We've teamed up with Universal Pictures UK to offer Mumsnetters and their families' a chance to attend an exclusive pre-release screening of the much anticipated movie, Despicable Me 2!

"Now that the ever-entrepreneurial Gru has left behind a life of super crime to raise Margo, Edith and Agnes, Gru, Dr. Nefario and the Minions have some free time on their hands. But just as he starts to adjust to his role as a suburban family man, an ultra-secret organization dedicated to fighting evil around the globe comes knocking. Now, it's up to Gru and his new partner, Lucy Wilde (Kristen Wiig), to discover who is responsible for a spectacular crime and bring him to justice. After all, it takes the world's greatest ex-villain to catch the one vying to take his place?"

Visit the Despicable Me 2 pages on Mumsnet to see the trailer (in cinemas 28th June):

There are two screenings taking place on Sunday 16th June at the following locations and times:

London O2 arena - 3.30pm - 6.30pm

Manchester Printworks - 10am - 1pm

The screening will start off with 'fun in the foyer' including costume characters, games and more. You'll then be showed to your seats, provided with a bottle of water and a snack each and left to sit back and enjoy the film!

We'd then like you to come back to a thread at Mumsnet and tell us what you and your DCs thought of the film. We'd also love it if you could take a few pictures of your DCs enjoying their day out and upload them to the feedback thread. Pictures may be used on the Despicable Me 2 pages on MN, so please only upload pictures if you're happy for us to do this.

So, if you'd like to see Despicable Me 2 before anyone else, please sign up here.

Please note, the film is rated U and therefore suitable for any age, however due to the length of the film time (98mins) it's not advisable for children under 2 years to attend.

If you're selected to attend you will be emailed by 10th June with details of how to get your tickets. You will need to add your details - along with a special code - on a link we will send you. You'll then need to print your tickets at home and bring them with you to the screening to gain entry.

Please note: max 4 tickets per Mumsnetter.

Everyone who is selected to attend and adds a review onto the feedback thread will be in with a chance of winning a Despicable Me 2 goody bag!

Thanks and good luck,

Sounds lots of fun for Father's day but the times are the other way round on the form. It says London 10-1 and Manchester 3-6. Please could you confirm which times are correct please? No point applying if I can't get to the O2 on time. Thanks.

KatieBMumsnet (MNHQ) Mon 03-Jun-13 10:29:41

Oops blush thanks for spotting Theimpossiblegirl!

The correct times are:
London O2 arena - 3.30pm - 6.30pm

Manchester Printworks - 10am - 1pm

LackaDAISYcal Mon 03-Jun-13 10:52:12

Oooh, lovely. But one parent will have to miss out here, as we are five! Still I could take them and give DH a Father's Day day off. He would much rather be fishing anyway grin

oohaveabanana Mon 03-Jun-13 10:54:17

OMG, soooo exciting (is it bad that I already have the release date highlighted on my calender?!)

Theimpossiblegirl Mon 03-Jun-13 11:01:13

Thanks for clarifying. I have signed myself and my minions up.

fuzzpig Mon 03-Jun-13 11:23:56

me me me! <leaps up and down excitedly>

Have signed up - I put 2 adults and 2 DCs although DH is working (on fathers day angry) so I'm not actually entirely sure who the 4th person - if there is one - will be... hope that's ok if I get picked.

OddBoots Mon 03-Jun-13 11:42:14

I can't wait to see this, either through this or at the cinema. smile Thank you for the chance of tickets, MN.

Nehru Mon 03-Jun-13 11:43:08

oh great if you live in er... London or manchester then

IwishIwasmoreorganised Mon 03-Jun-13 12:04:28

I was hoping this might be in Cardiff or Bristol.

Next time maybe!

jojane Mon 03-Jun-13 12:20:56

i was hoping cardiff or bristol too!!!

MadeOfStarDust Mon 03-Jun-13 12:40:17

Bristol would have been good for us too..

Tortoise Mon 03-Jun-13 12:58:42

Can't wait to watch this but can't get to either venue. Bristol would have been good for me too! sad

poorbuthappy Mon 03-Jun-13 13:02:44

OK, so how do I decide which child to leave at home?
Or maybe daddy? That would be nice on fathers day!

Come off it. 3/4 kids are not unusual these days.

nenevomito Mon 03-Jun-13 13:06:17

I've screwed up my form and only put down for one adult and not two. Any chance I could change it, pretty please smile

AnnMumsnet (MNHQ) Mon 03-Jun-13 13:29:47

Hello - thanks to everyone who has applied so far.
Apologies if its not near enough to you...we do try smile

<whispers...we did recently have a footie event in Bristol>

KatieBMumsnet (MNHQ) Mon 03-Jun-13 13:33:08

babyheave - I've changed this for you

nenevomito Mon 03-Jun-13 13:40:20

Thank you smile

Perhaps if this nice free offer isn't suitable people could buy tickets when the film comes out instead? Like I plan on doing because the children are with their father that weekend.

LegoAcupuncture Mon 03-Jun-13 14:01:29

Gutted! We loved the first film.

Have fun whoever is going.

MarcelineTheVampireQueen Mon 03-Jun-13 14:05:48

I see us Irish people are catered for again, how lovely.....hmm

Nehru Mon 03-Jun-13 14:39:13

How about its NOT in london at all one time?

bluebump Mon 03-Jun-13 16:01:42

Oh I wish it had been closer! We are so looking forward to this film.

Blatherskite Mon 03-Jun-13 16:16:03

Done. I thought I was going to be busy but I finish work at 12.30 and could be there easy!

DD has never been to the cinema before (despite watching lots of movies at home) what a way that would be to get your first taste of the cinema!

LadyStark Mon 03-Jun-13 16:27:16

In the 2009 Mumsnet census (forgive me there may be a more recent one, I couldn't see it) users based in London and the South East accounted for 41%.

So it does kinda make sense to have one of the screenings in London even if it is frustrating for those of you who can't get to London easily.

ArtemisKelda Mon 03-Jun-13 16:31:28

Entered, keeping my fingers crossed for Manchester, it would make DS's week!

Nehru Mon 03-Jun-13 16:49:50

I think they should have them all in Norwich. ;)

Londoners can get there as easily as central London

lostproperty Mon 03-Jun-13 17:02:44

Me please !! I can't wait to see it with my children !!! Thank you

Kneedeepindaisies Mon 03-Jun-13 17:08:58

I'm a couple of hours from London but we would all love the chance to go to this event.

Good luck everyone. smile

HomageToCannelloni Mon 03-Jun-13 17:15:02

I really don't get the people who are moaning about the locations. These are free screenings, presumably arranged wherever is most suitable for the companies offering the chance to attend...that MN have worked to sort out and advertise so that someoe might be lucky enough to take advantage of it. Of you can't get there then that's sad, but really what is our level of entitlement here?

HomageToCannelloni Mon 03-Jun-13 17:15:52

Oh, and I live in the Wilds of Yorkshire, so am not just saying that because I live next to the 02 Arena! smile

Theimpossiblegirl Mon 03-Jun-13 17:33:24

I love a nice Mumsnet perk as much as the next person but really don't get the whole sour grapes thing. If it's not my turn then so be it, I'm not going to moan or begrudge whoever is lucky enough this time.

Mumsnet means a lot more to me than the odd freebie. I was here before they started and would still be here if they stopped. Not sure everyone can say that judging by some of the comments.

edam Mon 03-Jun-13 17:47:02

ooh, have entered - Despicable Me is one of ds's and my niece's favourite films.

Don't see what the moaning is about, there's one in Manchester and one in London - and the production company decides where to hold previews, not MN.

MissMintyMoo Mon 03-Jun-13 20:12:24

MonsterBookOfTyRexs Mon 03-Jun-13 21:50:31

Signed up for me and the dc, dh is working Father's day so this would take there mind off him not being there.

McBalls Mon 03-Jun-13 22:04:54

Ooh we'd love this... Fingers crossed but either way we're very excited about DM2!

Yas1 Mon 03-Jun-13 23:08:51

Fingers crossed grin

ccosmos37 Tue 04-Jun-13 08:16:59

great i live in Londonm, We loved the first film.

ExasperatedSigh Tue 04-Jun-13 09:32:11

Have entered. My DS would probably combust with excitement if given the chance to go to this grin I've only asked for two tickets though as DD is a massive handful not quite 2 yet.

MustTidyUpMustTidyUp Tue 04-Jun-13 10:20:41

Entered! Waiting in anticipation :-)

mrslurkalot Tue 04-Jun-13 16:04:57

Have signed up!! My kids would love this!! we have despicable me on DVD and have been watching the trailer for the new one on you tube non stop for weeks. The DC keep asking when its out, but at the moment 4 tickets for us all to go to the cinema together is out of reach financially
sad Fingers crossed!!!

ShadeofViolet Tue 04-Jun-13 16:18:41

We are a train ride away from Manchester but I dont care. I have signed us up. DS1 and DD would love this.

LizzieVereker Tue 04-Jun-13 17:27:15

Fingers crossed smile

Thanks for the opportunity, MN Towers!

Bexicles Wed 05-Jun-13 11:59:29

Oh no, I have made a mistake on the entry form, I have just entered my DS details and not mine. Please could someone alter this for me? Thanks

RhondaJean Wed 05-Jun-13 12:35:46

Just a general grumble that there's nothin in Scotland - again!

motherofmuddles Wed 05-Jun-13 15:13:02

Oh so excited have entered - We saw the trailer for this a couple of weeks ago and the DC's started the pitch there and then to go. We did love the first one
Plus there was a giant Minion in the foyer of our Cineworld kids just had to have their photos taken with. Sad but true

faye007 Wed 05-Jun-13 15:20:34

how do I get my tickets? thought I was pc savvy but clearly not lol

Kirstypatience Wed 05-Jun-13 16:19:16

Have entered for Manchester! Fingers crossed. My eldest loves the first film so much, I am pretty sure he watches it every day! Would make him so so happy if he got the tickets!

Scottishtanguera Wed 05-Jun-13 16:49:54

motherofmuddles - that's not sad, I would have done the same!

Best animated film ever, I'm so happy they made a 2nd one, didn't think they were going to.

AnnMumsnet (MNHQ) Wed 05-Jun-13 19:38:45

faye007 - add your details to the link above and we'll email selected MNers with a link where you get the tickets. Tis a popular one this though so sadly not everyone will be selected. We will however attempt to run a reserve list.

Sayonee Thu 06-Jun-13 11:41:28

dances in the style of Vector oh yeah, oh yeah grin
Fingers crossed mn-ers

JoyceDivision Thu 06-Jun-13 14:11:27

Its not near us either, butyou know what, there's this thing where you can goto pics and pay to buy tickets and go see the film... or shall we all not go because mumsnet hasn't secured every venue across the globe (lets not exclude overseas mumsnetters too)

LadyIsabellaWrotham Thu 06-Jun-13 16:28:57

Lets face it, by August it'll be on a Saturday morning Kids' Club showing at your local cinema for less than the cost of a bus ticket.

Still keeping my fingers crossed that we get to this showing mind you.

KatieBMumsnet (MNHQ) Thu 06-Jun-13 16:49:12

Bexicles - PM me with what you'd like to change and I'll update for you

jackandbethsmum Thu 06-Jun-13 17:01:47

We would love 2 adult and 2 children's tickets for London please!

KatieBMumsnet (MNHQ) Thu 06-Jun-13 17:19:58

jackandbethsmum, please add your details using the link in the OP and we'll email selected MNers with the link to download the tickets soon.

MissMintyMoo Thu 06-Jun-13 19:18:31

I hope we get selected, I think I'm more excited to see this film than the kids are blush and they are pretty darn excited!

janx Fri 07-Jun-13 11:19:03

SeagullsAreLikeThat Fri 07-Jun-13 18:41:54

Just heard we're in and I am so excited! Have just told DH who didn't know I'd applied and he is over the moon, we have been waiting for this film to come out for so long!

Not telling the DS yet, we'll never get them to sleep if we tell them now.

Thank you so much, MN, what a lovely treat.

jinglejanglebangles Fri 07-Jun-13 18:48:47

ShadeofViolet Fri 07-Jun-13 19:52:05

I have emailed MNHQ as I have realised I cant use my tickets (clashes with DS1's drama group performance) so hopefully somebodies No might become a yes smile

ExasperatedSigh Fri 07-Jun-13 19:52:37

Omg omg omg! Thank you soooooo much MNHQ, my DS is going to be over the moon! grin

ImaHexGirl Fri 07-Jun-13 20:40:23

MonsterBookOfTyRexs Fri 07-Jun-13 21:32:27

Jes I came on to ask that, MNHQ is it 3D or 2D?
Not that it matters, just help my boasting if 3D grin

fuzzpig Fri 07-Jun-13 22:30:51

I will be in attendance at the O2.

Katz Fri 07-Jun-13 22:54:00

yay! going to manchester

fuzzpig Sat 08-Jun-13 08:56:46

Couple of questions for MNHQ if I may -

1. I know the tickets aren't transferable but hypothetically is it ok if I use my 4th ticket for a friend to come with me (who can help with the DCs, I am disabled and struggle on my own) as DH is working (sad)?

2. Is this just an MN event or is it a general event of which a small percentage are MNers? (just being nosy really)

NaturalBlondeYeahRight Sat 08-Jun-13 13:07:08

We got tickets too! How exciting, I never win anything
<must not forget to reply and confirm>

Scarf at the ready! grin

Ruprekt Sat 08-Jun-13 15:52:00

Is it a 3D film as Dh and ds cannot do 3D! confused

TheOldestCat Sat 08-Jun-13 16:08:26

Very excited to win tickets! Thank you MNHQ!

GoldenGreen Sat 08-Jun-13 16:42:11

Yay! Thank you so much! Manchester for us smile

fuzzpig Sat 08-Jun-13 18:22:50

Forget my first question. My mum has kindly to look after 3yo tornado child DS so I can bring my twin DSDs as well as DD! We are all very excited!

I would also like to know about the 3D though - we have 3D specs already so can bring those if it means we don't have to buy any on the day grin

Nerfmother Sat 08-Jun-13 21:45:17

Really looking forward to meeting some of you!

fuzzpig Sat 08-Jun-13 21:46:19

Me too! grin

Ruprekt Sat 08-Jun-13 22:23:30

We can't go.

Will let Mumsnet know officially tomorrow.

HokeyCokeyPigInAPokey Sat 08-Jun-13 22:25:28

We're going too!

ArtemisKelda Sat 08-Jun-13 23:26:20

Yayyy, thank you Mumsnet. I have a very excited little boy.

Nerfmother Sun 09-Jun-13 11:02:25

jes73 Sun 09-Jun-13 15:20:05

They have minion costumes?!

We are going to the O2 as well.

ExasperatedSigh Sun 09-Jun-13 22:11:54

Jes I'm going to bring my almost-2yo. She'll enjoy the foyer stuff and when if she gets wriggly during the film I'll just take her out for a wander till DS and DH come out.

Risha Mon 10-Jun-13 09:49:09

not lucky.. DD is very very upset sad I shouldn't have told her earlier.. sad and she keeps saying my little DD that " We couldn't go" for atleast 1000 times now..

I'm in too - at the Printworks

Sooooo excited grin Not told DD yet. I originally applied for 4 tickets but have decided against taking DS (2) so hopefully someone will be able to have our extra ticket.

Wooo Hooooo

And thank you Mumsnet flowers

nenevomito Mon 10-Jun-13 13:03:15

That was a bit daft Risha. I'm sure they'll cheer up if you take them when its released though.

BOF Mon 10-Jun-13 13:46:31

Yes- you'd probably know it wasn't a good idea if you spent some time on boards other than product freebies and sponsored posts smile. Still, as Babyheave says, it's not the end of the world having to pay for your own cinema tickets.

KatieBMumsnet (MNHQ) Mon 10-Jun-13 13:51:48

Hi all, just to let you know the film will be in 3D.

fuzzpig you can bring your friend and the event is just for Mumsnetters smile

Kirstypatience Mon 10-Jun-13 14:27:03

Yey thank you mumsnet! Printworks here we come! My 4 year old is so excited. He is obsessed with despicable me! I am also fetching my 2 year old and hoping he behaves during the film! See you all there! x

HokeyCokeyPigInAPokey Mon 10-Jun-13 15:59:16

3D as well?!

It just gets better!!

5madthings Mon 10-Jun-13 16:29:12

Omg omg I got tickets, I shall be bringing three mad boys to the o2 in London!!! I never win anything, soo excited!!

MonsterBookOfTyRexs Mon 10-Jun-13 16:36:29

I also have a 2 year old coming, she normally sits better than the 5 year old till the last 20mins or so.
I am hoping giving her milk and her blankie will help grin
Ooh 3D best get ds and dd some glasses.

5madthings Mon 10-Jun-13 16:39:44

I shall be bringing ds2, ds3 and ds4 they are 10, 8 and 5 and are beyond excited! I had to choose who out of my five to bring ds1 is 13 and wasn't fussed, dd is only two and so won't mind not coming. It will actually be really great to just have my middle three and be doing something awesome just with them!!!

5madthings Mon 10-Jun-13 18:07:15

I have booked our train tickets, I think I may be more excited than the children...

Hellohippo Mon 10-Jun-13 19:25:10

Excited but scared I will get home to see a thead about me!

SeagullsAreLikeThat Mon 10-Jun-13 20:20:05

Silly question here: do we need to bring our own glasses?? Not done a film in 3D since Jaws back in 1980-somethingsmile

MustTidyUpMustTidyUp Mon 10-Jun-13 20:22:51

Ooooo seagull I thought I was the only person to have never seen a 3D film! Even more excited!
(Ill be the giddy one with 3 crazy boys)

5madthings Mon 10-Jun-13 20:27:12

musttidyup I too will be giddy with three crazy boys!

And yes do we need to take glasses? Whenever go to 3d as its too expensive so we don't have any, surely they will have them for us to borrow?

I have been grinning like a loony since I saw my email today, dp is maybe a little rolley eyed at my enthusiasm he is just jealous that he doesn't get to come with us

marryinhaste Mon 10-Jun-13 20:37:42

I will be at the O2 - on my own with my 5 year old and 2 year old - slightly questioning my sanity now!

I think I saw an advert that said the first film is on TV this Saturday night - good timing for watching before the sequel!

SeagullsAreLikeThat Mon 10-Jun-13 20:50:36

5madthings, that was me too, couldn't stop grinning every time I thought about it! Think it's partly because it's so rare for me to get through to things like this so it makes it even more special.

5madthings Mon 10-Jun-13 20:59:28

Yep I never win anything ever so massively chuffed and I hadn't told the boys that I had entered so they were really surprised and are thrilled, they can't wait to go smile

i may have been so excited that I phoned up my parents to tell them blush grin

edam Mon 10-Jun-13 21:17:10

I'm sure they will have 3d glasses available for everyone on the day.

edam Mon 10-Jun-13 21:18:55

Katie, the whole screening will be Mumsnet-only? Blimey, a whole cinema full of MNers... do the guys at Universal realise quite what they are letting themselves in for? grin

oohaveabanana Mon 10-Jun-13 21:42:25

Yup, would be good to know if you'd like us to bring along 3D glasses, or if you'll have a mahoussive stash of freebies <hopeful>

fuzzpig Mon 10-Jun-13 21:45:19

Wow all mumsnetters eh? Exciting, I've never been to a meet up grin

Thanks for reply Katie I have got a babysitter for my little one which means I can bring both DSDs (there's no way I could've chosen only one of them!) as well as my DD. All of us are hopping with excitement and we will be bringing our cuddly minions (or in the case of DD, her unicorn) to watch the movie with us!

fuzzpig Mon 10-Jun-13 21:52:10

Oh and can I just say... please please please don't think me rude if I'm not very talkative! I am really looking forward to meeting some lovely MNers but I am also really shy and crap with social situations so I'm very nervous too! So if you notice a wallflower it is probably me grin

fuzzpig Mon 10-Jun-13 21:53:32

presumably we can buy extra snacks at the foyer if those provided aren't enough for us greedy people - or should we sneak in some greggs sausage rolls pom bears?

5madthings Mon 10-Jun-13 21:56:21

We get snacks and a drink each apparently, ds2 would like to know what they are...

I shall be taking extras as my boys are gannets!

marryinhaste Mon 10-Jun-13 22:02:41

fuzzpig - I will be a wallflower, too, probably. I get so worked up about making sure the children behave that I forget how to have a conversation. Will try and be sociable on Sunday - could be interesting amongst the nest of vipers!

Nerfmother Mon 10-Jun-13 22:07:09

5madthings- I'm really looking forward to meeting your boys! i think you may have appeared on a omg how do u manage boys thread I may have started! Mine are 10, 7 and 5!

fuzzpig Mon 10-Jun-13 22:10:22

It's only girls going in our group! DH is so jealous. He will take DS to a 2D screening once it's on general release though.

Wolfcub Mon 10-Jun-13 22:15:20

we still haven't told ds that we're going, we decided to keep it a secret but are both ridiculously excited. we also haven't seen a 3d film before as I've always been worried that they will give me headaches.

5madthings Mon 10-Jun-13 22:25:12

I can't wait, Nerf you say that now you may want to run away fast once you meet them... Man this are fine but I suspect they are going to be hyper and mega excited, i pity anyone who happens to be on the train from Norwich to London us! grin. I am bringing the middle three who are 10, 8 and 5 (tho for the train journey ds4 is only 4...) shock

Nerfmother Tue 11-Jun-13 07:51:27

Haha, I give you my three boys; lively would be an appropriate phrase.

Katz Tue 11-Jun-13 08:19:25

All mumsnetters! Maybe I should warn DH! my two are excited at seeing the film a week before anyone else!

fuzzpig Tue 11-Jun-13 08:23:54

I just remembered DH bought me one of those iron on transfers a while ago, of a minion! I should actually get round to putting it on something to wear...

5madthings Tue 11-Jun-13 09:41:50

To say ds4 is excited would be an understatement, every person we passed on the way to school got told that he is going to see a special showing of despicable me 2 on Sunday and that he will meet a minion... It says there are characters to meet? There WILL be someone in a minion costume?!! Or ds4 may be a tad heartbroken. It is his show and tell news at school today and he has informed them that next week he will bring photos of him and minion....

jes73 Tue 11-Jun-13 10:30:59

Hmmm...Still not sure of bringing the two year old DD. If she gets scared she cries really loud and I mean really loud and I would not want to disturb everyone else.

jes73 Tue 11-Jun-13 10:31:58

Is there a group on twitter so we know who all are going? grin

5madthings Tue 11-Jun-13 10:36:22

I am leaving my two years told, but I and to choose two to leave anyway and it made sense to leave her as she worn mind missing out and ds1(13) as he isnt that bothered.

I am not on twitter, but I am on Feb, if anyone wants to add me just send me a pm and I will send you my name so you can find me smile

fuzzywuzzy Tue 11-Jun-13 10:39:02

We're going too, my girls are soo excited, I left the tickets at work yesterday and my eldest kept reminding me to bring them with me this morning!

AnnMumsnet (MNHQ) Tue 11-Jun-13 10:53:00

I am going to ensure you lot behave yourselves as a representative of MNHQ. Can't wait...grin

SeagullsAreLikeThat Tue 11-Jun-13 12:53:30

When you say "tickets" can I just check you mean the sheet of paper that says "4 tickets" or whatever? Have I done this wrong? <paranoid>.

Also, are there only 3 of us going to Manchester or is it just that no one else is on this threadsmile? Everyone here seems to be London-bound!

fuzzpig Tue 11-Jun-13 12:59:41

That's all I've got, Seagulls, I printed off 2 copies though in case I lose one!

Need to find the camera as DD would love a photo of her with a minion to take to show and tell next week!

I haven't seen a 3D film apart from those at theme parks. Me and DSD2 are going to look sooo cool with our 3D glasses over our regular specs grin

fuzzywuzzy Tue 11-Jun-13 13:00:05

Seagulls yes I meant the sheet of paper with the number of people attending on it.

I'm going to the London preview.

5madthings Tue 11-Jun-13 13:04:13

Yes its just a printed sheet that says time, place how many people, I got an email confirmation as well that says something about car parking? But we are coming by train. We will be getting to London by 11:30ish so gave area hours to kill beforehand, I shall have a Google and see what is nearby to do.., happy to meet up beforehand if others want to smile

nenevomito Tue 11-Jun-13 13:19:56

Who else is going to the Printworks?

ArtemisKelda Tue 11-Jun-13 14:44:12

babyheave I'm going to the Printworks too.

SeagullsAreLikeThat Tue 11-Jun-13 16:08:55

Ah, that makes a few more for Manchester then, at least!
Thanks for the reassurance re tickets. Can you imagine getting there having wound the DCs up into a frenzy of excitement only to find you hadn't got the right documentationgrin?

OldBagWantsNewBag Tue 11-Jun-13 16:14:38

Message withdrawn at poster's request.

TattyCatty Tue 11-Jun-13 16:21:40

Bit late to the party, as we only managed to get tickets by getting to the top of the reserve list, but woo hoo! We'll be at the O2 - haven't told DD yet as still working out which of her friends will be free to come with us. So exciting!

edam Tue 11-Jun-13 16:43:16

Ann, I'm sure you will have no problem at all wrestling a herd of cats keeping order... MNers are not renowned for being opinionated and individual and stubborn and there are never heated threads in AIBU about etiquette in public places at all, oh no sirree...

SeagullsAreLikeThat Tue 11-Jun-13 17:16:29

So does this mean we will be left unsupervised in Manchester??? <starts plotting race to back row, school-bus style>

EstoyAqui Tue 11-Jun-13 17:25:55

We are coming. Somehow our original email got lost and I found out today that we are definitely coming. <squeeeee>. DD is so excited.

I cannot wait to get a picture of DS with a minion. He loves them. grin

EstoyAqui Tue 11-Jun-13 17:30:44

Also, for those who have time to kill beforehand, the cable car ride over the Thames is just next door to the O2 and gives a really good view down the river.

I think we shall hang out on the South bank though and get the Jubilee line up early so we can treat DH for Father's Day dinner.

5madthings Tue 11-Jun-13 17:32:24

We have time to kill, the cable car ride sounds good, is it expensive?

AnnMumsnet (MNHQ) Tue 11-Jun-13 17:34:36

smile Edam...actually will need to think about whether to go incognito or brazen it out with a big badge/whip.

And yes unsupervised ooooppp relying on best behaviour from all <stern look over specs> blush

EstoyAqui Tue 11-Jun-13 17:40:16

We used our Oysters so I think it was a couple of quid each for DH and I. Our DCs are 5 and under so no charge for them.

They have a lifestyle museum to the north of the river showing future technology within the home if you are interested. We just had an ice-cream then came back the other way!

EstoyAqui Tue 11-Jun-13 17:41:41
SeagullsAreLikeThat Tue 11-Jun-13 18:10:46

Ooh, Ann, we'll be ever so good, promise... <folds hands in front and swings innocently>

5madthings Tue 11-Jun-13 18:21:21

Thanks estoy I think the boys will like that, I shall have a travel card so can get a discounted fare, will have to see if its worth getting the boys a travel card, they are free on the tube, ds4 is just five but for the purposes of the train and the cable car he is still four... grin

Hurray - through to the top of the reserve lost and we're off to the O2.

NaturalBlondeYeahRight Tue 11-Jun-13 20:21:35

For those 3d virgins, the newer films aren't like those 'proper' 80's 3d films <remembers the roller coaster film that made me feel sick at Thorpe Park>
It's pretty gentle, more of a richer film rather than things reaching out of the screen.

nenevomito Tue 11-Jun-13 20:31:36

And yes unsupervised ooooppp relying on best behaviour from all

Yes of course. Honest. Best behaviour.

If we don't will you send us messages saying "you've let your families down, you've let Mumsnet down, but most of all, you've let yourself down"?

That's the updated version of what I got after one ill-fated school trip to the cinema.

NaturalBlondeYeahRight Tue 11-Jun-13 20:42:53

Babyheave, you've got tickets too!! But to wrong different one. Have a good time.

SeagullsAreLikeThat Tue 11-Jun-13 21:03:08

Babyheave, are you and I going to be the prefects then?

nenevomito Tue 11-Jun-13 21:07:15

Oh no NaturalBlonde! Brilliant that you have tickets, but boo-hiss at the other end of the country.

We could be prefects, Seagulls, but I'd probably lead people astray. grin

cjbk1 Tue 11-Jun-13 21:22:42

We're going to the O2 I have to sign in here?

LackaDAISYcal Tue 11-Jun-13 23:45:46

Oooh, just had an email saying I'm top of the reserve list for Manchester! It then went on to give the link for tickets though, so I'm a bit confused Are we in or not?

5madthings Tue 11-Jun-13 23:48:22

If you have the link then you are in i would thibk? as in you got to the top and there are spaces available smile

LackaDAISYcal Wed 12-Jun-13 00:53:13

Woohoo. DC will be soo excited grin

And DH as it means he will get some well deserved P&Q on Father's Day!

joportis Wed 12-Jun-13 07:09:06

No tickets here either for O2, sad how do you get on the reserve list.

If you applied last week then you will automatically be on the reserve list joportis, and if anyone else declines then you might get a place. You don't have to do anything except cross your fingers and check your email.

joportis Wed 12-Jun-13 07:53:02

Ok thanks, will keep my fingers crossed.

jes73 Wed 12-Jun-13 10:52:36

Ann, it will be nice to meet you after all the email communications. smile

AnnMumsnet (MNHQ) Wed 12-Jun-13 11:56:31

jes73 - indeed...always a pleasure to meet MNers.....I will have to print off a list with rl and mn names on (for my eyes only) so I can see who folks really are! grin

ImaHexGirl Wed 12-Jun-13 13:58:54

Squeeeee! Thank you lovely MN, I got an email earlier saying we've now got tickets for the O2! I am so excited and DS will be over the moon! Thank you thank you thank you!! grin

I'm looking forward to the pre-film fun as much as the film itself <runs round in circles excitedly>

ExasperatedSigh Wed 12-Jun-13 13:59:18

Glad to see others are bringing their 2yos. I look forward to meeting you all in the foyer about two thirds of the way through grin

5madthings Wed 12-Jun-13 14:04:07

How many families are going roughly, will it be really busy?

Sayonee Wed 12-Jun-13 17:25:54

For others (myself included) who didn't receive a winning email, ITV are showing Despicable me (1) on tv this Saturday at 6.40pm. Decided I'm going to get some treats in, cosy up on the sofa with the boys and have a home cinema popcorn movie night grin
They'll be just as happy and two year old can wonder unsupervised so no babysitter required!!!

JaquelineHyde Wed 12-Jun-13 19:32:44

Just got an email saying we have made it to the top of the reserve list and have been allocated tickets grin grin grin

So I excited, I will be going to the London screening (got to work out how to get there now) with DD1 (8) DS1 (7) and DD2 (who will be 6 next weekend)

DH shall be staying at home with DS2 (6weeks) and playing on the Playstation. I'm not sure who will be most excited him or the dcs? smile

MonsterBookOfTyRexs Wed 12-Jun-13 21:47:13

Ann MNHQ I have swapped my dd with dn for Sunday as he is 7 and dd is 2. Is that ok? Do I need to do anything due to the change in ages?

5madthings Wed 12-Jun-13 21:50:37

The ticket doesnt say anything about ages just the numbet of people it lets in so it shouldnt be a problem? Not that i am speaking for mnhq... But thats how it would seem to me.

MonsterBookOfTyRexs Wed 12-Jun-13 22:11:27

5madthings I thought that too but was scared about getting there and not being allowed in grin Thanks for putting my mind at rest.
We are making a day of it, going to see Big Ben, Chelsea fc and a museum if the queue is reasonable. We will need to sit down for an hour and half grin

nenevomito Wed 12-Jun-13 23:38:35

Well, it would be rude not to at least have some lunch and a small glass of something, I'm sure. grin

AnnMumsnet (MNHQ) Thu 13-Jun-13 08:26:46

MonsterBookOfTyRexs - fine - as 5madthings said its about the number of bums on seats not who they are.

Am getting excited now....grin

Kneedeepindaisies Thu 13-Jun-13 09:14:55

We're going to London too. <waves at everyone>

I was trying to find a cheap hotel for the Saturday night but that's not happened so will be coming up on Sunday morning.

Off to google things to do.

Can we buy extra snacks at the screening?

HokeyCokeyPigInAPokey Thu 13-Jun-13 10:24:16

I would imagine you can buy snacks as normal.

Am impressed with the free parking at the O2 as well!

JaquelineHyde Thu 13-Jun-13 13:24:54

I just clicked on the link to print my 4 tickets off and it is saying 'sorry, no tickets left' shock shock sad

I only got told we had tickets yesterday and emailed Katie to say we were going and would print the tickets off today. She replied and said that was fine.

Now I'm panicking that something has happened and we have lost our tickets sad confused

I have just emailed Katie to ask her what is happening but thought I would post here as well just in case she doesn't see my email.

Please someone tell me it is all OK...

AnnMumsnet (MNHQ) Thu 13-Jun-13 13:28:23

i'll make sure she gets back to you ASAP jaquelinehyde

5madthings Thu 13-Jun-13 14:22:46

Ooh I think it might have worked..its showing in my 'sent' box anyway...

MissMintyMoo Thu 13-Jun-13 19:11:15

If there are any late returns we would still love to come along to the London screening.

MonsterBookOfTyRexs Thu 13-Jun-13 21:35:28

Thanks Ann smile I am really excited now too :D

Nerfmother Thu 13-Jun-13 22:05:40

Boys keep asking how many bedtimes ! apparently no need to bring 3d glasses so that's good. Can't wait!

jes73 Fri 14-Jun-13 12:17:32

So excited....See you on Sunday everyone!!

jes73 Fri 14-Jun-13 13:20:27 get us in the mood Despicable Me on ITV tomorrow at 6.40pm...What fun!! Don't think we the kids will get any sleep tomorrow night.

fuzzpig Fri 14-Jun-13 14:28:57

I have no doubt we will be watching Despicable Me on DVD on Sunday morning probably twice grin

ExasperatedSigh Fri 14-Jun-13 14:45:57

We haven't told DS anything yet grin Thinking of keeping it a surprise until we get there. I did say there was a new film out soon and he started yelling 'Let's go now! NOW NOW NOW!' so I think it's fair to say he will enjoy himself.

clux73 Fri 14-Jun-13 18:24:00

Help Mumsnet!!!!!

Just trying to print our tickets and it's saying "no tickets left". I'm panicking now!!!

fuzzpig Fri 14-Jun-13 19:47:26

Oh no, did you follow the link on the email? sad

I think I may have outed myself to a (lovely!) colleague today... I mentioned that it was an online competition and she sort of looked at me funny... <looks round suspiciously> grin

HokeyCokeyPigInAPokey Fri 14-Jun-13 19:52:48

Posted on other thread to but want to check.

I have printed out the page that says admit 4 and has the ticket id on.

Is that all I need or was there something else?

fuzzpig Fri 14-Jun-13 19:57:41

Other thread? <nosy>

(I think the printout is all we need BTW - check upthread as I'm sure MNHQ said so) smile

HokeyCokeyPigInAPokey Fri 14-Jun-13 19:59:47

Yes didn't you get the email for the other pre excitement/feedback thread?

Sorry can't link am on phone.

fuzzpig Fri 14-Jun-13 20:04:38

ah thanks hokey I hadn't checked this afternoon! will head over there now to join the hopping up and down excitedly grin

fuzzpig Fri 14-Jun-13 20:07:15

Question for MNHQ - or anyone who's been to the O2 before - are there likely to be places to sit in the foyer? I get dizzy a lot so probably won't be able to stand for the whole hour.

fuzzywuzzy Fri 14-Jun-13 20:33:07

The O2 has loads of shops and coffee places etc as you walk along.

I don't think there are places to sit in the Cineworld Foyer, but downstairs there are coffee shops nearby.

I think if I'm remebering correctly.

fuzzpig Fri 14-Jun-13 22:02:21

I may just have to sit on the floor grin <hopes there isn't a thread "AIBU to think it is rude to sit on the cinema floor" come Monday>

edam Sat 15-Jun-13 10:25:38

Blimey, is it really a stand up cinema? We are expected to stand up for the whole film? shock

edam Sat 15-Jun-13 10:28:09

Just checked the cineworld site and for other films at this venue it mentions seating...

edam Sat 15-Jun-13 10:30:03

Oh, I see, fuzzpig is talking about the foyer... fuzzpig, dunno about Cineworld but I've been to previews at different cinemas and some of them do have seating in the foyer. If there are seats in the foyer and I'm in one, I would be happy to give it up for you if you need it!

edam Sat 15-Jun-13 10:31:38

ps you don't have to be there for a whole hour beforehand, you can always turn up 30 mins before. 'Fun in the foyer' usually means face-painting, some foam toy swords or whatever, some backdrops you can have your photo taken in front of...

fuzzpig Sat 15-Jun-13 10:59:44

Thanks edam grin We will get there at 3.30 I think as I don't want me the DCs to miss anything. Hopefully the journey won't be too hard so I'm sure it won't be too taxing. And at least I'm guaranteed over 90 mins of sitting during the movie itself grin

I don't think there's such thing as a stand up cinema - that'd be my worst nightmare these days! For this reason I haven't applied for cheap tickets to the Globe even though I'd love to go.

Anyone else travelling up from West Sussex?

Nerfmother Sat 15-Jun-13 11:13:53

It is tomorrow isn't it? Sunday? Just checking I'm not meant to be driving anywhere today...

OldBagWantsNewBag Sat 15-Jun-13 11:47:37

5madthings Sat 15-Jun-13 11:56:22

We will be there at 3:30 as the boys are mwga excited to meet a minion!!! There will be a minion?!!

HokeyCokeyPigInAPokey Sat 15-Jun-13 12:13:11

I hope there will be a minion, dds are dying to see a minion!

5madthings Sat 15-Jun-13 12:16:17

Same here! I fear there may be tears if there isnt a minion! Buy it says characters in they must have a minion....

HokeyCokeyPigInAPokey Sat 15-Jun-13 12:17:22

I am sure there will be, there must be!

HokeyCokeyPigInAPokey Sat 15-Jun-13 12:18:48

So is anyone going to reveal who they are? Would love to go home knowing who at least one of you is!!

5madthings Sat 15-Jun-13 12:44:57

I am on fb so if you want to add me then send me a pm and i will tell you my rl name smile

HokeyCokeyPigInAPokey Sat 15-Jun-13 13:00:58

I am on phone atm but will pm you later 5!

JaquelineHyde Sat 15-Jun-13 13:47:49

I'm The DC's are so excited!

I told them this morning and they have been unbearable since grin grin

They have never been to the cinema before and so have no idea how big and loud it is going to be!

fuzzpig I am coming from East Sussex (Eastbourne), what time are you planning on leaving/getting there?

I am happy to reveal who I am on the day, also happy to do the facebook thing if anyone wants to pm me.

fuzzpig Sat 15-Jun-13 15:31:11

It's a really easy journey for us - train to London Bridge then jubilee line to North Greenwich. We will probably be going earlier though if there's places to sit around/have a drink - it's better for me to allow longer and have rest stops!

More than happy to FB/PM as I won't be broadcasting the fact that I'm fuzzpig while we're there (nobody in my family knows my MN name and I'd like it to stay that way!). I will be carrying a TopCat bag though, if that helps grin

EstoyAqui Sat 15-Jun-13 16:13:32

I'm happy to add via FB. PM me if you want to know who I am.

HokeyCokeyPigInAPokey Sat 15-Jun-13 20:07:04

I have made a preview page on FB

If you want to join just this evening just so you see some familiar faces tomorrow, please pm me your rl name and i will send you an invite to it.

nenevomito Sun 16-Jun-13 16:57:31

Thank you soooo much smile

ExasperatedSigh Mon 17-Jun-13 08:19:56

Yes, same here. I will add my feedback to the other thread but had to say a big thank you - we had such a brilliant time and both kids were thoroughly worn out with happiness when we got home smile
