You may remember we approached you last month to come up with the name for a new Mumsnet TV club - and after much vigorous discussion, you came up with the frankly brilliant 'Watch with Mumsnet'.

Well, the day has dawned: we're delighted to announce that, in association with Netflix, "Watch with Mumsnet" is now officially in existence.

The way it'll work is that we'll watch a TV series together over the course of a few weeks, and have a thread running for the duration, on which you can discuss the plots, characters, twists and scandals with other goggle-eyed Mumsnetters. On top of this, Netflix are offering some amazing prizes if you join the discussion* ? this month you can win an iPad mini. Yes, really. You're welcome grin.

The plan is that "Watch with Mumsnet" will introduce us all to some exclusive new shows this winter. The Christmas party season is yet to begin, after all, and it's too cold to go out anyway, so why not binge on some great telly on Netflix to get you through?

To kick off, we'll be watching Gossip Girl season 6, which is available to watch on Netflix now (along with seasons 1-5). So whether you're new to the scandalous lives of Manhattan's elite or you only have season 6 to catch up on, please do watch and get involved.

So tell us, who do you think Gossip Girl is? And, more importantly, who is inviting all these Manhattan adolescents to such exclusive parties? These questions are just suggestions - feel free to discuss any aspect of GG or tell us what you like/dislike.

Remember, you can watch every episode of Gossip girl here through Netflix. Happy watching!

xoxo MNHQ

* Only genuine contributions will be entered: By this we mean watch and join in the discusson about Gossip Girls, not just one liners to win the ipad wink

This prize draw is now closed.

helpyourself - couldn't agree more!
I am definitely NOT the target demographic for Gossip Girl. hmm

Helpyourself Sun 24-Nov-13 09:03:33

blush
I'm embarrassed to be so snippy, but really!
There are loads of recent tv series, many of which I've watched, many of which I can see are too long/ dry controversial (The Wire, Big Love, Breaking Bad, Borgen) but in case MN are still thinking about future watch together' series what about Orange is the New Black or Brotherhood?
Both lighter but not quite as crap and irrelevant frothy as GG.

Suddengeekgirl Sun 24-Nov-13 09:37:01

Well there are 6 series of GG to plough through! (If you like that sort of thing)

Maybe I'll join in next time when it's not teenager tv

KitKat33 Sun 24-Nov-13 17:57:09

I think Gossip Girl is a boy, they are way more gossipy than girls in my opinion! Not sure about the parties, the only adolescent parties I was invited to usually involved sitting around awkwardly in somebody's front room passing round a bottle of warm cider!

frankjames Sun 24-Nov-13 18:04:12

I reckon it's Dan Humphrey!

ThemisA Sun 24-Nov-13 18:19:02

It's got to be Dan

spiderwebattic Sun 24-Nov-13 18:20:29

lol his name is Dan Humphrey and he's so funny I'm almost 40 and have been in stitches watching this with my teenage daughter smile Don't knock it ladies until you've given it a Netflix whirl

jacknutter Sun 24-Nov-13 18:32:56

AngelsLieToKeepControl Sun 24-Nov-13 18:42:28

Trills Sun 24-Nov-13 19:12:22

I rather like "teen" shows, but I prefer Gilmore Girls to Gossip Girl.

Trills Sun 24-Nov-13 19:12:58

Does this mean that someone ha to read the whole thread and tick "genuine contribution"?

CajaDeLaMemoria Sun 24-Nov-13 19:15:30

Gossip Girl is my guilty pleasure. This thread made DP watch season six with me on Netflix grin

Dan is definitely GG.

weepingvipers Sun 24-Nov-13 19:15:49

I introduced my dd to gossip girl! I really enjoyed it in a light and not requiring too much brain power kind of way! I'd be happy to join in a discussion on season 6 grin

tabbaz123 Sun 24-Nov-13 19:18:07

Dan Humphrey - was Gossip Girl and Serena invited to many parties

LovesBeingHereAgain Sun 24-Nov-13 19:38:05

Hmm I have watched some if this ages ago but thinkbit was series two. Will report back when I can kick dh off tge telly cause tgere is no way he will sit through it worries this will out me via tge what your friends have watched function on netflix

I haven't watched gossip girl before... I'm happy to give anything a shot but this doesn't really appeal.

It strikes me as a bit sex and the city for a younger generation. I have no idea if that's right or not though.

I'd need to start from season 1 though. There is no chance ill be caught up enough to chat about season 6 (never mind the spoilers as well!!)

Would it not make more sense to start from the beginning?

bossladysal1 Sun 24-Nov-13 19:46:02

I reckon it's Da Humphrey. Not my kind of programme, really. I prefer Gogglebox!!

gnomebulb2 Sun 24-Nov-13 19:51:27

Has to be Dan Humphrey! Will reserve judgement on the important question of who is inviting the Manhattan adolescents to such exclusive parties, until I've watched a few more episodes.

gorsty15 Sun 24-Nov-13 20:15:26

Dan Humphreys smile Miss GG so much.
xoxo you know you love me ;)

Ikea1234 Sun 24-Nov-13 20:20:04

My cool, with it, on trend niece reliably informs me it is Dan Humphreys. Me? I'm an uncool, not with it and off trend 41 year old and so haven't managed to watch every episode, but have laughed at some of them.

juneybean Sun 24-Nov-13 20:21:12

I love Gossip Girl, both the books and the TV series, I think it was Dan Humphreys and I'm pretty sure Georgina helped out at some point.

My favourite is Blair though! She hosted a fair few exclusive parties smile
