Hi, not posted on MN for years, apologies if I say or do anything weird!
My almost 13 dd is currently waiting to see CAMHS autistic pathways team. She has been assessed by Ed. psych and scored very low on cognitive tests and he suggested she had a mild learning difficulty and also inflexibility of thought and problems with communication and language.
I had a sensory profile completed in the summer and she suggested dd had some sensory issues (visual and audio were extremely high and preciopatiation (sp) were also high.)
She is on SEN register at school and she has support for some lessons and the school are slowly beginning to manage her a lot better.
Her behaviour is very negative, she has meltdowns, her own ways of doing everything, hates talking etc .
However, she is quite sociable, funny and can function well in life and most of her friends probably don't see her as 'different', she is quite popular!
I guess I just want to talk, wonder what happens next? What happens if she doesn't get a diagnosis for something. Will her support disappear? How long does it take?
This morning she refused to go to school, she has quite severe exzema and It has flared up so she point blank refused to go overt he door. I had to phone work and explain....again! They are supportive but it's still such an awkward thing to do.
She has self harmed quite a lot but I think this is more to do with a trendy obsession... Not sure though.
She doesn't open up to me at all... It's like my voice irritates the hell out of he r!!!!!
She has to have either a tooth out or a brace but the dentist said her teeth were too dirty for a brace. After the initial embarrassment of that, I have tried to discuss all options with her but she is refusing to even see the dentist again - is every single thing in life always going to be a battle? When she was little, I'd just frog march her and and we'd battle it out but now she is as big as me with a tongue that stops you in your tracks.... Blimey every day is a battle....
Thanks for listening....and breeeeeeeeeathe!
