With Christmas on it’s way, Homebase have launched a quiz on Mumsnet and would like you to have a go and let us know what you think of the result!

Please take a few minutes to do the quiz and find out what kind of Christmas host you are and return to this thread to let us know your result. Are you a last-minute shopper or an all year-round planner? Find out with our festive bit of froth.

Everyone who posts about their quiz results on this thread will be entered in to a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 Homebase voucher.

Thanks & good luck,
MNHQ

Military planner - ha, not really
I do have a good idea of how the day should go and I do like to make a bit of a creative effort but I usually manage to pull it together at the last minute.

Military planner...everyone who knows me would agree Blush

Military Planner apparently! I suppose that's half true in terms of presents and decorations!

Delegator... Worst quiz I've seen in a while, wasn't any question where I found an answer which was right, had to just click any. First question as an example, my decorations are up!

First time thrower, but what a silly quiz.

I'm also a military planner. But i doubt that means anything more than just being organised in order to make live a little less stressful!

Apparently I'm a First Time Thrower. Which is actually true, amusingly. (We have someone staying for Christmas this year, for the first time ever.) I'm probably a little bit of a planner as well. Have to agree though, that quiz isn't great. Some of the questions had no suitable answer, & others had more than one.

First Time Thrower

Not at all accurate but there was no option for decs already being up, so the quiz was flawed from the start!

I'm also a military planner. Which would surprise absolutely no-one who's been to my house for Christmas Xmas Grin

My decorations are up.

No one who is invited for Christmas lunch is a drinker (very old DFil, DBil driving, DSil only drinks Nestea), neither DH nor I go mad on the booze, what with a manic 4yo.

I don't follow any chef at all - couldn't tell you who one was Blush

That's when I turned the quiz off. Shame really, I love quizzes!

Military Planner - no surprises there! although I'm a tee-total vegetarian so I couldn't answer 2 of the questions properly!

Consummate delegator which I suppose is true this year because we're not at home for Xmas so it was a bit tricky to answer!

CMOTDibbler · 09/12/2015 11:48

Last minute pull it together, which is totally accurate

Military planner: not really, but we do have a lot of family traditions so everything works out in its way I suppose.

..and certainly it is right about the day itself being stress free because everything is done in advance. But generally everything comes together on Christmas eve only because that is my deadline. If I didn't set a 'if it isn't done we won't be doing it' deadline we'd still be faffing with paper chains on 27th!

Military planner. No surprises there really. If I don't plan and organise things well in advance I get anxious that it won't go well.

Being organised lets me enjoy the festivities more.

Military operator- although a couple of questions didn't apply, I just chose the closest thing.
I guess I am in the lead up but then on the day it's super relaxing as everything just ticks into place!

Military Operator here too - I don't get stressed about Christmas, I just enjoy it :)

Another Military Operator but the quiz missed a key option. I'm watching Dr Who on Christmas Day!

Hmmm - first time thrower apparently, except I'm most definitely not.

Some pretty daft and weird choices in a few of those questions.

Obviously Homebase is also a "first time thrower" of quiz concoctions...

ButterflyOfFreedom · 09/12/2015 19:53

First time thrower apparently.

Though I wouldn't say that.

I know it's just a bit of fun but it was a bit silly and some of the options were very random / inappropriate.

Hope I don't sound too bah humbug - I'm not at all!!

Consummate delegator. Fairly true - I've never actually hosted a Christmas dinner, I always go to my parents! I do pull my weight when I get there, but would hate to deal with it all on my own.

Report
CalmYoBadSelf · 10/12/2015 00:22

Consummate delegator which is rubbish as we always have a houseful of people and I love catering, entertaining and having family and friends together! There were several questions that no answer was right for me which probably skewed it

I'm a military operator, apparently, but I'm happy with the description. I do like to plan for minimum inconvenience.

I've got First Time Thrower, which is curious - but it will be the first year at home, with just my DP and our children and no extended family. We're planning a very quiet relaxed day and I've pre-ordered the food, which is all ready prepared just to chuck in the oven!

Tanfastic · 10/12/2015 06:38

Military planner over here too which doesn't surprise me.

I like to be fairly organised so that by the middle of December I can at least start to enjoy the run up without flapping!
