Sat Nav for Dyspraxic Driver? Advice please!

Have also put this on Chat thread...

DS is dyspraxic and dyslexic, we were very proud when he passed his text 3 years ago (after A LOT of lessons and practice) and he enjoys driving although he doesn't do a lot of it (at uni) and he's never had an accident. We've always been a bit cautious of him driving with a sat nav because he is so easily distracted due to dyspraxia and we were concerned he might be looking at it too much rather than the road. However we had a bit of a crisis last month which meant he had to drive a busy route alone he'd never done on his own and he used DH's sat nav. Dear Reader - it was successful and he was confident using it and although we weren't in the car with him he came home safely without an accident or killing himself or anyone else!

He has a birthday coming up and I know he would like his own sat nav...

Has anyone got any recommendations or advice please?

DH found a Garmin one that looks good with relatively big screen but one of the reviews says that the spoken instructions come a bit too soon when there can be a few turnings close together. Those of you with knowledge of dyspraxia will understand my concern! Help please!

The largest screen possible tomtom one, has been a winner with many Dyspraxic. and do the soft southern irish accent, and call it father tomtom, keeps the stress levels down.

I have dyslexia and dyspraxia and found the tom tom best when looking around to by, they are also by far the easiest to use. They stop me getting stressed at having to read road signs.
