We've been asked by Cif to find out about Mumsnetters' fantasy grin cleaning products.

Here’s what Cif have to say, "Our latest cleaning product - Cif Express Direct to Floor - can be used direct on the floor and small surfaces for a sparkling clean home. It leaves a long lasting and fresh fragrance. It's suitable for tiled, laminate and washable/ varnished wood floors. To use, you simply squirt the product directly onto the floor, then wipe with a damp mop, there's no need to rinse and it dries really fast! Now available in Antibacterial, Lemon & Apple Flowers and Wild Orchid & Velvet flowers, the RRP is £2.00 for 750 ml."

Check out the MNers review video here (and check out their feedback here):

So, what magic cleaning product would you invent? Maybe you wish for a super-speedy vacuum cleaner? Or maybe a stain remover that can remove every possible stain? Perhaps you'd like to create a dust-repellent spray so you'd never need to dust again? A loo brush that kept itself clean wink?

Whatever your dream cleaning products are, Cif Express Direct to Floor would love to hear about them.

Everyone who adds a comment will be entered into a prize draw where one lucky MNer will win a £250 voucher for the store of their choice.

Please note comments on this thread might be used by Cif on their website or on their social media channels: please only add a comment if you're happy for your comment to be used.

Thanks and good luck,
MNHQ

A washing up brush with a spinny head, like a big electric toothbrush. It would be perfect.

HoneyDragon Mon 21-Jul-14 15:04:50

Ironing spray. Place clothing on hanger. Spray and all the creases are removed.

No more ironing ever unless you want creases.

CatKisser Mon 21-Jul-14 15:09:19

Sticky soled shoes which pick up bits from the carpet as you walk around.

reddaisy Mon 21-Jul-14 15:09:26

Oooh, I like yours HoneyDragon - I would definitely buy it but it would be even better if it could be added to the washing machine so you didn't have to spray everything individually (overthinking the question)

My dream product: A spray I could use on DH, DC and myself to magically make us all pick up after themselves, we are all messy by nature but I like a tidy environment which is tricky all round

Or more realistic product: Some sort of self scrubbing product that meant that I could just wipe dried Weetabix off things

after ourselves

I want a skirting board cleaner.

Like a mop, only sponge and contoured to nicely glide along skirting boards and with a little plastic thing that made the sponge fold up so you could squeeze the water out of it. You would be able to flip it so that it could do coving too.

I am tired of bending down to clean my skirting board. A normal mop makes a mess of the wall. A hoover gets the dust off but scrapes the woodwork or wall if you are not careful, and it doesn't take off mucky marks. What I need is a proper little shaped spongey thing on a stick.

And if one comes on the market as a result of this thread - I want you to pay me for the idea grin I will be watching...

I have a few ideas:

-A decent non-abrasive brush to clean the shower with. It would have a triangular head at one end, to get into corners and a thinner prong on the other end to clean between the shower door/ base and around the sealant.

-Triangular sponge mop head which fits on a standard mop handle and can be squeezed out like a normal mop head.

-Grout cleaner/whitener.

- Tumble dryer sheets which reduce creases.

- A self-cleaning toilet!

How about a cleaning robot that did everything while I was at work and then disappeared in a puff of purple smoke before I got home each day, leaving the house spotless and worthy of a spread in Good Housekeeping?

HoneyDragon Mon 21-Jul-14 15:52:04

I hate ironing, it's my dream product.

Dh has already remodelled my ironing board so it removes creases more efficiently (only need to iron one side of most items now ....clever dh) but it's still not enough!

I would like a magic furniture polish that makes my wooden furniture look shiny and clean and smells nice, and lasts more than 10 seconds.

Trollsworth Mon 21-Jul-14 15:55:57

Something that will clean the sink for me ever singe day so I never have to put my hand in it.

rootypig Mon 21-Jul-14 16:49:51

A magic self cleaning dishcloth.

No matter what I do my dishcloths always seem to smell after a day or two. I loathe bleach, and I don't want to put the manky things in my washing machine and swill my clothes in sink bacteria.

shanewayne Mon 21-Jul-14 17:03:24

I want a spray for the shower that cleans the glass and tiles sparkling clean. you just spray on and walk away, no scrubbing or rinsing

Socksarecosy Mon 21-Jul-14 17:19:06

Automatic cleaning products built in to things like shower gel and face wash so that not only you are getting clean the residue doesn't just go down the plug hole and do nothing. Instead it cleans your bath/sink etc.

fegus Mon 21-Jul-14 17:24:36

Some sort of ball to go in the washing machine that attracts all the dog and cat hairs from the clothes. There must be a way to do this.

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes Mon 21-Jul-14 17:33:22

a magic wand would do, I could just point it at things and they magically become tidy / sparkling clean. Loving the add in stuff for a washing machine that means no more ironing.

sashh Mon 21-Jul-14 17:39:52

- A self-cleaning toilet!

Invented years ago. Builders don't put them in because they don't think people would pay the extra. They exist in those public loos that do the impression of a tardis.

I want some sort of stuff I can put on the car so that the rain washes it.

ChaffinchOfDoom Mon 21-Jul-14 17:55:39

My dream cleaning products.....
seriously... a glass cleaner sponge/wipe thing that gets through anything with no tiresome polishing
a dust aversion spray for around my tv
a product that very easily cleans leather furniture

and not so seriously...
a nappy changing machine
an oven that has like a carwash feature inside to fully wash and drain itself after cooking splurty roasts
baking trays that repel burnt food
some kind of limescale firework to make limescale fun

DarklingJane Mon 21-Jul-14 18:11:18

Anyone who can invent a carpet cleaner which gets dog wee stains (i.e. the actual colour not just takes out the bacteria etc) out of rugs / carpet would earn a fortune I reckon

EvilHerbivore Mon 21-Jul-14 18:18:08

Some sort of carwash for babies (could be adapted for pets too) - DS2 is blw and is constantly mucky! A device to just pop him through and get rid of stickiness and black in his neck fat would make our day so much easier!

ThatBloodyWoman Mon 21-Jul-14 18:25:21

A really fast sandpapering type of accessory for your drill/hoover/blender, to sand off the really burnt on black bits at the bottom of the oven.

RustyBear Mon 21-Jul-14 18:30:14

Some kind of tool that is as effective as a thumbnail for scraping stuff off other stuff - maybe something that actually fits over your thumb so it's just like using your own thumb but without the nail damage.

Keepcalmanddrinkwine Mon 21-Jul-14 18:44:45

I would invent a really powerful cleaner with a good strong smell that has no negative environmental impact. Greener products don't seem as effective but I prefer to use them when I can. Nothing beats a squirt of bleach though.

AnneEyhtMeyer Mon 21-Jul-14 18:54:12

A wipe to clean ovens that involves no scrubbing and leaves no white residue, and doesn't give off fumes when you turn the oven on.

You would wipe all round with this and your oven would be sparkling clean.
