If you've got a great recipe you knock up with a juicer, nutrition extractor or even an old-school blender then Lidl want to hear about it. Whether it's a vitamin-boosting smoothie, a cold-busting soup or even a nut butter, please share it on this thread

What creative recipes have you mastered with a blender or juicer? Maybe you have a genius recipe for filling your kids chock-full of vegetables or fruit, or you've worked out a way to use it to make something you'd normally have to pay loads more to buy in a shop? Do you use the chopper for making short work of rubs or marinades? Or maybe you use the crushed ice to whip up summer drinks and knockout cocktails. Whatever your surprising use of a blender or juicer is, Lidl then we'd love to know more.

Lidl want to hear about these recipes to celebrate their launch of their new Silvercrest Kitchen Tool Nutrition Mixier on 18th January for (£29.99 - hurry while stocks last Grin)

Everyone who posts a recipe on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where five MNers will each win a £50 Lidl voucher.

Thanks and best of luck,

MNHQ

my favourite no added sugar lemonade, for serious lovers of lemon.
(i admit I have got super powerful blender that I bought out of an unexpected tax-rebate-not sure how how a bog standard would work.)

bunch of grapes
1/3 or 1/4 of a lemon depending on size.
water.

  1. pull grapes off stalks

2.rinse
3.rinse lemon portion (DO NOT PEEL!)

add to your blender
add water
blend

yum.

Love frozen mixed berries.

A couple of handfuls of frozen mixed berries (usually raspberries and blueberries).
A handful of kale.
Half a cup of water.

Lovely cup of thick, berry smoothie.

Love making soup in a blender.

2lb sweet potatoes, peeled and sliced
1 clove garlic
olive oil
1 red onion
2 celery sticks
1 carrot
2 sprigs thyme
1tbsp ground cumin
½tsp hot pepper sauce
2pts vegetable stock
Freshly ground black pepper

Roast garlic and potatoes with olive oil. Fry onion, celery, carrot, thyme in saucepan. Add sweet potatoes, cumin, pepper sauce, pepper, veg stock. Simmer for a bit, then add to blender. Delicious with crème fraiche and served with paprika and coriander.

My favourite smoothie, made in a blender, is:

Half an avocado
Half a lime, including the skin (or the flesh & zest of one whole orange, but remove the white pith)
1 tsp raw honey
5 tsp raw cacao powder
2 tsp chia seeds
Water to whatever level you need - my blender jug takes 700ml

In that order. You can even prepare it the night before, put in the fridge, then just whizz it up in the morning. It's not particularly sweet, so maybe add more honey if you like a sweet one. I love it - chocolate orange, or the lime one tastes a bit like those chocolate lime sweets.

Broccoli cheese soup (once you blend, you'd have no idea it has broccoli in it Grin)

One large head of broccoli, washed and roughly chopped
1 large onion, chopped
1 cup of grated strong cheddar
1oz flour
1oz butter
1 pint stock (veg or chicken )

Sweat veg for 10 mins till soft, put in blender. Make a roux with flour & butter, slowly add stock. Add blended veg and bring to boil. Remove from heat, add cheese and stir till melted. Do not re-boil.

Add some mustard or Worcestershire sauce for a twist.

Carrots. Cinnamon. Vanilla ice cream. Whiz it up and take it to a summer picnic/day out in a flask to keep it cool. Sounds weird but I promise it is amazing!

Bbq marinade:

Handful of cumin seeds, fennel seeds and 2 cloves chucked in and ground for 30 seconds (never expected my nutribullet to do that!). Chuck in juice of an orange, 6 table spoons of balsamic, same of ketchup and a teaspoon of paprika. Absolutely lush!

I use my blender to make a Thai curry paste - red chilli, garlic, spring onion, loads of coriander, ginger and lemongrass. Tastes so much nicer than stuff from a jar.

This simple recipe for a breakfast/mid morning smoothie can be whipped up very quickly and is cheap to make.

I call it my "Natural Pro Plus" :-)

Two Handfuls Of Baby Spinach Leaves
150g of either Galia or Honeydew Melon
150g of Fat Free Natural Greek or Natural Yoghurt
Half a handful of Goji Berries (if you can find them)
a Pinch of Sunflower Seeds.

Its a powerful Green Smoothie which really does give you the awake feeling in the morning but the melon gives it a sweet taste which slightly overpowers the spinach, all the goodness but not the taste :-)

Add milk, oats and dates (without stones!) to blender and leave for half an hour. Then add banana and and honey and blitz. Quick healthy breakfast!

I usually make green breakfast smoothies - chuck in half spinach/kale then add banana, Apple, plum - whatever frozen fruit I have in... Few chia seeds and water.
Yesterday I made beetroot hummus... Tin chickpeas, spoon of tahini, cooked beetroot, lemon juice, water... Delicious
