Here's what Flora have to say, "With Halloween and half term coming up, it’s a great time for making treats with your children. We’d love to hear about your favourite recipes for Halloween treats.“

So what are your favourite Halloween treat recipes? Do you make an impressive spooky sponge? Or maybe you prefer a classic pumpkin pie? Are you an expert at making creepy cookies?

Have you seen any Halloween creations you wish you could make? What has inspired you to get creative this Halloween?

hollow out a pumpkin - then throw all the insides away because no one really thinks you are big n clever for making pumpkin soup and it tastes a bit shit

next make up green jelly leave to cool a bit, put sweets in the jelly

put jelly in pumpkin and leave to set

when the kids come to the door trick or treating, you tell them that they have to delve into the monster brains to get the sweets

cue much jelly squishing

Not tried it yet but it looks great!

Tie a load of drinking straws together, put in a pint glass then pour jelly into them. Once set, lift the straws (the jelly should slide out apparently - we'll see!) and viola - jelly worms!

bendy straws in a thinnish tall glass so they are packed tightly - or hold together with elastic band

pour in RED jelly

leave to set

run straws under warm water

the jelly plops out and looks like worms

Olives make perfect mouldy eyeballs, especially when piped with cream cheese and a pepper corn as the pupil.

Or just make what you usually make but put loads of green, black or orange food colouring in and turn it into instant halloween food.

I've just bought some cookie cutters with hallowe'en themes (pumpkin, ghost etc), so we will make some cookies with pumpkins.
And maybe an easy pumpkin soup. We don't go crazy with hallowe'en, it's never been that important to me. Maybe this will change, DS is still only young.

pumpkin soup with seasoning salt stock and lentils onion it is simple and sooo warm. so when I have to walk round freezing my bits off on Halloween I can warm my hands and self with soup .

hellmouth your pumpkin dipping brain idea is genius, plus it May annoy that many parents that no-one comes next year and I get to eat the sweets. kids would like me, parents would hate me and id get the spare chocolate result all round!

Halloween mash is always a hit, green food colouring to make monster mash then a monster face with whatever we have in the house. or if your really keen to push vegetable eating monster mash with brocolli squished in haha

Ds has decided that I am having a late birthday party with spooky food, so I'm doing:

trifle made with choc cake (dollop of black food colour gel to make it black), custard turned orange, then jelly spiders on top of the cream.

orange peppers with pumpkin faces carved in, stuffed with mince, rice, herbs, onions, and tomato sauce on top

black rice noodles for me, squid ink pasta for the others with olive oil and seafood

maybe some spooky cupcakes if I can be doing with decorating them

giant sweetie spiders made with giant marshmallows, strawberry bootlaces, fried egg sweets for eyes

Hahn Custy, I was about to list the same recipe! Except I it extra gelatin, some cream and a few drops of green food dye in as it makes them properly worm coloured! They're fab! (Mine never plop out with warm water, but you can squeeeeeeze the most with a rolling pin!!)

We had a Halloween challenge one year where the meal had to consist of foods coloured green, black, orange.

I can't post a photo so here is the description: We had tapenade on toast, red wine (from Green & Black's) stew with an apricot & prune sauce, aduki beans, turtle beans, runner beans, carrots, and orange pepper. We also had roasted potatoes which had an orangey-red skin.

Chipolatas wrapped in strips of puff pastry to look like mummies, baked bean brains, one year I found purple potatoes which I mashed and made into hand shapes.

We also do green slime jelly with Halloween sweets!

I'm afraid we do the standard biscuits inexpertly decorated by my toddler with globs of orange and black icing, liquorice 'spider legs', Smarties and glitter. They are truly gruesome :o

On the jelly theme, I made jelly in a rubber glove once. It peeled off perfectly to give a dead hand. I decorated it a bit to look mouldy. Voila - dead hand jelly.....Perhaps to be combined with the worms above.

drawing scary pictures on satsumas to pretend they are baby pumpkins - goes down really well and edible too !

very popular in the holiday club lunch box too- dead easy :)

We are probably a bit boring but use a basic fairy cake recipe and then decorate them for Halloween- coloured icing, writing icing, eyeball sweets etc.

110g flora, softened at room temperature
110g caster sugar
2 free-range eggs, lightly beaten
1 tsp vanilla extract
110g self-raising flour
1-2 tbsp milk (optional but we like it)

Mix, split into 12 Halloween cases and bake at 180 for about 10 minutes (slightly less if fan oven).

If you want more cakes, just double up.

We do the old spaghetti as inards, grapes as eyeballs, jelly as just general body mush. And satsumas with pipecleaners as spider legs.

I like making chocolate or fondant mice in silicone trays using strawberry laces to give them long tails. I have some new lego mini figure trays so might try making lego man biscuits and decorating them as skeletons, zombies etc this year.
