d too! I have attached a picture of my minions meeting the minions! Thank you mumsnet!!

missusjen Sun 16-Jun-13 16:04:39

missusjen Sun 16-Jun-13 16:06:34

Thank you so much for letting us have the opportunity to go to this showing, it really has made for a fantastic Father's Day treat for Daddy too!

Really enjoyed it here, adults rating 4/5 DCs 5/5. DD favourite bit was the bubbles at the end DD2 liked the purple minions.
It was a really enjoyable experience, staff were great, really enthusiastic and the balloon minions have survived the journey home. DH was entertained by the bouncers on the door at the cinema and the security checks through the film to check nobody was filming it. I don't usually enjoy the cinema when it's so busy but everyone was so great, it was fabulous.
Film itself was fun, full of humour and action packed, great characters and made us all laugh throughout.
We have already been singing the films praises and it's the sort of film I could watch again and still laugh.

Brilliant trip, thanks for the experience and the memories.

DH, DS (6) and I went to the printworks in Manchester. This was the first time we'd seen a 3d film and I was dreading that bit as I was expecting a headache but it really added to the film. I loved it when the glitter seemed to fall on our heads and the bubbles were just amazing.

Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film

A film full of real emotion, action thrills and out loud laughs.

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)

DH 5
DS 300 (!)
Me 5

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film?

DH The fight with Pollito (and I want a toy Pollito)
DS the 21 fart salute and shooting El Macho with the fart gun
Me YMCA at the end, I nearly cried laughing and the Jam tasting.

Who is their favourite character and why?

DH The minions (the collective), dh thinks they deserve their own show
DS The minions (all of them) because they have the fart gun - spot the theme here
me Gru because he's a loveable rogue who will do anything for his girls

- What did your DCs love best about the day?

DS - seeing the movie

- What was your overall experience of the screening?

We had a great time, the staff were really friendly and helpful especially the guy in the photo I've attached (I'll stick some of ds enjoying himself in separate posts); who was great with all the children he established really good rapport and was making lots of effort to talk to the kids - he set himself apart from the other balloon modellers. As someone else said its a shame that the extra bits aren't standard cinema experiences as ds was thrilled with his mask and push-pop.

I'd love to see the photo of all the MN clan with their minion masks on in the cinema.

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Despicable Me 2 to friends and family? Why?

Absolutely, there was something in the film for everyone, in fact I expect grown ups would get more out of it than children. We all really enjoyed ourselves and we can't wait to buy the film on DVD and watch it again.

Apologies to all other MNers at the O2, DS was a tad over excited before the film started. Didn't quite disgrace himself totally but I was probably guilty of loud parenting just trying to get him to listen to me blush. On the plus side he didn't have a froot shoot grin

Just back from the O2,

rating for film, adults 4/5, kids 5/5

Favourite bits, boy band minions, nacho chip hats (I want one!), fart gun salute.

favourite characters, minions and Dr Nefario.

Overall experience, good - staff were very pleasant, the kids loved having their photos taken with the minions and the balloon minions haven't popped yet.

would recommend the film.

Thanks Mumsnet for a great day out.

goldengreen Sun 16-Jun-13 20:21:24

Ok, to add to my earlier post - this film builds on the first to show just how much of a father Gru has become and the lengths he will go to to protect those he loves. All of us would give it 5 out of 5 (I would maybe take away 0.5 of a point because I wanted to see how Gru's mother would take to her new daughter in law!).

- fav part of film and fav character?
DP loved the description of "El Macho" 's death. DD liked the bits with the girls in. DS's lovedít when they were firing the jelly gun to cure the minions. He really liked the 3-D effect of the jelly coming at him. I think we all love the minions best.

- what did DCs like best?
DS liked the film the best, DD liked the balloon modelling

- overall experience.
Fantastic. It would be brilliant if all films could have this sense of occasion and feel special

- would you recommend it in conversation?
Absolutely, already have done!

daisychain76 Sun 16-Jun-13 20:25:16

Have a very happy DD and DS after a great visit to the Printworks.

"Awesome, even better than the first one" (to quote ds).

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)

5 stars

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?

the fart gun (ds and dd), the 3-D effects (dh and myself)
we all like Agnes, she is a cuties. Oh and, of course, the minions!

- What did your DCs love best about the day?

It's the first time they've seen a film in 3-d so they found that very exciting. Even dh, who goes to the cinema once a week, thought the 3-d effects (particularly the bubbles) were the best he'd ever seen.

- What was your overall experience of the screening?

Excellent. The balloons were a great idea.

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Despicable Me 2 to friends and family? Why?

Yes. I think it's a real film for all ages and I am going to spend the next week making everyone I know jealous!

Wonderful family film, full of laughs for adults and children alike

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)

Grown ups 5, children 5!

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?

DC "all of it" - adults - the 3D bit at the end with bubbles was fantastic

- What did your DCs love best about the day?

The film

- What was your overall experience of the screening?

Ok - there was alot of standing (we were at the O2). I dont think they were ready for us so having arrived at 3.30, we queued downstairs till 3.45 and then stood till nearly 4.25 before we got to sit down. (theres only so much colouring we could do!)

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Despicable Me 2 to friends and family? Why?
Already have done!

missusjen Sun 16-Jun-13 20:34:16

An absolutely excellent film which exceeded expectations and was a fantastic sequel. All four of us rate it a 5/5
Our favourite part of the film was the same as the childrens - when the minions were shot with jam and turned back to yellow! Their favourite character is El Macho! Our favourite is Gru.
The childrens favourite part of the day was taking home a balloon minion and watching the film.
Overall the whole experience was just lovely, a fantastic Father's Day treat. All of the activities in the foyer were brilliant and having a treat and a drink on the seat was great.
I would definitely recommend Despicable Me 2 to anyone - it's a brilliant film which offers something for everyone. There is so much going on that it is great for repeated viewing and the quality is superb. It's also very funny! I can't wait to see it again smile

- Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film
Fabulous film for both children and adults. Full of laughs and great 3D effects. A hoot!

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)
All of us say full marks!

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?
The bit when you see the minions bum when he runs into the sea grin and the bit when Agnes is trying to put off the lady at the door and asks if Gru is pooping. Mainly all the bits when it's about bums and poos (DS, not me in case you weren't sure). Also when they are trying to get the very thin drugged lady home. grin the 3D effects a the end were amazing. Especially the bubbles. And the rain.
Lucy is a great character I loved her. The DCs would say the minions because they laugh at poo and farts all the time.

- What did your DCs love best about the day?
Everything. They felt it was special to be doing something just for them.

- What was your overall experience of the screening?
Great! I've never seen a 3D movie before and thought is was fabulous. (Running out of positive describing words here).

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Despicable Me 2 to friends and family? Why?
Yes! I'm not that keen on kids film but laughed my way through it.
It funny and warm. A perfect film.

Thankyou again Mumsnet. It was a pleasure to be involved in this and I spent a very rare and special afternoon with my firstborn and we thought it was just lovely.

BuiltForComfort Sun 16-Jun-13 20:41:33

Thank you so much for today. We went to the O2 screening.

Summary: Gru and the girls return to fight against villains and have to rescue the minions.

Stars - I would give it 4, ds said 4.5, we both really enjoyed it but thought it wasn't quite as good as the first film.

Favourite part - ds liked anything with the minions; I thought the sequences with Gru being kidnapped and taken to the submarine were great - loved the parascending minions! The 3D bubbles were amazing too!

characters - for ds it was Gru, because he loves his gadgets and guns. I love Gru too as I think he's a great character with lots of expression. Also as I think Steve Carell is fab.

Best thing about the day - the film

Screening (O2) - it was ok but there was a lot of queuing. The greeters weren't particularly in evidence although the balloon ladies were, and were very nice. We couldn't get though to the toilets before we were let through to the screen, and had to faff round going back downstairs. (The greeter didn't know if we could go through or not, and there was such a crowd at the door it seemed easier to go back out).

Would I recommend - definitely!

Thanks again.

(5 is highest and 1 is lowest) I'd give it three, I found my attention wondering at times (but I'm really hard to engage watching films), DD1 gives it 5 and DD 2 gives it 4 because this one is sadder in the middle than the first (IHO)!

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why? The minions boyband (mine), the wedding (both DD's),

- What did your DCs love best about the day? Meeting the minions! Mine was seeing the MNer who's girls had dressed up as 'the girls', I overheard a little boy excitedly tell his dad he'd seen three girls dressed like 'The girls; and the dad said utterly dead pan, 'Yes I've seen the girls dressed as 'the girls' for some reason that just cracked me up completely.

- What was your overall experience of the screening? Overall it was fun, altho a bit chaotic at times, waiting in the foyer and the queues to meet the minions and the balloons, Thankfully MNers queue, and the balloon ladies didn't hesitate to tell those who weren't sure to go and join the queue.

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Despicable Me 2 to friends and family? Why? Absolutely, it's very funny and my girls were absolutely enhtralled, even my youngest who usually gets fidgetty in the middle and I liked that the girls get a mum.

ArtemisKelda Sun 16-Jun-13 20:49:06

Brilliant time - we both really enjoyed ourselves. Here's DS with a minion.

- Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film

Entertaining family film with a few tearjerker moments for the adults.

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)

4 for me, 5 from DS

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?

His favourite part was the Minion Movie audition and the minions on the beach sequences. We both absolutely love the minions.

- What did your DCs love best about the day?

Getting to see the film in 3D and he was delighted with going on the bus too as we got to sit at the front of a double decker

- What was your overall experience of the screening?

Good, well organised. A bit crammed in the foyer as everything was in the same area.

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Despicable Me 2 to friends and family? Why?

Definitely, it's an enjoyable family film and the 3D was very cleverly used, especially in the Minions sequence with the butterfly and the bubbles. I would certainly recommend going to the 3D version instead of 2D.

ArtemisKelda Sun 16-Jun-13 20:51:04

I am ashamed to admit I fell asleep after almost no sleep last night and a cracking migraine. The dcs both adored it and gave it a 5 without hesitation

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?

dd loved "all of it but especially the bits with Margot", ds loved the wedding at the end, and anything with the minions

- What did your DCs love best about the day?

Seeing it first before the friends, and meeting the minions

- What was your overall experience of the screening?

It was really great - thank you Mumsnet!

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Despicable Me 2 to friends and family? Why?

Yes - it's charming and highly entertaining

Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film
Almost perfect family fun

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)
4.5

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?

dh; getting Shannon home from the restaurant
me; Dr Nefario leaving slowly on his mobility scooter thing
DC's; Dr Nefario and the jam going to good use
my favourite character was Agent Lucy Wilde
DC's loved the minions

- What did your DCs love best about the day?
the 3D nature of the film however the best effects weren't until the last third and in the credits...

- What was your overall experience of the screening?

thank you for organising it and the experience was fun overall but there was too much waiting around for comfort, a big queue for photos with the minions, which meant lots of "WHENs it going to start?" from DC's, and after I'd promised them free popcorn they were disappointed not to receive any and I thought the 'ring pop' was a really poor alternative so we bought popcorn anyway...

BUT it was very exciting for them to go into London to watch an early screening of a very good film, thanks again

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Despicable Me 2 to friends and family? Why?

yes I would, because we thoroughly enjoyed the film and I'd like others to

when the credits came on and all the bubbles 'floated out' and nearly ALL the children reached out to touch them i burst into tears stifled a little sob...on fathers day too...such a lovely moment

cjbk1 Sun 16-Jun-13 21:07:52

one more thing-the animal testing bit upset me and wasn't suitable for young children especially those with a pet rabbit, not necessary

A fabulous film for both children and adults. The 3D effects were fantastic.

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)
All 4 of us would give it 5 out of 5

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?
DS When Agnes was trying to get rid of the neighbour from the door and said Gru was putting lipstick on!
DD All of it.
DH When they get married at the end, when Agnes was going to bed and said she thought a chicken was going to pop out of Gru's head.
Mine When they got married at the end and the boyband.

- What did your DCs love best about the day?
It was brilliant from start to finish. We went to the Printworks and there was no queueing, we got to see the minions several times, play on the ipads, lots of colouring and the balloon modelling was great, neither have popped yet!

- What was your overall experience of the screening?
We all loved it, thank you very much Mumsnet.

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Despicable Me 2 to friends and family? Why?
I will definitely be recommending it, it was an excellent film.

DD2 (7) 4

What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?

Gru, he is just so lovely and has such a great turn of phrase!

DD1 – The bit with the jelly gun when the minions went back to normal
DD2 –When all the minions were singing at the end because it was fun

- What did your DCs love best about the day?
DD1 – Watching the film
DD2 – Watching the film

- What was your overall experience of the screening?

It was really lovely to see the film but there was a lot of standing around in a hot foyer with no information as to what was happening.

The balloon Minions were great and the masks too.

The snack was awful, a horrid sugary lollypop thing that i would never let them have,

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Despicable Me 2 to friends and family? Why?

Yes – it was fab, better than the first film!

I also thought the animal testing scene was a bit shock

All in all thanks MN for a great day!

Will add photos later but comments,
All really enjoyed film but kids 7/8 thought bit too much kissy/lovey stuff
Would get 4/5 from all of us even dh who v wary of 3d as can get headaches thought the 3d effects really great esp the bubbles . Film still good even not 3d would absolutely recommend..

Kids liked naked minions/ jelly shooting minions/ any minion bit really
Dh Kevin purple minion!
Me any minion bit though the birthday party bit was fun and the referencing of spy movies..
We all loved the credits bit.

The screening organising not great on the day big q's for balloons after standing around for ages...not sure why they didn't just have a load of those ready ...and the sweets even the kids said they felt sick after! Didn't stop them scoffing them, would have been better with greggs & a fruit shoot .....

Loved the masks though... Really enjoyed being there!!!

- Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film
A fantastic film for all the family, a funny, heartwarming and exciting adventure, with added minions!

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)
4 - me and DH
5 - DDs

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?
DD (6) - anything the minions did!
Me, DH DD (13) - the minion songs at the end, really really funny!

- What did your DCs love best about the day?
Aside from the film itself, the balloons and being able to meet actual minions really impressed the girls, even raising a smile on a cynical teenager's face!

- What was your overall experience of the screening?
Brilliant, really well organised, and lovely welcoming staff.

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Despicable Me 2 to friends and family? Why?
Yes would definitely recommend the film to anyone, particularly other parents, as it is a film that adults will enjoy as much as children, not always the case with children's films.

Thanks Mumsnet and everyone involved for a fab day!

We went to the O2. Thanks for a fun afternoon out.

- Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film
Good solid family film - not an absolute classic, but entertaining for all ages.

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)
4 from me, and a 5 from the DCs

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?
DD liked YMCA at the end, and the Minions sniggering at Ramsbottom's name.
DS specifically liked the Minions Movie at the end - but I heard him laughing like a drain at every piece of slapstick and fart gag throughout - it targetted his sense of humour with millimetre precision.
I liked the Minions Movie and El Macho having the most macho death imaginable
DH liked the bit in the credits where it said "TASER is a registered trademark of the TASER Corporation" but he's a bit strange like that

Fave characters:
DS, the minions
DD, Edith (ninja girl)
DH, Dr Nefario (a huge achievement to make DH like Russell Brand)
Me, Kyle the dog-thing and Lucy

- What did your DCs love best about the day?
DS liked playing the computer game in the foyer,
DD liked being the first to watch the film
I liked Debs' girls dressed up as Margot, Edith and
Agnes - they looked fabulous.

- What was your overall experience of the screening?
Generally good, but the wait around before they let us into the foyer with the activities was a bit tedious.

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Despicable Me 2 to friends and family? Why?

Yes definitely - I wouldn't force it on them in a OMG YOU MUST SEE THIS MOVIE way; it's not going to change anyone's lives. But if it's a rainy day and you want to go to the cinema and be entertained it's a pretty foolproof choice, I can't imagine anyone coming out feeling short-changed or with bored or overly scared children. Good 3D effects as well.

agentlucywilde Sun 16-Jun-13 21:58:57

Right, on the laptop now!

Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film:
A fantastic follow up to the first film, being at least as good, if not better.

Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)
All of us said 5 stars

What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?
My favourite part was the ending - I actually cried. The DS loved the jelly gun and the bubbles at the end which they were trying to catch along with everyone else - those effects were amazing.
Character-wise, DS1 loves each and every minion, DS2 loves Gru. DH liked agent Lucy Wilde and I loved Gru's vulnerability when it came to her!

What did your DCs love best about the day?
DS1: " going into the actual cinema"
DS2: "playing minion rush before we went in" (though he managed to break it!)

What was your overall experience of the screening?
Well organised, well thought out (e.g. no trailers / adverts, just straight into the film), everyone behaved absolutely amazingly in the cinema, I was astounded at how quiet it was considering how many children there were in the audience.
The one surprise was that the free snack (ring pops I think?), I wouldn't let them have ( I have a thing about lollipop-type things) but that's just me and it was still a lovely gesture that those and the water were provided.

If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Despicable Me 2 to friends and family? Why?
Would absolutely recommend it to anyone with children, although DS2 (3yo) found parts of it really scary. It's worthwhile seeing it just for the minions!

Overall, a really lovely event which we feel privileged to have been part of , especially as it was DS2's first ever cinema experience! Many, many thanks Mumsnet!

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)
5*

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?
They both loved everything that the minions did. My dd (8) liked Lucy and her cool weapons. Ds (5) liked the minions - especially their singing.

- What did your DCs love best about the day?
All of it! Seeing the minions, having the balloons, the masks and of course the film

- What was your overall experience of the screening?
A bit too much queuing and waiting! But apart from that a nice time was had by all- thanks

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Despicable Me 2 to friends and family? Why?
It's funny and cleverly aimed at both children and adults. It has great characters and is not corny.

Can you believe what happened? Went to the train station and the train was cancelled. Next one in over an hour. I was supposed to reach at 14.45 according to the first plan. I could have cried. Well, DH came to the rescue and said he would take us by car.
Right, so we were no reaching at 15.15 (Still enough time). The route avoiding Central London had a diversion so we went sightseeing in London (by force). I almost cried, the children did. We were stuck in traffic. The journey that should have taken an hour took 2 and a half hours.
But....we made the movie. And we were glad we did.
We were the ones who walked in late and disturbed you. Sorry!!
We missed the fun in the foyer and the children were really sad, but I am glad we did not turn around and head home(which at one point we nearly did)
We saw the Movie!!Most important!! Feedback to follow!!

Back from the O2 - firstly I wanted to say thank you mumsnet for giving me the opportunity to give the kids a lovely afternoon.

- Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film

Fun sequel, with lots of laughs and suitable for keeping all ages entertained.

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)

DCs would give it 5, I would give it 4.

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?

DD (5) loved the minion getting sucked down in the sea. She loves the minions.
DS (2) also likes the minions. He laughed a few times, but also found the rabbit bit quite scary, and jumped at a few of the 3D effects. He likes any part with Gru's car, too.
I liked the boy band, the bubbles and the YMCA. Not sure I have a favourite character, find the adults hard to "like" and I can't remember too much about the kids, other than the youngest's sickly sweetness.

- What did your DCs love best about the day?

DS - balloon minion
DD - the film

- What was your overall experience of the screening?

It was a bit haphazard. We queued for a long time before even getting up to the foyer, and then everyone just crowded round the minions. Only after a while did the organisers suggest a queue.

The balloon queue took a long time (but the balloon ladies were fab!), and then the queue to get in to the actual screen seemed to take forever. I think it would have been better if we had had allocated seats, as then we could have enjoyed the activities more without worrying about queueing for a seat where we wanted it. I didn't buy any food as I didn't want to have to go to the back of the queue again.

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Despicable Me 2 to friends and family? Why?

Yes, I think it was a good film, and I know friends with older kids who would definitely enjoy it.

Thanks again!

oohaveabanana Sun 16-Jun-13 22:21:56

Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film

That rare thing - a sequel that lives up to an original.

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)
DD: 5/5
me: 5/5
DS: 10/5

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?

They both said they loved every bit - but the little films over the credits - with the bubbles/butterflies etc was really magical. They loved minion island too.

I loved the wedding & the minion-band, and, like the first film, the little touches like the nacho hat, and the minion friday night ice-cream party - fabulous!

We all laughed genuinely out loud all the whole way through it.

Ds & I liked Lucy, & the minions, Dd is a huge Edith fan!

- What did your DCs love best about the day?

The film itself was defn the highlight - especially in 3d. It was the dcs first 3d (& my first in years) & I was hugely impressed - subtle, but effective - made everything feel 'real-er', as well as the set pieces which were great.

- What was your overall experience of the screening?

We loved the balloons, the minions themselves & the sense of excitement and fun. The whole thing felt very special and exciting - especially with all the kids bouncing around (in a very well behaved way, of course)

The timings/information was a bit hit and miss (eg.there felt like quite a bit of queuing; the foyer wasn't ready on time; the lolly snacks, as others have said were not what I might have expected - although the dcs loved 'em! It would have been handy to know what snacks there were going to be - I talked to a few mums in the queue to go in & all of us were wondering whether to buy stuff to take in or not. Snacks are an important part of the cinema experience!)

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Despicable Me 2 to friends and family? Why?

Absolutely - clever, warm, nicely drawn characters, and suspect it would work for pretty much any ages. In fact, ds is already booked in to see it again, & dd will probably take dh who missed out today by foolishly booking in work on a sunday smile

Thanks to MN, and all involved!

Gru turns good, becomes a Dad, loses his Minions and finds lurve

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)
5/5 from both of us

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?
DS's was when the man said his name was Silas Ramsbottom and the minion said bottom. He also loved the minions turning purple
I likes the 3D effects at the end

- What did your DCs love best about the day?
The great film with all the activities and goodies that made it so special, DS especially liked the balloon modellers, minion mask and very unhealthy sweet!

- What was your overall experience of the screening?
well organised and thank you for not having any adverts or trailers before, it's hard enough to get kids to sit through a long film without all that crap aswell!

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Despicable Me 2 to friends and family? Why?
yes, adults and children will enjoy it. A sequal that is as good as the first film!

We had a fabulous day! Thank you MN for the chance to see the film early.

Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film
A feel-good film about the importance of family, however that family may be made up.

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)
5* all round!

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?
Lucy's "Lipstick tazer!" was DS2's favourite part. Gri is his favourite character (DS2 is an evil genius in the making...)
DS1 liked the minions using the antidote jam and the fart gun salute. He likes the minions the best.
DH & I were wetting yourselves at the boyband minions.

- What did your DCs love best about the day?
Both were in awe at meeting "real" minions, and loved the balloon figures too. But the best part was the film. They loved the bubbles at the end too! (and the ride in the cable car)

- What was your overall experience of the screening?
We were a bit early to the screening, and there was a lot of hanging around with very little information being given - we needed an MNHQer to tell us what to do really! Balloon ladies were wonderful, even fixing DS2's Minion when his arm came untwisted.
Bought DSs munchbox things, and I'm glad we did because they don't consider it a real cinema trip without popcorn. Not sure a lolly really cuts it as a snack.

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Despicable Me 2 to friends and family? Why?
Yes, we'd highly recommend it, because it was funny, suitable for all ages and we all left the cinema smiling!

- Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film
A great return from Gru and friends where Gru finds love and the minions are up to their usual tricks.

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)
My DC would give the film 5 stars and we would give the fim 4 stars (as we felt not quite as sharp as the first film).

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?
Our favourite part of the film was when Agent Wild shot off the end of the pier and into the water and then her car coverted to an underwater vehicle.
Our favourite character was Gru as he is funny, cool, trying to be evil and failing miserably and showing his softer side at the bbq.
Dcs favourite part of the film was when the icecream van hoovered up the minions and then the film panned across to them enjoying life on an island. Dc1's favourite character was Margot (the eldest girl) because she was really funny. DC2's favourite character(s) were the purple minions because they were different and made her laugh!

- What did your DCs love best about the day?
Watching the film!

- What was your overall experience of the screening?
A very enjoyable day. It was great fun. The DCs enjoyed meeting the minions and having their photo taken with them! (See one DC with minions below). They also had minions made out of balloons to take home with them which my DCs were thrilled with. When they got to their seats there was a bottle of water, a minion face mask and a lollypop for each person.

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Despicable Me 2 to friends and family? Why?
It was a great film and we would certainly recommend this film to family and friends. Personally I would say it wasn't quite as sharp as the first film but still very enjoyable.

A very enjoyable day out. Thank you Mumsnet for another great opportunity thanks

Thank you so much! We had such a great time and ds sat thought the whole film (dh and I were not expecting that!) We went to the printworks on sun and attempted to shhhhh ds with all his questions!

1) Gru and the girls are back and this time the minions are purple!
2) 5 stars from us and from ds
3) Our favourite part was the purple minions and ds fave was the chicken!
4) Ds loved all the entertainment before the screening and we will have a hard time explaining that that won't happen every time we go to the cinema! He loved the balloon artists and we have looked after his (red - his choice!) balloon minion all day.
5) overall experience was great, would have been good to know water was provided, but that's only a petty thing. We had such a fab time and thank you so much!
6) would def recommend this film to lots of people with kids of all ages.

Am off to work now, but will try and upload a pic later.

Had a brilliant time at the O2 yesterday despite being knackered by the time we got there! (Usual travelling with small children stuff...we were like the family in the Fast Show constantly running through airports with massive suitcases...'come on kids!')

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)

DS (4yo): 'A hundred! I would give it all the stars there are to give it in the whole world, because it was so good.'

I would give it 4, as inevitably it wasn't quite as good as the first film but was still very enjoyable. I was a bit annoyed that Lucy was set up as a capable, albeit wacky, character but still needed rescuing at the end.

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?

DS: 'The great big magnet!' Favourite character is Gru 'because he shooted all the jam at people'.

I must say, the whole sequence where Gru and the two minions were under attack by the purple army, and the ensuing jam-shooting, was incredible - really well shot and so vibrant to look at, all that red/purple/yellow. My eyeballs were vibrating when we left the cinema, along with my ears grin

- What did your DCs love best about the day?

DS: 'Everything! The games, the balloons, the popcorn, the treats, the film - everything.' I think it's fair to say he enjoyed it grin

DD is almost 2 and I didn't think she'd sit through the whole film, but she was brilliant and really loved it. I suspect her best bit of the day was meeting real life minions. She kept barging into other people's photos to hang out with them some more (sorry anyone who was visited by a nosy toddler).

- What was your overall experience of the screening?

A real treat. I was worried about the volume in the cinema as I rarely go these days due to how ridiculously loud everything is, but it seemed quite sympathetically done in that respect. It was DD's first cinema trip and she was totally unfazed by the noise. I would say that it was very hot in the foyer, which made wrestling small children more uncomfortable than usual.

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Despicable Me 2 to friends and family? Why?

Yes I would, because like the first film it's a funny, well made family picture that everyone can enjoy. Not too sappy, not too cynical, not afraid to show 'tough' men modelling family values and respecting women. Also lots of fart jokes.

frownyface Mon 17-Jun-13 08:51:21

great experience, manage to cause chaos wherever we are-if you are wondering why an alarm went off at one point that was down to ds standing on the red pull string in the disabled toilets blush sorry everyone!
full report to follow-thanks mumsnet! really appreciated being the first into the screening so I could sit with dh and ds smile
everyone kind and lovely-not easy being in a wheelchair in those sort of crowds so big thank you all!

5 from me & 5 from DD

What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?

DD likes Agnes because of her cute factor

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why? Their favourite part of the film was the end with the jelly and beating the "bad guy", oh and also the fart gun salute. The minions were the kids favourite, they were silly and very funny.

Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film
- Gru is back and trying to leave his super-villain days behind him, but then he gets a knock on the door...

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)
Tricky this as we only lasted 35 minutes! From what we saw it was a 4 from the adults and a 2 from the DD. The mutating bunny tipped her over the edge and we left shortly afterwards. (Apologies to the lovely lad on the end of the row we had to clamber past to exit).

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?
She did however, love the Minions. She likes it when they dress up as humans (particularly the one who has hair like Lucy's).

- What did your DCs love best about the day?
Meeting the Minions and getting a balloon one to take home. She's christened him Roger.

- What was your overall experience of the screening?
Very good, DD coped surprisingly well with the waiting/queuing - but there's not usually a Minion waiting for her at the end of a line.

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Despicable Me 2 to friends and family? Why?
We would, but felt it lacked some of the charm of the first one (although this is only on the first 35 minutes...), which is almost inevitable with sequels as the characters are so well known to us this time round.

Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film

A fun-filled, heart-warming entertaining movie for all the family

Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)

We all gave it a resounding 5 stars!

What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?

The kids loved it when the minions turned purple. I loved the wedding scene at the end and DH liked the bit at the end when the minions are propping up the screen. Characters: we all loved Agnes best!

What did your DCs love best about the day?

They loved the balloon making and the bits when the bubbles 'came out' of the screen. The whole experience was great for the DCs.

What was your overall experience of the screening?

Well organised and fantastic fun for the whole family. Thank you Mumsnet for picking us. It made our Father's Day.

If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Despicable Me 2 to friends and family? Why?

Yes definitely as it is entertaining for both kids and adults.

ImaHexGirl Mon 17-Jun-13 10:46:06

Here we go!

- Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film

Love conquers all in a classic good versus evil romp for all the family (and minions).

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)

Grown ups - 5*
DS - 5*

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?

Hard to say which was my favourite part as each time I thought I knew, the next scene would make me laugh even more. If pushed, I think it would be a toss up between the ice cream party, the minions driving the car around the mall and the minion tropical island. However, DS did get up to dance to YMCA at the end which also made me laugh a lot!

For DS - I think anything involving the minions was a hit!

Couple of slightly sensitive bits - the animal testing at the beginning was a bit full on and also the purple mutant minion at the window. DS is not easy to scare but he didn't really like either of those scenes and got a bit upset.

- What did your DCs love best about the day?

DS loved his minion balloon and quick cuddle with the minion before the screening. The balloon ladies were fabulous and how they managed to stay so calm with all the balloons they had to do was amazinf. DS has christened his minion Bob. I think the definite highlight though was watching the film! I loved seeing the effort that others had made into dressing as characters especially the three lovely girls who dressed as Edith, Margo and Agnes!

- What was your overall experience of the screening?

The seats were really comfy and it's the first time I've seen booster seats for small people. It was great to see the O2 as well. Downside was that description of a snack was a bit misleading and not something I would have chosen for DS - popcorn would have been better. I'm glad we'd bought some pick n mix as otherwise I think DS would have been asking for treats halfway through. Masks on the seats were a nice touch. Queing was a bit of a pain and it was quite stuffy/ crowded in the lobby and the staff did seem to be a bit caught out with everything that was going on - almost as if they had forgotten it was happening until a mass of MNer's rocked up with excited children! Also I know the security guards at the door had to do their job but to be honest they could have done with lightening up a bit given it was a family event. It's not as if they were at the G8 summit. It would have also been a good idea to go down the massive queue whilst we were all waiting asking us to switch phones off then rather than at the door. Another plus though was not having to sit through multiple adverts/ trailers before the film started!

The 3D was fab - we've been to a few now but it was much more subtle than others we've seen so it really did seem to enhance the experience rather than dominate it totally. It was the first 3D film (or film for that matter!) that DS sat through without making various requests/ demands/ massive fidgeting/ seat hopping. He was transfixed for the whole film, really got lost in it and interacted with it.

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Despicable Me 2 to friends and family? Why?

Absolutely - there was something for all the family. It is definitely a family/ children's film but the level of detail was great and it was easy to watch. I would put a caveat on it though for anyone with particularly sensitive children that there might be a couple of bits that could scare/ upset them. Overall though, it was a great sequel to the first film (which we watched on Saturday) and made us laugh as much if not more. It's not often you watch an animated sequel and feel that it was a worthy successor. We'd seen trailers for the film when we'd gone to see Epic and it was good to see that there were funnier bits in the film and they hadn't put the best bits into the trailers which can sometimes happen if the film is weak overall. With the cinema being so expensive nowadays you have to really pick and choose what you pay to see in the cinema. If I had paid to see this film would I still recommend it, yes!!

Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film

Brilliant, hilarious, engaging and great for a family to watch together.

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)

We all give it 5 stars.

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?

I love the little subtle references to the children not having a mother (quite poignant) and of course the minions at the beach.
DD loved the end – she thought the wedding was lovely and was glad Agnes had a mother and she loved the minons turning purple.
DS loved the minions and the scary bits where the minions became rowdy and the jelly shooting part. (He would like a jelly shooter for his birthday!!)

Favourite character – DD and Me – Agnes DS - Kevin

What did your DCs love best about the day?

They loved the movie and the fact that it was screened in the O2 only for them (well, Mumsnetters of course) and can’t wait to boast about having seen it already.

What was your overall experience of the screening?

I missed to fun bit but I think it was well organised and there were many happy faces so thats the main thing. Thank you again,Mumsnet.

If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Despicable Me 2 to friends and family? Why?

I would definitely recommend it as I think this film has a bit of everything for everyone and will appeal to a wide range of people. DD is already set to talk about it for Show and Tell.

AnnMumsnet (MNHQ) Mon 17-Jun-13 10:51:57

Hello everyone and thanks from MNHQ for all attending!
I was there too (incognito) with my lovely DD aged 10 and JenniferMumsnet.

It was fab seeing all of you there smile

My feedback

- Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film
An ace, all round fab family film. Loved the bubbles at the end and the 3d was very cool

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)

I'd say 5* and my DD would too

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?

We loved the purple minions because they had very crazy hair!

- What did your DCs love best about the day?

Seeing at film at the o2...it's such an amazing venue (to think they were wondering what to do with it after 2000, who'd have thought!?!)

- What was your overall experience of the screening?

brilliant...lovely as ever to see MNers in the flesh!

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Despicable Me 2 to friends and family? Why?

yes - good family fun!

oohaveabanana Mon 17-Jun-13 11:02:59

I just wanted to add: my two haven't stopped talking about it today and swopping lines & giggling.

Dd has taken her minion mask in for show and tell, & was dancing round in it at drop-off (bet her teacher loves me this morning...)

And my comments about info and snacks (earlier) are definitely in the 'if you do something like this again & want to make it better' vein - we really did have a great time, & thank you again mn and all involved flowers

Oh, and thank you to the lovely mn-er whose ds adopted mine and took him to the Sky thing afterwards, which we also loved ... lovely to meet you & your ds. smile

TheOldestCat Mon 17-Jun-13 11:21:35

Thanks for a lovely day out.

Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film

Over to DS (3) on his first ever trip to the flicks: "It maked me happy".

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)
4 out of 5 (grown-ups)
5 out of 5 (DC)

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?
me, DH and DS: the minions! Because they're daft and very funny (for DS it's because they said 'bottom!')
DD (aged 6): Lucy because she was funny and Margot because she's the oldest.

- What did your DCs love best about the day?
The film - they were spellbound.
DH and I had memories of 3D from the 80s and were expecting cardboard green and red specs. We were massively impressed with the 3D (especially the bubbles and jelly guns like others have said). It was great.

- What was your overall experience of the screening?
Fab - a great way to go to the cinema; we enjoyed the party atmosphere. Queuing was a bit too long for DH as keeping control of the three-year-old is a challenge, but we were so enjoying our first cinema trip with all of us (usually we take it in turns to go with DD) that is was all good. Thanks to the balloon ladies who were fab!

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Despicable Me 2 to friends and family? Why?
Yes, it was funny and joyous. One of those films where you get a lot of the giggles, as well as the children. I preferred the first one, but this was a very good sequel and there's lots of fun in the send-up of action movie cliches. The DC loved it and DD is already recommending it (ie showing off) at school.

Cheers again, Mumsnet minions!

One sentence review: a funny, fresh family film
Stars: definitely five, for the keeping them enthralled factor
Fave part and xter: the little ones loved minion dave and Stewart- I see a double act spin off! Older ds (10) loved the golfing minion. Best part for them was anything repeatable like silly phrases. I've cream van went down well.
Best bit of the day: the little ones liked the colouring, ten year old liked the film, and seeing minions in the flesh.
Experience: bit messy at first, hanging around to go up followed by massive bundle to see the minions! Didn't even see the iPad game which is a shame as ds would have enjoyed it ( I have downloaded it!) seating was fine except we had to sit in two rows which meant I couldn't laugh along with one of them, but the treat and mask was fab. Nice touch that the ring pops were despicable me themed.
Yes, would and have recommended it. Very funny with silly bits for the children and nodding along bits for me ( don't ever grow up, sob!)

motherofmuddles Mon 17-Jun-13 12:02:27

Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)

Definitely 5/5

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?

Loved all of it and thought the end 3d credits amazing. Fav character is Dave the Minion/all the minions

- What did your DCs love best about the day?

They loved watching the film and feeling special that they saw it before it goes on general release

- What was your overall experience of the screening?

Honestly and dont want to be ungrateful but wished there had been more to do in the foyer

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Despicable Me 2 to friends and family? Why?

It has already come up in conversation and I've recommended it. Very often sequels are not as good but we thought this one was even better than the first
Thank you to Mumsnet and Universal for a great afternoon flowers

bico Mon 17-Jun-13 12:21:20

We had a great time, thank you.

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)
A clear 5 from both of us

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?
ds - lipstick taser
me - wedding band

- What did your DCs love best about the day?
Seeing DM2 before any of his friends

- What was your overall experience of the screening?
We really enjoyed our day and loved meeting the Minions (photos to follow).

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Despicable Me 2 to friends and family? Why?
Would definitely recommend DM2. Lovely story, great animation and as good as the original, which is rare for a sequel.

TheOldestCat Mon 17-Jun-13 12:59:29

Ah TeamEdward - think we were standing in the queue behind you (I'm in your photo of the vipers waiting in the foyer!).

We had a quick chat about the non-Mumsnet cinema-goers being appalled to turn up and find a bunch of kids and minions rushing about!

fuzzpig Mon 17-Jun-13 13:01:53

I was at the O2 with DD (6 next week) and my two 15yo DSDs.

- Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film
Gru saves the world and finds love, with plenty of laughs along the way, in an action-filled yet tender family film.

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)
Five from all four of us!

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?
We all love the minions, I don't think any of us could choose between all their funny moments. Though the first to spring to mind was the "hehe... Bottom" bit when Ramsbottom tells them his name! We were also in hysterics at the Minionised version of "I Swear" at the wedding, and the YMCA after. I will never hear those songs in quite the same way!

- What did your DCs love best about the day?
The experience of visiting the O2 (I'd been in 2000 with school but not since!) and seeing the film before anyone else!

- What was your overall experience of the screening?
Amazing! I am a bit annoyed at myself for being too socially inept to talk to many other people, but it was a lovely day and great to do something with the 3 girls that was very different to our usual weekends. I was really happy that there were colouring tables - the girls didn't want to 'meet' the minions and I was really tired/shy so it was great to be able to sit and colour in the lovely pictures while still feel we were participating. I didn't mind the sweets although it's not what I'd normally choose for a cinema trip, but I was quite excited to get a Push Pop as I haven't had one since I was about 10!
The only thing I didn't like was that I found the security staff in the screening a bit unnerving - he kept walking up and down the aisle and looking down all the rows with his camera thingy (I guess that is just because it was a preview though?) - but I doubt I would've even noticed that if I wasn't sitting next to the aisle.

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Despicable Me 2 to friends and family? Why?
Of course! I still recommend the first one to those who haven't seen it, and the sequel is brilliant. The plot was really engaging but the film still has a heartwarming feel (I may have got a bit teary at the end...) and you'd have to be mad not to love the minions!

whatwereyouthinkinof Mon 17-Jun-13 13:27:30

Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film

Wonderful fun film for all family.

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)

DS (5); A Million!
Me ; 5*

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?

DS adores the Minions, Dave in particular (and especially when they were singing) but his favourite parts of the film were the 21(22) fart gun salute...and the jam splat shooting of the purple minions... oh and as we only live 4 miles away from Ramsbottom and all the ILs live there, the Sheepsbutt joke is now firmly in his repertoire!

I just love Gru....the sarcasm, the fatalistic resignation, the soft heart ... I actually think he could have been modeled on my DH!!!

- What did your DCs love best about the day?

Meeting 'real' minions! He threw himself at them and had to be dragged away! Being given his own balloon minion, and finding a drink and a sweet waiting by his seat.

- What was your overall experience of the screening?

I thought it was amazing...such a fabulous experience! Balloon modelling, colouring in, 'real' minions, ipads to play the free ap on, food and drink and lovely meet and greet people. If all cinema experiences were as fun as this we would be there all the time.

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Despicable Me 2 to friends and family? Why?

Absolutely! I already have. It really is a fun packed film for all ages.

Unfortunately I had to duck out with DD2 as it was too loud for her - not sure why this didn't occur to me beforehand, I think I just forgot how loud films are at the cinema blush - so DD1 is going to answer the questions smile

- Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film:
I liked it, it was fun.

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)
4/5

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?
When the minions turned into purple things. I liked Gru best because he was good in the film.

- What did your DCs love best about the day?
The balloons, and meeting the minions.

- What was your overall experience of the screening?
(Me this time, not DD). It seemed well organised, the activities to keep the DCs entertained beforehand were good. It was a shame we had to queue for so long though, and (minor niggle) I'm not sure a ring pop can really be described as a 'snack'. Overall good though, we had a great time.

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Despicable Me 2 to friends and family? Why?
(Me again) I would recommend it as a good family film with lots for parents and kids, both younger and older, to enjoy.

Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film

Lovely to meet the characters again, entertaining for kids, not as charming for adults as the original Despicable Me was. My sister fell asleep! But her dd, aged 8, loved it, as did my ds.

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)

3 (me)

5 (kids)

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?

Apparently the minions doing YMCA at the end. Favourite character is Gru for both of them.

- What did your DCs love best about the day?

The whole experience. They loved seeing it early, before general release, loved the bottles of water and were very excited by the face masks. They were pretending to be minions all the way home.

- What was your overall experience of the screening?

Very enjoyable, adults slightly disappointed it wasn't as great as the first film, but that was such a high it would have been hard for the follow up to be as exciting.

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Despicable Me 2 to friends and family? Why?

Yes, I'd say the kids really enjoyed it.

edam Mon 17-Jun-13 13:56:30

Ooh yeah, 3D thing - I'm usually against this fashion for 3D, seems distracting and irritating for those of us who wear glasses and have to cope with another pair on top but this was really well done. Loved the bubbles at the end - both kids were trying to 'pop' them.

fuzzpig Mon 17-Jun-13 14:13:24

Yes those bubbles were incredible!

(I'm another one who has to wear the 3D specs over normal ones - it's a great look isn't it grin)

What an amazing experience we had yesterday.
DH had a Father's Day lie in and therefore didn't have time for his Gru makeover but the little ones dressed up and had the best time ever considering it was 'only' a Cinema trip.
Will add a full review later when I have more time and maybe if I can work out the namechange thingy I will add photos of my little Margo and Minion enjoying all the fun

nenevomito Mon 17-Jun-13 14:29:49

1. Absolutely hilarious and very appealing to my two children.

2. I'd give it 4, DD gave it 5 and DS gave it 3 as he freaked out at the evil minions.

3. DS's favourite parts were when Gru dressed up as a fairy princess and when he said "try again, a little less like a zombie." DD liked the bit at the end in the credits, but she's rather small so didn't get all the rest of the film.

4. Meeting the life-size minions.

5. Very good and loved the fact that there we didn't have to sit through hours of ads too.

6. Already have. Brilliant film, very funny. Sequels can be touch and go, but because it had a completely different story line, it worked really well.

TeamEdward Mon 17-Jun-13 15:14:06

The minions changing into the mutated minions (or 'when the minions went all purple and crazy!') We loved the minions so much.

- What did your DCs love best about the day?
Meeting a real life minion although oddly neither wanted to get too close

- What was your overall experience of the screening?
So much fun,the balloon modelling, colouring and real life minions made it even more special

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Despicable Me 2 to friends and family? Why?
We've already been telling everyone all about it! It's that rare example of a sequel being as good as the first film. Everyone should go!

- Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film

Very funny on many levels.

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)

We would both give it 5

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?

DS liked the chicken in the restaurant and the minion running naked into the sea parts. His favourite characters are the minions in all their forms

- What did your DCs love best about the day?

DS loved the balloon minion and wearing the 3D glasses. We got quite a few strange looks on the tube home as he insisted on wearing them!

- What was your overall experience of the screening?

*We had a fantastic day. Thankyou for choosing us.

I would suggest that the activities at the beginning could have been better organised as DS was pushed out of the way whilst waiting to get a picture with a Minion and then he didn't want to go back. This meant he was asking all the way home about his Minion picture which sadly we didn't get.

A bit more information whilst waiting in the foyer would have been nice as it was quite hot and DS was getting antsy waiting.*

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Despicable Me 2 to friends and family? Why?

Absolutely. The film was great. The venue was perfect and DS is already asking to watch the movie again. It is definitely going to be purchased in 3D as soon as it is released.

5madthings Mon 17-Jun-13 16:17:49

OK boys are back from school so shall get them each to add a review.

A funny film, GRU defeats baddies and finds love along the way!

Ds2 gives it five stars!
Ds3 gives it five stars!
Ds4 gives it thirty billion stars...he REALLY liked it! He was laughing hysterically at some bits, I felt a bit bad that he was laughing so loud but has loved it!!

I gave it four stars.

Ds2 fave bit of the film, when el macho tried o send GRU and Lucy into the volcano on the shark rocket but they escaped.
Ds2 fave character is Lucy because of her cool weapons...all the boys want a lipstick tazer!

Ds3 fave bit of the film when GRU got on his motorbike to go rescue Lucy.
Ds3 fave character is GRU because of his car and bike and he is really cool.

Ds4 fave bit of film, when they squirted the purple minions with the antidote and they turned nice again! (He found the purple minions a bit scary, needed a cuddle when they came on and tried to get the girls but he likes them even tho they are a bit scary)
Ds4 fave character is Edith cos she is a cool ninja and ALL the minions!

Their fave bit of the day was meeting the minions! And watching the film.

Overall experience of screening, the film was awesome, loved the 3d, esp the bubbles and the minions falling out of the screen!

We were at the o2 and it was very busy, lots of queuing, we didn't manage to get a balloon sad and I felt rushed when trying to get pics of boys with the minions, felt that could have been better organized.

They enjoyed the colouring in and the game on the iPad they got to play.

They liked the snack but I am glad I bought them a kiddy snack box each as the 'pushpop' was a bit pants tbh.

Overall it was a great day tho, despite our nightmare train journey to get there! We loved the film and will def be recommending it (already have) and will also buy it as soon its out on DVD.

Thanks mnhq for a great treat and it was lovely to meet s many other mnetters and their children who were all well behaved!

Shall come back later to add photos smile

5madthings Mon 17-Jun-13 16:19:06

- Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film
a great family film - enough laughs to keep parents interested as well as children
although to be very picky (because we did love it) it was too violent and Lucy Wilde's character was very soppy/lacking in self confidence/not a good role model (except for first scene), which really differs to the girls who are great.

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)
Parents - 4
DC - 4.5

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?

favourite part:
DC - when Gru pretended to be the fairy
Parents - Minions on the beach and doing YMCA

Favourite characters:
all - all the minions!

- What did your DCs love best about the day?
all of it - it was all great - meeting the minions, doing the colouring, seeing the film

- What was your overall experience of the screening?
very good

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Despicable Me 2 to friends and family? Why?
YES. See above.

5madthings Mon 17-Jun-13 16:27:51

Oh yes makes minions on the beach! Fart guns, fighting with the chicken, lots of 'classic' bits that will be remembered.

Solo Mon 17-Jun-13 16:28:07

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)

5* well a million, but I think that's a 5

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?

Dd loved the 3D. She and I hadn't seen a 3D film before. Dd loved Lucy because she was a spy and she (Dd) loved her weapons.

- What did your DCs love best about the day?

Dd 'loved the way it was sunny outside!' hmm or.........she loved the minion balloons that those lovely, patient ladies made up for all the children before the film.

- What was your overall experience of the screening?

Dd loved the cinema, but found it all too loud for her 6yo ears. I quite often found her to have her fingers in her ears.
I liked the O2 cinema; I don't know how old it is, but it was nice and clean and welcoming. I also liked that it was straight into the film and had no ads for future films that the Dc's could nag you to go and see.

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Despicable Me 2 to friends and family? Why?

Yes I would. It's a great and funny film for the whole family.

Firstly, thanks MN for tickets. A great afternoon.

1. Action packets, incredible visuals with lots of giggles in goggles.

2. 4/5

3. When 'they kisssed' and the bubbles at end.

4. The film, they sat still and were mesmerised. DD liked Lucy the best.

5. Overall impression of screening, was excellent. All very well behaved children in cinema too!

6. Would certainly reccomend - have already in fact.

Thanks again!

MyelinSheath Mon 17-Jun-13 18:09:26

The film is about a reformed evil character juggling good vs evil and raising 3 kids.

Me: 4 Kids: 5

Favourite part of the film: Where they snigger at Silas Ramsbottom's name.

Favourite character and why: Gru because he sneaks around and spies on other people.

What did your DCs love best about the day: The end of the film.

Overall very positive although wish we hadn't got there for 3:30 as there was a lot of waiting around.

Yes I'd recommend it, it's a fun family film that everyone can enjoy.

Yas1 Mon 17-Jun-13 19:10:13

We would give the film 5 stars as it was so funny.
Favourite part if the film was when De Gru dressed up as a fairy. The kids loved all of it. The dc loved Lucy and all of the minions.
We all lived meeting the real life minions and the dc loved the ballon minions.
Really enjoyed the whole afternoon but thought that instead of the ring lollipop a little bag of popcorn could have been given, giving a proper feel of the cinema.
So far today I have mentioned the film to everyone I have met and recommend that it's watched. No doubt will get the DVD and have to watch it a million times like the first movie.

fuzzpig Mon 17-Jun-13 20:02:32

Thank you Mumsnet for a fantastic afternoon for all of us and an extra special Fathers Day treat for DH!!

1. A fantastic film for minion's of all ages and with a happy ending - what more could you want!!

2. 5 stars from us
DS(5) loved the minion fire engine and the end credits with the trumpets!!
DD(3) loved the baddies!!!
They both loved the Minions and wanted to bring one home!

3. Unfortunately thanks to London traffic we missed most of the foyer fun but they loved meeting the minions and DS loved playing on the IPad game! They both loved the sweetie rings and masks!

4. We really enjoyed it and felt very special seeing it before general release. The cinema is lovely and it was our first visit to the O2 Arena which is awesome! It was great seeing other vipers too!
I think it might have helped to have allocated seating as we missed some of the foyer fun (as well as being late!) by having to queue to go in. Whilst the DC's were thrilled with the ring lollies I think I would have preferred popcorn!!

5. We would definitely (and already have) recommend the film. We all loved it and the 3D experience was amazing with both DC's trying to catch things. DH and I were very impressed too as the last 3D films we both saw were decades ago and things have improved somewhat since then!!

A fantastic experience and we are so grateful we were chosen grin

- Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film

Fantastic film for kids and adults, just the thing for perfecting your Gru accent.

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)

I would give it 5 stars as did my 18 year old niece who came with us. The DDs (6 & 9) gave it 5 million stars each and haven't stopped talking about it since.

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?

They both loved Gru, DD2 loved the bit where he dresses as the fairy princess and DD1 liked the bit with the wig on his date.

- What did your DCs love best about the day?

They loved everything about it, but being able to see it before other people made them feel very special. I liked the balloon minions, they're great, we have two Carl's, who I hope never pop!

- What was your overall experience of the screening?

Really plositive, everything ran really smoothly and the kids had a fantastic time with no stress for me!

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Despicable Me 2 to friends and family? Why?

Definitely, have already recommended it to loads of people and my niece was on Facebook as we left the cinema saying how great it was. It must have been good for her to describe it as cool and awesome to her friends!

Thanks Mumsnet for making it happen, we had a great day.

- Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film

Bloody brilliant family film, with humour suited to both adults and children!

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)

5* Off the dc and I.

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?

My favourite was Agnes, she is too cute! Ds's was all the minions and Dnephew's favourite was Kevin the minion.

- What did your DCs love best about the day?

Ds liked the minions in the film and foyer, balloon minion and the colouring in. DNephew liked the iPad games.

- What was your overall experience of the screening?

I firstly would like to say the staff in the foyer were lovely, helpful and informative when asked what was to happen next. Although if you didn't ask you would of been wondering.
I avoided the queue's as I was there on time at 3.25pm grin But was at the end of the queue to get in.
Going into the cinema eagerly to find our snack, I was gutted to see a push pop. Ds is 5 and became a sticky mess. Dn didn't want his at all and I ate mine as I was starving. It should of been clearer what the 'snack' would be, as a push pop is not a snack, a snack is something that fills you for a little while. Like popcorn or nachos. wink
The film was brilliant! Better than the first imho and really glad to not have to see trailers at the beginning, I think it did get a bit boring in the middle but soon livened up again. I am a bit meh about 3D films but this was made very well.

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Despicable Me 2 to friends and family? Why?

Yes I would, and will take the dc again when it comes out at the £1 screenings with their new Minion soft toys their Grandad has promised them and mine

Thanks for the tickets, it was really nice spending a day in London with ds and dn and although nothing to do with the film, dn had some amazing firsts as had never seen the O2 or Big Ben etc.
Memories I will keep forever smile

- Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film.-

Hilarious family friendly film.

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)

DS1-4
DS2- 1000
DH-5
Me-5

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?
DS1 liked the jelly guns and his favourite characters are the minions because they are always so funny.
DS2 liked the Ramsbottom but and the fart gun.grin His favourite characters are the minions because of their voices.
DH and I liked the boyband and YMCA at the end. I was crying with laughter. DH's favourite characters are the minions because he loves a good fart joke. My favourite is between the minions (for all the reasons above) and Gru because he is funny, vulnerable and brave all at the same time.

- What did your DCs love best about the day?
DS1 loved the IPads in the foyer.
DS2 loved every single bit.

- What was your overall experience of the screening?

It was a great experience. We arrived just before 4 so didn't experience any of the waiting around. DS2 loved meeting the minions and the balloons (although it is sadly no longer with us).

The only thing I found confusing was the queue. I joined it because everyone else did but didn't really know why I was there.grin Had a lovely chat with a Mumsnetter about wearing Minnie Mouse ears on the school run. <waves>

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Despicable Me 2 to friends and family? Why?

Yes and I already have! I would recommend it to adults for the boyband scene and for the children because it was hilarious. I would also recommend the 3D. This was my first 3D film and now I get what the fuss is about. The bubbles at the end were lovely.

Thanks Mumsnet for giving us the chance to go. All the children were so well behaved and although I only spoke to a couple of Mumsnetters- thanks to the lady who showed me how to turn my phone off smile- everyone seemed so happy and genuinely pleased to be there.

KneeDeepInDaisies Tue 18-Jun-13 08:21:08

Oops forget to say. I love how the film showed that families come in all different shapes, sizes, ages and colours.wink And that you don't have to be "related" to be family.

- Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film

Fantastic fun for young minions, old minions and wannabe super evil masterminds.

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)

Me - 4
DD1 - 5
DD2 - 5
DS1 - 5

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?

Their favourite parts change every five minutes. They loved it from start to end especially the beach scene where you saw the minions bottom grin They also loved the bit where the purple minion jumped up at the window of the house, it scared them all and makes them laugh now thinking about it. They loved the bubbles at the end as well and although I loved the whole film that was my favourite part as the children were just mesmerised by them and tried to grab them...Oh and DD2 keeps going on about the butterfly as well!

- What did your DCs love best about the day?

The DCs are aged 8, 7 and 6 and have never been to the cinema before, so add into that, that it was at the O2 in 3D and there was no doubt this was going to be an amazing day for them. They loved it from start to end (apart from the standing around/queuing) but if they had to pick just one thing then it would be the film and I have already had demands to go and watch it when it comes out on general release and to get the DVD when it is released!

- What was your overall experience of the screening?

The film and day out was amazing, however, the fun in the foyer was a bit of a let down and just turned into an hour of queuing. We queued to have our photos taken with the minions but because we then needed to queue to get into the cinema (DD2 was scared we wouldn't get seats together if we didn't queue to get in) we didn't get a chance to play on the ipads, or do colouring in or get any balloon figures and so the DC were a little upset about that. It may have been better to let people into the cinema sooner and had the balloon ladies going round the cinema making balloons for everyone whilst they waited.

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Despicable Me 2 to friends and family? Why?

100% and I have already for all the reasons I have already mentioned above but mostly because it has put a massive smile on my DC's faces and they haven't stopped talking about it and acting it out.

Finally I would like to say a massive thank-you to MNHQ for organising all of this (and sorting my ticket issue out when it went pear shaped) it really was a huge treat for the DCs and a pretty big one for me as well.
thanks thanks thanks

Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)
I would easily give it 5 stars, as would DD.

What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?
Lipstick taser and fartguns were the most memorable bits for DD, she was laughing about them for hours after! Lucy was a big hit as a character - the happy-ending wedding when she became official mother to the children was 'sooooo great' according to DD. 3D bubbles at the end topped it all off.

What did your DCs love best about the day?
Photos with the minions and balloon making made it extra-special for DD

What was your overall experience of the screening?
Very well organised, friendly staff and great entertainment

If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Despicable Me 2 to friends and family? Why?
Definitely. I have to admit I wasn't blown away by the first one so expected not to enjoy this screening all that much personally, but I wasn't bored once! Really funny bits and 3D worked really well (though a little too well at times for DD as there were a few scary bits that freaked her out for a while). She loved it on the whole though, it was a really memorable day.
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to have a really memorable Father's Day, DD was happy, therefore DH was happy!

MrsMinion Thu 20-Jun-13 17:21:05

Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film

Just as funny, clever and entertaining as the first film

Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)

5 from all of us (including DH!)

What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?

I have a crush on Gru so he is my fave. DC's liked the minions best as they are like naughty children. They particularly liked the bit where the minions said bottom!

What did your DCs love best about the day?

They loved seeing the film before their friends and all the little extras (colouring sheets, balloon minion, mask etc) we go to the cinema a lot as a family but this made it all more of a special treat.

What was your overall experience of the screening?

Loved the minions and balloon ladies in the foyer, but found it very chaotic with all the queues and nobody seeming to be in charge or having any information. Felt it needed someone in a mumsnet T-shirt and a clipboard!! Also agree with previous posters that a push pop is not a snack. Popcorn would have been preferable, or just letting people know beforehand so we could have gone to our seats armed with suitable snacks. Had to send DH back to the foyer for popcorn for the kids. Not a big drama though and overall had a great time.

If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Despicable Me 2 to friends and family? Why?

Yes, already have! I absolutely loved the film and would happily sit through it again.

prettylucky Thu 20-Jun-13 18:00:38

Very funny and touching film - and I haven't see the original... yet!
3.5* from me (only cause I hadn't seen the 1st film)
5* from 10yo

What a fantastic Fathers' Day experience this was! We got into Manchester early (though not early enough for cheap parking it turned out - we know it's 08.30 for next time... wink) and went for a nice relaxing breakfast together at Chiquitos. By the time we'd finished the action had begun in earnest outside the screen: There were minions to have photos taken with (our own smallest minion wouldn't stay still long enough for no blurs, unfortunately), colouring in, balloon fun and probably other things besides - no chance for me to get any further than the balloons with my poppet turning into a screaming purple minion at the sight of them...

So, favourite bits: film (me, OH and 10yo DS), balloon minions, free sweet and ice-cream on the way out(2yo DS)

This was my 2yo's 1st cinema trip and he did really well once the film was on. He didn't want to wear the glasses the whole time though so didn't get the best of the experience.

I would wholeheartedly recommend this to anyone and can't wait to watch the original movie.

Thanks so much Mumsnet, we had a wonderful time together and what a lovely quiet ride home...

Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film

Gru and the girls are back, with more fun from the minions!

Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)

DD - 5
DS - 3.5 (points deducted for scary parts)
DH - 4
Me - 4

What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?

DD - the wedding scene at the end. She loved Lucy.
DS - the jelly guns and the minions being sucked up by the ice cream van. His fave was the minions.
DH - the boy band scene. Gru.
Me - the jelly guns. I love Gru too!

What did your DCs love best about the day?

DD - seeing the film before any of her friends.
DS - his balloon minion!

What was your overall experience of the screening?

We felt very privileged to be at a preview screening, and the entertainment was good. However, we felt it could have been better organised. When we got to there at 3:35, it wasn't obvious where to go, then we waited in the entrance till about 3:50 before being led upstairs. Having the minions there was brilliant and we were very lucky to be near the front of the queue to have photos taken. The balloons were a big hit but it took a long time to queue and we felt that they would have benefited from having some made up, ready to hand out.

After those two, we ended up joining the queue to go in as DH was worried that we wouldn't get seats together otherwise. DD grabbed a colouring sheet to take home and we didn't get a chance to go on the iPads. It was very hot and stuffy in there so the standing around felt even longer, I don't see why they couldn't have let us get into our seats earlier, knowing that the screening wouldn't be starting straight away.

As others have said, I was very disappointed with the sweet that was the snack. I don't usually allow the children to have those, especially as that shape is a particularly high risk for choking, but felt that I couldn't refuse. We did like the bottles of water though. The masks were good, but needed eye holes! We were pleased that there were booster seats available.

If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Despicable Me 2 to friends and family? Why?

Yes, I have! The only caveat being that the film is scarier than the first one, and might not be suitable for preschoolers, or sensitive children. DS (3yo) was very frightened in at least a couple of scenes, and I know that DD (6yo) would have been scared this time last year if she had watched it then, being a very sensitive child.

Wonderful,adventure filled, family-fun film.

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)
Five stars without hesitation.

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?

^Mum-bubbles at end (never enjoyed 3D before but this was amazing)
Dad- ‘bad’ minions
DC1- The Birthday party & Wedding
DC2- Minions (but not the purple ones!!!!)^

- What did your DCs love best about the day?
EVERYTHING...Literally, we all had a fantastic time

- What was your overall experience of the screening?
If all cinema trips were this much fun we’d go more often. Fabulous!

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Despicable Me 2 to friends and family? Why?
Have and will highly recommend.

EVERYTHING in this film was perfect. We loved it so much. DS (age 3) was a little afraid of the naughty minions but provided sensitive little ones are with a reassuring adult I think it’s fine. All turns out well in the end and there is so much love, joy and happiness in the film I can’t see how anyone could dislike it.

Can ask when mnhq will be doing the draw to win the goody bag? And will we be informed via email or pm? Only my email isn't working too well, or will the winner be named on this thread?

Nerfmother Sun 23-Jun-13 22:07:51

Just to add, ds (age 5) has worn his minion mask to school every day since the O2 and took his colouring sheet in as well. Ds1 has refrained from spilling the ending and ds2 is keen to see a film all about the origin of the minions.

5madthings Sun 23-Jun-13 22:11:17

Ds4 jasa worn his mask to school and my boys have managed not to spill the beans on the ending as well, I am most I pressed!

It really was a fab day out grin

Nerfmother Sun 23-Jun-13 22:28:12

How cute, iirc both ds 4s had a little bonding moment in the foyer grin

5madthings Sun 23-Jun-13 22:35:19

Yes they did smile very sweet smile

Nerfmother Sun 23-Jun-13 22:36:41

We'll have to road test something else so they can catch up! Shame they are too small for Facebook!

5madthings Sun 23-Jun-13 22:46:12

Def! It was really lovely actually how the kids all made friends with each other. As adults we could all learn a lot about how friendly and accepting they are. All the children were very welk behaved smile

Do i have you on fb? If not pm me, or if i do pm me to remind me of your rl name!

Nerfmother Sun 23-Jun-13 22:55:28

No, not on Facebook - I'm on it as me but not linked to mumsnet. Will pm you.

5madthings Sun 23-Jun-13 23:12:51

LackaDAISYcal Sun 23-Jun-13 23:30:31

Oooh, notmeactualname; we all thought your DS was gorgeous dressed as a minion grin

I wish I had chatted to more people now. Everyone, me especially, seemed very reserved, though there were lots of knowing smiles exchanged grin

Fabulous family fun. A great film suitable for all the family and very, very funny!

- Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)
5 out of 5 from us all

- What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?
They loved the daughter with the pink hat. "Eeeew..." has now been added to favourite phrases for them to use! My favourite character was Lucy.

- What did your DCs love best about the day?
The life size characters were, without doubt the most terrifying part of the day for my 3 year old! The activities in the foyer beforehand and sweeties on teh seats definitely made for an excitable trip for them both. They both very much the film, the smallest DC wanted to watch it again yesterday!

- What was your overall experience of the screening?
Very positive. We all very much enjoyed the film and the other experiences really added to our visit.

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Despicable Me 2 to friends and family? Why?
Yes. It is engaging for all members of the family.
