Watch With Mumsnet, in association with Netflix, is back again this month – this time, with the critically-acclaimed series Breaking Bad, widely regarded as one of the most electrifying television shows ever to have come out of the US.

Breaking Bad follows Emmy award-winner Bryan Cranston as Walter White, a high school science teacher diagnosed with terminal lung cancer who, in order to support his family, teams up with a former student to manufacture and sell crystal meth. Millions tuned in to the epic finale last year; no surprise that Mumsnetters were among them.

Here’s what Mumsnetters had to say about Breaking Bad:

• "It's amazing - one of the most original dramas I've come across."

• "One of the best TV series ever … I loved it. The cast, the script, the acting...everything."

• "Now I've finished it, I realise it's almost as good as The Wire - so it's one of the best things I've ever watched on TV."

• "Just finished the last episode of Breaking Bad. It was intense. We've been watching at least one episode every night, sometimes three!"

With all five seasons available to watch on Netflix now, your viewing is sorted for the coming months (and, yes: we give you permission to binge-watch). Just come back to this thread and let us know what you think; everyone who joins the discussion will be entered into a competition to win an Xbox One console.

Note on spoilers: We want to hear your thoughts on everything, from plot twists to season finales and more - but if you’re talking anything that could reveal important plot details then please put Spoiler at the beginning of your post to warn others who may not have seen it.

Happy watching,
MNHQ

I started watching Breaking Bad a few weeks ago after reading on here how good it was. I found it to be very slow starting and really struggled to keep watching. I'm now on season 3 and I'm so glad I stuck with it. The main character Walt is my current favourite character and I admire the lengths he has gone to too protect his family from poverty should anything happen to him.

I've just watched the first episode on Netflix and am a bit disappointed. I had heard such good things and will stick with it but I sure hope it gets better.

We're about three episodes into Series 2 and love it. Intrigued by the backstory - why Walt didn't fulfil his potential, in particular, - and love the flashes of humour, almost slapstick in nature sometimes.

I have to resist the temptation to add a 'yo' at the end of every sentence after having a bit of a binge Wink

I'm too scared to read this thread in case of spoilers! We're half way through season 4 which I'm finding a bit slow moving. Love it though, although it's playing hell with my 'get to bed early so I can cope with DTs wake-ups' plan. Never seem to be able to watch just one...

I loved every second of it! Watched about 4 episodes every night until it was over, we were obsessed. We were happy about the ending, did not feel disappointed or cheated. We walk around saying "yeah bitch" at anything and everything though...

I love Breaking Bad. The first few episodes are slow so don't give up! I am starting to rewatch it now :)

I have seen every episode of Breaking Bad and this thread has helped me decide to watch it all over again Smile

My favourite characters are Walt, Jesse (Aaron Paul Grin) and Hank. The relationship between Walt and Jesse grows with you as connect with the show.
The music is fabulous too.

Honestly this is probably the BEST series that has ever been on TV. You need an excuse not to watch it!

I love Breaking Bad! DH and I are on Series 3, and we try an sneak in an episode or two every week.

It's great how they have kept the story going, and avoided the obvious pitfalls of making characters two-dimensional. The bad turn out good, and vice versa, and no one is who they initially seem to be. I also love the way the series depicts the mundane "logistical issues" associated with what they are doing. It isn't easy Breaking Bad. Wink

Absolutely loved this series. DH and I would often watch 2 or 3 episodes at a time. I loved all the characters and have never watched anything before where I felt so invested in the characters and where I chopped & changed my mind about characters so often. At the beginning I loved Walt, then I went off him, then I liked him again, then I really disliked him. Likewise with Jessie and Skylar. I loved Skylar's sister and Hank. Oh I wish I could go back to the beginning again!

We've started it but its really very slow and I'm unsure if we should carry on as we're only 2 episodes in. Going by the reviews here though we should give it a few more episodes at least.

I love it! Just finished series 1. The acting, the script and often the music is brilliant. Some of the throwaway one-liners are classic! It's great to have a proper series to get immersed in.

Ive never been so addicted to a series before. So much better when you can watch them back to back and not have to wait a week.

I loved all the characters. Walt changed slowly from someone I hoped wouldn't get caught to a monster I wanted I be caught. Jessie was fabulous, and gorgeous

It started slowly but soon became something I couldn't wait for the dc to go to bed so I could watch.

Would recommend to anyone, I am now a bit lost without it. There's not much else that is so exciting

I am currently trying to forget I ever watched Breaking Bad so that I can watch it all over again! DP and I loved this and watched the lot on Netflix over the last few months, we practically went into mourning when it ended. This is demonstrative of how unexciting our lives are!

DP wasn't keen on the ending and felt it was a letdown but I thought it tied up all the loose ends reasonably well.

I had a Breaking Bad marathon on saturday. I watched 15 episodes back to back! Watched the finale yesterday. Hugely addictive.

I caught the first series when I was flying with Virgin to Orlando. 3 episodes out and 4 back. I then bought the boxset which I watched within a week. My dad had just passed away and I was on compassionate leave. It gave me something to focus on with humour and I really grew to like the characters. I felt lost when it ended. It was brilliantly written and I loved Walt, even though he became someone I would usually despise.

My favourite series ever. Ever. Ever!

I still haven't found anything else to replace the void in my life now that I've finished it. :(

I made it my New Years Resolution to watch Breaking Bad, I am no good at self improvement! I had had so many recommendations to watch it and have not been disappointed. I have spent the last three months obsessed by Walter White and Jesse. It is TV drama at its best and compulsive viewing.

I found it slow going to start with, but after an evening spent watching 4 episodes I was absolutely hooked and a little in love with Jesse. I'm nearly finished season 2, and already I'm wondering if I'll feel bereft when I'm done. I completely agree about the characters - at the start I thought I'd dislike Hank but he's a star.

I am just starting Season 2 and I love it!

FranSanDisco What you said struck a chord. DH left us in November and I have been in a fog. A mixture of things are making me feel better but BB is definitely one of the top reasons.

I have a free evening tonight. I am planning on shower, food, wine and Breaking Bad. I have tiramisu for pudding and I had my nails done today. Life is good Grin.

DH and I have just finished watching this. I am in mourning. He had the temerity to suggest we start watching a new series tonight ('The Sopranos'). What is he thinking? Shock. I can't let go of Jesse and Walt and Hank and Skylar and all the other wonderful characters.

It was simply one of the most brilliant television series I have ever watched. I am so envious of those of you watching it for the first time.

I caught up with it all bar the last six episodes which I watched live. The final episode I was gutted cause it clashed with my flight to LA Grin but luckily I had wifi in the apartment and downloaded it as soon as I woke up the next day. Thank god for jet lag, a balcony and the Californian sunshine (the leftover key lime Cheesecake Factory cheesecake) helped too! One of my most memorable times Smile

I recommend it to EVERYONE and have got all my friends hooked.

The casting is brilliant. It is just amazing. You start off feeling sorry for Walt and being a bit 'oh god what next!!?' And then he turns bad...but you still FEEL for him and want him to do well. That is brilliant writing in my eyes. Jesse is also the man I want in my life! Grin

I haven't watched a tv series since, nothing compares, sadly.
