The New Year brings about thoughts of new beginnings, and Arla Big Milk would love to know what your intentions are for a fresh start for your family, to help them grow big this January.

What are your plans and aims for the new year? Are you determined to be a better planner of healthier, wholesome meals, to make sure your DC gets enough of the good stuff? Perhaps you’d like your family to practice better sleep hygiene or spend more time together? Maybe you’re looking forward to watching your children grow big and reach milestones like weaning, taking their first steps or learning to read by themselves?

Whatever your aims, share the great ideas you have for a new and fresh start for your family in 2017 with Arla Big Milk below. All who post a comment will be entered into a prize draw where one Mumsnetter will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks, and good luck with the prize draw.

decided this morning
No screen time in mornings for DS and low carbs for me! Also to spend more time with DD as she is at the stage where a lot of changes are happening and I want to be a DM she can talk to.

Getting DD into her room finally and taking control of her bedtime. Cutting back on the amount of sugarvDS had and making more quality time for me and him. For me: making an effort to advance my career prospects and cutting back on sugar.

No more being late for everything! And getting up before 8am on a school day so we can have a more leisurely breakfast.
Managed it twice this week, failed today!!

I have given up drinking Diet Pepsi. I was using it to be more alert as I am always exhausted so I have also resolved to get more sleep.

I'm just trying to be calmer and to not make the small everyday stresses of family life any bigger. Far easier said than done thoughGrin

Batch cook for the freezer more, which requires first clearing some space in the freezer

Bit of a theme here for us all! Less screen time and less sugar for us all. Bad habits in the run up to Christmas then we've been busy with all the new toys, games and days out so trying not to slip back into bad habits.

More me-time! Both exercise and catching up with friends.

I'm going to cut down on family sugar intake, increase my own exercise and ensure we have good quality family time where we don't look on phones and do fun memorable things together!

My New Year's Resolution is the same every year: not to make any. NY is the worst time to make a resolution. I wait a couple of weeks...till a more neutral time, decorations packed away, settled into the winter, back into normal routine. Only then do I make any decisions or resolutions.

Aiming to keep the house tidier, which I think will be better for all of us not least with a toddler who is into everything.... Challenge is to get everyone on board or I'll give up in disgust by next week.

More organised, to fit more activities in the day! And attempt to keep the house tidy!

Doing dry January and trying to cut down on alcohol more generally after that. And trying to get a bit fitter - more cycling and running. And trying to encourage teenage DD to eat less junk food and move more!

To try me new family recipe a week to encourage us all to eat a bit more adventurously.

We are going to meal plan for each week to ensure we don't rely too much on chicken nuggets and chips because we haven't defrosted any meat/got anything else in!

Buy less stuff! DD really doesn't need as many clothes as she has - too much choice causes problems and it's got a bit ridiculous.

I want to lose more weight this year, and also manage my work/life balance better so that I can spend more time with my DC.

My DD wants to stop biting her nails this year.

Less screen time for all of us.
Eating healthier by meal planning and batch cooking, this has also saved us money too I have noticed in the short time I have done it for already - less dashes to the shops for things we have run out of and paying local shop prices rather than big shop offer prices.
I also want to start running and bike riding as a good example to my kids. We also will be walking instead of driving when we can - this will be more and more as the weather (hopefully) improves!

Vit D...the kids and I have tested deficient so I'm going to ensure we up our intake this year.

We want to eat more veg. I'm starting by aiming to make a vat of homemade soup each Saturday. I might even do 2 different kinds as base ingredients are often the same.
