Thank you for attending the Flash-Febreze Fragrance event day. We really hope you had a good time, enjoyed making your own fragrance and have been using the Flash-Febreze products you received in your goody bags.

Below are the questions Flash-Febreze would like you to answer - please post responses below. Of course if you have any other comments or views on the products feel free to make them here too!

Many thanks
MNHQ

1. After using Flash with Febreze, would you say your home smelt and felt fresh as well as looked clean?

2. Did you notice a fresher smell for longer after using Flash with Febreze, compared to other similar cleaning products you may have used before?

3. What were the main difference(s) between your usual cleaner and Flash with Febreze? (eg smell, finish etc)

4. If you don't like cleaning, would you say using Flash with Febreze makes it a slightly more bearable task?

5. After using new Flash with Febreze do you think you would use this product again?

6. What are your thoughts on Steve's talk around the "science" of smell and CleanTherapy? Did you find the talk interesting and informative? What was the main thing you learnt?

1. The clean-washing scent has definitely been detectable for a couple of days after the mops. I can smell it in the cupboard where the mop hangs, and also in the bathroom after I flush the mop-water down the loo. BTW, I don't use scented washing powder (but ecover), so this scent is actually unknown to my house.

2. The smell lingered longer. (Longer than anything but Cif on the floor, although Cif was a pain to clean off the floor, so won't be doing that again). There may have been slightly less foaming/frothing with the Flash/Febreze, which meant it was less of a hassle wiping down the floor after the first mop over (to get rid of the cleaner so it didn't dry in smudges).

3. Duration of scent, colour.

4. Not sure.

5. I am not sure I am going to use the multipurpose cleaner, as I prefer Dettol for counter surfaces, particularly in the kitchen. Perhaps that bottle will have to migrate to the bathroom. As for the floor, I shall finish this bottle, and will think about another, but, to be honest, I am more likely to recommend it than to use it myself. That sounds perverse until I say that I normally use ecover floorwash (and various other ecover cleaning products), because of the water quality issue (of effectively pouring these things down the drain). Dettol for counters is an exception, but that is because of the antibacterial properties, which are pretty crucial in a kitchen, especially one with a small child. Yet I wouldn't mind recommending it to others, because many people are suspicious of my ecover wash, and are just not up for it! If that is the case, I don't see why I shouldn't recommend a cleaning product (Flash/Febreze) which seemed quite nice.

6. I thought the talk was brilliant. Steve was very interesting, understood well what would interest outsiders (though was slightly let down by tech issues and acoustics), and did have an answer to a question about why and how air fresheners worked. The fact that he picked up on a comment about Patrick Suskind's "Perfume" also underlined his commitment to the job (if he reads about it, too....)

1. After using Flash with Febreze, would you say your home smelt and felt fresh as well as looked clean?

The smell was really lovely, I used it just before a house viewing on Saturday and it gave me confidence that it smelt really good and looked clean

2. Did you notice a fresher smell for longer after using Flash with Febreze, compared to other similar cleaning products you may have used before?

I can still smell the fragrance in the bathrooms and cloakroom, it is really long lasting

3. What were the main difference(s) between your usual cleaner and Flash with Febreze? (eg smell, finish etc)
The smell was really subtle and fresh, the house smelt clean and pleasant rather than of chemicals, and the length of time that the smell has stayed.

4. If you don't like cleaning, would you say using Flash with Febreze makes it a slightly more bearable task?

I don't dislike cleaning, but like many other people have limited time for it, the spray was easy to wipe and seemed to take more dirt with it than my regular products

5. After using new Flash with Febreze do you think you would use this product again?

For sure and I would recommend it to others as well

6. What are your thoughts on Steve's talk around the "science" of smell and CleanTherapy? Did you find the talk interesting and informative? What was the main thing you learnt?

It was a most interesting talk, and the thing I learnt is that natural fragrances are enhanced by artificial ingredients which was unexpected, when making the perfume I was surprised how the perfume lacked depth without the artificial ingredients which actually smelt unpleasant on their own. It was also interesting to hear about the science behind odour release technology.

I would just like to add my thanks for a most enjoyable morning, it was something really different.

1. After using Flash with Febreze, would you say your home smelt and felt fresh as well as looked clean?
* Yes

2. Did you notice a fresher smell for longer after using Flash with Febreze, compared to other similar cleaning products you may have used before?
* Yes, definitely. I liked the "clean" smell it left. This was noticeable to others too, for example my dh entered the kitchen and commented.

3. What were the main difference(s) between your usual cleaner and Flash with Febreze? (eg smell, finish etc)
* Positive: Smell is stronger - I usually use Dettol which, whilst cleaning power is similar, doesn't leave a noticeable smell. Usually I prefer that as some cleaners can be too sweet, which I don't like. Flash with Febreze is a good combination.
* Negative: The colour is a lot more noticeable than anything I've ever used. I'd prefer something lighter or colourless.

4. If you don't like cleaning, would you say using Flash with Febreze makes it a slightly more bearable task?
* No, not really. Spray bottles makes me clean work surfaces more often, but that applies to most cleaning brands.

5. After using new Flash with Febreze do you think you would use this product again?
* Possibly, but I'd prefer it less coloured. If they scaled down on that, I'd most likely use it again. Currently that is the one thing that puts me off the product.

6. What are your thoughts on Steve's talk around the "science" of smell and CleanTherapy? Did you find the talk interesting and informative? What was the main thing you learnt?
* Excellent talk. Steve clearly knows a lot about his subject and has very good presentation skills. He interacted well with everyone and was very helpful.
* Main thing learnt: It's not as easy to create the perfect fragrance as you'd think.

Lotkinsgonecurly Mon 22-Mar-10 15:41:22

I really liked the product, it was a much better smell than a cleaner with bleach. Softer but not too pongy!

2. The smell definately lasted for quite a long time. It smelt fresher, I used the liquid on floors and they came up really shiny and fresh smelling.

3. The product was quite blue! Finish on floors and surfaces was good, they really looked clean and retained their shine rather than dulling after cleaning.

4. I really don't like cleaning, I do chuckle when I look at the bottles and think of the perfume we made.

5. I would definatley buy this product again.

6. I really enjoyed Steve's talk on fragrances and thought it was really informative. It made me realise how complex frangrance making is and how different combinations together smell great but independantly can smell quite different.

I also really enjoyed the event. Thank you

1. After using Flash with Febreze, would you say your home smelt and felt fresh as well as looked clean?

Ok, there is no doubt it cleans well! The spray does say 'cover surface completely', which I was a bit hmm about, as it seems so very liberal! I'm used to a few sprays here and there and then spread it around as you wipe.
It does smell fresh, but I'm afraid I'm having to reprogramme my brain. Ever since Febreze came out, in my head its been the spray for people who cant be arsed to wash their curtains or settee covers! I associate it with fabrics. So it seems a bit odd to smell it in areas of cooking etc. But if you take it at face value, its a nice smell.

2. Did you notice a fresher smell for longer after using Flash with Febreze, compared to other similar cleaning products you may have used before?

I have a dettol fetish, so my house reeks of it. In thaty respect, no the new product didnt smell for longer. But I also use Kitchen Power, and I cant recall any particular smell from that.

3. What were the main difference(s) between your usual cleaner and Flash with Febreze? (eg smell, finish etc)

See above. Plus, I actually really like the bottle of the febreze, in terms of handling and spraying. Blue does make me think hygiene.

4. If you don't like cleaning, would you say using Flash with Febreze makes it a slightly more bearable task?

I dont dislike cleaning, but in all honesty, nothing would make me enjoy it more or less. I'm just glad I've gone past my childhood pocket money job days, of chalky cream cleaners and laborious scrubbing.

5. After using new Flash with Febreze do you think you would use this product again?

In all honesty, it depends on price. I like it, but price would decide.

6. What are your thoughts on Steve's talk around the "science" of smell and CleanTherapy? Did you find the talk interesting and informative? What was the main thing you learnt?

I loved the talk, sadly enough! I felt like I should be taking notes incase I forgot things. The history bit appealed to me as a history graduate, then he lost me a bit once the chemistry kicked in! I'm still wondering why humans are attracted to animal scents such as deer and beaver things; surely that doesnt fit with evolution? In what way does it benefit us to be attracted to animals? And I'm also wondering why we dont like products based on human smells, as that would be more logical?! Why are we trying to cover up human nature with animal/plant/artificial scents?
I thought Steve was very down to earth and accessible to me as a laycreature who knows nothing of science. He had a lovely presentation style, and is wasted on chemistry; he should have been an historian smile.

As an aside:
1.My lavender hasnt grown!
2. I dont think it was necessary to spend so much money. Yes, we were all lured at the thought of a grand day out, but I'm sure hire of the penthouse was a vast amount. I'm a firm advocate of saving money.
3.Full marks for not pushing the product, and for your subtle placements/displays!

pixierara Mon 22-Mar-10 22:26:04

After using Flash with Febreze, would you say your home smelt and felt fresh as well as looked clean?

My floors gleamned! I usually use a special floor cleaner, so to use a multi purpose was a new one on me - I loved the effectiveness and the fresh smell that lingered for a fair while.
2. Did you notice a fresher smell for longer after using Flash with Febreze, compared to other similar cleaning products you may have used before?

In all honestly, I don't think the smell lasted as long as my regular floor cleaner - however, the smell was much nicer! I really, really like it and lots of people have commented on how "clean" my house is. Disclaimer - was not clean, just washed floors, dust everyhwere else!

3. What were the main difference(s) between your usual cleaner and Flash with Febreze? (eg smell, finish etc)

The cleaning abilities were on a par but the smell was far superior!

4. If you don't like cleaning, would you say using Flash with Febreze makes it a slightly more bearable task?

I don't like/dislike cleaning, it is something that needs to be "done". However, I am slightly more inclined to get on with it using these products. I also like the blue colour as associate this with cleanliness!

5. After using new Flash with Febreze do you think you would use this product again?

Absolutely - especially if they bought out a bathroom cleaner - I really don't like the current Flash bathroom smell but it is effective as a cleaner!

6. What are your thoughts on Steve's talk around the "science" of smell and CleanTherapy? Did you find the talk interesting and informative? What was the main thing you learnt?

Steve was incredibly informative and knowledgable about his subject matter and I really thought he interacted with us lots. I enjoyed the history of making perfumes but admittedly got a bit lost on the science/chemistry side of things. I loved the random facts about things like Whales Snot though, just wish I could remember what it was called!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you fo such an enjoyable day out!

Went this afternoon and so haven't tried products yet but just wanted to jump in and say thanks! So will post comments soon - after extensive research.

It was an enjoyable afternoon and could have easily listened to Steve muchmuch longer.

I was very impressed with location and complete lack of mention of Flash with febreze grin until the last minute.

Ambergris. wink

1. After using Flash with Febreze, would you say your home smelt and felt fresh as well as looked clean?

I thought the initial scent was very light and gentle and didn't think it smelled at all like cleaner and I'm not entirely sure I like that. It cleans just as well as the old style Flash cleaners but the smell wasn't long lasting IME.

2. Did you notice a fresher smell for longer after using Flash with Febreze, compared to other similar cleaning products you may have used before?

It was a light and frsh smell to begin with, but I didn't think there was a lasting smell which was what I was expecting. I think the original Flash smell lasts much longer.

3. What were the main difference(s) between your usual cleaner and Flash with Febreze? (eg smell, finish etc)

The main difference was the lighter scent. I disn't use my Marigolds unusually when I used it and found my skin very dry/rough afterwards. I don't recall this happening with the other Flash.

4. If you don't like cleaning, would you say using Flash with Febreze makes it a slightly more bearable task?

Not really.

5. After using new Flash with Febreze do you think you would use this product again?

I'm not sure. I think I'm more likely to buy the older style Flash which I've decanted into a spray bottle for about 10+ years. I think I prefer the smell.

6. What are your thoughts on Steve's talk around the "science" of smell and CleanTherapy? Did you find the talk interesting and informative? What was the main thing you learnt?

I loved the chat from Steve. He was really interesting to listen to and spoke easily about the whole history and process of perfume making.
I loved the revelation of the Egyptians putting a lump of fat on their heads with layers of flower oils(Effleurage)and having it melt over their heads(Euw!)
I learned the reason perfume is so expensive!!!

pixierara Wed 24-Mar-10 07:37:27

can I just add that last night DH cooked a curry and didn't clean the kitchen. This morning there were ground in curry stains where he had dished up..I put the spray on and left for about 5mins, it was really, really easy to clean up - no scrubbing needed. V.Impressed with that but like my previous post and the previous poster, just wish the smell lasted longer as is very nice!

PS Really didn't like the candle though, was way too overpowering.....back to using my lovely lily flame ones!

triplets333 Wed 24-Mar-10 11:55:07

1. After using Flash with Febreze, would you say your home smelt and felt fresh as well as looked clean?
Yes, the clean washing on the line smell wafted throughout the house, even though it had only been used on the floor!

2. Did you notice a fresher smell for longer after using Flash with Febreze, compared to other similar cleaning products you may have used before? It was certainly a fresh smell but I didn't notice a longer term effect blush

3. What were the main difference(s) between your usual cleaner and Flash with Febreze? (eg smell, finish etc)
I've never had such a fresh smelling cleaner before.

4. If you don't like cleaning, would you say using Flash with Febreze makes it a slightly more bearable task?
Erm. think that may be wishful thinking! grin

5. After using new Flash with Febreze do you think you would use this product again? Yes, I'm a sucker for new and improved grin

6. What are your thoughts on Steve's talk around the "science" of smell and CleanTherapy? Did you find the talk interesting and informative? What was the main thing you learnt? I did find it interesting though there was a LOT of it. I was q interested in the way they collect the jasmine blossom. One of the people in my group seemed to be nodding off, perhaps the room was too warmwink.

champagnesupernova Wed 24-Mar-10 12:02:38

1. After using Flash with Febreze, would you say your home smelt and felt fresh as well as looked clean?
Definitely - was only used on the kitchen floor, but we could even smell the cleanness upstairs.

2. Did you notice a fresher smell for longer after using Flash with Febreze, compared to other similar cleaning products you may have used before? Not really.

3. What were the main difference(s) between your usual cleaner and Flash with Febreze? (eg smell, finish etc)
I didn't notice extra cleaning power, but I usually use Flash anyway, but I would definitely say it had a cleaner smell.

4. If you don't like cleaning, would you say using Flash with Febreze makes it a slightly more bearable task?
hmm

5. After using new Flash with Febreze do you think you would use this product again? Maybe, I'm quite fickle grin

6. What are your thoughts on Steve's talk around the "science" of smell and CleanTherapy? Did you find the talk interesting and informative? What was the main thing you learnt? Steve is clearly passionate about his work . It was very informative. I was amazed at how much goes into making a fragrance.

lynnethlou Wed 24-Mar-10 20:30:39

1. After using Flash with Febreze, would you say your home smelt and felt fresh as well as looked clean?
Yes-really lovely, non chemical smell, a bit like after you've tumble dried clothes.

2. Did you notice a fresher smell for longer after using Flash with Febreze, compared to other similar cleaning products you may have used before?
erm, not really longer lasting than any other products I have used.

3. What were the main difference(s) between your usual cleaner and Flash with Febreze? (eg smell, finish etc)
I think the smell.

4. If you don't like cleaning, would you say using Flash with Febreze makes it a slightly more bearable task?
not really

5. After using new Flash with Febreze do you think you would use this product again?
yes

6. What are your thoughts on Steve's talk around the "science" of smell and CleanTherapy? Did you find the talk interesting and informative? What was the main thing you learnt?
Was very interesting, liked learning about the history of perfume

Finbar Mon 29-Mar-10 09:23:03

. After using Flash with Febreze, would you say your home smelt and felt fresh as well as looked clean?

Yes it definitely smelt cleaner and fragrant - but it only lasted about a day

2. Did you notice a fresher smell for longer after using Flash with Febreze, compared to other similar cleaning products you may have used before?

Yes - slightly - but it would be preferable if it lasted a bit longer ( or am I just too lazy to clean every bloomin' day?!)

3. What were the main difference(s) between your usual cleaner and Flash with Febreze? (eg smell, finish etc)

Smell def more noticeable . I am not a' perfume' everywhere' type of gal, I loathe those plug in air fresheners and so I don't generally buy products because they are selling themselves on being scented. I agree with a previous poster about associating Febreeze with people spry cleaning their house with scented chemicals - it just makes me think 'asthma'!

4. If you don't like cleaning, would you say using Flash with Febreze makes it a slightly more bearable task?
Slightly

5. After using new Flash with Febreze do you think you would use this product again?
Yes - although would also depend on price. I wouldn't pay a significant amount more for a scent

6. What are your thoughts on Steve's talk around the "science" of smell and CleanTherapy? Did you find the talk interesting and informative? What was the main thing you learnt?

Very interesting talk - It would have been useful to link it into the product and how the perfume was developed to create the various Febreeze scents.

MrsTicklemouseWantsBunnyEars Mon 29-Mar-10 19:00:10

1. After using Flash with Febreze, would you say your home smelt and felt fresh as well as looked clean?

Yes, definitely, the smell is lovely, not at all chemically or sickly sweet, it really does smell 'fresh'

2. Did you notice a fresher smell for longer after using Flash with Febreze, compared to other similar cleaning products you may have used before?

I did notice the smell for longer with the floor cleaner, it's lovely to come down to first thing in the morning, and the understairs cupboard where the mop lives now smells lovely. but i cant really say the same for the surface cleaner, it did linger for a while but not as long as the floor cleaner

3. What were the main difference(s) between your usual cleaner and Flash with Febreze? (eg smell, finish etc)

The colour is very blue!!
The smell is much nicer and longer lasting, i like it for the floor cleaner but I'm not sure how i feel about it for the surface cleaner, food is quite often put straight onto our surfaces and I feel like the fragrance is just another chemical to go on the food, I know all cleaners are scented I just seem more conscious of this one!
I didn't really notice any difference in cleaning power

4. If you don't like cleaning, would you say using Flash with Febreze makes it a slightly more bearable task?

I quite enjoy cleaning blush

5. After using new Flash with Febreze do you think you would use this product again?

I would definitely buy/recommend the floor cleaner (unless it was over pricedgrinblush) i don't think i would buy the surface cleaner though

6. What are your thoughts on Steve's talk around the "science" of smell and CleanTherapy? Did you find the talk interesting and informative? What was the main thing you learnt?

Steve was brilliant, the talk was very interesting and informative with being patronising or overly scientific, I found it the science behind the 'febreeze scent locking type technology' fascinating

Well, after extensive research grin I have finally used the products and am now in the position to reply:

1. After using Flash with Febreze, would you say your home smelt and felt fresh as well as looked clean?
Yes - most definitely - left the kitchen sink with a hot solution of the pouring stuff to soak all the deep stains off it. Went out for the afternoon and was greeted with a lovely smell of clean washing as soon as I opened the front door - fantastic.

2. Did you notice a fresher smell for longer after using Flash with Febreze, compared to other similar cleaning products you may have used before?
Most definitely - stayed at least a few hours after cleaning the bathroom with the spray Flash.

3. What were the main difference(s) between your usual cleaner and Flash with Febreze? (eg smell, finish etc)
The fragrance is absolutely lovely.

4. If you don't like cleaning, would you say using Flash with Febreze makes it a slightly more bearable task?
Slightly. wink

5. After using new Flash with Febreze do you think you would use this product again?
Most definitely - and would recommend.

6. What are your thoughts on Steve's talk around the "science" of smell and CleanTherapy?
Would have sat and listened to Steve talk with no incentive needed.

Did you find the talk interesting and informative?
Very interesting and informative - has certainly started thing about scents again see my thread from that day here

What was the main thing you learnt?
How to make the inevitable deterioration of perfume slow down by keeping dark and cold.

Just a little thought - I was very surprised at the lack of promotion of Flash with Febreze throughout the afternoon. It was a pleasant surprise not to be bombarded by marketing.

Thank you Mumsnet (and Flash) for an enjoyable afternoon.

tibni Wed 31-Mar-10 22:42:42

1. After using Flash with Febreze, would you say your home smelt and felt fresh as well as looked clean?

Light, clean smell. Product cleaned as well as any cleaner.

2. Did you notice a fresher smell for longer after using Flash with Febreze, compared to other similar cleaning products you may have used before?

No. I tend to use strong smelling cleaning products in areas such as the bathroom and on paintwork and found the flash smell light.

3. What were the main difference(s) between your usual cleaner and Flash with Febreze? (eg smell, finish etc)

fresh, light fragrance

4. If you don't like cleaning, would you say using Flash with Febreze makes it a slightly more bearable task?

Not really. I do tend to buy products on scents I like but I have a variety that I will buy (or avoid).

5. After using new Flash with Febreze do you think you would use this product again?

If it was at a good price then it is a product I wouuld buy. I wouldn't pay more for it.

6. What are your thoughts on Steve's talk around the "science" of smell and CleanTherapy?

I really enjoyed Steves talk it was very interesting and he presented the information in a very accessible format.

Did you find the talk interesting and informative? What was the main thing you learnt?

Yes it was very interesting and I learnt a lot from the talk. I really enjoyed getting the chance to smell all the individual scents and seeing my own response to them.

I really enjoyed the day. Product placement was minimal and there was no pressure at all.

Yes

3. What were the main difference(s) between your usual cleaner and Flash with Febreze? (eg smell, finish etc)

A much more fresher natural smell. Although I do like a clean lemony smell in my bathroom, for downstairs and in kitchen its a lovely smell and lasted a good while.

4. If you don't like cleaning, would you say using Flash with Febreze makes it a slightly more bearable task?

Yes I'd say so. I found I was more frequent with my flash spraying as I loved the clean fresh smell.

5. After using new Flash with Febreze do you think you would use this product again?

Yes definitely.

6. What are your thoughts on Steve's talk around the "science" of smell and CleanTherapy? Did you find the talk interesting and informative? What was the main thing you learnt?

It was interesting and informative but did make me feel slightly that I was in a lecture hall back at uni. I mean this in a good way if that makes sense- he'd make a good lecturer!
The main thing I learnt was how important perfumes and scents were in the times before people were more informed about germs and hygeine.

1. After using Flash with Febreze, would you say your home smelt and felt fresh as well as looked clean? Yes it wasnt chemically like normal

2. Did you notice a fresher smell for longer after using Flash with Febreze, compared to other similar cleaning products you may have used before? Was a far nicer smell, usually I try not to use too much as they all smell heavy

3. What were the main difference(s) between your usual cleaner and Flash with Febreze? (eg smell, finish etc)Itcleaned about the same as the usual cleaner but didnt leave me with a fuzzy head from the chemically head as it wasnt as over powering and the finish was as good.

4. If you don't like cleaning, would you say using Flash with Febreze makes it a slightly more bearable task? Yes as the smell wasnt as heavy

5. After using new Flash with Febreze do you think you would use this product again?Yes

6. What are your thoughts on Steve's talk around the "science" of smell and CleanTherapy? Did you find the talk interesting and informative? What was the main thing you learnt? 1. After using Flash with Febreze, would you say your home smelt and felt fresh as well as looked clean?
Yes definately, It smelled so nice I really like the smell.

2. Did you notice a fresher smell for longer after using Flash with Febreze, compared to other similar cleaning products you may have used before?
Yes. The house smelled much nicer for a while, well until I started cooking.

3. What were the main difference(s) between your usual cleaner and Flash with Febreze? (eg smell, finish etc)
Smells nicer than my usual bleachy type it
didnt leave my floors straky and was good on the windows too.

4. If you don't like cleaning, would you say using Flash with Febreze makes it a slightly more bearable task?
yes the smell and ease of use made it better but I tend to clean up daily anyway

5. After using new Flash with Febreze do you think you would use this product again?
Yes I liked it

6. What are your thoughts on Steve's talk around the "science" of smell and CleanTherapy? Did you find the talk interesting and informative? What was the main thing you learnt?
The talk was interesting but I get confused easy so I kept getting lost and all the latin names and big words just completely lost me, sorry Steve, I learnt that its a complex thing extracting the "smell" from the raw product. I was disappointed at the lack of talk about the flash product and only breifly about the science behind Febreze. I learnt rose scent smelled so bad it gave me headache and I felt sick.

I love the candle in the goodybag and DH is growing the lavender plant he is the greenfingered one.

Also I would like to add that I cleaned DH coach with the products and the passengers noticed and commented that the coach smelled really clean and nice, it smelled clean all afternoon. You would also be pleased to know that the Emmerdale cast and crew said they like it when they were asked how the coach smelled.

1. After using Flash with Febreze, would you say your home smelt and felt fresh as well as looked clean?

yes, i REALLY liked the fragrance, a refreshing change from blardy lavender!

2. Did you notice a fresher smell for longer after using Flash with Febreze, compared to other similar cleaning products you may have used before?

Umm, no but i have a horrible cold! DH said it all smelt lovely though when he got home a few hours later.

3. What were the main difference(s) between your usual cleaner and Flash with Febreze? (eg smell, finish etc)

the fragrance.

4. If you don't like cleaning, would you say using Flash with Febreze makes it a slightly more bearable task?

that particular frangrace did for me, had it have been the normal bog standard lemon, pine or lavender i'd have probably shoved it in the cleaning cupboard never to see the light of day again!

5. After using new Flash with Febreze do you think you would use this product again?

I would, in fact i have finished the squirty bottle and have tried to get more BUT we are limited with retailers in rural wales and not one stocks that fragrance- is it a new one? will it be widely availiable soon? all i can get is Flash with flipping LAVENDER febreze!

6. What are your thoughts on Steve's talk around the "science" of smell and CleanTherapy? Did you find the talk interesting and informative? What was the main thing you learnt?

I though Steve was fabulous, really informative without frying my brain with too much science, shame he didn't have Chanel no.5 freebies for us wink i was amazed at the difference that the method of extraction makes to the core fragrance. I mainly learnt that Aldehyde's give me a truely horrendous headache and i don't like Rose because it reminds me of the wicked witch who taught me to play the piano when i was young!

Echoing the others, it was a lovely day, not too in your face with the flash products. Loved the candle to match the flash fragrance- have ordered more of them blush Also all credit to the lovely chap who was doing the actual 'organising' he was great and really helpful when i had to get a sleeping dd up to the creche room. All in all i would do it again (providing next time they also provide a complimentary cleaning service to test the products in my home for me grin)

Thanks Mn and Flash......... and all the lovely ladies i met!

AnnMumsnet (MNHQ) Thu 01-Apr-10 18:55:13

reallywoundup - you've made that "lovely chaps" weekend with that comment! grin
Thanks for all the feedback so far...

littlesleepyhead Thu 01-Apr-10 23:46:33

After DH's clean coach another driver has noticed the clean fresh smell and now also cleans his coach with the stuff shock so it must be good then if the coach drivers are actually bothering to clean their coaches with flash with febreze they paid for themselves.
New target market commercial users!

mustrunmore Fri 02-Apr-10 18:48:01

Slightly concerned that whenever I smell it now, I'll associate it with posh hotels grin

And very concerned that I actually had a dream involving Steve last week <sad life with too much thinking time on my hands!>

Yey! Found the nice smelling flash in poundland today! Fab, got some of the green morning dew one as well and that smells nice too, so scrap my previous comment about not being able to get it blush

tibni Fri 02-Apr-10 22:03:55

Thanks for that reallywoundup - will check out poundland.

The more I have used it the more I am liking the fragrance. I really do not like fabreze that you spray on fabric (or didn't when I tried it when it first came out) but the flash is much better

No probs tibni, if I can get it in poundland I will def carry on using it [cheapskate]!!! grin

After finally getting around to doing some 'proper' cleaning blush I'm ready to join in now:

1. After using Flash with Febreze, would you say your home smelt and felt fresh as well as looked clean?

Yes, definately smelt clean and fresh.

2. Did you notice a fresher smell for longer after using Flash with Febreze, compared to other similar cleaning products you may have used before?

Have been out for the afternoon and came back to a fresh smell, so the fragrance definately lasted longer than my usual cleaning products.

3. What were the main difference(s) between your usual cleaner and Flash with Febreze? (eg smell, finish etc)

Cleaned just a well but smelt better than the usual artificial chemical/bleachy smell.

4. If you don't like cleaning, would you say using Flash with Febreze makes it a slightly more bearable task?

I really don't enjoy cleaning but do like it when I've done it and the house looks and smells clean. I think the fragrance may encourage me to get off MN do it more often.

5. After using new Flash with Febreze do you think you would use this product again?

Yes, without a doubt.

6. What are your thoughts on Steve's talk around the "science" of smell and CleanTherapy? Did you find the talk interesting and informative? What was the main thing you learnt?

Really enjoyed Steve's talk, he made the subject sound interesting without being either too technical or patronising.

The main thing I learnt was about just how much effort goes into creating fragrances. I'd never given it a thought that there's a whole industry around the process.

Thanks Flash and MN for a lovely day (and I echo the thanks to the lovely young man who looked after us).

Lovely group of ladies too grin.

1. After using Flash with Febreze, would you say your home smelt and felt fresh as well as looked clean?

My home definately smells much fresher, even with Benji (the worlds stinkiest dog on the case)

2. Did you notice a fresher smell for longer after using Flash with Febreze, compared to other similar cleaning products you may have used before?

yes, definately

3. What were the main difference(s) between your usual cleaner and Flash with Febreze? (eg smell, finish etc)

I didnt really notice that much difference in the finish, but the smell is a huge bonus.

4. If you don't like cleaning, would you say using Flash with Febreze makes it a slightly more bearable task?

Im not really sure that anything would make cleaning more bearable, but it does make me feel like ive done a little more

5. After using new Flash with Febreze do you think you would use this product again?

yes, definately.

6. What are your thoughts on Steve's talk around the "science" of smell and CleanTherapy? Did you find the talk interesting and informative? What was the main thing you learnt?

I really enjoyed the talk and found the science behind fragarence very interesting.

would like to echo everyone else, I had a fab day and everyone was lovely. cant wait to do it again!

pixierara Fri 09-Apr-10 19:06:28

Was very pleased to see that the Flash with Febreeze was on special in Sainsburys today - £2 for 2 of the squirty bottles...

Is anyone else getting addicted to the smell or is that just me hmm

littleducks Tue 13-Apr-10 09:15:50

Ok so my update is that, I havent really used the spray bottle, i much prefer the flash spray with bleach for spraying things.

However i love the big bottle of cleaner, i was the kitchen floor and it leaves a lovely lingering fragrence of clean sheets that helps combat the cooking smells. Will buy another bottle.

tibni Thu 15-Apr-10 18:16:35

pixierara - yes I am getting very used to the fragrance. I have decanted from the big bottle into the empty spay bottle and will be buying more. Initially I wasn't 100% sure but the more I use it the more I am liking it.

1. After using Flash with Febreze, would you say your home smelt and felt fresh as well as looked clean?
yes!
I even clean more now because the smell is so nice hmm

2. Did you notice a fresher smell for longer after using Flash with Febreze, compared to other similar cleaning products you may have used before?

yes, the smell lasts much longer instead of just while i am cleaning.

3. What were the main difference(s) between your usual cleaner and Flash with Febreze? (eg smell, finish etc)

The smell was much nicer (more subtle and fresh), it worked better, the way it came out of the bottle was better too!

4. If you don't like cleaning, would you say using Flash with Febreze makes it a slightly more bearable task?

Yes!

5. After using new Flash with Febreze do you think you would use this product again?
Definatly!

6. What are your thoughts on Steve's talk around the "science" of smell and CleanTherapy? Did you find the talk interesting and informative? What was the main thing you learnt?

I enjoyed it although i did get a little lost when so many long words were used. The main ting i learned was that febreze is a technology and not a product blush and that even if you don't like the smell of something (the vertibert one) it doesn't mean that, when added to other scents, that the end product can be quite nice.

Also that its a bloody hard job being a "smell developer" !

jaamy Thu 20-May-10 19:01:30

1. After using Flash with Febreze, would you say your home smelt and felt fresh as well as looked clean?
The smell is lovely - clean and fresh, though it doesn't seem to last very long

2. Did you notice a fresher smell for longer after using Flash with Febreze, compared to other similar cleaning products you may have used before?
The smell doesn't seem to last, although we do keep our doors and windows open whenever possible. I did notice that in the larder (where there is no window) the smell lasted a bit longer.

3. What were the main difference(s) between your usual cleaner and Flash with Febreze? (eg smell, finish etc)

The cleaning power wasn't as good as our usual multipurpose cleaner but the smell was definitely more pleasant.

4. If you don't like cleaning, would you say using Flash with Febreze makes it a slightly more bearable task?

Yes, your hands smell better after using the products - instead of a linger bleach or pine smell.

5. After using new Flash with Febreze do you think you would use this product again?

Possibly, but not for really gimey spots. However, it would depend on prices and I haven't investigated them yet!

6. What are your thoughts on Steve's talk around the "science" of smell and CleanTherapy? Did you find the talk interesting and informative? What was the main thing you learnt?

Very informative and quite entertaining. I liked seeing how perfumes were put together with the top, middle and bottom notes (longer lasting).

The whole session flew by!

Thanks

bilblio Sat 22-May-10 19:54:01

Sorry for the delay, I don't get to clean often myself, DH is a SAHD so he keep it looking vaguely respectable, then I give it a proper clean every couple of weeks. I decided to wash down the kitchen and living room, so I had a bucket with the multipurpose cleaner in and the squirty bottle for the more difficult areas.

1. The house did certainly smell and look clean after using it. I was pleased with how well the squirty bottle worked, particularly on the really stubborn things (crushed up wax crayon on laminate floors, dried on weetabix in cracks of daughters chair). The multipurpose cleaner didn't leave streaks on the floor either.

2. The smell lasted for a couple of hours, but I can't say I noticed it after that. Sometimes our house can seem to smell really badly of cats and cooking smells... to me at least no one has ever commented... but I've not noticed it since we've been using these cleaners.

3. The main difference is I use ecover or natural cleaners like vinegar. The flash certainly works better, and smells better than the vinegar (although I add essential oils to mask that). But I'll probably still stick to my natural things for day to day cleaning and keep a bottle of this for occasional thorough cleans.

4. Yes, because the house smells noticably clean, so even when DD trashes it within minutes the smell reminds me that even though it may look a mess at least it's a clean mess.

5. Yes I would. My Mum came round whilst I was cleaning (and very kindly joined in) she was so impressed and liked the smell that much that she bought some the next time she went shopping.

6. Very interesting. I didn't realise so much went into mixing perfumes. I thought there'd be just one or 2 scents, not a whole raft of them. I didn't realise how febreze worked either. I thought it just masked the smell for a while. I'll probably use it more often now

Coderooo Sat 22-May-10 19:55:03

i love the smell

swissmiss Sat 22-May-10 21:34:54

1. Yes.
2. Yes, could def. smell the cotton fresh smell quite strongly the following morning after having wiped the kitchen counters the night before.
3. I don’t have a usual cleaner, buy what is on offer. Currently happen to be using (normal) Flash. The spray bottle has a new nozzle design which feels a bit sturdier and has more of a mist spray which I like. Cleaning effectiveness same but the lingering fresh/non-chemical smell (in comparison) is a pleasant change.
4. Not particularly!
5. Only if it is priced at same level as “normal” product. Not worth a price premium imho.
6. Steve’s talk was good. He obviously enjoys his job! Dwelt a bit too much on history, would have preferred more time to spend on creating our own scent to try and understand via practice how a “nice” perfume is achieved. Was surprised at how many different “smells” are combined to make a perfume. Interesting to hear how Febreeze actually works.

suwoo Mon 24-May-10 14:14:11

1. After using Flash with Febreze, would you say your home smelt and felt fresh as well as looked clean?
Yes

2. Did you notice a fresher smell for longer after using Flash with Febreze, compared to other similar cleaning products you may have used before?
Yes, it did smell fresher, which is nice. It really does smell like line dried washing and perhaps more 'natural'.

3. What were the main difference(s) between your usual cleaner and Flash with Febreze? (eg smell, finish etc)
I don't have a 'normal' cleaner, I alternate, but I do like a strong smelling ones, the febreze one definitely has a smell that I would go for. The only thing I consider to be a down side is that the mist is too misty. What I mean, is that I had to keep re-spraying when cleaning my worktops- not much comes out in comparison to other products.

4. If you don't like cleaning, would you say using Flash with Febreze makes it a slightly more bearable task?
Not really no. It was also very uncomfortable on my excema hands, although I know I should be wearing gloves.

5. After using new Flash with Febreze do you think you would use this product again?
I will definitely use it all whilst I have it, but not sure that I would buy it.

6. What are your thoughts on Steve's talk around the "science" of smell and CleanTherapy? Did you find the talk interesting and informative? What was the main thing you learnt?
I loved Steve's talk. I thought it was fabulous that he was so passionate about his subject. I really enjoyed the 'through the ages' section, but my favourite was the tale about Chanel no5 and its conception.

1. After using Flash with Febreze, would you say your home smelt and felt fresh as well as looked clean?

Yes, definately seemed fresher.

2. Did you notice a fresher smell for longer after using Flash with Febreze, compared to other similar cleaning products you may have used before?

Yes, usually the clean smell wears off fairly quickly wheras this did last longer

3. What were the main difference(s) between your usual cleaner and Flash with Febreze? (eg smell, finish etc)

The "clean" smell lasted longer, but I didn't like the colour, prefer clear cleaning products TBH

4. If you don't like cleaning, would you say using Flash with Febreze makes it a slightly more bearable task?

Just about!

5. After using new Flash with Febreze do you think you would use this product again?

I would buy it again, particularly if it was on offer.

6. What are your thoughts on Steve's talk around the "science" of smell and CleanTherapy? Did you find the talk interesting and informative? What was the main thing you learnt?

It was fab, really interesting to hear about the different scents used through the ages and the three different types of note. Really enjoyed it!

1. After using Flash with Febreze, would you say your home smelt and felt fresh as well as looked clean? Yes, v much.

2. Did you notice a fresher smell for longer after using Flash with Febreze, compared to other similar cleaning products you may have used before? Definitely, esp in bathrooms.

3. What were the main difference(s) between your usual cleaner and Flash with Febreze? (eg smell, finish etc)Smell of freshness lasted much longer and so gave atmosphere of cleanliness and freshness grin

4. If you don't like cleaning, would you say using Flash with Febreze makes it a slightly more bearable task? Yes, it smells like you clean all the time but actually you don't have to blush grin

5. After using new Flash with Febreze do you think you would use this product again? Yes you have won me over, i heart it. Esp in my downstairs cloak. it now smells fresh instead of wee (thank you ds angry)

6. What are your thoughts on Steve's talk around the "science" of smell and CleanTherapy? Did you find the talk interesting and informative? What was the main thing you learnt? Really really interesting!! History and science both fascinating. practical-wise - amazing how some scents smelled yuck by themselves - mix 2 yucky smells together and get a nice one shock wish that theory worked in my lav angry

Thank you everybody for lovely interesting day!

oi fish you should have come. there were posh sarnies with cocktail pin things in and everything grin

FreakoidOrganisoid Wed 26-May-10 14:59:59

1. Yes definitely

2. Yes. I cleaned my bathroom with it thursday night, went away for weekend on Friday and smelt it as soon as I opened the door on Sunday afternoon.

3. I often use Flash anyway because I like the streak free finish so not much difference there. I like the smell of the flash febreeze and love how it lasts but it felt a bit weird using a clean washing smell on kitchen surfaces and table-I think I prefer foody smells like lemon on food areas. It is still quite a synthetic smell despite being 'natural'

4. Erm...the lasting smell makes it feel like you have achieved more so cleaning does feel slightly more worthwhile.

5. Yes. I would have liked a variety of scents to try though rather than two bottles of the same

6. Very interesting and informative, he really knows his stuff. There wasn't much talk on cleantherapy (or was that when I was out of the room?). Although the talk was very interested it felt a little unbalanced and I would have liked having a bit more time to spend on making the perfume.
Main thing I learnt was that it is bloody hard to make a good perfume

M32song Thu 27-May-10 09:22:35

hello Flashers <ahem>

1. I was all prepared to hate the smell as I dislike most artificial 'clean' smells but it did smell fresh.

2. After cleaning, I went out for a couple of hours and was pleasantly surprised to get a waft of the scent when I came through the door.

3. The smell was the main difference, although I did find that I had to use more of the spray product than my usual one (Ecover) to achieve the 'clean wipe'

4. Not really. However - DP seems to think that by spraying a bit of the product into the air I will be convinced into thinking that he's been dutifully cleaning the kitchen. If he thinks I'm falling for that...

5. Hmm, depends on the price really, and I'd also like to know a bit more about it's environmental cred as I'm a bit of an Ecover convert.

6. I don't remember the 'cleantherapy' bit either..? His talk was really interesting - I liked that it was quite sciency and not too over-simplified / patronising. Against all odds, I still like the concoction that our group made.

Thanks again for a great day - well organised and good fun. I might even get around to planting me lavender today.

maxybrown Thu 27-May-10 14:13:55

1. After using Flash with Febreze, would you say your home smelt and felt fresh as well as looked clean?
To begin with yes, but not sure any more so than any other time I had just cleaned it.

2. Did you notice a fresher smell for longer after using Flash with Febreze, compared to other similar cleaning products you may have used before? yes to that one, though i usually use Ecover products

3. What were the main difference(s) between your usual cleaner and Flash with Febreze? (eg smell, finish etc)
It did smell very fresh (the floor cleaner) but also seemed a bit more chemically as use Ecover floor cleaner

4. If you don't like cleaning, would you say using Flash with Febreze makes it a slightly more bearable task? Didn't make any difference

5. After using new Flash with Febreze do you think you would use this product again? No - I preferred the floor cleaner to the spray, not keen on the spray at all

6. What are your thoughts on Steve's talk around the "science" of smell and CleanTherapy? Did you find the talk interesting and informative? What was the main thing you learnt?

It was very very interesting and had a great day (thank you), I learnt that I am useless at creating a smell I actually like and how much goes into creating a smell. The day went very quickly and i would have liked to have known more as it was all really interesting. One thing though - would have been good for us to have all intorduced ourselves as i still don't know everyone i was there with blush oh and my son loved the creche too - thanks all smile

1. After using Flash with Febreze, would you say your home smelt and felt fresh as well as looked clean?

Yes I would.

2. Did you notice a fresher smell for longer after using Flash with Febreze, compared to other similar cleaning products you may have used before?

I can't say I noticed too much of a difference, it maybe lasted a bit longer than my usual cleaner, but not much. Although it does do well getting rid of the smell of sick (TMI, sorry)

3. What were the main difference(s) between your usual cleaner and Flash with Febreze? (eg smell, finish etc)

I must be honest, I found the smell nice, but a bit odd. I'm not really used to my kitchen surfaces smelling of clean clothes. It's usually lemony and I prefer it smelling lemony I think.
It did make my surfaces shinier than my usual cleaner though.

4. If you don't like cleaning, would you say using Flash with Febreze makes it a slightly more bearable task?

It made it neither more or less bearable.

5. After using new Flash with Febreze do you think you would use this product again?

I think so, but the cost would be a factor.

6. What are your thoughts on Steve's talk around the "science" of smell and CleanTherapy? Did you find the talk interesting and informative? What was the main thing you learnt?

I really enjoyed to talk with Steve <science geek> and making the perfume was fun, even if it was tiring.

1. After using Flash with Febreze, would you say your home smelt and felt fresh as well as looked clean?

Yes.

2. Did you notice a fresher smell for longer after using Flash with Febreze, compared to other similar cleaning products you may have used before?

No.

3. What were the main difference(s) between your usual cleaner and Flash with Febreze? (eg smell, finish etc)

I had cooked fish, baked smoked fish, and my kitchen and house did not smell of it after I wiped the kitchen!

4. If you don't like cleaning, would you say using Flash with Febreze makes it a slightly more bearable task?

No.

5. After using new Flash with Febreze do you think you would use this product again?

Yes.

6. What are your thoughts on Steve's talk around the "science" of smell and CleanTherapy? Did you find the talk interesting and informative? What was the main thing you learnt?

I think the talk was interesting although I would have liked £50 worth of cleaning products and not a candle, book and lavender planthmm. Didn't really know why we had the talk. I learnt that making perfume was a very skilled art.

Chilimama Tue 01-Jun-10 20:03:15

1. After using Flash with Febreze, would you say your home smelt and felt fresh as well as looked clean?

The fragrance was fresh but I found it a bit overpowering.

2. Did you notice a fresher smell for longer after using Flash with Febreze, compared to other similar cleaning products you may have used before?

It lasted much longer than a regular cleaner but I would usually choose something that had a more subtle fragrance (usually citrus based).

3. What were the main difference(s) between your usual cleaner and Flash with Febreze? (eg smell, finish etc)

In terms of cleaning power it was almost as good except for stubborn marks such as blackcurrant. It was great on the floors though and I found the fragrance much more appropriate for the lounge than for the kitchen.

4. If you don't like cleaning, would you say using Flash with Febreze makes it a slightly more bearable task?

Not particularly.

5. After using new Flash with Febreze do you think you would use this product again?

For the floors I would but not in spray form for the kitchen surfaces.

6. What are your thoughts on Steve's talk around the "science" of smell and CleanTherapy? Did you find the talk interesting and informative? What was the main thing you learnt?

I found the history of perfumery very interesting and thought that Steve delivered the talk well. I would have liked more time to make our own fragrance though as it felt a bit rushed and tacked onto the end.

swissmiss Wed 02-Jun-10 21:21:22

having been using it for the last couple of weeks I have to add that I seem to have to got so used to the scent that I don't even notice it the next day like I did when I first used it!

MrsGokWan Fri 04-Jun-10 16:02:23

1. After using Flash with Febreze, would you say your home smelt and felt fresh as well as looked clean?

I am afraid I did not like the smell at all. It was very 'false' and did not smell as I would expect it to smell. It did stay in the downstairs loo for a day and a half so quite good value for money if you liked it.

2. Did you notice a fresher smell for longer after using Flash with Febreze, compared to other similar cleaning products you may have used before?

As said above it did linger for a long time, so good value.

3. What were the main difference(s) between your usual cleaner and Flash with Febreze? (eg smell, finish etc)

My present cleaner does not have a discernable smell at all so if you like the smell then that is a bonus. It cleaned ust as well as my present cleaner.

4. If you don't like cleaning, would you say using Flash with Febreze makes it a slightly more bearable task?

If I liked the smell then yes it definatly would be more bearable

5. After using new Flash with Febreze do you think you would use this product again?

Unfortunatly not as I did not like the smell. I also irritated my hands and made them red and itchy. I did like the spray though.

6. What are your thoughts on Steve's talk around the "science" of smell and CleanTherapy? Did you find the talk interesting and informative? What was the main thing you learnt?

How long that smells have been used and the history of it all. We could have done with longer to make our perfumes.

bratnav Tue 08-Jun-10 15:27:10

1. After using Flash with Febreze, would you say your home smelt and felt fresh as well as looked clean?

slightly

2. Did you notice a fresher smell for longer after using Flash with Febreze, compared to other similar cleaning products you may have used before?

slightly, we have 2 dogs so they do a great job of making the house smell like them in no time

3. What were the main difference(s) between your usual cleaner and Flash with Febreze? (eg smell, finish etc)

It does smell nicer, less chemically, not any difference in appearance though.

4. If you don't like cleaning, would you say using Flash with Febreze makes it a slightly more bearable task?

It's nice but it isn't that clever!

5. After using new Flash with Febreze do you think you would use this product again?

Possibly, depends on price.

6. What are your thoughts on Steve's talk around the "science" of smell and CleanTherapy? Did you find the talk interesting and informative? What was the main thing you learnt?

It was interesting and informative although he did seem to get slightly frustrated with some of the more 'chatty' amongst us, but to be fair he was fighting a bit of a losing battle. The history of perfume making was really interesting.
