Guinness World Records say "Our book (in case you didn't know) is the official reference for world records. Distributed in more than one hundred countries and translated into twenty languages, the Guinness World Records book is one of the best-selling books of all time.

Bursting with new and updated achievements, the Guinness World Records 2014 book offers the most inspiring record holders, new topics such as Superheroes and Venom, and feature chapters on urban life, the circus and our dynamic Earth. The Augmented Reality feature is back, with even more 3D animations. Live through the exciting experience of seeing record holders erupt from the pages in front of your eyes in full 3D. If you liked it last year, you are going to love it this year!"

To celebrate the launch of the 2014 Guinness World Records Book the team there have asked MN to find out from you what your favourite record is in the Guinness World Records Book and why? And - if you or your child(ren) could have a record entry in it, what would it be?

Add your comment below and you'll be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £200 Amazon voucher! Grin

Thanks and good luck

PS If you haven’t got your copy yet, the 2014 book is now available in-store and online.

The world record for most people skinny dipping used to be held by a group that did it in one of my favourite Welsh beaches in Rhossili; I think it's time we bring that baby back home again! So that is my favourite record.

On behalf of my husband I would like my son to get Most Career Goals (football)... sorry Pelé but it is time to make way for another generation.

I can't pick a favourite, but I would definitely say one that take a lot of skill. It seems that the book has got so huge over the past few years that you could get into it for doing some really silly things these days.

When i was a child, many many years ago. My favourite bit was about how many children people had given birth to, and how much the heaviest baby weighed. So glad mine didn't weigh that much.

Mine always used to do with how much someone eaten of a specific food or anything to do with babies eg largest number of multiple births or heaviest ...longest time between birth of twins ect.

However the one that should be in it (it may actually already be there) is the number of whole pringles someone can fit in their mouth without them breaking lol

My favourite entry when I was little was the longest finger nails - I loved looking at the photo - yuck!

My favourite record is the number of times someone managed to split a single hair - it is my favourite one because DW is obsessed with split ends and somehow this record always reminds me of her!

I also used to love the fingernail records (especially being a biter myself).

I would like to go for the record of either most hours spent on Mumsnet or most candies crushed in a set time.
:)

I remember the lady who gave birth to 67 children!!! 67!!! Wow, just wow! I wouldn't go so far as to wish that I was winning that one though! Grin

I used to stare fascinated at the woman with the skinniest waist.

I think our record would have to be most owned train track by a boy under the age of 5. Grin

Someone's got there before me! My favourite was always the longest fingernails. I remember the picture of someone stood on a balcony with the MASSIVE fingernails dangling down! Not the record for me though, I keep mine short...
Maybe I could do a food eating one? I quite like watching Man vs Food and think I could take on some of the eating challenges.

Favourites have to be something aspirational but mental like furthest distance walked in high heels on a tight rope, you know something you could see kids practicing in their bedrooms after reading it!

As we are,, I'm sure we could beat some kind of decibel record :)

My favourite has to be the number of coffee beans put into a coffee cup using chopsticks! The reason why - I got to attempt this at Butlins a couple of years ago (although I didn't get close to beating the record - I did really well compared to everyone else!). We also tried things like building lego towers and domino towers and I think the fun of it is that they really seem acheiveable to beat the record but when you actually try it you realise it is not as easy as it looks / sounds.

My kids would attempt the record for loudest fart I reckon!

DS1 seems to be fascinated with the tallest man story, I have no idea why. He is average height for his age, so not like he has much in common with him.

DS1 would probably win the most facts recalled about sea creatures or similar.

And we have seen the lady with the record number of facial piercings around the town here.

The yoyo. But that's because DH was in it for the world Yoyo endurance record when he was 14. He did it in Chadd's department store in Hereford, 20 May 1970 - 8 hours, 7 minutes 13 seconds.

It's gone way past that now because now they are allowed to cheat take breaks... Grin

The most tap dancers, not sure if it has been beaten in later years but Roy Castle was great during that one.

Have to say the longest hockey game 25 hours I think it was, my son played in it. Grin

Records for piercings and tattoos are a big hit in my house Smile

My DC would love to break some of the "Lego" records. Unfortunately I have put my foot down and said no more of the blasting stuff is coming into the house. May reconsider if I win a £200 voucher though...Smile

If she's still in there, Bambi, the oldest deer in the world, of Kiltarlity, Invernesshire. She was my great aunt's and is still spoken of very fondly, her grave is still visited by us :D Mum remembers feeding her polos and doughnuts!!

I love all the really silly records and am fascinated by the Longest Finger Nails/Longest Hair/Most tattooed lady, kind of records. I would like my daughters to win the 'Tidying their bedroom with the least amount of complaining in the quickest time' record!

The most people to fit in to a mini makes me laugh seeing them all squashed in and smiling way for the camera!
My son would want to be in there for 'most hotdogs eaten in one minute' and I'd like to be in there for most cities visited by one person in the shortest amount of time. If that exists?

The one that I always think of is the handbrake turn to park between two cars. I am a safe driver but a rubbish parker so the guy that does this has superpowers to me!

My favourite records are the odd ones like sitting in a bath full of baked beans for hours or the food eating ones ..... crazy!

My DS is also fascinated by the tallest man in the world. However if he could be an entry it would have to be the fastest goal scored Smile because he is football mad.

Don't have this book but it would be right up DS street I reckon yet more opportunities to correct me on facts I don't know!

I think would most likely be able to achieve some kind of record for length of time talking without pausing.

DS himself would probably prefer to aim for a marathon tv viewing record!
