Our SN area is not a substitute for expert advice. While many Mumsnetters have a specialist knowledge of special needs, if they post here they are posting as members, not experts. There are, however, lots of organisations that can help - some suggestions are listed here. If you've come across an organisation that you've found helpful, please tell us. Hello,

We're a disability charity, and we're running a survey to find out whether people are living in safe and suitable homes. We want to know how your home affects everyday life for you and your family, so we can tell the Government how important it is to invest in improving people's homes. Please answer our survey at www.surveymonkey.com/s/aboutyourhome. Thank you!

If you'd like to find out more about the survey, please visit www.papworth.org.uk/news-detail.php?aid=341

I would help, but given this governments record I don't think they would really care. Sorry.

Hi LadySybildeChocolate, thanks for your interest in our survey.

The Government, Councils and GPs are all responsible for people's health and care needs. We think that investing money in adapting homes would be more cost effective than building new homes, as well as being better for disabled people, so we hope that the Government, Councils and GPs will listen.

We hope you will consider adding strength to our argument by answering our survey.

Thanks and best wishes,
Emma

I couldn't agree with you more. I used to work with sick and disabled children, it's vital that they are given the stability of remaining in their own home which has been adapted for their needs as it makes a much happier child. The Gov is very poor at listening to the needs of society's most vulnerable members though.

Thanks for your comments - would it be OK with you if I share them with our Policy and Campaigns team? They would be interested to hear your views. (You can also email them directly at policy@papworth.org.uk.)

Best wishes,
Emma
