Hello! We've been asked by Kodak to find 10 to 15 Mumsnetters who'd like to go along to review Kodak printers. Basically, they'd like to show off their new printer range to you and let you have a play with them.

The review event is taking place on Wednesday 22nd April at 10.30am in Folgate Street London, E1 (5 mins walk from Liverpool Street Station; exact location and directions will be emailed to those taking part). You are welcome to bring babies/ toddlers with you, if you need to.

Food and drink will be provided and you'd need to be able to stay for up to 2 hours.

Travel expenses would be paid (up to £30) and everyone who is selected and attends will receive a Kodak gift album or frame worth £30-40.

Kodak would like a broad range of parents to come but would particularly like to encourage anyone who works from home (paid or unpaid, full-time or part-time), or someone who tends to print quite a bit or would like to print more (photos, insurance documents, warranties, directions, favourite recipes etc).

You would need to bring some photos on memory sticks/cards for test printing.

After the event, Kodak would like you to post your thoughts on the printers and on printing photos in general - a link to the thread would be emailed to all participants.

To be considered for this, please complete the questions here and we'll notify those selected by 15th April by email.

Thank you!

Dwaynedibbly, sorry this one is in London - it's quite accessable from North of London/Essex etc as well but I take your point. We're hoping to have some events outside of London soon - watch this space!

FiveGoMadInDorset Wed 08-Apr-09 19:15:45

Oh I can take a train, 2 hours and 20 minutes of pure childfree bliss and reading time.

MamaG Wed 08-Apr-09 19:45:06

Fucking London

SadieSunshine Wed 08-Apr-09 21:27:17

Am I allowed to print off my whole memory card? <aiming to print off 3000 pictures>

MumOeufMonsters Wed 08-Apr-09 21:40:06

i need a new printer (also photographer) but it would cost a lot more than £30 to get to London

Dozymare Wed 08-Apr-09 22:20:38

I am definitely up for this! However, everything is stored on photobox or on my laptop so would I have to bring that with me?

(as well as 5 month old baby girl!)

I work from home, but currently on mat leave so fit the brief booootifully! grin

Not the best plan to organise this for during the school holidays if they want parents to take part. hmm

BexieID Thu 09-Apr-09 09:11:47

Grr, why can't it be the week after on the 29th? I'm travelling down from Scotland to see my family near London the week after! [Me is not a happy sad ]

AnnMumsnet (MNHQ) Thu 09-Apr-09 09:15:57

Can'tsleep - I believe most schools are back that week - I'm in Herts and we are back 21st April. Sorry if is still school hols for you.

AnnMumsnet (MNHQ) Thu 09-Apr-09 09:17:22

Dozymare - is bringing your laptop a possibility? I'll ask about accessing photobox!

I'm in Herts too, but dd (nursery school) doesn't go back til 27th. Ah well.

AnnMumsnet (MNHQ) Thu 09-Apr-09 09:38:55

Dozymare-there's wireless internet access in the event room + PCs there were photobox can be accessed! Hope you can make it.

Can'tsleep -what a shame! kodak have said you can bring children though and they'll help entertain them...so if you are feeling strong....? grin

AnnMumsnet (MNHQ) Thu 09-Apr-09 09:39:32

where doh

MmeLindt Thu 09-Apr-09 10:59:05

I wonder if I can get an Easyjet flight for £30

If you are thinking about doing events like this outside of the capital, how about going the whole hog and doing something for your overseas MNetters?

Geneva is lovely at this time of year. I will even bake you some scones.

LilRedWG Thu 09-Apr-09 11:36:35

Would I be able to bring DD along or will they pay nursery fees? wink

LilRedWG Thu 09-Apr-09 11:40:39

Just seen that children can come. I've completed the questionnaire. Could use a day in London.

LilRedWG Thu 09-Apr-09 12:09:09

Scrap that - train fares involved are too high from local station (£150) and it would take three hours as I'd have to go north to come south.

Pants.

singalongamumum Thu 09-Apr-09 12:14:11

I don't need to go- I have a Kodak printer and IT'S RUBBISH. Do I get a token for that review? grin

FiveGoMadInDorset Thu 09-Apr-09 13:28:29

I have no photo printer and have so many to print out, I also have laptop.

Dozymare Thu 09-Apr-09 16:42:21

Hurrah! Count me in! <dozymare is really hoping she will be able to print an abundance of photos stored on photobox this past year but not had the money to order/print>

What do I need to do now?

FiveGoMadInDorset Thu 09-Apr-09 17:28:28

I have checked and can come up the night before (what joy grin) for the grand total of £27.

LilRedWG Thu 09-Apr-09 19:06:48

Blimey five - wish I could.

FiveGoMadInDorset Thu 09-Apr-09 21:01:30

Don't worry. I won't get picked.

Dozymare Fri 10-Apr-09 09:57:23

five how lovely we get to meet!! (assuming we both get picked that is!)

AnnMumsnet (MNHQ) Fri 10-Apr-09 10:13:44

Dozymare - have you filled in the form here?

Dozymare Fri 10-Apr-09 11:08:50

I have now!!!!!!!!!!!! grin wink

MarsLady Fri 10-Apr-09 18:13:24

Is there still space? I'll be free that day

Bugger, PIL are arriving that day! I really want to buy a photo printer right now too, just can't justify the expense!

JiminyCricket Sun 12-Apr-09 20:34:11

Can you be sure and ask how much the printer cartridges will cost - I have a Kodak photo printer and it is extortionate, the actual printer is cheap but then you are stung for consumables

Ewe Tue 14-Apr-09 21:07:26

Soo, who is going to this then?!

Are you all taking children?

IlanaK Tue 14-Apr-09 21:09:30

I am going. I have managed to get childcare for my older two, but i am bringing my baby (9 month old) and a very full memory stick!

Ewe Tue 14-Apr-09 21:12:41

I am bring my 1 year old DD and praying she doesn't tantrum grin

See you there! I am a bit scared excited to meet other Mumsnetters. Do you think it will just be us lot in a room? Do we get to print out as many pics as we like and keep them? grin

IlanaK Tue 14-Apr-09 21:14:19

I don't think it will just be us, but maybe I am wrong. I got the impression we will be able to print a lot of pictures and certainly get to keep them.

MsSpentEaster Tue 14-Apr-09 22:16:44

Hey, i have been selected to go, yay!

How will i know who are the MNers and who aren't?

We should all take a bottle of fruitshoot

AnnMumsnet (MNHQ) Tue 14-Apr-09 22:31:02

Thanks for the responses so far.

I believe the event is only for MNers so no fruit shoots will be needed (can't guarantee they won't be served though!)

Also not sure how many pictures you'll be able to print out, but do bring your memory sticks and see how you get on grin

serenity Wed 22-Apr-09 16:49:05

"bring your memory sticks" PMSL.

Yes well... Where do you want us to post or thoughts/feelings.

(Was a very nice morning btw)

foofi Thu 23-Apr-09 12:54:15

Are we being asked for our thoughts anywhere yet?

Am going to put something here anyway...

Firstly, if Kodak are going invite 10-15 people to try out their printers, they need to provide 10-15 printers, in order to not have a few bored/cross looking people waiting for the others.

Secondly, there's no doubt that the print quality of the pictures we printed was excellent. However, the 'seling point' they were making yesterday was about cartridge price, and I'm not sure that the price of the cartridges puts me off buying a printer anyway. The reason I wouldn't print a lot of photos at home is the cost of the expensive high quality photo paper.
